In the distance, a long column of dust was raised as a group advanced, stretching for several miles. Their speed was astonishing. Li Hong and Heavenly Torch exerted all their strength to catch up, taking a full hour to finally reach them.
The entire group consisted of no less than a thousand Pack Animals. Li Hong had never seen such Pack Animals before. They resembled horses but were much larger, measuring nearly thirty feet from head to tail, not including their long tails. Their bodies were covered in hard scales the size of teacups, which were dark greenish-black. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that right in the middle of their foreheads was a horn that measured two feet long, making them appear almost otherworldly. Their large eyes were copper bell-sized and had an eerie intelligence. Each hoof was the size of a tea table, and as they moved, they kicked up wind with incredible speed. It was no wonder that in such a short time, the group had already traveled thousands of miles.
Each Pack Animal carried something on its broad back; some clearly bore cargo, while many others had saddles and litters on which white gauze tents were propped up, revealing either slender or robust figures within.
People! There were indeed many people!
Li Hong and his companion could hardly contain their excitement. After four long years in this desolate place where not even a blade of grass grew, they finally saw humans!
Li Hong rushed to a Pack Animal carrying a person and shouted excitedly, "Who is the leader? I am Li Hong and I have urgent matters to discuss with the leader!"
The Pack Animal was extraordinary; upon suddenly noticing someone in front of it, it reacted swiftly. Xilulu raised its head and let out a loud cry, easily coming to a halt. However, the ordinary people on its back were unprepared for the sudden stop while moving at high speed. The four individuals inside the tent felt a jolt in their chests and immediately screamed as they tumbled out onto the sandy ground, nearly getting trampled by the following Pack Animals, which caused another round of startled cries.
One by one, the Pack Animals came to an abrupt stop, causing chaos as people fell off left and right. The entire group was thrown into disarray; countless Pack Animals and Xilulu cried out as their hooves kicked wildly, sending clouds of dust into the air. The rear half of the column came to a complete halt.
Li Hong held his head in frustration as he looked at the chaotic scene before him and awkwardly said, "I’m sorry everyone; I didn’t mean to cause this..."
"What happened? Why have we stopped?" A clear voice rang out as an Azure Shadow rushed over and stopped right in front of them in an instant.
Li Hong and Heavenly Torch's eyes lit up simultaneously as they stared at the newcomer.
The Pack Animal ridden by this person was clearly taller than those before it, measuring at least fifty feet long. Its scales shone with Azure Light; upon closer inspection, lightning crackled around its hooves, and it radiated five-colored celestial light, indicating it possessed considerable cultivation—almost like a mythical creature—no wonder it moved like lightning.
However, what stood out even more than the Pack Animal was its rider—a strikingly beautiful figure unmatched in stature.
At first glance, Li Hong noticed two incredibly smooth honey-colored legs that were muscular yet curvaceous and elongated with flawless lines. The owner of these legs wore a loose-fitting white gauze robe with a hood; the robe was wide open at the front, elegantly exposing her beautiful legs to Li Hong's gaze. She tied a silver ribbon around her waist that revealed two symmetrical graceful collarbones above it. Further up was her equally well-proportioned neck leading to an utterly flawless face. Her eyes reflected the yellow sand with brilliant golden hues that sparkled brightly; her full red lips parted slightly to reveal a row of pearly teeth. Her face was also impeccably smooth with honey tones. She gazed intently at Li Hong with surprise and confusion, appearing very young—at most seventeen or eighteen years old.
She blurted out, "You are an outsider! Where did you come from? How did you end up in the Blood Sea?"
Immediately, she jumped off the Pack Animal and stood in front of Li Hong. Li Hong noticed that she was indeed very tall; he considered himself tall, but she was a whole head taller than him. However, this did not detract from her beauty, as she was simply flawless, with her proportions perfectly balanced.
Looking at the exotic and alluring honey-skinned Tall Beauty before him, Li Hong couldn't help but swallow hard and cupped his hands in greeting. "I am Li Hong, and this is my brother Heavenly Torch. May I ask, miss, what place this is? I heard you mention the Blood Sea; is this not the Immortal Realm?"
"The Immortal Realm?" The Tall Beauty's expression changed immediately; for some reason, she seemed a bit nervous. She quickly said, "Come up," pointing to something behind her.
Behind her was a saddle with a white gauze tent on top.
Just as Li Hong was about to thank her, he saw several Azure Shadows rushing towards them from a distance. They were more robust Pack Animals that looked just like the beautiful woman and quickly approached.
The leader jumped off the Pack Animal and loudly asked, "What happened?" Upon seeing Li Hong and Heavenly Torch, his face showed clear surprise.
This was a Middle-Aged Man, around forty years old, with deep brown curly hair cascading over his shoulders. He was tall and muscular with bronze skin, wearing a warrior's outfit that revealed arms with muscles thicker than average. He wore armor below his waist and had thick calves wrapped in straps, with a broad sword hanging at his waist. Upon closer inspection, he bore some resemblance to the Tall Beauty.
Indeed, she was his daughter. The Tall Beauty frowned and said, "Father, two outsiders have arrived." As she spoke, she glanced intentionally or unintentionally at the three people behind the Middle-Aged Man.
The middle-aged man seemed fine with it; including the Tall Beauty herself, they were agile but had no cultivation. However, the three people behind him were cultivators who had reached Nascent Soul stage and were at the Late Stage Peak of Nascent Soul.
