"You not believing is normal. Once I make it, you'll believe," Chen Haoxuan said confidently.
"Are you really not joking?" Zhang Tianqi still seemed a bit skeptical.
"If you don't mind, after dinner, I'll go with you to your Mobile Factory and show you," Chen Haoxuan offered.
"Of course I don't mind. Let's make a deal: if you can't do it, you have to treat me to a week's worth of meals, with dishes as rich as this every day. I'm quite easygoing," Zhang Tianqi joked.
Chen Haoxuan chatted with Zhang Tianqi while drinking. They had never really talked before, and today he discovered that Zhang Tianqi was quite eloquent. Chen Haoxuan felt that Zhang Tianqi's talents were wasted as a Boss; he might achieve even more success in politics.
Chen Haoxuan had poor health and couldn't hold his liquor well, so he didn't dare drink too much. Instead, he mostly encouraged Zhang Tianqi to drink while he himself sipped lightly. Although this behavior was somewhat unethical, there was no choice since Zhang Tianqi insisted on finishing the bottle of red wine before leaving. Thus, Chen Haoxuan had to resort to trickery.
Fortunately, Zhang Tianqi had a strong tolerance for alcohol; otherwise, how would he manage to go to his Mobile Factory? For safety's sake, Chen Haoxuan drove while Zhang Tianqi navigated. Fifteen minutes later, they arrived at a small industrial area. According to Zhang Tianqi, this was his family's Mobile Factory, which employed over a thousand people and was considered a large factory in the vicinity.
Zhang Tianqi led Chen Haoxuan into the factory and took him to a quiet area where many people were working diligently. "This is where my family's Mobile Factory develops phones. There are many machines here; why don't you go ahead and make an All-Purpose Phone for me?" Zhang Tianqi introduced.
"Okay, just wait," Chen Haoxuan replied confidently.
Chen Haoxuan first looked around and asked Zhang Tianqi about anything he didn't understand. Once he got a grasp of the various materials used for making phones, he began working. He gathered many phone components and arranged them properly before moving on to create the circuit board for the phone. There were still many machines from this century that Chen Haoxuan wasn't familiar with; he was used to high-end equipment.
Zhang Tianqi was also somewhat inexperienced, so he called over a technician to teach Chen Haoxuan. Standing behind him, Zhang Tianqi increasingly felt that Chen Haoxuan was joking because he didn't even know how to operate the machines for making phones—how could he possibly create one? However, what surprised Zhang Tianqi was Chen Haoxuan's incredible learning speed; the technician only needed to explain something once for him to grasp it immediately. This terrifying learning pace made Zhang Tianqi envious; if he had such an ability, he would have taken over the family business long ago.
Chen Haoxuan worked quickly, producing various phone components one by one. However, even with his speed, it was impossible for him to complete everything today.
At around 8 PM, only Chen Haoxuan and Zhang Tianqi remained in the factory; everyone else had clocked out. Zhang Tianqi ordered two takeout meals, and after finishing his, he dozed off due to boredom, as there was no entertainment in the factory. He pulled over an office chair and half-lay down to sleep.
Chen Haoxuan was very serious about his work, so much so that he would forget to eat. Just a moment ago, Zhang Tianqi had called him to eat, but Chen Haoxuan didn’t touch his meal. He was deeply interested in making a phone and had temporarily lost interest in everything else until he finished it. This was the spirit of being a Chief Professor—dedication.
The next day, at 3 AM, Chen Haoxuan finally completed a phone. As he finished it, he felt an overwhelming wave of sleepiness and fatigue. "Damn it, being out of shape is tough; staying up late is exhausting," Chen Haoxuan muttered to himself.
Feeling extremely drowsy, he decided to sleep like Zhang Tianqi did, but he was smarter; he brought over two office chairs to make a bed instead of half-lying like Zhang Tianqi did. It was simply more comfortable.
As dawn broke, Zhang Tianqi woke up early since he had gone to bed early the previous night. He opened his eyes, rubbed them with his hands, and turned to see Chen Haoxuan sleeping on the office chair where he had been working on the phone.
Zhang Tianqi stood up and walked over to Chen Haoxuan, nudging him with his hand while calling out, "Haoxuan, you lazy bum! Didn’t you say you would finish your All-Purpose Phone last night? Where is it? Show me!"
Chen Haoxuan could barely open his eyes. He pulled out the All-Purpose Phone he had made the night before from his pocket but didn’t hand it directly to Zhang Tianqi; instead, he held it in his hand, clearly wanting Zhang Tianqi to take it himself. He was just too tired; having gone to bed at three and now waking up at five-thirty meant he had only slept for two and a half hours. Being woken up abruptly when he was comfortably asleep was frustrating for anyone.
"Could this be the phone?" Zhang Tianqi asked with curiosity as he reached for the device from Chen Haoxuan's hand. The phone was still powered on. When Zhang Tianqi pressed the confirmation button, many images appeared on the screen along with text explanations beneath each one.
"Messages, camera, MP4—this is the legendary MP4!" Curious, Zhang Tianqi opened the MP4 section and saw a video inside. Below the video was a directory; he clicked on a movie. The phone displayed images and sound just like a television.
"Wow! I can’t believe it; he really did it! He actually made an All-Purpose Phone," Zhang Tianqi exclaimed in surprise. At that moment, all his sleepiness vanished as he thought about how if he could buy Chen Haoxuan's technology, his status in the mobile phone industry would surpass everyone else's because he would be at the forefront of mobile technology.
Zhang Tianqi eagerly shook Chen Haoxuan awake and excitedly said, "Haoxuan, how about selling me this technology?"
Chen Haoxuan looked completely groggy and mumbled sleepily, "Not selling! I want to get rich off this!" With that, he lay back down and fell into a deep sleep again.
"Hey, lazy pig, wake up..." Zhang Tianqi kept calling Chen Haoxuan, but Chen Haoxuan just wouldn't get up.
Zhang Tianqi thought for a moment and felt that he should tell his dad about this, asking how much money his dad would be willing to spend to acquire the technology that Chen Haoxuan had. Zhang Tianqi dialed the phone, and when he informed his dad about Chen Haoxuan creating the All-Purpose Phone, he was amused to find that his dad, just like him, initially didn't believe it was true. It wasn't until Zhang Tianqi explained it repeatedly that his dad finally believed him.
