As soon as he entered Luo Bingbing's room, he found the bed neatly made, with not even a shadow of Luo Bingbing in sight, let alone her presence.
In that moment, he realized that he and Lo An Lord had been outsmarted by the Little Doll. They both thought she was sleeping in her room, but little did they know, she had slipped away right under their noses.
Though he was furious, there was nothing he could do. He quickly floated up to the roof and used his keen sense of smell to search for Luo Bingbing's unique scent in the air.
After a while, he caught a whiff of the lingering scents of Luo Bingbing and the Snow Spirit Fox. Following that trail, he set off in search of her.
However, as soon as he left Prince Luo's Residence, he faintly detected the scents of Lo An Lord and Strategist Gongsun Ming. The subtle aroma wafting through the air puzzled the Snow Spirit Elder.
He couldn't help but mutter to himself, "What's going on? Those two are always at Prince Luo's Residence; how could their scent be here?"
Perplexed, he decided to set that question aside and continued following the residual scent of Luo Bingbing to find her whereabouts.
Before practicing her Ability, Luo Bingbing had already set up an invisible barrier around herself and the Snow Spirit Fox. Therefore, when Lo An Lord arrived at Purple Bamboo Forest and searched the bamboo grove, he found no trace of her and certainly no barbecue to enjoy.
Just as he finished his search and was about to head back east where he had started looking, Strategist Gongsun Ming suddenly appeared before him. Seeing Gongsun Ming approach made Lo An Lord feel a bit embarrassed, and he wanted to quickly hide.
But before he could even begin to conceal himself, Gongsun Ming had already spotted him. From a distance, Gongsun Ming saw someone standing on a large rock in the bamboo grove. However, it was too dark at night for him to make out who it was.
As he got closer, he realized that it was none other than his lord. Without thinking twice, he called out loudly, "My lord, please don't leave yet! Wait for me!"
Upon hearing his call, Lo An Lord knew there was no point in hiding anymore. He turned around stiffly and said, "Ah! It’s you, Gongsun! What brings you here?"
Strategist Gongsun Ming swiftly floated over to Lo An Lord and explained, "After you left, I suddenly remembered that the Little Princess mentioned she practices here every night. So I came over to see if she was here."
He paused briefly before continuing, "When I left the palace, I intended to invite you along! But then I recalled you had unfinished business to attend to and didn’t want to disturb you. So I came alone instead. I didn't expect you to arrive here before me!"
Lo An Lord listened carefully and forced himself to remain calm. He put on an icy expression and replied nonchalantly, "Oh, I finished my work in the study after a while. Feeling a bit restless, I decided to take a walk."
As he spoke, he moved toward the large rock and sat down. After settling in, he added casually, "I wandered around until I ended up in this Purple Bamboo Forest. And look at that—I just arrived when I ran into you." He would never admit that he came for the barbecue.
Upon hearing Lord Lo An's words, the strategist replied, "Oh, I see!" In truth, both of them were fully aware that they shared the same purpose: to savor the delicious roasted meat.
Meanwhile, hidden in the shadows, Lord Lo An's personal Dark Guard couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Tsk tsk tsk, this prince doesn't even bother to draft a plan before urging his men. His talent for nonsense is truly impressive. It's late at night, and instead of sleeping, he specifically comes out for a stroll—what a stroll it is, all the way to this desolate mountain area."
If Lord Lo An were to discover what his Dark Guard was thinking, he would surely be taken aback and might not remain so composed.
Seeing Lord Lo An sitting silently on a large rock, Strategist Gongsun Ming pretended to be casual and said, "Your Highness, since we have already come to the Purple Bamboo Forest, why not look around and see if the Little Princess has come here to practice tonight?"
Upon hearing this, Lord Lo An raised an eyebrow slightly. He didn't want to reveal that he had already searched the bamboo forest without finding Luo Bingbing. Instead, he simply replied calmly, "Hmm, let's go! We'll take a look around here."
Thus, Lord Lo An and Strategist Gongsun Ming began their search for Luo Bingbing in the Purple Bamboo Forest—or more accurately, for the roasted meat she had prepared.
As they slowly searched for Luo Bingbing's figure among the bamboo trees, Snow Spirit Elder had already followed the lingering scent left by her and arrived at the Purple Bamboo Forest.
Upon reaching the Purple Bamboo Forest, Snow Spirit Elder caught a whiff of their combined scents. He then followed those scents in their direction.
Due to Luo Bingbing's invisible barrier, they searched for quite some time without finding her. However, within the barrier, Luo Bingbing was well aware that the three of them had entered the Purple Bamboo Forest and were looking for her; yet she chose to ignore them.
Though they did not find Luo Bingbing, the three of them eventually crossed paths. Unsurprisingly, upon seeing them together, Snow Spirit Elder was furious. Without hesitation, he scolded both of them mercilessly.
