Under John's command, Alixia quickly started the exaggerated jeep's engine, and the tires bit into the ground with a grinding sound as it roared forward.
"Taktron, can you find information about the industrial area south of the capital? I need to know what's been happening there recently," John asked urgently.
Taktron focused on browsing through his data device, then revealed a hint of a sinister smile. "This is not good, sir. Recently, not only has there been subsidence in the strata, but also some unusual energy fluctuations. I suspect all of this is related to the Chaos Cult."
"Where did the subsidence occur?" John continued to inquire.
"The earliest report came from a church, sir," Taktron said.
John's eyes widened instantly, everything seemed to connect. "That's our destination. Full speed ahead!"
Alixia glanced at the road ahead and then floored the gas pedal. The jeep sped through the narrow streets and winding alleys like a bullet.
Karenmu gripped the seat tightly, his expression serious. "If the Chaos Cult is really there, we may be facing great danger. We must be prepared."
John tightly gripped the steering wheel, knowing that the upcoming battle would be filled with smoke and chaos, but it was all to put an end to the madness.
The jeep abruptly slowed down in front of the church, then came to a sudden stop. John instantly opened the car door, jumped out, and the others quickly followed.
"Are you ready?" John looked at his teammates.
They nodded, each with a determined and courageous look in their eyes. John took a deep breath and then led his team into the church filled with a chaotic atmosphere. All the mysteries and dangers were hidden within this seemingly ordinary but actually cursed building.
In front of the church surrounded by a blocked-off line, John and his teammates were all stunned. What was supposed to be a towering three-story church now only had a bit of roof and some crumbling stone pillars left. The ground looked as if it had been clawed by a giant, with terrifying cracks appearing. "Look at this eerie place," John frowned, not liking this atmosphere of unknown danger.
John Looked around and furrowed his brows slightly. "This is not just a simple subsidence of the earth's crust."
Alixia Closed her eyes, focused for a moment, then opened her gem-like eyes. "I can sense a powerful chaotic energy below, this is not just a simple subsidence of the earth's crust."
"Received, everyone prepare your weapons." John took out his Mk14 energy pistol and disengaged the safety.
Taktron quickly adjusted his multifunctional goggles and said, "Indeed, the terrain variations here do not match normal natural disasters."
Karenmu tightly grasped his sacred scriptures and quickly performed a ritual, "The blessing of the Mechanist is our shield, chaos will not defeat us."
Alixia held a star dart gun, Taktron checked his high-tech device, while Karenmu silently gripped a runic warhammer.
John made a forward gesture, and the team followed him, step by step towards the partially collapsed church due to subsidence. Their pace was firm, but not one of them felt that this mission would be anything but a tough battle.
As they entered the broken blockade, they could feel the strong chaotic energy more clearly. At that moment, the ground suddenly shook, and a dark crevice emerged at the bottom of the church, like a gateway to another world.
"Be prepared, we don't know what might come from there," said John solemnly.
John walked at the front of the group, holding his Mk14 energy pistol, creating a tense atmosphere. Alixia followed closely, one hand firmly on her star dart gun, ready to respond to any sudden threats. Taktron focused on his handheld device, trying to detect any abnormal energy flow in the surroundings. Finally, Karenmu held a mechanical scripture, silently reciting spells to dispel any potential lurking evil forces.
They jumped together into the third floor of the church that was being eroded by chaotic forces. The floor beneath them trembled slightly, as if the old building could collapse at any moment.
"Stay alert," John whispered, his eyes fixed on everything around them.
Fortunately, apart from some old and distorted decorations, they did not encounter any immediate threats. Probably due to the unstable strata, they noticed that some of the floors had already sunk, and some rooms had even completely collapsed.
"It looks like we're still lucky," Taktron said over the communicator.
As they carefully walked down the stairs, a loud noise suddenly came, and the ground sank. They instantly lost their balance, but due to their quick reactions, everyone managed to grab onto the handrail of the stairs or nearby pillars. The floor eventually stabilized, and amidst the flying dust, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"Is everyone okay?" John asked.
"Still able to move," Alixia responded, readjusting her posture and tightly gripping her weapon.
As they walked into the lobby on the first floor, a nauseating smell hit them. This place was supposed to be a sacred and pure place, but now it was filled with an unsettling atmosphere. The symbols of holiness on the walls were now covered with strange stains, as if they had been corroded by some evil force.
"Something's not right here," Karenmu frowned, gripping the sacred text of the mechanical teachings tightly.
"No one said this would be easy," John replied, reloading his pistol. "Stay alert, we don't know what else might be here."
They continued to venture deeper into the interior of the church, maintaining the highest level of vigilance while searching for the unknown threat lurking within this mysterious space.
John tightly gripped his energy pistol, took a deep breath, and said, "Whatever they have done here, our mission is to find them and end it. Are you ready?"
