In this chaotic world, where is there not smoke and flames? Goguryeo was experiencing internal strife at that time. Cheon Gae Su Mun killed Rongliuwang, executing hundreds of officials, and proclaimed himself Great Mo Li Zhi. He then installed Rongliuwang's nephew Gao Baozang as king, effectively holding the emperor hostage to command the realm, monopolizing military and political power.
This man was inherently cruel and warlike, ruling with brutal oppression internally, causing the people to suffer greatly and voice their grievances. Externally, he actively waged wars, allying with Baekje to attack Silla, igniting conflict. The common folk were left destitute, with nine out of ten households empty.
The Goguryeo people occasionally raised their banners in rebellion, supporting Rongliuwang's legitimacy, but they were all violently suppressed by Cheon Gae Su Mun. His soldiers were often bandits who used the pretense of eradicating bandits to plunder everywhere, harassing and oppressing the populace, leaving them in despair.
Tuolang was originally a pure land in the southwest corner of Gaimu City. Due to its proximity across the river from the Tang Dynasty, the people secretly engaged in trade there, making it somewhat wealthier than other places. However, it was unexpectedly occupied by bandits who declared themselves Western Martial General, bringing suffering to the people.
At this time, Princess Jinyang and her companions stealthily entered amidst the rain but soon heard shouts and neighing ahead. They hurriedly hid in the woods beside the path. Before long, they saw a group of barefoot rogues fleeing in panic. These rogues were ragged and dragging their wives and children along, including many young women and strong men.
After enduring banditry, the residents of Tuyang City had been completely plundered; there was no food left at night. Now this Western Martial General had set his sights on capturing people.
Strong young men could be conscripted into the army, while young women could be sold as slaves or servants. If one could select one or two particularly beautiful ones, it would be a lucrative deal.
Behind this group of rogues was a troop of about forty men wearing Vine Armor and wielding bamboo spears. They laughed boisterously as they trampled through the mud without attempting to intercept the rogues; instead, they pursued them like cats playing with mice.
The rogues cried out in despair. Among them was a tall man with sunken cheeks who could no longer endure it. He randomly grabbed a stone and prepared to throw it at the horsemen behind him!
One of the cold-blooded bandits in the horse troop unstrung his bamboo bow from his back. A slender arrow pierced through the rain curtain and shot into the man's chest. He fell to the ground but did not die immediately; his family rushed over in horror, wailing loudly.
The rogues ahead only glanced back briefly, filled with numbness and indifference. They paid no heed to the family left behind and continued their desperate flight forward.
The man who had been shot coughed up blood foam before quickly succumbing. Beside him was a middle-aged woman whose face was pale as paper, holding onto a half-grown boy. The boy gritted his teeth and snatched the stone from his father's hand, ready to charge forward again but was tightly held back by his mother as she dragged him towards the rogues. The sounds of rain mixed with cries and the bandits' sinister laughter weighed heavily on Xu Zhenxin's heart as he gripped his knife tightly!
Gou Renwu was also filled with righteous indignation and unstrung his Rhinoceros Horn Bow from his back but was held back by Qingxiazi’s hand on his shoulder.
Due to this family's delay, it ultimately affected the escape speed of the rogues. Many bandits felt bored with their game; it was time to reap their rewards as they charged forward to intercept everyone.
The Bandit who shot the man seemed to have taken a liking to the middle-aged woman's looks. He dismounted without caring about the muddy ground, grabbing the woman's hair and throwing her to the ground. The Brat picked up a stone and rushed over to rescue her, but was kicked away by the Bandit.
The middle-aged woman crawled towards her son, her voice hoarse from crying out. The Bandit, however, remained indifferent, seizing the torn back of her clothing and tearing it off with a rip, exposing her pale body like that of a white fish. In the cold rain, it was filled with a sense of despairing beauty.
The other Rogue members pressed their lips together, their eyes filled with sorrow and anger, yet no one dared to step forward to help. Many Bandits dismounted and began to capture the women among the Rogue group.
