"Have you found out anything?" Chen Haoxuan asked.
Li De shook his head, feeling dejected. "No, those thieves refuse to say anything."
"Do you need my help?" Chen Haoxuan said with a sly grin.
"Of course, but let's eat first. I'm about to starve," Li De replied, patting his growling stomach awkwardly.
After finishing their lunch, Chen Haoxuan and Li De headed to the Detention Room. As they approached, Chen Haoxuan told Li De, "You can just watch the surveillance footage; I'll go in by myself."
"Why? Do you want to do something shady?" Li De asked, puzzled.
"Exactly, I want to give them some money to spend," Chen Haoxuan replied with a mischievous smile.
Seeing Chen Haoxuan's cunning grin reminded Li De of what Chen had said earlier: "I have money; who am I afraid of?" Li De suspected that Chen Haoxuan was planning to deal with those thieves and thought that if they could turn him in, he would have to pay up. "Rich people are hard to deal with!" was what Li De thought to himself.
Li De followed Chen Haoxuan's suggestion and called out the guard from the Detention Room before heading to the Surveillance Room himself.
Chen Haoxuan entered the Detention Room with an elegant stride, holding a set of keys. He approached the cell where the five thieves were held but did not open the door. Instead, he leaned against the iron bars and grinned at the five thieves inside. "Do you still recognize me?"
"Who are you?" one of the young men in the cell asked curiously.
"I'm the one who just broke your brother's arms and legs. I believe my face is familiar to you," Chen Haoxuan said with a wicked smile.
"Are you Chen Haoxuan, the Billionaire of New City?" The five young men were surprised to hear Chen Haoxuan's name. They weren't afraid of the police, but they feared Chen Haoxuan, worried that if he was in a bad mood, he might break their limbs.
"Yes, I am Chen Haoxuan. I have appeared before you to ask some questions, and I hope you will cooperate. If you dare to deceive me, your fate will be very miserable," Chen Haoxuan said coldly.
"Don't waste your breath. We won't tell you anything. Do whatever you want. This is the police station; you can't act recklessly here. You better not provoke us, or our boss won't let you go..." The five young men seemed very loyal to their boss.
"Your boss? In my eyes, he's still a rookie. If he hadn't run fast last time, he would have either been killed by me or spent his life in prison. So don't expect your boss to take revenge for you because he doesn't have that capability," Chen Haoxuan boasted.
"Who says? Our boss is very powerful! He dares to go against the police; all the cops in New City want to catch him, but he can still roam freely here," a chubby young man shouted at Chen Haoxuan. Seeing their angry expressions, Chen Haoxuan suspected they had been brainwashed by their boss.
"I just mentioned that Black Heart is your boss, and you didn't deny it. That means your boss is indeed Black Heart, and you are members of the Black Heart Gang under his command. You have already betrayed your boss, so insisting on protecting him now will only bring you harm and no benefit at all. If I get someone to confess about Black Heart's activities, think about what will happen when you get out? You don't want to say it? I'll say it for you! You will be killed by him," Chen Haoxuan said coldly. He was trying to intimidate them into submission; scaring them would increase his chances of success.
"No, no, no! Our boss won't kill us; he won't believe what you say!" one of the young men shouted back at Chen Haoxuan.
"It seems Black Heart's brainwashing skills are impressive; he has managed to make so many people loyal to him," Chen Haoxuan thought to himself. Brainwashing is actually quite simple; as long as what you say makes sense and leads others' thoughts in your direction while instilling loyalty towards you, you've succeeded. This is the highest realm of deception, known as deceiving the heart.
"I don't have time to gamble on whether Black Heart will harm you or not. Right now, I just want to know why he is doing this and where he is," Chen Haoxuan asked coldly.
"Don't know, don't know..." the five young men replied in unison.
"Alright, since you're all brave men, I'll keep you company!" Chen Haoxuan said as he opened the cell door.
Seeing Chen Haoxuan enter, the five young men immediately backed into the corner of the room, their bodies shaking uncontrollably. After entering, Chen Haoxuan locked the door again and put the key in his pocket before walking towards the five young men.
Chen Haoxuan stepped closer to them, and they felt increasingly frightened. They trembled and said, "No, don't come any closer..."
"If you want me to stay away, then tell me the black-hearted one's intentions and his current whereabouts. Once I catch him, I'll have the director release you and even give you some money. How does that sound?" Chen Haoxuan said seriously.
"No way, our boss will kill us," one of the young men said with a trembling voice.
"Kill? What nonsense! He kidnapped me with dozens of people and several guns. Plus, he's openly opposing the police now. Even if he doesn't get the death penalty, he'll be sentenced to life imprisonment. So as long as the police catch him, you won't be in any danger at all. You'll even get some money without having to go to jail," Chen Haoxuan replied.
"Even if we don't say anything, we'll only get a few years for robbery at most. But if we do tell you and you fail to catch our boss, we're dead for sure. Even in prison, our boss has ways to deal with us. It's too dangerous. Brother Chen, please don't force us; just send us to jail!" one young man pleaded desperately.
"Want to go to jail? Have you forgotten my methods? I dare to fight your boss because I have the means. Your boss has friends in prison; do I not have any? His friends are just fellow inmates, while my friends include prison guards and police... I have all those connections. As long as I give them a heads-up, you'll find that prison is hell," Chen Haoxuan coldly threatened.
"Big brother, please... let us go!" The five young men were terrified by Chen Haoxuan; they knelt before him and repeatedly bowed their heads.
Those who bully the weak fear the strong. If Chen Haoxuan didn't have his current status, these thieves might have pushed him down and beaten him up. Chen Haoxuan took a step forward and kicked one of the thieves in the head. There was a dull thud as the thief fell to the ground. Although he felt a sharp pain in his head, it wasn't serious enough to keep him down; he could stand up again. However, he didn't dare to do so for fear that Chen Haoxuan would hit him again, so he simply pretended to be dead.
