After hearing Luo Bingbing's words, the Nursemaid quickly smiled and said, "It's not hard at all, it's what I should do." After saying this, she paused for a moment and suddenly remembered that her Little Princess had not returned for several days.
So, she hurriedly asked, "Little Princess, where have you been these past few days? The old man said you were out doing something and would be back soon, but you've been gone for several days! The prince has been coming to Piaoyun Pavilion every day, asking me if you have returned. Just earlier, when I passed through the courtyard, the prince asked again!"
Upon hearing the Nursemaid's words, Luo Bingbing felt very puzzled and wondered who the old man mentioned by the Nursemaid was. So she asked, "Nursemaid, who exactly is that old man you mentioned?"
As soon as Luo Bingbing finished speaking, the Nursemaid quickly replied, "It's your master, the Snow Spirit Elder from Ling Mountain!"
Hearing this, Luo Bingbing immediately asked, "Did that old man come to the royal residence?"
"Princess, didn't you know? The old man came to Prince Luo's Residence a few days ago and has been staying in our Piaoyun Pavilion for several days now. He is still outside in the courtyard guiding the prince and others in their training!" The Nursemaid answered with confusion after hearing Luo Bingbing's question.
"Oh!" Luo Bingbing replied lightly but did not say anything further. However, she felt quite annoyed and couldn't help but slightly furrow her brows. But just for a moment, her frown relaxed.
She couldn't help but smile mischievously, her smile growing brighter. Yet inside her mind, she kept muttering, "Old Man, this time you're doomed..."
Seeing Luo Bingbing's radiant smile, the Nursemaid felt immensely happy as she thought that Luo Bingbing was delighted because the Snow Spirit Elder had come to Prince Luo's Residence. Little did she know that the Snow Spirit Elder was not actually her master at all; in fact, she despised that Snow Spirit Elder for impersonating her master and entering Prince Luo's Residence.
If only the Nursemaid knew what Luo Bingbing was truly thinking at that moment, she wouldn't know how to react.
After the Nursemaid put down the toiletries, Luo Bingbing chatted with her while washing up. By this time, she had already finished washing up. When the Nursemaid saw that Luo Bingbing was done, she informed her that she would take away the toiletries.
Just as the Nursemaid was about to leave the room, Luo Bingbing called out to her softly, saying, "Nursemaid, please wait a moment."
After a brief pause, she pointed to a roasted wild rabbit wrapped in large leaves on the table and said, "Nursemaid, this is what I specially brought back for you to eat last night; let's take it down together!"
Following Luo Bingbing's gesture towards the table, the Nursemaid saw a package wrapped in large leaves but had no idea what was inside.
She looked at Little One across from her with a puzzled expression. Upon receiving her questioning gaze, Little One slowly said, "Nursemaid, what's wrapped in those leaves is the wild rabbit meat I roasted by hand last night. You ate it before, remember?"
Upon hearing that it was roasted rabbit meat made by Little One last night, the Nursemaid became interested. She had tasted Luo Bingbing's roasted game before and knew it was delicious; thus she figured that the package on the table must be very tasty. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she lost herself in her thoughts and forgot everything around her. It wasn't until she heard Luo Bingbing's clear yet youthful voice that she snapped back to reality.
"Nursemaid, stop daydreaming and hurry over to get it to eat!"
After hearing Luo Bingbing's words, the Nursemaid quickly walked over to the table and picked up the package of roasted meat. However, just as she was about to leave with it, a Snow Spirit Fox suddenly dashed out from its corner nest and leaped onto Luo Bingbing's shoulder. It began to yelp loudly on her shoulder as if signaling her to keep that fragrant roasted meat and not let Nursemaid take it away; it wanted some too.
Luo Bingbing, although she did not understand what it was saying, knew that it wanted her to keep the roasted meat in the Nursemaid's hands and not let the Nursemaid take it away, but rather save it for itself.
So, Luo Bingbing gently patted its little head and slowly said to it, "Little one, this is for the Nursemaid. Besides, you ate so much last night; isn't that enough?"
Luo Bingbing raised an eyebrow and then pointed at the Snow Spirit Fox's belly, continuing, "Look at your little belly; it's still round."
After all, the Snow Spirit Fox was an animal. Upon hearing Luo Bingbing's words, it began to whine and continued to cry out. Luo Bingbing couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Just as she was about to scold it, she suddenly remembered how it had gotten its head bloodied while searching for Crimson Grass in the hot springs last night, ruining its appearance. Thinking of this made Luo Bingbing immediately fall silent.
Meanwhile, the Nursemaid had just lifted her leg when a small white fox suddenly sprang out from the corner. She recognized it as the Snow Spirit Fox that often followed her Little Princess.
However, when she saw the Snow Spirit Fox quickly leap onto the Little One's shoulder and continuously cry out while fixating its gaze on the package of roasted meat in her hands, she guessed that it wanted some of that meat. Although she couldn't understand what it was saying like Luo Bingbing, she could tell from its gaze.
The Nursemaid glanced at the package of roasted meat in her hands and then at the Little One and the little fox on her shoulder. Realizing that the package was quite large and that she couldn't eat it all by herself, she spoke up, "Little Princess, this little fox wants to eat some roasted meat, right? Since I can't eat all of this by myself, how about we share half with it?"
As soon as the Nursemaid finished speaking, before Luo Bingbing could respond, the Snow Spirit Fox eagerly nodded its head up and down in agreement with the Nursemaid's suggestion. Seeing this expression from the Snow Spirit Fox made Luo Bingbing slightly nod in approval, signaling to the Nursemaid to go ahead and give half of the Roasted Wild Rabbit meat to the Snow Spirit Fox resting on her shoulder.