Seeing the middle-aged woman's fair body, the Bandit's eyes lit up as he picked her up. She struggled desperately, but he pointed at the child on the ground and threatened loudly. The woman's gaze dimmed instantly, blood oozing from her bitten lip as she finally ceased her struggle, allowing the Bandit to throw her onto his horse.
The Bandit sneered repeatedly and was about to mount and leave when suddenly, the child sprang up from the ground, clinging to the Bandit's thigh and biting down hard!
"Ah Su La!"
The Bandit cursed loudly as he kicked his leg, sending the child flying across the ground. Furious, he drew his knife, ready to kill this Brat on the spot!
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The sound of slicing air was as subtle as a snake emerging from its hole. A flying knife embedded itself in the forehead of the Bandit, piercing straight into his skull without a drop of blood spilling out!
A White Feather suddenly arrived, shooting into the left chest of the Bandit, striking him squarely in the heart. The powerful force of the arrow sent him flying backward!
The attackers were none other than the furious Xu Zhen and Gou Renwu!
Although they were slightly outnumbered, each of them was a top-tier expert. The Xu Zhen was the first to rush out from the forest, feeling for her waist where four or five flying knives were ready in hand. She unleashed them simultaneously; before those Bandits could react, three had already fallen!
Just as Gou Renwu was about to draw his bow for a powerful shot, a dense Arrow Rain suddenly shot out from within the thick forest. Every arrow found its mark, taking down nearly ten Bandits in an instant!
With the cover of Arrow Rain, a group of Brutes wearing rain hats surged forth. They were not clad in armor, their attire resembling that of Rogues, yet their eyes held something more—anger and defiance!
They wielded bamboo spears, some brandishing kitchen knives and sickles, but at the forefront was a woman. She was tall and athletic, her tattered clothing failing to conceal her skin as smooth as jade, her curves evident. In her hand, she gripped a broadsword, likely used by a Former Sui General, its cold gleam shining as she charged into the Bandit ranks!
"How is this possible! How can it be her!"
Gou Renwu felt a storm brewing in his heart. Qingxiazi and Left Dark and Jewel had already rushed out with Xu Zhen. He hid in the forest, shooting arrows for cover, but when he caught sight of the woman's true face, he dashed out without hesitation!
As he ran, he fired arrows in rapid succession, each Bandit falling in his wake!
After throwing her throwing knives, Xu Zhen drew her long blade and charged into the bandit horde like a tiger descending from the mountain. Blood sprayed into the air wherever her blade passed; she darted left and right as if in an uninhabited realm, quickly attracting the attention of many Bandits who surrounded her!
Needing to remain hidden, Xu Zhen did not wear Red Armor. Armed only with her long knife, she slaughtered fiercely. The humiliations suffered by Rogues replayed in her mind, her eyes filled with the flames of rage!
These Bandits were only protected by Vine Armor; how could they withstand the sharp edge of Xu Zhen's blade? However, due to their sheer numbers and Gou Renwu's focus solely on that mysterious woman, he momentarily lost concentration. Three Bandits suddenly lunged at Xu Zhen!
Xu Zhen knocked one Bandit aside and reversed her grip on the long knife, using all her strength to pin the Bandit to the ground. But this left her back exposed; a bamboo arrow whistled toward her. Sensing danger, Xu Zhen swung her knife to deflect the arrow, but a Bandit's bamboo spear silently thrust toward her from the left!
"Watch out!"
Gou Renwu shouted a warning as he drew his bowstring back in one motion. Just as he was about to release it, a Bandit suddenly lunged at him and knocked him to the ground!
Xu Zhen heard the warning but had no time to evade. She hurriedly took a deep breath and unleashed the Seven Sacred Blade Secret Technique; her back muscles rippled as she braced herself for the incoming spear!
"Thud!"
The dull sound of flesh being pierced echoed as Xu Zhen watched the bandit who had ambushed her fall to the ground, a blade commonly used by Sui General embedded in his back.
