Luo Bingbing returned to the surface of the water and saw that the Snow Spirit Fox by the shore seemed to still be asleep. Not wanting to disturb it, she frolicked in the hot spring until she was satisfied and tired, finally stopping to float on the water's surface to rest. The warm spring water rose in gentle wisps, like mist, and Luo Bingbing found herself enveloped in this ethereal warmth, resembling a fairy who had accidentally fallen into the mortal realm. She played in the water, indulging in the joy of the hot spring, reluctant to leave its warmth.
After soaking long enough, she slowly swam toward the shore. Once on land, she quickly dressed and walked over to the large rock where the Snow Spirit Fox lay. Seeing that it was still asleep, she suddenly noticed that the Snow Spirit Fox seemed to have grown a bit larger. She couldn't help but wonder, "Hmm, why has the Snow Spirit Fox gotten bigger? What could this mean?" She looked around, puzzled and unable to figure it out. Finally, deciding not to dwell on it, she thought, "Forget it; I'll just wait for the Snow Spirit Fox to wake up and ask it."
The sleeping Snow Spirit Fox seemed to faintly hear Luo Bingbing's footsteps and woke up from its dream. It blinked its little eyes and looked at Luo Bingbing with a smile. However, noticing her puzzled expression, it thought, "Why does my master look so confused? Did something happen?" It tilted its little head and nudged Luo Bingbing with it. Seeing that the Snow Spirit Fox was awake made Luo Bingbing very happy, and she eagerly asked, "Little one, what happened? How is it that as soon as I healed your little fox head, you grew bigger?"
The Snow Spirit Fox had been feeling a bit apprehensive but realized after hearing Luo Bingbing's words that it indeed seemed to have grown a little. Its vision was clearer now; the fiery pain on its face had vanished without a trace, and its fox head had returned to its original state, no longer bloodied. It felt that all the strength it had lost had returned. Excitement bubbled within it.
When it was very small, its mother had told it that their spirit fox clan had been waiting for generations for a great mission. This mission involved waiting for an Otherworldly Divine Star to descend upon their world. After finding this Divine Star, they were meant to follow her forever and help protect this world. If they did not find this Divine Star in their lifetime, they would never grow up; however, when their lifespan was nearing its end, they would mysteriously become pregnant. After giving birth to their young foxes, their lives would soon come to an end, passing on this monumental task to the next generation.
But if the Otherworldly Divine Star arrived during their generation and they found her after some time together, an opportunity would arise for her to unlock their seals and awaken their intelligence. With this unlocking came growth in both their bodies and abilities.
The Snow Spirit Fox had previously been unaware that this Little One before it was indeed the Divine Star from another world—the very person it had been searching for and its destined master. It had only been captivated by the roasted meat prepared by this Little One. Now realizing that this Little One was the Otherworldly Divine Star awaited by its Spirit Fox Clan for millennia—the protector of this world and its destined master—it felt an overwhelming surge of emotion.
After hearing Luo Bingbing's words, the Snow Spirit Fox felt ecstatic; a mission unfulfilled by its clan for thousands of years was finally coming to an end through it. Since it had just unlocked its seal and intelligence and could not yet speak human language, it could only control its excitement while leaping onto Luo Bingbing's shoulder and barking excitedly in its own language. However, Luo Bingbing could not understand what it was saying at all.
Luo Bingbing listened for a while but couldn't comprehend what the Snow Spirit Fox was trying to communicate. Growing somewhat annoyed at its incessant barking on her shoulder, she turned her head and said, "Little one, stop barking! I can't understand you at all; hurry over there and eat some roasted meat!"
Upon hearing about roasted meat from Luo Bingbing, the Snow Spirit Fox quickly closed its mouth and jumped off her shoulder, racing ahead eagerly. The mention of roasted meat made it forget everything else—the great mission and its destined master were all pushed aside in an instant. Although it was incredibly fast with great speed, it still hadn't reached the delicious roasted meat yet.
Without a doubt, it was the invisible barrier set by Luo Bingbing that had blocked the Snow Spirit Fox. After this collision, the Snow Spirit Fox immediately realized it was being obstructed by the strange thing created by the Little One in front of it. Therefore, it quickly looked at the Little One with a pitiful gaze, its fox tail wagging incessantly, seemingly pleading for Luo Bingbing to remove the invisible barrier so it could go out and enjoy the delicious roasted meat.
Seeing the Snow Spirit Fox's pitiful eyes and its constantly wagging tail, Luo Bingbing understood that this little creature was eager to go outside for roasted meat. She swiftly waved her small hand and dispelled the invisible barrier. Once the barrier was down, Luo Bingbing said to the Snow Spirit Fox on the ground, "Little one, you can go out now. Hurry and enjoy your roasted meat!"
As soon as the Snow Spirit Fox heard Luo Bingbing say it could go out for roasted meat, it dashed forward without caring whether Luo Bingbing was following behind. Upon witnessing the Snow Spirit Fox's behavior, Luo Bingbing couldn't help but smile slightly, revealing a delightful expression.
Before long, the Snow Spirit Fox reached the fragrant roasted meat and, disregarding whether Luo Bingbing had come along or not, rushed to a roasted mountain chicken without fear of getting burned and began to eat heartily. By the time Luo Bingbing arrived at the roasting area, the Snow Spirit Fox had already finished off that Roasted Mountain Chicken and was preparing to attack another one nearby. However, Luo Bingbing said nothing; she simply walked over to it, took down the other Roasted Mountain Chicken, gently placed it beside the Snow Spirit Fox, and signaled with her eyes for it to eat quickly.
