Li Wushuang, the daughter of Prince of Jiangxia Li Daozong, although delicate and graceful, did not understand the Yaoqin for her lord. She only envied those who concealed weapons within their sleeves, amidst the chaos of men and horses, with a murderous aura in the air.
In her haste to see her son previously, she had let down her guard. Now, returning to the palace alone on a dimly lit and secluded path, she knew she could not afford to be careless. Thus, she held her breath and focused, hearing the sound of movement behind her—light footsteps indicating an ambush. Suddenly turning around, she saw Anqiao with arms outstretched, fingers curled like claws, reaching for her shoulder!
Anqiao believed he had caught Li Wushuang off guard and felt no need to hide his face. He wanted her to clearly see his expression so that he could vent his anger.
Although the night was dark, the distant lights from thousands of homes and the cold night sky allowed her to make out the path ahead. If it had been completely dark, Li Wushuang would not have been walking alone. Seeing Anqiao act so brazenly, she realized that he was clever enough to have followed her and likely knew her secret!
As this thought crossed her mind, a strong killing intent surged in Li Wushuang's eyes. However, Anqiao was a stand-in for Qizong Nongsan and held considerable prestige both in court and among the people. If he were suddenly harmed, it would undoubtedly cause significant trouble.
To avoid mistakenly killing him, Li Wushuang feigned shock; she lowered her shoulder and slipped away with a soft gasp just in time to evade Anqiao's grasp, glaring at him in anger.
"Anqiao! How dare you ambush me at this late hour!" Li Wushuang exclaimed in shock and anger. Anqiao merely smiled sinisterly, halting his movements as he threatened her.
"My esteemed Queen, why pretend to be surprised? It is late at night, and you are not resting in the palace; how could you appear in such a cold place if not to wait for me?"
Seeing Anqiao's lewd and angry expression, Li Wushuang indignantly retorted, "I am following Zanpu's orders to discuss matters at the Great Discussion House. If you continue to speak nonsense and tarnish my reputation, I will report you to Zanpu without hesitation!"
Upon hearing this, Anqiao burst into laughter, clutching his stomach until tears streamed down his face. After a moment, he regained his composure and pointed at Li Wushuang.
"Queen, stop pretending. Zanpu is old; you suffer from unfulfilled desires in your youth. I already know your dirty secret. Tonight, let me properly comfort your body and mind so you can taste pleasure. Rest assured that one day I will satisfy you completely!"
Seeing Li Wushuang's flushed cheeks and taking in her curvaceous figure made it impossible for Anqiao to suppress his lustful thoughts any longer. He began spewing vulgarities as he prepared to approach and violate Li Wushuang.
"He truly knows everything!"
Li Wushuang sighed inwardly; if Anqiao had not discovered her intentions regarding the Great Discussion House, perhaps she could have spared him. But now that he had admitted it himself—despite being a stand-in for Qizong Nongsan and the son of Lord Qiang Bang Se—Li Wushuang could never let him go!
Anqiao looked at Li Wushuang, her eyes vacant and unfocused. He thought she was stunned by his presence, feeling a surge of joy as he reached out to embrace Li Wushuang. His lower abdomen burned with discomfort, and he wished to tear off all of Li Wushuang's clothing for a wild and passionate encounter.
However, Li Wushuang raised her eyebrows sharply, her eyes suddenly filled with murderous intent, and she kicked fiercely toward Anqiao's chest!
Anqiao, having some martial arts background and specifically trained in escape techniques, sensed the chilling wind at his chest. Despite Li Wushuang being a woman, this kick was extremely fierce!
"Hey!" Anqiao grunted, blocking the kick with both hands. Using the force of Li Wushuang's kick, he slid back like a paper kite, retreating a full yard.
Although he managed to block the kick in a moment of desperation, Anqiao's arms felt numb and painful, his wrists immobilized, causing alarm to rise in his heart.
"She... actually knows martial arts!"
After marrying into Tuguhun, Li Wushuang had always presented herself as dignified and gentle, embodying the grace of a national mother in front of the citizens. However, those within the Inner Palace knew well that this Tang Princess, while bringing advanced craftsmen and technology, did not receive much favor from Zanpu. Even Princess Chizun was treated similarly; they were merely used to establish an image and facilitate diplomatic relations between the two countries.
It was precisely because of this that many substitutes from Qizong Nongsan harbored wicked thoughts toward these two foreign Dukes. Based on their observations and understanding, they believed that although these princesses were not weaklings, they certainly lacked martial skills since no one had ever seen them take action or even walk quickly.
Now witnessing Li Wushuang's fierce and lethal moves, Anqiao was naturally horrified. However, being a man consumed by desire at that moment, he could hardly resist his lust for Li Wushuang. Instead of fleeing after blocking her kick, he still entertained thoughts of subduing her for humiliation!
Men often seek the greatest pleasures through their lower halves but frequently commit the most fatal mistakes because of them.