While Lord Lo An and Strategist Gongsun Ming were focused on searching for Luo Bingbing in the bamboo forest, they failed to notice that Snow Spirit Elder had appeared behind them.
Seeing that these two had arrived before him and were standing together, Snow Spirit Elder felt a surge of anger. Without caring about anything else, he swiftly moved behind them and shouted loudly, "You two little rascals! How dare you leave me behind while you come here to enjoy roasted meat!"
Initially engrossed in observing their surroundings for any sign of Luo Bingbing, they were startled by Snow Spirit Elder's sudden voice from behind.
Quickly turning around at his words, Lord Lo An frowned slightly upon seeing the furious Snow Spirit Elder. Before he could speak up, Gongsun Ming beside him had already greeted Snow Spirit Elder first.
With a cheerful smile, Gongsun Ming said to Snow Spirit Elder, "Ah! It’s you, Senior! However, it seems you’ve misunderstood me and His Highness. We haven't eaten any roasted meat! We just felt a bit bored staying in the palace all day long and decided to take a walk at night."
"Then why are you wandering in this desolate mountain area instead of strolling around town? Besides," Snow Spirit Elder retorted immediately after hearing Strategist Gongsun Ming's words. "I can smell it; my dear disciple and that Snow Spirit Fox are also here."
"Um... we didn't want to disturb the citizens of Silver City, so we came out here to take a walk in the wilderness," the strategist continued to fabricate.
He was eager to cover up the lie, while Lo An Lord seized upon the essence of Snow Spirit Elder's words. As soon as the strategist finished speaking, Lo An Lord hurriedly asked Snow Spirit Elder, "Senior, did you really say that Bing Bing and the Snow Spirit Fox are in this bamboo forest?"
"Of course it's true. I followed their scent here," Snow Spirit Elder immediately replied after hearing Lo An Lord's question.
Lo An Lord and Strategist Gongsun Ming were both astonished by Snow Spirit Elder's words. Especially Lo An Lord, who had just searched this entire Purple Bamboo Forest alone without finding any trace of his beloved daughter. He had just been thinking that perhaps his beloved daughter hadn’t come here to practice tonight and was still sleeping in her room!
But now, hearing Snow Spirit Elder assert so confidently that his beloved daughter was indeed in this Purple Bamboo Forest completely overturned his thoughts.
On the side, Gongsun Ming listened to the conversation between Lo An Lord and Snow Spirit Elder. Initially surprised, he quickly became puzzled and asked, "Senior, you said you followed Little Princess and the Snow Spirit Fox's scent here? Did you not know she was practicing here before?"
Ignoring Gongsun Ming's first question, Snow Spirit Elder replied, "Oh, so my dear disciple is practicing here!"
After saying this, Snow Spirit Elder looked around but failed to spot Luo Bingbing's small figure. He couldn't help but feel confused.
Glancing at Lo An Lord and Gongsun Ming across from him, he asked, "Where is my dear disciple? Why can't I see her?"
Upon hearing this, Lo An Lord raised an eyebrow and replied calmly, "To be honest, Senior, we are also looking for her."
"Oh, you don't know where Little Doll is either?"
Lo An Lord and Strategist Gongsun Ming nodded in response to Snow Spirit Elder's question.
Gongsun Ming slightly nodded and slowly said, "We've searched half of this Purple Bamboo Forest and haven't seen Little Princess at all."
Snow Spirit Elder responded lightly, "I see! Then let's go look for her together! We can follow the scent left by Little Doll in the air; we should be able to find her."
After hearing Snow Spirit Elder's words, Lo An Lord quickly nodded and said, "Alright then, let's hurry and search!"
Thus, Lo An Lord, Strategist Gongsun Ming, and Snow Spirit Elder set off together to follow the lingering scent of Luo Bingbing and the Snow Spirit Fox in search of Luo Bingbing.
As they followed the lingering scent of Luo Bingbing and the Snow Spirit Fox in the air to the barrier set by Luo Bingbing, the scent suddenly vanished.
Seeing the scent disappear, the Snow Spirit Elder couldn't help but feel puzzled, unable to comprehend why it had vanished and unsure of where to search next. Without the lingering scent of Luo Bingbing as a guide, the Snow Spirit Elder found it impossible to locate her.
Behind the Snow Spirit Elder, Lo An Lord and Strategist Gongsun Ming noticed that their guide had suddenly stopped and was no longer moving.
Strategist Gongsun Ming immediately asked, "Senior, what's wrong? Why did you stop all of a sudden?"
"The scent of the child and the Snow Spirit Fox has disappeared here; I can no longer smell them ahead. So... I don't know where to search next," replied the Snow Spirit Elder, raising an eyebrow at Gongsun Ming's question.
