But she did not say anything further, lightly nodding at Shadowless, signaling him to put down the roasted meat and come over to practice.
After receiving Luo Bingbing's glance, Shadowless quickly placed the roasted meat on a nearby large stone and hurried to stand in front of Luo Bingbing, slightly cupping his fists and saying, "Please instruct me, my lord."
Upon hearing Shadowless's words, Luo Bingbing nodded slightly and said calmly, "Shadowless, I will first assess the results of your training this month." She paused for a moment, glanced at Shadowless across from her, and continued, "Launch a full-scale attack on me. Begin!"
"My lord, please be careful," Shadowless replied with a slight nod.
As soon as Shadowless finished speaking, he charged towards Luo Bingbing and launched a fierce attack. Seeing Shadowless's assault coming, Luo Bingbing quickly dodged to the side. She did not use her Ability but relied solely on her own skills. However, compared to the white-bearded and white-browed Snow Spirit Elder, Shadowless was far behind, so Luo Bingbing easily evaded his attacks.
Shadowless did not get discouraged; after failing to land a hit once, he launched another attack. Time after time, he failed to hit Luo Bingbing; all his attacks were dodged by her. Witnessing this situation left Shadowless dumbfounded as he thought to himself, "I clearly feel that I've made significant progress! Why am I falling behind in front of my lord?"
Meanwhile, Luo Bingbing was quite satisfied with Shadowless's performance. She knew that he had worked hard and made considerable progress. She couldn't help but think to herself, "It seems they haven't slacked off this month; they've all made breakthroughs."
However, the single-minded Shadowless did not realize that although he and the other assassins had undergone special training outside the Underworld for a month and achieved certain goals with significant progress, Luo Bingbing had been practicing diligently every night in the Purple Bamboo Forest. Her martial arts skills were inherently superior to theirs, making it nearly impossible for him to land a hit on her.
Despite continuously attacking Luo Bingbing without success—never even brushing against her clothing—he remained undeterred. He thought about how he needed to keep pushing himself; the sweat he had shed was still far from enough to meet his lord's standards.
Thus, his attacks became even more vigorous and comprehensive, with his Speed reaching its peak.
Seeing Shadowless's performance brought a slight smile to Luo Bingbing's lips as she revealed a pleasing expression.
After exchanging several hundred moves with Shadowless, Luo Bingbing finally called for him to stop. "Shadowless, that's enough."
While attacking Luo Bingbing, Shadowless was contemplating which weak point in her defense he should target next when he suddenly heard her call for him to halt. He quickly withdrew his attack and stopped.
At this moment, the sky was still shrouded in darkness; dawn had not yet arrived, and the hazy moonlight illuminated the ground.
Luo Bingbing looked at Shadowless before her with a calm demeanor as if she understood his thoughts and directly expressed her approval.
"Shadowless, not bad; you've made great progress. It seems that this month you didn't train in vain or waste time."
Shadowless was taken aback by Luo Bingbing's words and thought to himself in confusion, "I clearly haven't improved at all; why is my lord praising me?"
Although he felt puzzled inside, he did not voice it. However, his momentary distraction was noticed by the keenly observant Luo Bingbing.
Luo Bingbing spoke up to resolve Shadowless's doubts.
"Shadowless, you have indeed made progress. While you were training, I did not stop either; I was training here as well. Just as you have improved, I naturally have too. So, you need not doubt your initial judgment. In anything you do, the first step is to believe in yourself. Do you understand?"
After hearing the words of this Little One, Shadowless felt quite enlightened.
He knew he had improved and received his master's affirmation, which brought him great joy. The cold expression that had remained unchanged for a millennium finally showed a hint of change, with a slight smile appearing at the corners of his mouth.
But before he could fully enjoy this moment, he heard Luo Bingbing's clear and youthful voice. "Shadowless, is this place far from where you are training?"
Upon hearing Luo Bingbing's question, Shadowless quickly replied, "Reporting to my master, we found a relatively secluded place for training outside the Underworld, which is one of the Five Great Forbidden Lands and is quite far from here. Even if we ride horses and travel a thousand miles a day, it would still take several days."
After listening to Shadowless's words, Luo Bingbing frowned slightly and roughly calculated the time needed for her inspection of the Underworld.
She thought that since she had left Prince Luo's Residence openly, it wouldn't matter if she stayed outside for a few more days. However, it was late at night, and where could she find horses? She secretly decided to let Shadowless use Lightness Skill to fly! Using Lightness Skill would likely shorten the time and allow them to reach the Underworld faster.
Thus, she instructed Shadowless to fly using Lightness Skill while she used her Ability to walk through the air. The two of them hurried toward the Underworld. As they left, Luo Bingbing reminded Shadowless to bring along the remaining roasted meat for sustenance on the way.
The full moon hung high in the night sky, countless stars twinkling continuously as if trying to make people notice their existence and remember their fleeting brilliance.
In the night, two figures flew through the air rapidly toward the Underworld.
Celestial Shift, day and night alternated.
The eastern sky began to brighten with dawn; the twinkling stars slowly disappeared, leaving only the brightest star flickering—Morning Star—seemingly guiding away the darkness and heralding the arrival of dawn.
Luo Bingbing and Shadowless continued their hurried journey toward the Underworld, seemingly unaware of fatigue as they did not stop for even a moment, let alone rest.
Luo Bingbing felt no fatigue due to her Ability, while Shadowless had been a top assassin whose endurance was beyond that of ordinary people.
When the first ray of sunlight pierced through the clouds and illuminated Luo Bingbing, she realized it was daytime. Since both she and Shadowless were traveling through the air in broad daylight with such a significant target ahead, she instructed Shadowless to stop at a nearby town to rest and find two fast horses to ride to the Underworld.
They landed in front of an inn. Since it was still early morning, there were naturally no people on the street; thus, their descent from the air went unnoticed.
Just as Shadowless was about to knock on the door, it swung open from within. A thin old man with half his face covered in pockmarks and ulcers emerged, looking quite terrifying in his sixties.
Luo Bingbing maintained an expressionless face but kept a close watch on this strange old man. Upon seeing him, Shadowless recognized that this peculiar old man was none other than Five Poisons Elder from Five Poisons Mountain.
Years ago, there were rumors that the Five Poisons Elder had a very strange personality. Whenever he saw something that piqued his interest, he would capture it to use as his test subjects for poison, whether it was a person or livestock. His poisons were extremely potent, and without his unique antidote, they could not be cured at all.
Therefore, Shadowless felt quite nervous and quickly retreated to stand beside Luo Bingbing, protecting her behind him while cautiously watching the Five Poisons Elder in front of them.
