"That was in the past, and don't mention it again," Chuxiong said sternly.
Chu Feifan quietly looked at his father and suddenly said calmly, "Now in this world, you are my only family. I don't want to lose you, so I hope that the case we are dealing with now has nothing to do with you. As for why that room in our house is the same as the room in that strange villa, I hope you can tell us."
Chu Feifan's tone was earnest, no longer filled with anger as before.
"How do you know about that villa?"
Chuxiong's words startled them, and they immediately looked at him nervously.
"Don't misunderstand; I was just asking casually." Chuxiong realized he had misspoken, coughed lightly, and then sat back down on the sofa.
"Does the chairman know about that villa?" Su Jin'er, who had been silent, asked.
Chuxiong looked up at her. Her clear eyes gazed back at him without a hint of fear, only curiosity. She was very beautiful; just standing there quietly drew attention.
"You must be Su Jin'er, right?" Chuxiong asked softly.
"Yes!"
"Very good, very courageous. You would be suitable to be my son's girlfriend," he said with a chuckle, deliberately avoiding the previous question.
"Chairman, can you answer my question?" Su Jin'er asked again, unwilling to let go of any potential clues.
Captain Xing also waited calmly for his response. Chu Feifan glanced at him and then stubbornly turned his head away. In truth, he also wanted to know the answer but was afraid. He feared that this case might be related to his father; he never expected it would eventually lead back to him.
"I don't know!"
Chuxiong remained calm, a faint smile on his face as he slowly stroked the ring on his pinky finger. Su Jin'er noticed it was a woman's ring with a small diamond on it. She found it strange that he wore a woman's ring, and considering his wealth, why would he buy such a small one? She looked at Captain Xing; he seemed to have noticed too and was intently observing Chuxiong's actions.
Chuxiong seemed to have noticed as well. He straightened his posture and stopped fiddling with the ring, saying, "Alright! Since you want to know, I'll tell you. That villa was built by me for my wife. As for the reason, I think you should be quite clear about that. If there's nothing else, I need to return to the company. If you wish to continue your visit, let my son entertain you on my behalf!"
Chuxiong had remained calm throughout, only showing a hint of excitement when the villa was mentioned. Other than that, there was nothing unusual about him, yet this still left them suspicious. Chu Feifan was not happy either; his frown deepened as he failed to find any evidence of his father's wrongdoing.
"My goodness, we forgot something," Zuo Yi suddenly spoke up after being silent the whole time.
"What is it?" Su Jin'er asked.
"Don't you all remember? After entering the villa, Feifan was knocked out and when he woke up, he was in his own room. We should ask how that happened!"
Zuo Yi's reminder made their brows furrow even deeper. However, Chu Feifan suddenly said, "This isn't hard to figure out."
After saying that, he called out to Xiao Ling, the maid who had opened the door for them. She quickly ran over and respectfully said, "Young Master, what is it?"
"I've been at school all this time. Why did I wake up at home the day before yesterday?"
"Young Master, I don't know!" Xiao Ling lowered her head and didn't dare to look up at him.
"Really don't know?" He emphasized his tone and asked again.
"Young Master, I..." Xiao Ling suddenly knelt on the ground, her body trembling uncontrollably.
"If you know something, just say it."
"That afternoon, I was about to go out to buy groceries. As soon as I stepped outside, I saw you lying on the ground, so I called someone to carry you inside."
Chu Feifan frowned and asked, "What did I look like at that time?"
"You are drunk, reeking of alcohol, and your clothes are dirty."
Chu Feifan glanced at Su Jin'er apologetically. He had never been so drunk that he lost consciousness, and he clearly went to that villa, so how could he end up drunk lying at his doorstep?
"Get out! Also, about the matter I inquired about, you are not to tell the master!"
"Yes, young master!"
Xiao Ling stood up, and Su Jin'er saw her let out a heavy sigh of relief. Not only did she find it amusing, but she also realized that the always refined Chu Feifan could also be intimidating. She looked at Chu Feifan sideways, curious about which version of him was the real one.
Chu Feifan felt her gaze and awkwardly said, "You know, I really didn't drink that day."
Seeing his nervous expression made Su Jin'er chuckle. "I'm not laughing at you for being drunk; I just suddenly realized that you can be temperamental too."
Her words left Chu Feifan in a cold sweat. He looked helplessly at the still-laughing Su Jin'er, unsure of what was going through her mind. However, as long as she could still laugh, he felt content.
"Since your father doesn't mind us visiting your home, why don't we go upstairs and take another look? Maybe we can discover something," Captain Xing said thoughtfully as he looked up at the three of them.
Everyone agreed unanimously, and several people went upstairs together. This time, however, they were not as cautious as before.
Chu Feifan took out the key from earlier but found that it no longer fit in the lock. He exclaimed in surprise, "No wonder he let us explore freely; it turns out he changed the lock when we weren't aware."
Captain Xing's lips twitched slightly; Chuxiong was indeed difficult to deal with. His words had almost no flaws, making it impossible to doubt him.
"He still underestimates me," Chu Feifan said with a smile. Then he slipped into his room and came out a moment later holding something that resembled a piece of wire.
"Are you going to use that to pick the lock?" Su Jin'er asked.
"En!"
He skillfully inserted the wire into the lock and carefully felt the sensations in his hand.
After about five minutes, a smile finally appeared on his face: "He really is cautious, but no matter how good the lock is, it can still be opened by me."
He gently turned the doorknob, and the door opened.
"How did you learn to pick locks?" Su Jin'er asked curiously.
Chu Feifan glanced at Zuo Yi and said, "I met a locksmith while traveling before, and he taught us."
They entered the room and once again examined every corner carefully.
"What do you have in your hand?"
"This? This is something from a computer keyboard," Chu Feifan proudly waved the wire in his hand.