With murder in her heart, Li Wushuang would not hold back. Seeing that Anqiao still hadn't realized the danger he was in made her coldly amused. He did not know that she understood martial arts, but she was very clear about his level of skill.
These substitutes often boasted about their prowess in the palace, showcasing their hidden talents frequently. It would be difficult for Li Wushuang not to notice. At this moment, seeing him whip out his belt to use as a whip, she merely snorted coldly. She dashed forward several steps, her fingers like knives as she struck toward Anqiao's neck with lightning speed.
As Anqiao swung the jade belt like a short whip to strike at Li Wushuang's hand, she suddenly changed tactics. Her body became soft and flexible as she evaded the sweeping strike of the jade belt. With her left palm gently pressing against Anqiao's chest.
Anqiao was greatly alarmed at first; however, after a moment, he felt that Li Wushuang's palm was soft and powerless. His heart relaxed as he thought quickly: "After all, she is a woman; she must have come to her senses... Hehehe..."
Li Wushuang saw the wicked smile still lingering at the corner of his mouth and could only shake his head helplessly. He stepped forward, drawing the power of the earth into his legs, and with a twist of his waist, he channeled this immense force into his left palm, unleashing his internal energy with a deep shout.
"Go!"
Anqiao felt a sudden numbness in his chest, as if an elephant had stomped on him, overwhelming him with pain that flooded every nerve!
With a thud, Anqiao was sent flying by a single palm strike and crashed heavily to the ground. He struggled to catch his breath, but instead coughed up a mouthful of blood!
As the blood spewed forth, his breath slowly returned to his chest and lungs. Just as the pain began to ease slightly, Li Wushuang attacked again!
"Queen, spare me!" At this critical moment, Anqiao finally realized that this Queen was more skilled than he was and had already made up her mind to kill!
He had calculated everything perfectly; all his dreams seemed to be waiting for him. Yet he overlooked one crucial point: he did not know that Li Wushuang was skilled in martial arts and far superior to him!
At this moment, he felt extreme regret. If it weren't for his wicked thoughts, he should have returned to his residence first, secured the secret for survival, and informed his trusted subordinates. Then he could have threatened Li Wushuang without worry. Wouldn't that have ensured everything went smoothly?
But he had acted in haste, and now information was difficult to convey; he couldn't leave any traces behind. Once Li Wushuang killed him, the secret would be safe. In this secluded darkness, perhaps no one would discover his body even during the day!
"This is fate!" Anqiao sighed inwardly, then his eyes ignited with fury as he nearly roared, "In my next life, I will kill..."
Bang!
Before Anqiao could finish his sentence, a stone smashed into his head like a watermelon!
Over the years in Tuguhun, Li Wushuang had lived under someone else's roof. On the surface, she appeared glamorous, but within the Inner Palace, she had endured countless grievances. Even someone like Anqiao, a mere Zanpu substitute, would frequently disturb her. She had long been filled with rage; after years of suppressed grievances and frustrations, she finally found an outlet!
With only half a shattered head remaining, Anqiao was truly horrifying to behold. Yet Li Wushuang felt no fear at all; her heart was filled with satisfaction. A person like him deserved to die a hundred times over without being innocent. Li Wushuang bore no psychological burden whatsoever.
Li Wushuang organized her clothes and was about to leave the scene, but she paused, thought for a moment, and turned back. She searched Anqiao thoroughly, throwing all of Anqiao's belongings into a nearby muddy pond before leisurely walking back.
Anqiao was dead, but Li Wushuang did not let her guard down. The fact that Anqiao could track her meant that her movements had been leaked. Aside from a few trusted sisters of Caesar, there were very few people in the palace who knew her whereabouts.
Thinking of this, Li Wushuang couldn't help but feel despondent. When she first arrived, the palace female slaves treated her with courtesy, but gradually, due to Qizong Nongsan's private disdain for her, these people lost their respect. Only two or three continued to serve Li Wushuang with admiration.
Li Wushuang reciprocated their kindness and was particularly friendly towards these two or three individuals, treating them as close confidants. However, she never expected that someone would betray her!
In other matters, she could overlook past grievances and not pursue the issue, but in this case, there was absolutely no room for negotiation. If the person who betrayed her whereabouts also knew this secret, her fate would be the same as Anqiao's!
While pondering this, Li Wushuang returned to the palace with intense killing intent. At that moment, Xu Zhen and Li Mingda had already found the Temple Master of the Zoroastrian Temple with the help of Zuo An and Jewel Girl.
Zuo An was from a scouting background, and Jewel Girl practiced the way of assassins, having learned directly from Caesar. How could they not know that Qinsuo Luo was searching for Xu Zhen and Li Mingda?
They were already familiar with the terrain and routes of Lhasa City. With Xu Zhen and Li Mingda in tow, they quickly shook off Qinsuo Luo's men and then headed towards Xiao Zhao Temple in the northwest corner of Lhasa City.
(Note: The great Tang women refer to themselves as "slave" or "child," while queens generally refer to themselves as "concubine," "I," or "we." It is rare for them to refer to themselves as "this palace.")