The three stood still with an air of arrogance about them. Their appearance and attire were similar to those of Middle-Earth cultivators; they all wore identical white robes with jade belts around their waists and had their hair tied up in buns secured with half-foot-long exquisite white jade hairpins. Although they appeared more like Middle-Earth individuals than the father-daughter duo, Li Hong had a very unfavorable impression of them because they remained silent and coldly stared at him and Heavenly Torch. For some reason, it felt like being watched by venomous snakes; their gazes were chilling.
The Middle-Aged Man seemed to be the leader; he paused slightly before striding over to Li Hong and Heavenly Torch and bowed deeply. "Where do you two come from? How did you end up here?"
Li Hong couldn't answer that question. Rubbing his scalp nervously, he said, "Well, it's a long story. We've been wandering in this Desert for four years now. We finally see you all; if it's convenient, could you take us along?"
The Middle-Aged Man hesitated. At that moment, Li Hong suddenly sensed a shift in the air around them.
One of the three individuals was transmitting a message, saying, "Agree to him! Take him along!"
The Middle-Aged Man immediately spoke up, "Alright, you can ride my Pack Animal."
The three cultivators remained silent on the surface, but the person in the middle transmitted another message to the Middle-Aged Man, "Inquire about their backgrounds and report back to me."
The Middle-Aged Man nodded subtly; his actions were light but still caught Li Hong's attention.
After speaking, the three cultivators no longer looked at Li Hong Tian Zhu and turned their Pack Animal around, heading back the way they came.
The Middle-Aged Man said to Li Hong, "Please wait a moment." He and his daughter raised their voices to reorganize the group before gesturing for Li Hong to proceed.
Li Hong and Heavenly Torch jumped onto his Pack Animal and entered the tent. The Middle-Aged Man also jumped up, sitting at the entrance of the tent, patting the Pack Animal's neck. The Pack Animal immediately took off at a gallop, moving faster than lightning. In the blink of an eye, it reached the front of the group before gradually slowing down.
Then, the entire group began to move forward at a steady pace under the guidance of this Pack Animal.
Li Hong and Heavenly Torch sat cross-legged at the back of the saddle. The saddle was quite spacious, slightly concave in the middle, with a soft and cool grass mat underneath. The white gauze curtains fluttered gently around them. The nearly demonic Pack Animal moved with incredible stability; despite a slight breeze outside the tent, there was no jostling or shaking as they sped through thirty or forty miles in just a breath.
On either side of the Pack Animal's belly hung many large leather bags containing various equipment. The Middle-Aged Man bent down and reached into one of the bags to retrieve a water pouch, handing it to Li Hong with a friendly smile. "You must be thirsty; have some Clear Water."
Li Hong wasn't thirsty at all and was about to shake his head in refusal when he suddenly remembered that he had been wandering in the Desert for four years. He changed his mind and took a couple of sips before asking, "What do you go by, brother?"
"You call me brother? Hehe, I suppose you are actually much older than me," the Middle-Aged Man replied with a hint of meaning in his words.
Li Hong's heart stirred as he extended his Divine Consciousness backward. Following behind were not just this Middle-Aged Man's daughter but also ten other Pack Animals, each as majestic as this one and carrying only one rider each. All ten were cultivators at the peak Late Stage of Nascent Soul. One of them was the person who had transmitted orders to the Middle-Aged Man twice earlier.
The Middle-Aged Man in front could be considered quite skilled among mortals, but in front of cultivators, he was insignificant. The true leaders should be those ten Late Stage of Nascent Soul cultivators, especially the one giving orders. Li Hong had already formed a rough idea in his mind; however, one thing puzzled him: if those ten Nascent Soul cultivators had even a little discernment, they would notice that he and Heavenly Torch were much stronger than them. In the Cultivation World where strength is revered, why did they show no respect whatsoever and even seemed to look down on him and Heavenly Torch?
Li Hong's mind raced with thoughts, but he smiled and said, "Where are you from? May I ask your esteemed name?"
"Hehe, I am Xi Che. How should I address this elder brother?" Xi Che clasped his hands and directed his gaze toward Heavenly Torch.
Heavenly Torch waved his hand dismissively and said, "I am Heavenly Torch. I have little patience for socializing. Right now, I'm tired and want to sleep. If you have any questions, just ask my brother." Heavenly Torch lay down, his robust body taking up half the tent. In a moment, he began to snore loudly, the sound echoing through the tent like thunder.
Li Hong smiled; this old dragon was indeed considerate. He had been pondering how to discreetly block the hearing of those ten people, and now Heavenly Torch had provided the perfect solution. In such "special" snoring, those ten people would likely struggle to hear anything at all.
At the same time, Xi Che noticed as well. His yellow-brown eyes lit up as he spoke slowly, "Now, you can speak."
His tone was quite peculiar. Li Hong sensed that he had no cultivation, yet when he spoke these words, he used a special technique; his voice rose and fell in pitch, perfectly interwoven with Heavenly Torch's snoring to create an impeccable cover.
This must be a special musical technique that only someone with an extraordinary mastery of sound could achieve so flawlessly. Li Hong was certain that only he could hear those words.
Xi Che did not appear to be merely an ordinary martial artist as he seemed on the surface.
Li Hong solemnly clasped his hands and transmitted his voice, saying, "I am known as Chu Hongzi, a person from Luliang in Middle-Earth, the Seventeenth Generation Sect Leader of Nine Departures Sect. I ascended here. However, this celestial realm is completely different from what is said in the lower realms! Please enlighten me, Brother Xi Che; I would be immensely grateful!"
