With a loud clang, the massive Crimson Gate of the Celestial Palace swung open, and Xiao Da rushed out, flanked by ten visibly distressed Xu Shiwann. Following closely behind were no fewer than a thousand Celestial beings.
Xiao Da led all the Celestials toward the Salt Warehouse. Upon seeing the ground littered with severed limbs and bones, he turned around with a cold smile and said, "Xu Shiwann, what do you have to say now?"
"Those two could never resort to such extreme measures; they aren't that bold. I firmly believe it wasn't them," Xu Shiwann quickly denied, but his wavering gaze revealed that he didn't even believe his own words.
"If it wasn't them, could it be you?" Xiao Da sneered.
"This is unjust! We have been inside the palace without stepping out even once; how could it possibly be us?" Xu Shiwann protested repeatedly.
"The Immortal Emperor was supposed to summon them tomorrow. Now that they have vanished without a trace, how do you propose we resolve this?" someone beside Xiao Da asked.
Upon closer inspection, the Celestials from the Celestial Palace of Leisure appeared almost identical, sharing strikingly similar features. Li Hong, who had just noticed this scene, exclaimed in surprise. Looking again at Xu Shiwann's ten companions, he realized that while their appearances differed from Xiao Da and his group, there were still some similarities among themselves.
Could it be that the Celestial Palace of Leisure and Xu Yang Immortal Palace's Celestials are all related? Who could possibly have so many sons who all ascended to immortality? Li Hong wondered. However, this was not the time for such thoughts; he and Heavenly Torch continued to eavesdrop intently.
Xu Shiwann furrowed his brow deeply and hesitated before saying, "Those two would never go outside to the Blood Sea; they must still be in Xiaoyao City. I ask Brother Xiao to strengthen our defenses and allocate more manpower to help us find them and bring them to the Immortal Emperor."
"Hmph! You said it! If we don't find them by dawn, don't blame me for being rude!" Xiao Da commanded, and over a thousand Celestials surged into action, conducting a citywide search.
Meanwhile, Xu Shiwann's ten companions hovered above the Salt Pond but did not rush to search. Their eyes flickered as they clearly communicated through sound transmission.
Li Hong strained his ears to capture the airwaves, and gradually, their conversation became clear.
"Do those two really have such audacity? Who exactly are they from the lower realms?"
"Xi Che has already found out; they are descendants of the Seasoned Master. No wonder they are so bold with someone backing them."
"Backing? It seems like they won't let outsiders benefit."
"Exactly! They won't let outsiders interfere. Anyway, if that person encounters us upon their arrival and is unaware of the Seasoned Master's past issues, even if it benefits Xiao Yaozi, we shouldn't let that firestarter off easy! We can't afford to inform the Seasoned Master either. To safely return to our Xu Yang Immortal Palace now, we must first capture those two and present them to Xiao Yaozi. What a pity that we would be handing them over to outsiders!"
"By the way, has Xi Che finished preparing the salt? Should we go check on him? This place is utterly unpleasant! Just smelling this odor makes me feel sick; I definitely won't come back here next time!"
"Forget it, brother. Let those mortals handle their own affairs; why should we care about them? If they die, it's their own fault. If we capture those two and hand them over to Xiao Da, we'll only need to stay three more days before we leave. If there's still no salt by then, it's not our problem if people die. Those mortals are merely decorations; seeing those flies is annoying—better if they all perish regardless of whether there's salt or not!"
Li Hong understood everything at this point. Indeed, Grandmaster Jilianzi was in the Immortal Realm, and their tone showed great respect, indicating a high status. A thought surfaced. He recalled that when Nine Li Sect and Desolate South Celestial Palace were mentioned, Xi Che's attitude became strange, hesitating to speak clearly. Could it be that the Immortal Emperor of Desolate South Celestial Palace was Grandmaster Jilianzi?
His eyes brightened as he considered the possibility. If Ji Lianzi, the Ancestor, was indeed the Southern Immortal Emperor, then all problems would be resolved. It seemed that even if it was far away, a trip to Desolate South Celestial Palace was necessary. However, for now, he needed to go to the Celestial Palace of Leisure to find out if Chu Xi and Ling Yanzi were there.
Xu Shiwann and the others were still chatting casually while thousands of immortals from Celestial Palace of Leisure had completely dispersed in Xiaoyao City, searching for Li Hong Tian Zhu's whereabouts. Xu Shiwann clearly had no intention of looking for Li Hong Tian Zhu and complained about the hassle, saying, "If we haven't found those two by tomorrow, I think we ten brothers will be in trouble. That Xiao Yaozi might not dare to take us on directly, but we will definitely face some hardships. This is really annoying; I don't like this task at all."
"Who likes it? Big Brother, just bear with it for a moment. I can't believe that over a thousand people can't find those two."
...
Hearing this, Li Hong suddenly remembered that the name Xiao Yaozi sounded familiar; he must have heard it somewhere before.
Without delay, seeing that the thousands of immortals had completely scattered, it was the perfect opportunity to strike down these ten individuals. Li Hong transmitted a message to Heavenly Torch: "Attack!"
He swiftly summoned the Yin Yang Platform to envelop Xu Shiwann and the two people beside him. Before they could realize what was happening, the Yin Yang Platform instantly pulled them inside.