Gongsun Ming was taken aback and asked, "Ah! You don't know how to find Little Princess either? Don't you have any other methods?"
After hearing his words, the Snow Spirit Elder gently nodded and said, "I can't think of any other methods either."
Lo An Lord felt confused after listening to Gongsun Ming and the Snow Spirit Elder's conversation. He couldn't help but wonder, "How could the lingering scent in the air just disappear?"
Puzzled, he furrowed his brows slightly and began to wander around casually. As he walked, he approached the barrier set by Luo Bingbing. Just as he was about to take another step forward, he heard the voice of the Snow Spirit Elder nearby.
The Snow Spirit Elder sighed despondently and said, "Let's go sit on that rock over there for a while. We can rest before looking in another bamboo grove."
Upon hearing this, Lo An Lord halted his steps and slowly turned towards the rock mentioned by the Snow Spirit Elder.
In truth, if he had taken just one more small step forward, he would have touched the barrier set by Luo Bingbing and discovered its peculiarity.
If he had thought a little deeper, he might have guessed that Luo Bingbing was right there. Yet they missed this opportunity and foolishly decided to search deeper into another bamboo grove.
As dawn broke in the east, the Snow Spirit Elder, Lo An Lord, and Strategist Gongsun Ming had searched through several circles in the bamboo forest but still found no trace of Luo Bingbing.
They turned around again and returned to where Luo Bingbing had set up her barrier. The three of them sat down on that rock once more. The Snow Spirit Elder sighed heavily and said, "Where could this Little Doll be hiding in this Purple Bamboo Forest? Why can't we find her anywhere?"
"I really wonder where this Little Princess has gone; it's so hard for us to find her!" Gongsun Ming echoed after hearing the Snow Spirit Elder's words.
After listening to them, Lo An Lord remained silent and did not speak. However, after a while, the three of them fell into an absolute silence.
Suddenly, the bamboo forest returned to its tranquil state under the night sky. Lo An Lord glanced at the sky and raised an eyebrow, saying, "It's almost dawn. I think we should head back to the palace."
Snow Spirit Elder and Gongsun Ming nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, let's go back to the palace."
Thus, the three of them, having found no trace of Luo Bingbing, activated their Lightness Skill and flew towards Prince Luo's Residence. Meanwhile, within the barrier, Luo Bingbing was fully aware of their actions.
Seeing that they had gone far away, Luo Bingbing stopped her cultivation and slowly opened her eyes. With a gentle wave of her hand, she dispelled the barrier surrounding herself and the Snow Spirit Fox.
The well-fed Snow Spirit Fox was still sleeping on the large stone where the meat was being grilled. After picking some leaves nearby to wrap up the grilled meat, Luo Bingbing walked over slowly.
She initially intended to quietly pack up the unfinished grilled meat before waking up the still-sleeping Snow Spirit Fox. However, just as she approached the grill, the Snow Spirit Fox suddenly woke up and quickly opened its eyes.
Upon seeing its owner—Luo Bingbing—the Snow Spirit Fox was overjoyed and promptly jumped down from the large stone, swiftly leaping onto Luo Bingbing's shoulder.
Seeing that the Snow Spirit Fox was awake, Luo Bingbing no longer tiptoed around but quickly packed up the remaining grilled meat with all her Speed.
Once she had wrapped up the grilled meat, Luo Bingbing swiftly channeled her Inner Strength and activated her Ability to teleport back to her room with the Snow Spirit Fox. As soon as they arrived in Luo Bingbing's room, the Snow Spirit Fox hurriedly jumped down from her shoulder and dashed towards its little nest.
After placing the grilled meat on the table, Luo Bingbing went to change clothes and prepare for bed. At this moment, Snow Spirit Elder, Lo An Lord, and Strategist Gongsun Ming were still on their way back to the palace; they had not yet entered the city and were flying along the road outside.
By the time they returned to Prince Luo's Residence, dawn had already begun to break, and many servants in the palace were already up and about their tasks.
Needless to say, when the doorman saw the three of them returning together, he could not help but express his surprise and murmur about it. Of course, his astonishment and whispers only occurred in places where they could neither see nor hear him.
After returning to Prince Luo's Residence, they each went back to their rooms to wash up and tidy themselves. Soon after, they gathered quickly in Piaoyun Pavilion’s courtyard without even blinking an eye or thinking about sleep.
It seemed that the temptation of grilled meat was indeed great!
When they arrived at Piaoyun Pavilion’s courtyard, Little Beggar Luo Yi had not yet gotten up to practice. They sat on a stone bench by a stone table closest to Luo Bingbing's room. While they chatted casually, their eyes occasionally glanced toward Luo Bingbing's door.
After the Nursemaid got up and walked out of her room, she saw the three masters still sitting on the stone benches where they had been the night before. Confusion filled her mind as she thought, "I clearly saw them leave last night. How could they be back here this morning? Did they return after I went to sleep?"