Yet, the Snow Spirit Fox's gaze remained fixed on the Roasted Mountain Chicken on the ground, completely oblivious to Luo Bingbing's silent cue, let alone responding with its eyes. As soon as it saw that Roasted Mountain Chicken fall to the ground, it rushed over to tear into it. Seeing its eager demeanor was nothing new for Luo Bingbing; after a slight smile, she took down a roasted wild rabbit from the grill, pulled off a rabbit leg, and used a hidden dagger to slice off pieces of meat from that leg, slowly chewing them.
By the time Luo Bingbing had finished half of her rabbit leg's meat, the Snow Spirit Fox had already devoured that Roasted Mountain Chicken. After finishing off the Roasted Mountain Chicken, the Snow Spirit Fox quickly approached Luo Bingbing and looked at her with those pitiful eyes again. Noticing this look from the Snow Spirit Fox once more, Luo Bingbing took another Roasted Wild Rabbit from the grill and tossed it to the side for the Snow Spirit Fox. The moment it saw that fragrant Roasted Wild Rabbit beside itself, it pounced on it eagerly.
The two of them—one person and one fox—were happily enjoying their roasted meat together. Gradually, only one Roasted Wild Rabbit remained on the grill. At this point, the Snow Spirit Fox had already eaten its fill; as for its Young Mistress Luo Bingbing, she had long since satisfied her hunger and was now sitting on a nearby large stone with her eyes closed in rest.
After finishing its meal, the Snow Spirit Fox walked over to Luo Bingbing's side and squinted its eyes while also closing them in rest alongside her. Feeling the presence of the Snow Spirit Fox nearby while resting with her eyes closed, Luo Bingbing slowly opened her eyes and glanced at the Snow Spirit Fox beside her before looking back at the grill. Seeing that there was still one Roasted Wild Rabbit left on it made her think about bringing that roasted rabbit back for Nursemaid. Thus, she got up to find some leaves nearby to wrap up that Roasted Wild Rabbit and returned to take it down from the grill. Once she had packaged it up properly, Luo Bingbing looked up at the deep blue sky. She noticed that many twinkling stars in the night sky were gradually diminishing; realizing this meant it was already early morning and dawn was not far off.
"Little one, let's go back," Luo Bingbing said calmly.
The Snow Spirit Fox, which had been resting on that large stone with its eyes closed, suddenly opened them wide upon hearing Luo Bingbing's words and leaped onto her shoulder from atop that stone. Seeing that the Snow Spirit Fox had settled comfortably on her shoulder, Luo Bingbing quietly activated her Inner Strength and Ability to teleport back to Prince Luo's Residence—specifically to her room.
As soon as the Snow Spirit Fox opened its eyes and realized they were back in Luo Bingbing's room, it quickly jumped off her shoulder and dashed toward its little nest. Observing that her companion had returned to its nest, Luo Bingbing walked slowly over to a table placed in the center of her room and gently set down the packaged roasted meat. Since it was already early morning by then and Nursemaid sleeping outside had long entered sweet dreams, Luo Bingbing did not want to wake her up. Therefore, she placed the roasted meat on her own room's table to wait until tomorrow morning when she could give some to Nursemaid.
Luo Bingbing surveyed her room but found no trace of dust anywhere. She knew that during these few days she had been away, Nursemaid must have come every day to clean up; hence there wasn't even a speck of dust left behind. Thinking about that silly yet warm-hearted Nursemaid made Luo Bingbing's lips curve into a faint smile. After changing into her sleepwear with that gentle smile still lingering on her face, she entered into sweet dreams.
Early the next morning, the Nursemaid habitually arranged the toiletries for Luo Bingbing before heading to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the Snow Spirit Elder and Little Beggar Luo Yi, who were staying in the guest room of Piaoyun Pavilion. After breakfast, Little Beggar Luo Yi was still the first to arrive in the courtyard of Piaoyun Pavilion to practice his skills, followed shortly by the Snow Spirit Elder, who often sat in Luo Bingbing's lounge chair, guiding them from the side as they trained. Of course, Lo An Lord and Strategist Gongsun Ming arrived soon after, and the four of them practiced and instructed as usual in the courtyard of Piaoyun Pavilion.
However, over the past couple of days, they had been discussing where Luo Bingbing had gone, as it had been several days since she had returned. The most puzzled among them was undoubtedly the Snow Spirit Elder. He was the last person to part ways with Luo Bingbing, and when he first arrived at Prince Luo's Residence, he had mentioned to Lo An Lord that Luo Bingbing had matters to attend to. It was just a casual remark, but he never expected that his offhand comment would turn out to be true. Indeed, Luo Bingbing had gone off to take care of something and had not returned for days.
That day, as the sun rose over the mountain peak, the Nursemaid once again stood at Luo Bingbing's door with the toiletries in hand, gently knocking on her door. She assumed there would be no response inside, just like in previous days when she thought her Little Princess had not yet returned. Just as she was about to push open the door to clean the room, she suddenly heard Luo Bingbing's clear and youthful voice from within. "Come in!"
The Nursemaid at the door was momentarily stunned by Luo Bingbing's words but quickly regained her composure. Holding the toiletries firmly, she pushed open the door and hurried inside while anxiously calling out, "Princess, Little Princess, you’re finally back!"
Once the Nursemaid approached her, Luo Bingbing lightly responded, "Yes, Nursemaid, thank you for your hard work."
