But as clever as he was, he did not point it out, not uttering a single word, quietly leading the way at the front.
The crowd grew increasingly impatient, and just as their eyes were about to bore holes into the ground from waiting, three figures suddenly appeared at the entrance of the hall. One was the butler, walking cautiously at the front; another was Luo Bingbing, her face cold and expressionless; and the third was a timid and frightened Nursemaid. Under the gaze of everyone, they slowly walked into the hall and stood in the center.
As soon as Luo Bingbing entered, all eyes in the hall fell upon her—some filled with fear, others with confusion, curiosity, and even resentment. However, Luo Bingbing was quite stingy with her attention, not even glancing at them. Instead, she quickly scanned the crowd with her eyes before stepping through the door and then began to play with her fingers as if performing a magic trick.
Lo An Lord and Strategist Gongsun Ming had their gazes fixed on her from the moment she came into view, not once diverting their eyes. They both had an instinctive feeling that this Little One before them was extraordinary. Despite seeing so many people in the hall, she showed no sign of panic, calmly playing with her fingers as if everything around her was beneath her notice.
From the moment the Princess and her Beloved Daughter, Luo Cai Feng, spotted Luo Bingbing, a raging fire ignited within them. They wished they could leap up and tear Luo Bingbing apart but dared not voice their anger. Instead, they exchanged resentful glances between the Nursemaid and Luo Bingbing.
Everyone in the hall shared a common question: “Is this Little One before us human or demon?” If she were a demon, why was she still here in this hall? Why didn’t she use her powers to make her tattered clothes look more presentable? The crowd was filled with confusion.
The butler took a few steps forward to report to Lo An Lord seated above: “Your Highness, the Little Princess has been brought here.”
Lo An Lord slowly withdrew his gaze from Luo Bingbing and nodded slightly at the butler. “You may leave now.”
“Yes.” The butler replied before retreating to his position.
Suddenly, in the center of the empty hall stood only two individuals in tattered clothing—Luo Bingbing and her Nursemaid—while everyone’s attention once again focused on them.
The Nursemaid had experienced half a lifetime; although she felt immense fear inside, she still steeled herself to step forward a few paces to greet Lo An Lord seated above. “This servant pays respects to Your Highness; may Your Highness be blessed!” Afterward, she bowed to several other lords and strategists before returning to Luo Bingbing's side.
Yet Luo Bingbing remained oblivious to everything around her as she continued playing with her fingers, seemingly unaffected by everyone’s scrutiny.
However, the strategist’s gaze remained fixed on the Nursemaid after her greeting. He felt that her figure resembled that of a woman who had stood beside a Young Boy last night; even her voice, demeanor, and fearful eyes were strikingly similar. The strategist was filled with curiosity, wanting to uncover answers from the Nursemaid’s presence.
In the hall, silence reigned, and everyone remained mute. The Princess could no longer speak; she could only communicate with Madam Xiang, who sat beside her, through her eyes, signaling for Madam Xiang to speak on her behalf.
After receiving the Princess's silent cue, Madam Xiang scanned the crowd in the hall. She noticed that most of the gazes were fixed on Luo Bingbing, who seemed oblivious to it all, continuing to play with her fingers without a hint of respect or acknowledgment towards her elders.
Madam Xiang couldn't help but think, "This little brat is so arrogant, completely disregarding her elders. Even with the Prince present, she dares to act so brazenly. I must teach her a lesson and bring down her arrogance."
However, cunning as she was, Madam Xiang understood the principle of not being the first to stick out like a sore thumb. She had only stepped forward because she wanted to make a good impression in front of Lo An Lord.
"Impudent! The Prince is here; why don't you hurry up and pay your respects?" Madam Xiang said sternly, her face darkened as she looked at Luo Bingbing.
Upon hearing her voice, everyone shifted their gaze away from Luo Bingbing and turned to Madam Xiang. Of course, there were exceptions—one was Lo An Lord, and the other was none other than Luo Bingbing herself.
Luo Bingbing treated Madam Xiang's words as if they were merely the wind passing by her ears, continuing to play with her fingers as if the people around her were invisible.
Lo An Lord's gaze remained fixed on Luo Bingbing without wavering. Upon hearing Madam Xiang's words and seeing Luo Bingbing still lost in her own world, he couldn't help but furrow his brows slightly. This child bore some resemblance to Rou'er in appearance, yet her demeanor was worlds apart. However, her audacity reminded him of himself—though he wondered what gave her such confidence. A demon? That was simply impossible...
Madam Xiang noticed that everyone was looking at her while Luo Bingbing continued to ignore her completely, engrossed in playing with her fingers.
A fire of rage ignited within her, threatening to burst forth and consume everything in its path.
In a fit of anger and humiliation, she shouted at Luo Bingbing, "Why do you act like a wild child? Don't you have any manners? Did your mother die without teaching you these basic rules?"
Her words seemed reasonable and genuine, as if she were concerned for Luo Bingbing. In reality, however, they were veiled insults aimed at belittling the girl while cleverly avoiding any foul language.
She indirectly accused Luo Bingbing of being a wild child without manners and implied that the Princess had failed in managing Prince Luo's Residence and fulfilling her responsibilities as a mother by not teaching her child properly.
Of course, her words were understood by some and not by others. The clever and thoughtful ones grasped the meaning, while the lazy and unthinking simply could not comprehend.
But who was Luo Bingbing? She was a powerful soul from a thousand years in the future. These word games presented to her were nothing more than child’s play, far beneath her.
Thus, upon hearing her words, Luo Bingbing swiftly moved in front of her, extending her small arms and hands, and with lightning speed, she slapped her several times. As she did so, she said, "Who do you think you are? How dare you shout at me? Whether I have rules or not is none of your business. Besides, you don't have the right to make me follow any 'rules.'"
After delivering the slaps and finishing her words, Luo Bingbing scanned the few so-called relatives in the hall one by one.
"You... you dare hit me?" The slow-to-realize Madam Xiang covered her face, staring in disbelief at Luo Bingbing standing opposite her with a cold expression. She had actually been slapped by this detestable Little Bitch. Anger and embarrassment twisted her once graceful and beautiful face into something somewhat ferocious.
"What if I did?" Luo Bingbing replied with a cold smirk. Anyone who dared to act so brazenly in front of her would be met with the same treatment, regardless of whether they were a king or not. And Madam Xiang was merely a lady—if one were to put it bluntly, just a concubine.
"You... you..." Madam Xiang stammered for a long time but couldn't articulate a coherent response.
Everyone was stunned by this scene. The Nursemaid was among them, staring blankly at Luo Bingbing and softly calling out, "Little... Princess!"
She couldn't help but wonder why the Little Princess appeared so cold and fierce. Even more astonishing was how agile and strong the Little Princess had become; she had managed to leave Madam Xiang's face red and swollen.
Oh no! The Little Princess has caused trouble. Realizing this too late, the Nursemaid hurriedly stepped forward to shield Luo Bingbing behind her.