Despite her many questions, the Nursemaid was just a servant of the royal household, so she dared not approach the three masters for answers. As she passed by them, she bowed respectfully and then went about her own duties.
Meanwhile, Little Beggar Luo Yi woke up early as usual to practice his skills. He thought he would be the first to arrive in the courtyard again, just like the previous days.
However, when he entered the courtyard, he found that the three individuals who usually arrived later were already seated on the stone benches. To his surprise, he was the last one to arrive.
Seeing that they had come before him made him slightly anxious; he feared that these important figures would think he was lazy and become angry with him. With that thought in mind, he quickened his pace.
He hurried over to Snow Spirit Elder and, upon reaching them, bowed and apologized. However, Snow Spirit Elder and the others found his apology puzzling and were unsure of its meaning.
Lo An Lord, being the main figure among them, was the first to ask, "Luo Yi, what's wrong? What have you done?"
Upon hearing Lo An Lord's question, Little Beggar Luo Yi quickly replied, "Your Highness, I apologize for being late this morning. I felt I had done something wrong and came to seek forgiveness from you all."
As soon as he finished speaking, the three seated on the stone bench looked at each other as if everything made sense now. Before Lo An Lord could respond, Snow Spirit Elder spoke up, "It's fine, it's fine. Just go practice your skills over there; you don't need to worry about us."
After Snow Spirit Elder's words, the strategist beside him chimed in, "Yes! Yes! Hurry up and go practice! We have some important matters to discuss!"
Hearing their encouragement, Little Beggar Luo Yi quickly took his leave and hurried away to practice in the center of the courtyard.
Once he left, Lo An Lord, Snow Spirit Elder, and Strategist Gongsun Ming continued their previous conversation while occasionally glancing toward Luo Bingbing's door.
When the sun rose high in the sky, Luo Bingbing opened her door right on time. The Nursemaid entered with her washing supplies while Luo Bingbing was still busy getting ready. Meanwhile, Snow Spirit Elder and the others had already arrived at her door.
Seeing a large package of roasted meat on the table, they wasted no time and rushed over to grab it. Snow Spirit Elder was faster than both Lo An Lord and the strategist due to his superior skills and managed to snatch it first.
As soon as Snow Spirit Elder grabbed the roasted meat, he dashed toward the exit. He feared that if Luo Bingbing found out, he wouldn’t get any food at all. However, just as he reached the door, Snow Spirit Fox leaped out from its little den and blocked his path while barking loudly.
The three of them moved so quickly that Nursemaid remained frozen in shock at their antics and didn’t make a sound.
Luo Bingbing was in the bathroom on the other side of the room, completely unaware of what was happening. She never imagined that someone would come to steal her barbecue so early in the morning. Therefore, when she heard the cries of the Snow Spirit Fox, she didn’t pay it any mind and continued to wash up calmly.
Seeing the Snow Spirit Fox blocking his path, the Snow Spirit Elder quickly activated his Inner Strength and swiftly pressed on the fox's acupoints, immobilizing it. After silencing the complaining Snow Spirit Fox, the Snow Spirit Elder hurriedly left Luo Bingbing's room, followed closely by Lord Lo An and the strategist.
After stealing the barbecue, the three of them left Luo Bingbing's room, their hearts racing with fear that she might chase after them. They dashed toward Lord Lo An's study. Once inside, they quickly secured the door and hid inside to divide and secretly enjoy the barbecue.
The Snow Spirit Fox had strained itself yesterday using the Spirit Fox Clan's secret technique to send a message to Luo Bingbing and had not yet recovered. It lacked the strength to continue sending secret messages to her, so it could only obediently remain frozen in place as a wooden fox due to the Snow Spirit Elder's spell.
When Luo Bingbing finished washing up and stepped out, she noticed her nursemaid staring wide-eyed at the door. Confused, she followed the nursemaid's gaze and saw the Snow Spirit Fox standing motionless at the entrance, looking quite peculiar with its front legs slightly bent and baring its teeth in a fierce manner.
Seeing this sight made Luo Bingbing furrow her brow slightly. She calmly called out, "Little one, come here and tell me what's wrong."
She expected the Snow Spirit Fox to rush over to her as it usually did upon hearing her voice. However, to her disappointment, it remained still at the doorway.
Noticing that the Snow Spirit Fox was ignoring her, Luo Bingbing frowned again and prepared to step forward to ask what was wrong. Just as she lifted her foot, she heard a startled exclamation from her nursemaid.
Upon hearing Luo Bingbing speak to the Snow Spirit Fox, the nursemaid snapped back to reality. As soon as she saw Little Princess before her, she urgently exclaimed, "Little Princess! Little Princess! The old man and Prince have taken your barbecue from the table!"