This blade was long and narrow, with a slightly curved body that resembled the waist of a beautiful woman, showcasing its streamlined beauty. The hilt was wrapped in silk thread, and the guard was adorned with jewels, truly a rare and precious weapon!
A snow-white jade hand grasped the hilt. Xu Zhen slowly followed the hand up to see a female hero from Goguryeo's rogue faction.
"Thank you!"
Xu Zhen expressed her gratitude in slightly awkward Goguryeo Language, but the woman merely snorted coldly, seemingly filled with hostility towards her. Xu Zhenxin was puzzled, unsure how he had offended her, and before he could ask, he saw another bandit charging at the woman from behind, wielding a large knife raised high, ready to strike!
"Watch out!"
The woman had no time to react to the warning. In a moment of desperation, Xu Zhen sprang into action, wrapping her arms around the woman's waist and pulling her close. Their chests pressed together as Xu Zhen twisted her body, spinning the woman half a turn while extending the long knife behind them, piercing through the bandit’s abdomen!
With a successful strike, Xu Zhen let out a long sigh of relief. It was then that she felt the warmth and softness of the woman's chest against her own. Instinctively looking down, she was stunned by the woman's perfect curves, momentarily losing her breath.
Just as her thoughts wandered, the woman slapped her across the face, leaving Xu Zhen's left cheek burning with pain!
With a forceful shove, the woman knocked Xu Zhen to the ground and turned to leave, seemingly venting all her anger towards Xu Zhen onto the remaining bandits. Like an enraged mother leopard, no one could stand in her way!
Xu Zhen lay in shock on the ground, watching the woman's graceful and powerful figure. Her heart raced as she finally regained her composure and charged back into the fray against the bandits!
Gou Renwu was suddenly tackled to the ground by an attacking bandit but remained calm. Grabbing an arrow shaft, he thrust it backward with force, driving the arrowhead into the assailant's shoulder. Gou Renwu then twisted free and used his Rhinoceros Horn Bow's string to choke the bandit’s neck; with a sudden twist, the bandit's head fell cleanly from his body, leaving a chilling sight!
With over forty bandits caught off guard, Xu Zhen's side fought fiercely like dragons while the rogue faction led by the woman was equally fierce and brave. In just a short time, only three or four bandits remained!
The Bandit knew that if he fell into the hands of the Six Rebels, he would surely meet a terrible end. In a desperate last stand, he was shot down one by one by Gou Renwu's volley of arrows.
The Refugee Resistance Army also suffered many casualties, yet there was no sorrow on anyone's face; instead, there was joy and excitement after killing these Bandits.
"We won! We won!"
A Rogue shouted loudly, while others raised their makeshift bamboo and wooden weapons, their cheers seemingly dispersing the rain.
The Xu Zhen took off her robe and wrapped it around a middle-aged woman who had almost been abducted. The woman's eyes were vacant, her pale lips still moving, and her body trembled uncontrollably, clearly terrified by the slaughter.
The Brat, having narrowly escaped death, rushed over and stumbled into his mother's embrace, causing her to cry out.
Seeing that his mother was unharmed, the Brat quickly knelt before the Xu Zhen and bowed his head. She helped him up and instinctively gave him a thumbs-up. The boy did not understand but felt the praise and encouragement from the Xu Zhen. He also raised his thumb in response. The Xu Zhen smiled lightly and patted the boy's head.
The surrounding Refugee Resistance Army continued to clean up the aftermath, decisively finishing off the wounded Bandits with practiced movements and without hesitation. A woman glanced secretly at the Xu Zhen and turned away in disgust upon seeing the gratitude in the eyes of the Brat and the middle-aged woman.
At that moment, she realized three people were standing in front of her. When she saw Gou Renwu's face, she couldn't help but shed tears. Gem then rushed into the woman's arms, speaking excitedly in Goguryeo Language, unable to articulate clearly due to emotion.
