"Ah, so you know him. That means we have quite a connection!" Zhang the Old Man said with a smile.
"I've started a small business at New City University, and I deliver goods to the security room there every day, so I'm quite familiar with him," Chen Haoxuan replied with a smile.
"That's good to hear. Please take care of him at New City University in the future. Old Zhang wants to thank you in advance," Zhang the Old Man said, feeling pleased that Chen Haoxuan was in business. His son had been working for over ten years without a chance to make big money, and now that Chen Haoxuan mentioned he was in business, Zhang the Old Man wondered if he could help his son earn some extra cash.
"No problem. If there's an opportunity, I'll let him join me in business," Chen Haoxuan responded. He thought that as he expanded his business in the future, he would definitely need talented people, so it was good to get to know some now to pave the way for himself. When he developed properly, things would be easier.
"Lunch is ready!" came Chen Yina's cheerful voice from outside.
Just as Chen Haoxuan was about to get up to eat, Chen Yina ran in with a large bowl in her hands. "Brother Xuan, don't get up; just stay in bed. I'll bring the food to you. Try my cooking today and see how it is," she said with a sweet smile directed at Chen Haoxuan.
"Anything my Nana cooks is bound to be delicious," Chen Haoxuan said as he took the bowl from Chen Yina, flattering her.
"I can tell you're just being smooth-tongued," Chen Yina replied, pretending to complain about his flattery, but inside she felt very sweet. Sometimes girls are strange like that; they might say they dislike something but actually enjoy it deeply.
After finishing lunch, Chen Haoxuan suggested it was time to go back. Zhang the Old Man wanted to keep him there until his cold got better before letting him leave, but he couldn't change Chen Haoxuan's firm decision to go. Zhang the Old Man prepared many mountain goods for Chen Haoxuan; if sold at a hotel, they could fetch hundreds of dollars.
Chen Haoxuan didn't have much with him. After putting on the clothes that Chen Yina had brought him, he leaned on her fragile shoulder as they left. As for the mountain goods Zhang the Old Man offered him, Chen Haoxuan declined; he needed someone to support him himself and didn't have the strength to carry so much.
They hadn't walked far when they saw two black sedans parked in front of them. The doors opened, and a striking figure stepped out and quickly ran toward Chen Haoxuan.
"Chen Haoxuan!" Zhou Kexin exclaimed joyfully upon seeing him.
Then several people began to emerge from the two cars: Zhou Xiang, Hua Tianyu, and Hua Lingwei.
Zhou Kexin ran up to Chen Haoxuan, tightly holding his hand, tears of joy streaming down her face as she said, "Chen Haoxuan, I'm so glad you're okay. You have no idea how worried I was about you yesterday, boohoo..." As she spoke, Zhou Kexin began to cry; it wasn't sadness but overwhelming happiness that made her unable to control her tears.
"Hey, Chen Haoxuan, you made me worry for so long and even made me sad for a while. You have to make it up to me from now on, okay?" Hua Lingwei joked with Chen Haoxuan.
"I got it. I'll make it up to you properly in the future, hehe..." Chen Haoxuan replied with a mischievous grin, realizing he quite enjoyed teasing this playful girl.
Following Chen Haoxuan's gaze, Hua Lingwei looked down and immediately felt her cheeks flush with two rosy spots. She playfully scolded, "What are you looking at?" As she spoke, she quickly covered her chest with her hands. She felt both happy and shy; happy because it seemed Chen Haoxuan was interested in her figure, and shy because he was openly staring at her neckline, clearly looking at her chest.
"Chen Haoxuan, what's wrong? Why do you need someone to support you? Are you injured?" Zhou Kexin asked worriedly upon seeing Chen Yina helping him.
"It's nothing serious, just a bit of a cold," Chen Haoxuan replied with a smile. In reality, it was more than just a cold; he had severely exhausted himself the day before and needed a good month of rest to recover fully.
"You have a cold too? Hurry—get in the car; I'll take you to the hospital," Zhou Kexin said anxiously.
Before Chen Haoxuan could respond to Zhou Kexin, Chen Yina interjected, frowning at Zhou Kexin. "There's no need for your kindness; we can take the bus ourselves." Chen Yina was upset with Zhou Kexin; if it weren't for saving her, her Brother Xuan wouldn't be in such poor health now, lacking his usual vitality.
"Xuan! It looks like you're heading back to the city, right? Just come back with us! Given your condition now, taking the bus would be very inconvenient and crowded," Zhou Xiang suggested.
At that moment, a BMW drove up. The road was narrow enough for only one vehicle at a time, so the BMW honked repeatedly, urging Zhou Xiang's car to move faster.
Zhou Xiang turned to find a wider spot to drive when the driver of the BMW spotted him. The door opened, and out stepped Huang Weicheng. "Mr. Zhou, what are you doing here? Isn't Dongshan Village ahead? Why did you park here?" Huang Weicheng called out loudly from ten meters away. He had also come to see Chen Haoxuan; not only him but even his daughter had come along.
"You're here to see Xuan too? If that's the case, there's no need for you to go to Dongshan Village because he's right here," Zhou Xiang said upon recognizing him and decided not to drive away anymore.
Hearing Zhou Xiang's words, Huang Weicheng turned to the people in the car and shouted, "Mei Lin, come out quickly, your Brother Xuan is right here."
Meilin Huang got out of the car and asked her dad, "Really? Where is he? Take me to him."
"He should be just up ahead!" Huang Weicheng pointed forward.
"Brother Xuan, Brother Xuan..." Meilin Huang called out loudly for Chen Haoxuan as she ran.
"I'm here." Upon hearing Meilin Huang's voice, Chen Haoxuan responded loudly.
After finding Chen Haoxuan, Meilin Huang rushed toward him without hesitation. She almost knocked Chen Haoxuan over, but fortunately, Chen Yina managed to support him; otherwise, he would have fallen.
"Be careful; his body is very weak right now, and he has a fever and a cold," Chen Yina reminded Meilin Huang.
"Ah—Brother Xuan, you're sick! Quickly get in my dad's car; I'll have him take you to the hospital," Meilin Huang said with concern.
Chen Yina didn't like getting into Zhou Kexin's car. She didn't want Chen Haoxuan to be too involved with them. As for Meilin Huang's family's car, she didn't need to think too much about it. No matter how much Meilin Huang liked Chen Haoxuan, he wouldn't be interested in a girl so much younger than him. So, Chen Yina helped Chen Haoxuan into Huang Weicheng's BMW.
