Finally, Chen Haoxuan managed to temporarily calm Chen Xiumin's impulse to marry him by telling her to wait until she turns 18. If she still liked him then, they could talk about it.
In fact, Chen Haoxuan was thinking of helping her find a boyfriend before she turned 18, so he wouldn't have to worry about her wanting to marry him when she grew up.
The next day, Chen Haoxuan disguised himself and went to Dragon Group. He wanted to ask Speedster for a good motorcycle and see how Dragon Group had developed.
When Chen Haoxuan reached the edge of the grassland, he called Speedster to come pick him up.
After waiting for a few hours, when he saw Speedster's motorcycle, he was overjoyed. He loved that kind of motorcycle. He had to admit that Speedster was excellent at designing vehicles, even better than him. As Chen Haoxuan stroked the motorcycle that Speedster rode in on, he couldn't help but exclaim, "The bike is a bit large, but that doesn't detract from its image; it actually looks cooler. The design resembles a powerful tiger ready to pounce at any moment, with four exhaust pipes—two real ones and the other two must be accelerators if I'm not mistaken..."
Speedster leaned against the motorcycle, his glasses squinting as he watched Chen Haoxuan. Every time Chen Haoxuan spoke, he couldn't help but smile smugly. He thought to himself, "Your technology is impressive; the motorcycle you designed surpasses this era by decades. I admire you. However, when it comes to utilizing this motorcycle effectively, only I can maximize its advantages."
"Not bad, not bad; this motorcycle is incredible—it's simply unbeatable," Chen Haoxuan kept praising. This motorcycle was the most advanced mode of transportation he had seen in 21 Design.
"Of course! Because I designed it! Haoxuan, let me tell you! I made two large motors for this bike myself, so its speed has already exceeded over a thousand kilometers per hour—almost as fast as an airplane," Speedster boasted.
Chen Haoxuan had seen such speeds in Future Century before, so he wasn't overly surprised. He was just curious and asked Speedster, "Speedster, what's the point of having such a fast motorcycle? At over a thousand kilometers per hour, people would be flying off it; how would you even ride it?"
Hearing Chen Haoxuan's question made Speedster even prouder. He replied confidently, "Hehe, that's the key! Let me tell you, if the road is relatively straight, reaching a thousand kilometers per hour is possible because this motorcycle weighs several times more than a car. Ordinary people can't handle it. The reason it's so heavy is that all the materials used are forged from various hard minerals."
"It also has another advantage: weapons below missile level can't destroy it. This motorcycle runs on gasoline; to make it last longer, I've refined the gasoline so that one fill-up can last for several days. I've also added several generators that generate electricity from the rotation of the wheels. So if you run out of gas, you can use electricity instead. If you don't want others to hear the mechanical noise of the motorcycle, you can do that with electricity too..."
As Chen Haoxuan listened to Speedster's introduction, he wanted it more and more. If he had such a motorcycle, who would dare look down on him for riding one? If someone didn't understand its worth, he could challenge them in speed and quality and show off its power. "Speedster, I'm your good buddy, right?" Chen Haoxuan said with a flattering smile towards Speedster. It was understandable to be humble when asking for something from someone else.
Speedster knew exactly what Chen Haoxuan wanted. He wanted his motorcycle, of course. It was well-known that after he built this motorcycle, everyone in the Dragon Group fawned over him, eager to trade all sorts of things for it. He was someone who cherished his bike, and that was why he had never let it go. Now that Chen Haoxuan wanted it too, he still couldn't give it up because it had consumed too many materials. The best ores from the Dragon Group had been used to forge this synthetic steel. He could make another one if he gathered the materials again, but that would take time. "No way, I can help you make another one, but this one is absolutely not for sale," Speedster said seriously. After over twenty years of crafting vehicles, he had never been satisfied with his creations, always feeling something was missing. This time, he had finally made a motorcycle that even he was enamored with, and he would never let it go.
"Alright, when the time comes, I'll work with you to build the most amazing motorcycle in the world," Chen Haoxuan declared boldly. He used to prefer cars, but after being looked down upon for riding motorcycles countless times, his interests shifted. He wanted those who scoffed at him to envy him instead.
