"Are you that afraid of me? I just want to see you and have a chat, nothing more. I don't care; since you won't come out, I'll just wait here at your door," Leah said stubbornly.
Leah felt wronged. As a young lady from a wealthy family, she had been rejected by a boy time and again, each time leaving her furious enough to almost suffer internal injuries. However, this only fueled her determination. She couldn't believe that a young lady like herself couldn't win over a boy's heart. Her unwillingness to accept defeat drove her to learn various aspects of Chinese culture; she refused to believe that her efforts would not move Chen Haoxuan.
Chen Haoxuan hung up the phone and closed his eyes to continue sleeping. Meanwhile, Jiang Dong and Li Botao had already gotten up early. They opened the large iron gate and were surprised to find a mixed-race beauty standing at the entrance. Their first thought was, "Which beauty has the Boss lured in this time?"
"Good morning, I'm here to see Chen Haoxuan. Is he awake?" Leah politely asked Jiang Dong and Li Botao.
Jiang Dong and his companions had seen Leah before, but now she had changed so much that they didn't recognize her. Ensuring Chen Haoxuan's safety was their mission; no matter how beautiful the girl was, they wouldn't let her in easily. Jiang Dong kindly asked Leah, "May I ask who you are? What business do you have with our Boss?"
"I am Leah, the girl with golden curly hair you met before. Don't you remember? I'm here to play with your Boss today," Leah said sweetly.
"Wow, what a change! You've even learned Chinese! It seems the power of love is not to be underestimated," Jiang Dong exclaimed.
"Can I see your Boss?" Leah asked eagerly.
"No, our Boss is resting," Jiang Dong replied firmly. He dared not let Leah inside or disturb Chen Haoxuan's sleep because he knew how much Chen Haoxuan disliked her.
Leah stood outside for an hour, and as her feet began to ache from exhaustion, she sat down on a Water Stone near the door.
Chen Haoxuan wasn't a pig; when he woke up around nine o'clock, he couldn't fall back asleep. He got up in his pajamas to wash his face and brush his teeth. Seeing Chen Haoxuan awake, Jiang Dong hurried over and quietly said to him, "Boss, that Leah is back and is lingering at the door."
"Ignore her; if she likes staying at the door, let her be!" Chen Haoxuan replied casually before heading off to wash his face and brush his teeth.
Breakfast was made by Li Botao. Although it wasn't as delicious as what Chen Haoxuan would make, it was still edible. After having breakfast, Chen Haoxuan walked out of his residence with Jiang Dong.
Seeing Chen Haoxuan come out, Leah quickly stood up and ran to him, excitedly asking, "Chen Haoxuan, do I look good like this?"
"Just okay," Chen Haoxuan replied lightly. After saying that, he walked around Leah and continued toward where he had parked.
Leah turned and chased after Chen Haoxuan, continuously saying, "Chen Haoxuan, I’ve learned Mandarin for you... I’ve also studied your culture in China. I've dressed myself up like you Chinese people. I've done so much for you; can’t you at least spend some time with me?"
Chen Haoxuan suddenly turned around, causing Leah to almost bump into him. He calmly asked Leah, "Did I ask you to learn Mandarin?"
"No," Leah shook her head.
"Did I ask you to dress up like a Chinese person?" Chen Haoxuan continued to question.
"No," Leah shook her head again.
"Then why do you say it's for me? I never asked you to do anything. You don’t owe me anything, and I don’t owe you anything either, so please stop bothering me," Chen Haoxuan said flatly.
Leah was left speechless. She felt very dissatisfied but didn’t know how to convince Chen Haoxuan.
Chen Haoxuan drove away. Watching the car slowly disappear from view, Leah stomped her feet in anger and huffed, "Hmph! You heartless guy! You’re indifferent even in front of a beautiful woman. I doubt if you’re capable at all!"
If Leah had said this to Chen Haoxuan earlier, perhaps he would have impulsively taken off his pants and shouted, "Why don’t you try and find out?"
Today is Monday, and Chen Haoxuan is going back to pick up Chen Yina for school. After returning to Chen Family Village, he personally drives Chen Yina to New City University. Afterwards, he returns to Chen Family Village to continue training Jiang Dong and the others every day.
In the following days, Chen Haoxuan trains with Jiang Dong and the others daily. They spend some time under the sun, which causes their skin to turn bronze, while Chen Haoxuan's skin remains as fair as ever. This confuses Jiang Dong and the others, as they wonder why his skin hasn't changed despite training together. However, Chen Haoxuan's body has become much stronger; he can easily lift weights of two to three hundred pounds.
When the villagers' rice was ready for harvest, Chen Haoxuan took Jiang Dong and the others to help the villagers cut the rice. Their speed was so impressive that even the harvesters couldn't keep up. Chen Haoxuan wanted to help the villagers and also wanted Jiang Dong and the others to practice their scythe skills. He instructed them to cut the rice quickly and silently, promising a reward of RMB to anyone who could achieve this level of skill.
Cutting rice alone might be boring, but doing it as a group was lively. Each villager brought snacks and water for Chen Haoxuan and his team while they helped harvest the rice for free. They felt compelled to contribute something in return, so everyone shared their best snacks with them.
The villagers had witnessed how powerful Chen Haoxuan and his friends were in fights, but they were surprised by their impressive speed and strength in harvesting rice. They could easily lift two bags filled with rice.
As the villagers recognized Chen Haoxuan's abilities, their attitude changed towards him; they began to respect him more. Although it was a peaceful era, the idea that strength commands respect is hard to change.
In just one week, over thirty of them helped harvest all the rice for every villager in Chen Family Village. By chance, Chen Haoxuan heard from a villager about a seventy-year-old single man from a neighboring village who was harvesting rice alone on two acres of land. Upon hearing this, Chen Haoxuan's kindness resurfaced, and he sent two people to assist the elderly man.
Chen Haoxuan also asked Chen Yuebin and Li Ping to find out if there were others in need in different villages—such as patients facing hardships or elderly or disabled individuals—and he would send one or two people to help them with their rice harvesting as well.
