"You no longer have a gun. Do you still want to kill me?" Chen Haoxuan said with a cold smile.
"You—didn't you just say you wanted to cooperate with me? Why are you going back on your word?" Zhao Jun's trembling voice addressed Chen Haoxuan. He wasn't afraid of Chen Haoxuan; it was the pain radiating from his right hand that made his body shake.
"You are a killer, someone who wants to kill me. How could I cooperate with someone like you? You don't need to worry too much; I won't kill you, but I will cripple you," Chen Haoxuan replied coldly. Despite his seemingly gentle appearance, he was more terrifying than a demon when he got serious.
After saying this, Chen Haoxuan quickly swung his right hand, and Zhao Jun's clothes tore apart, revealing streaks of blood on his face.
Chen Haoxuan suddenly stopped, slowly crouched down, and raised a dagger, thrusting it fiercely toward Zhao Jun's foot.
"Ah—!" Zhao Jun let out a miserable scream as his right hand was severed by Chen Haoxuan. His face was slashed, and the words "bastard" were carved into his chest. Now, with his left foot pinned to the ground by the dagger, he felt worse than dead. If Chen Haoxuan offered him a chance, he would rather die than endure this torment.
Chen Haoxuan stood up and grinned wickedly. "How does it feel? Quite comfortable, right? Do you still want to kill me?"
"N—no, I don't want to anymore. Please let me go," Zhao Jun said in a trembling voice. At that moment, he didn't care about saving face; staying alive was what mattered most.
"How can someone like you change? If this weren't the age of law, I would guarantee your death," Chen Haoxuan coldly told Zhao Jun.
Chen Haoxuan crouched down again and grasped the dagger embedded in Zhao Jun's left foot, deliberately pulling it out slowly.
"Ah ah ah..." Zhao Jun was in so much pain he felt like fainting. He wanted to move but feared that any motion would intensify the agony in his foot.
Finally, after a minute of effort, Chen Haoxuan pulled the dagger out from Zhao Jun's foot. The moment the dagger was removed, Zhao Jun's body seemed to lose all its strength as he slowly collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath. He was drenched in cold sweat and truly realized how terrifying Chen Haoxuan was. If anyone ever asked him to kill Chen Haoxuan again, he would turn on them instead because that person must have intended to harm him, just like now. If it weren't for Chen Haorong, how could he be in such a miserable state?
"Get lost! If I see you again, it will be your death," Chen Haoxuan coldly warned Zhao Jun.
Zhao Jun scrambled up from the ground, picking up the severed hand that had just been cut off by Chen Haoxuan and fled away in a desperate crawl. It was a tragic sight; everywhere he passed left behind pools of blood.
Chen Haoxuan need not worry about Zhao Jun dying, as he knows that those in the assassin profession are aware of self-preservation; otherwise, he wouldn't be a competent assassin.
Watching Zhao Jun's departing figure, Chen Haoxuan furrowed his brow and coldly said, “Chen Haorong, you want to challenge me, right? You want to kill me, don’t you? Just wait and see.”
Chen Haoxuan rode his motorcycle back to Pingyuan County. He parked the motorcycle at Pingyuan County Square, sat on it, took out his phone, and dialed Hongmao's number. You might be curious about how Chen Haoxuan got Hongmao's phone number since he didn’t snatch the tissue with the number from Zhao Jun. In fact, while Zhao Jun was distracted, Chen Haoxuan tiptoed to take a quick glance and memorized the number.
The call connected, and a lazy voice came through the phone: “Hello, who is this?”
“Is this Hongmao? I’m Xuan. I got your number from a friend. I heard you know where to get flour. Can we talk?” Chen Haoxuan pretended to sound polite.
“How much do you want? If it’s not much, don’t bother me. I can give you another number; just contact him,” Hongmao replied impatiently.
“I need one hundred thousand Renminbi worth of flour. Is that too much? If you can help me find a cheap seller, I’ll give you fifty thousand Renminbi as a referral fee. What do you think?” Chen Haoxuan said.
“Where do you want to meet?” Hongmao asked, clearly interested in making money from this deal.
“The police are cracking down hard right now. How about this: meet me at the Abandoned Building near Pingyuan County Square. I’ll be waiting on the top floor,” Chen Haoxuan suggested.
“Okay, wait for me; I’ll be there soon,” Hongmao replied happily.
After hanging up, Chen Haoxuan lit a cigar and leisurely walked toward the Abandoned Building he had just mentioned.
Hongmao was eager for money and quickly drove his small car to Pingyuan County Square. He parked by the square and walked towards the Abandoned Building that Chen Haoxuan had indicated.
Upon reaching the top floor of the Abandoned Building, which had thirteen stories and was quite tall, Hongmao felt the strong wind blowing on the rooftop, making his hair look messy. However, this only added to his rough appearance. He saw someone standing by the balcony smoking and knew that this was the person looking to buy flour. He called out, “Hey, brother, I’m here!”
Hearing the voice, Chen Haoxuan slowly turned around and smiled at Hongmao, saying, “You arrived quite fast!”
When Red Hair recognized the person who called for him, he exclaimed, "Chen Haoxuan?"
"Ah, it seems you know me well! Then you should know why I came to find you!" Chen Haoxuan said with a wicked smile as he stepped closer to Red Hair.
"Aren't you looking to buy flour? Just give me the money, and I'll take you there right now," Red Hair feigned ignorance, knowing full well why Chen Haoxuan was there.
"Are you still pretending? Do you think I don't know that you helped Chen Haorong hire a hitman to kill me?" Chen Haoxuan said coldly.
"How did you find out?" Red Hair asked in surprise, realizing that Zhao Jun must have informed Chen Haoxuan.
"Because I've already taken care of him; he will never be a hitman again. I'm here to deal with you too. I won't allow anyone who wants to kill me to live comfortably," Chen Haoxuan replied icily.
Hearing Chen Haoxuan's words and seeing him approach step by step, Red Hair felt an increasing sense of pressure. He believed Chen Haoxuan; if he hadn't dealt with Zhao Jun, there was no way Chen Haoxuan would know about his connection with Chen Haorong.
"Chen Haoxuan, I'm just an intermediary. I never intended to harm you; please let me go!" Red Hair pleaded desperately. He knew his own abilities; he could bully children, but he had no confidence against someone taller than him.
"I know that although you didn't want to kill me, you helped them. Therefore, you're an accomplice. You assisted them in harming me, and you must face my punishment," Chen Haoxuan said coldly.