Since Chen Haoxuan couldn't ride Speedster's motorcycle, he sat at the back wearing a helmet. Speedster pressed the ignition button, and the motorcycle roared to life. As he accelerated, the bike surged forward with a powerful roar. The sudden force nearly made Chen Haoxuan fall off, but he quickly grabbed onto Speedster's waist.
Sitting at the back, Chen Haoxuan heard the thunderous sounds around him. He recognized them as the noise created by air friction, indicating high speed. On the grasslands, Speedster drove fast; the terrain wasn't flat but filled with small mounds that occasionally lifted Chen Haoxuan off his seat.
A few hours later, they arrived at the Dragon Group. Upon entering, Chen Haoxuan noticed how lively it was—sounds of training, laughter, and playful banter filled the air. He rode in on Speedster's motorcycle and curiously asked him from the back, "When did so many people join the Dragon Group? Did they lower their standards to recruit ordinary folks?"
"Haoxuan, you might be too busy to notice why there are so many people here. Most of them were introduced by you; they are all unique individuals with their own special skills. The growth of the Dragon Group to its current scale is largely thanks to you," Speedster replied.
"Hello, Boss Chen! Hello!" Members of the Dragon Group greeted Chen Haoxuan. Those who called him Boss Chen were people he had introduced; they were grateful to him because without him, they wouldn't have achieved their current status.
"Hello there..." Chen Haoxuan responded repeatedly to those greeting him. He recognized them but couldn't recall their names. Although they were impressive individuals, they held no significance for him; in his eyes, they were merely unfamiliar passersby.
After returning to the Dragon Group, Chen Haoxuan began visiting old friends one by one. The last person he visited was Shen Ruyan. He felt a bit anxious; now that he had a wife and children, he wondered if she would still cling to him.
Shen Ruyan's residence was luxurious; it was clear she knew how to enjoy life. When Chen Haoxuan arrived at her place, the door was open, so he walked right in. Finding no one inside initially, out of courtesy he called out twice: "Shen Ruyan, are you there? I'm here to see you."
Five minutes later, Shen Ruyan appeared in her pajamas and plopped down on the living room sofa lazily saying to Chen Haoxuan, "You're back." Her tone felt like something a wife would say to her husband.
"Yeah." Chen Haoxuan sat down across from her and asked with concern, "How have you been lately?"
"Well, it's really something. You introduced so many talents to the Dragon Group, and now the team leader has handed over our original tasks to those newcomers for their training. So now we don't have to do anything, just eat, drink, and have fun all day long, living a life somewhat like pigs," Shen Ruyan said weakly. Looking at her expression, she seemed quite melancholic.
"You could go out and find something to do! Join the military, go out and have fun, travel the world... you could even teach those newcomers! There's no need to stay in the Dragon Group all day," Chen Haoxuan advised.
Shen Ruyan shot Chen Haoxuan a glare and said, "Do you think I'm like you? Living life so carefree? Unlike me, I have to be cautious everywhere because of my identity."
"Oh." Chen Haoxuan didn't know how to comfort Shen Ruyan.
"Haoxuan, I heard you have a daughter. When will you bring her to see me? I really like children," Shen Ruyan said eagerly.
"I'll definitely bring her next time I get the chance," Chen Haoxuan replied.
After that, Chen Haoxuan and Shen Ruyan were left in silence, both unsure of what to say. This awkward situation lasted for ten minutes until Chen Haoxuan finally stood up and awkwardly said to Shen Ruyan, "If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave. Speedster is looking for me about something!"
"Oh, then you can go!" Shen Ruyan replied lightly. Her tone clearly conveyed disappointment. Chen Haoxuan was married and had a child, yet she still couldn't forget him. He was too outstanding; once someone truly fell in love with him, it felt like consuming an antidote-less poison.
After leaving Shen Ruyan's place, Chen Haoxuan went to see Speedster. He was discussing the design of a motorcycle with Speedster. Speedster showed him the design plans for his motorcycle. After reviewing them, Chen Haoxuan made numerous changes, even altering the overall appearance. He integrated some technologies from Future Century into the motorcycle, transforming it into something even more perfect. This made Speedster want to trade his current motorcycle for the one that Chen Haoxuan was about to create immediately.