With Luo Bingbing's nod of approval, the Snow Spirit Fox quickly jumped off her shoulder and swiftly leaped onto the Nursemaid's shoulder. The Nursemaid took this as a cue to excuse herself and leave. However, just after taking a couple of steps, the Snow Spirit Fox that had been on Luo Bingbing's shoulder had already jumped onto hers as well, seemingly wanting to accompany her to cut the meat.
Thus, the Nursemaid had no choice but to glance back at her Little Princess. She saw that Luo Bingbing gave a calm nod of approval for her to take the Snow Spirit Fox along. After receiving this signal from her Little Princess, the Nursemaid took the greedy little fox with her as they headed down.
After leaving the room with the Snow Spirit Fox, Luo Bingbing went to her desk and picked up a historical book. Sitting in a Carved Wooden Chair beside her desk, she casually flipped through it. She memorized anything useful while quickly skipping over what was not relevant. At that moment, the Nursemaid was leading the Snow Spirit Fox toward Piaoyun Pavilion's kitchen and happened to pass by where Lo An Lord and others were practicing.
The Snow Spirit Elder lay on a lounge chair in the yard, watching Little Beggar Luo Yi practice with great interest. Suddenly, his keen sense of smell detected a rich aroma of roasted meat in the air. Instantly energized by his love for food, he followed that enticing scent with his "dog-like" nose while his feet quickly followed suit.
As he sniffed along his path, he soon spotted the Nursemaid not far ahead. When she got closer, he saw the Snow Spirit Fox perched on her shoulder. Upon seeing it, he realized that his Little Doll had returned. Excited by this thought, he wanted to rush straight to her room.
However, just as he lifted his foot to go find Luo Bingbing, he became captivated by that delicious aroma of roasted meat wafting through the air. His love for food made him forget about finding Luo Bingbing entirely as he followed that enticing scent.
Since he was following that rich aroma of roasted meat, he ended up walking in a direction opposite to where the Nursemaid was headed. The two moved toward each other in a straight line until they quickly closed in on each other as the smell grew stronger.
The Snow Spirit Elder walked while sniffing closer and closer. His peculiar behavior caught the attention of Lo An Lord and Strategist Gongsun Ming who were still practicing in the yard along with Little Beggar Luo Yi. They all paused their training and looked at him with puzzled expressions as he followed that tantalizing scent.
From afar, Nursemaid noticed how strangely the Snow Spirit Elder was approaching her direction. Although she felt confused about his odd behavior, she did not stop moving forward because of it.
When he reached right in front of her following that rich aroma of roasted meat, both Nursemaid and Snow Spirit Elder were taken aback.
Nursemaid was stunned because she couldn't understand why this Snow Spirit Elder would walk straight toward her and block her path. She had intentionally given way earlier for him; yet here he was still blocking her way regardless of where she tried to go.
The reason the Snow Spirit Elder was stunned was that he saw the roasted meat he had been looking for on the tray held by the Nursemaid, which also contained toiletries. However, he only saw the layers of leaves wrapped around the roasted meat. Just as the Snow Spirit Elder was about to reach out for the meat wrapped in leaves, the Nursemaid spoke up.
The Nursemaid, looking quite puzzled, asked, "Old man, which way are you trying to go? I walk this way, and you follow me. I step aside to let you pass, and then you follow me again. Should I stand aside and let you go first? After you pass, I will follow?"
The Snow Spirit Elder, who had just raised his hand, quickly retracted it upon hearing the Nursemaid's words. He chuckled and replied, "Haha! I’m really sorry! The Old Man didn’t mean to block your way."
At this point, feeling a bit embarrassed, the Snow Spirit Elder paused slightly before continuing, "Um, Osmanthus! What you have wrapped in layers of leaves on that tray is roasted meat, right?"
Upon hearing the Snow Spirit Elder's question, the Nursemaid gently nodded and said, "Yes! Old man! This roasted meat was specially brought back for me by my Little Princess last night!"
As soon as the Nursemaid finished speaking, the Snow Spirit Elder responded, "Oh, my dear disciple has finally returned!"
Before the Nursemaid could reply, he immediately added with a thick-skinned demeanor, "The Old Man seems to have not eaten enough breakfast this morning; now I'm a bit hungry. How about… you let me have some of that roasted meat to fill my stomach?"
Although the Snow Spirit Elder used an inquiring tone, he left no room for the Nursemaid to refuse. It seemed as if Luo Bingbing truly was his disciple; his shamelessness rivaled that of the Great Wall.
After hearing his words, the Nursemaid was momentarily taken aback. Before she could respond, the Snow Spirit Fox on her shoulder showed a fierce expression towards the Snow Spirit Elder. The fox opened its mouth wide, revealing its sharp fangs and glaring menacingly at the Snow Spirit Elder.
Foxes are inherently cunning animals, and since this one was a Spiritual Connection fox that Luo Bingbing had previously unsealed and awakened its intelligence within, it could now fully understand human speech. Naturally, it was unwilling to let the Snow Spirit Elder take its roasted meat.
Coming back to her senses, the Nursemaid thought about how this Snow Spirit Elder was her Little Princess's master and chose to ignore the expression of the Snow Spirit Fox on her shoulder. She said, "Since you're hungry, please take it and eat! I will go prepare some wine and dishes for you right away."