The remaining seven were caught off guard and hadn't even had time to scream when Heavenly Torch silently rushed over and struck one person with a punch as if hitting a sandbag, crushing him into a bloody mess. At the same time, Li Hongling, Divine Dragon Five Elements Shuttle, Divine Slaying Monument, Yue Que, and Heartless Shuttle all launched their attacks simultaneously. Five beams of Iridescence shot out rapidly under Li Hong's command and struck fiercely while Li Hong himself closed in on one person and quickly trapped him within the Eight Formation Flag.
In just a breath's time, ten people were either trapped or killed amidst splattering blood; even their Nascent Souls didn't escape instant annihilation. The shattered corpses hadn't even fallen before Li Hong swiftly collected them all into the Yin Yang Platform and fled with Heavenly Torch along with the Eight Formation Flag.
Over there, some immortals sensed the unusual turbulence of Spiritual Energy and quickly flew over. Upon arrival, they were hit by a strong scent of blood. Initially suspicious, they frowned upon seeing over twenty dismembered corpses left on the ground and began searching frantically again.
In the next moment, Li Hong and Heavenly Torch flew straight to the city lord's mansion. With numerous houses around, many unoccupied, they found an empty house to hide in. They set up a Phantom Shadow Talisman at the door and placed an improved Fire Shield throughout the entire house before extracting the Xu Yang Immortal Palace immortal trapped in the Eight Formation Diagram.
The immortal was spinning around chaotically within the flag sea formation like a headless fly. Suddenly realizing he was out but faced with two terrifying faces made his expression change drastically. He wanted to attack immediately; however, Yue Que had already silently struck down on him, instantly blasting away half of his body as blood sprayed out. The immortal's neck snapped; his head tilted sideways as he struggled to support himself with what remained of his leg while gasping for breath and threatening fiercely: "Good! You two really have guts! You dare kill me! Just wait; we will definitely not let you go!" He raised his bloody hand decisively and slapped down on his own head with force. In an instant, his Nascent Soul burst forth like a silver light trying to escape.
Li Hong and Heavenly Torch sneered without bothering to move.
With a loud crash, that Nascent Soul slammed into the Fire Shield and immediately let out a shrill scream. This was due to Li Hong's modified Fire Shield; it no longer blazed brightly like a sign but instead appeared as an almost invisible dark red transparent barrier. However, this barrier was infused with a bit of Li Hong's True Fire, which was particularly harmful to pure energy entities like Nascent Souls.
The Nascent Soul screamed repeatedly as it thrashed left and right within the Fire Shield but could not escape. At this point, Li Hong grew tired of wasting words with it and directly flicked out a bit of innate fire flame that struck precisely at its chest. In moments, it burned through creating a hole filled with True Fire that spread throughout its entire being.
Amidst its agonized cries, the Nascent Soul turned into nothingness. Li Hong flicked out another bit of True Fire to incinerate the corpse completely. Finally, with a casual wave of his hand, even those ashes ceased to exist.
Now, there are still three living captives locked in the Yin Yang Platform's positive space.
Li Hong probed with Divine Consciousness. Since obtaining the Yin Yang Platform, this positive space had never been opened before, except for resting in Anti-Space. The three individuals found themselves suspended in a chaotic void, their faces filled with panic as they struggled desperately. However, it was impossible to create any disturbance here; this space held absolute authority over the captives. All their efforts were in vain.
Li Hong was very interested in Xu Shiwann. He threw the Binding Immortal Rope into the space, pulling Xu Shiwann out. Soon, Xu Shiwann realized he had fallen into the hands of Li Hong and Heavenly Torch. His expression changed drastically as he trembled and said, "What do you want?"
"Nothing much!" Li Hong replied calmly, raising his hand to strike Xu Shiwann on the head. As Xu Shiwann attempted to dodge, he found himself tightly bound by the Binding Immortal Rope, unable to escape. He could only slightly tilt his head, watching as Li Hong's hand approached like a gleaming blade reflecting deadly light. Xu Shiwann turned pale and closed his eyes.
He felt a sharp pain in his head, but the horrific scenario of having his skull crushed did not occur; his head remained intact. Just as he relaxed his mind, suddenly it felt like a red-hot steel needle pierced deep into his brain, causing him to scream in agony. That "needle" showed no intention of letting him go, stirring around in his mind repeatedly. Gradually, Xu Shiwann became dazed and unresponsive, resembling a wooden puppet.
Li Hong despised this person deeply, so for the first time in his life, he used the first layer of the "Soul Searching Technique" on someone.
The first layer of the "Soul Searching Technique" could clearly uncover hidden thoughts deep within the opponent's mind, but it came with significant side effects; extreme pain was just one of them. If Li Hong made even a slight mistake while using this technique, the person would become a Walking Corpse. Therefore, Li Hong had never used it on anyone before. However, for Xu Shiwann, he was unconcerned; not only did he use it, but he also deliberately rummaged through the depths of his mind, causing Xu Shiwann to become completely dazed.
But then, Li Hong became dazed himself. He discovered that there was only one extremely simple memory in Xu Shiwann's mind; everything else was blank! It seemed that from birth, he had been at the current level of Late Stage of Nascent Soul, named Xu Shiwann, residing in a magnificent celestial palace. Then came this mission to traverse the Desert and arrive at the Celestial Palace of Leisure.
This truly astonished Li Hong; it was absolutely impossible!
