Deep within Taihang, the Winter Snow lay thick, with no birds or beasts in sight, and human presence was rare, creating a scene of tranquil desolation wrapped in silver.
Suddenly, a bright flash of light erupted, followed by a deep rumble, as if a great star had fallen from the sky and struck the ground hard. The entire Taihang trembled violently, and countless mountain peaks seemed to shake in response to the muffled roar.
The flames flashed fiercely again.
Yet when one looked again, nothing could be seen; all was calm as before.
However, that deep rumbling sound continued unabated, one after another, echoing like a restless giant awakening throughout Taihang.
From deep underground came a low, thudding drumbeat.
The sound was unusually deep, resonating within the heart, causing it to beat in rhythm and stirring an increasing sense of anxiety and fear.
Hunters on the mountainside looked up in confusion, gazing into the depths of Taihang. They were soon stunned.
In the distance, countless dark figures were rushing toward them from all directions—numerous mountain beasts of various sizes. Muntjacs were surprisingly running alongside leopards and wolves, competing in speed as they traversed the mountains. The sky was filled with birds taking flight en masse; owls and sparrows swarmed out like dark clouds. Yet some vultures and eagles hesitated to leave their nests, screeching as they dove down only to strangely vanish mid-air.
The hunters were dumbfounded. One shouted, "The Mountain God is driving the beasts! Run!"
This single warning alerted everyone. The hunters grabbed their bows and iron spears and turned to flee down the mountain. Before long, the horde of mountain beasts caught up with them but paid no attention to their natural enemies as they swiftly darted past.
Legend had it that the local mountain god would go hunting at intervals, accompanied by a grand entourage of countless servants and banners waving across the hills. It was said that one must avoid crossing paths with the Mountain God during his hunts because he detested human presence.
All the hunters knew this legend but never expected to witness it firsthand today.
As they ran after the wild beasts at full speed, they gradually realized that these creatures were actually heading out of the mountains. Some Muntjacs noticed the thinning trees and began to stop, lowering their heads to graze on the dry grass beneath the thick snow.
The hunters were overjoyed; the Mountain God was driving so many fine mountain beasts toward them poor folk! They immediately knelt in the snow, bowing in gratitude to the mountain god before beginning their hunt.
Although the harvest was abundant, they always noticed that the deep mountain's rumbling vibrations had not ceased, continuing for a full day and night. By the early morning of the third day, the dull drumbeats from Underground finally disappeared.
When daylight broke, someone shouted from a high place, "Everyone, come and see!"
The crowd rushed up a Summit, looking deep into Taihang.
What they saw was an entirely new mountain range they had never seen before!
Countless deep ravines and sheer cliffs appeared in the long dragon-like mountains, as if many celestial beings had cleaved through the sky with swords, revealing unsightly yellow-brown stone walls devoid of any vegetation. The entire mountainous landscape had completely changed, and in the middle of winter, all the mountains were exposed, with the thick blanket of white snow completely vanished. Upon closer inspection, some areas showed signs of recent lightning strikes with obvious scorch marks.
Gradually, everyone began to feel something was different; the air was exceptionally refreshing, with a faint strange fragrance lingering in their noses. Wisps of cloud began to gather in the mountains, growing thicker and transforming into white mist that flowed through the valleys, giving this newly formed majestic mountain range an ethereal beauty, like a fairyland.
Just as they were captivated by the scene, a thunderclap sounded, and suddenly it began to pour rain from the sky.
The crowd was dumbfounded; it was not snowing but raining! In midwinter!
The rain fell like a white curtain cascading down endlessly, washing over the mountains and valleys. The mountains became increasingly fresh and clean; the faint black mist that had lingered below was washed away without a trace by this downpour.
In just a moment, the heavy rain stopped as abruptly as it had started, followed by a true snowfall that lasted three days. After the snowstorm, Taihang returned to its original calm and beauty.
In the clouds above, New Luo Xuanwei and Azure Sky Three Sects stood together. The once-thousand-strong team was now halved, and nearly everyone remaining bore injuries, yet all wore expressions of victorious joy.
New Luo Sect Leader Yuan Zhenzi stood barefoot with disheveled hair; the back hem of her azure crane cloak was mostly torn away as if struck by something powerful, with charred black edges. This treasured garment of hers was now ruined. Upon closer inspection, even Yuan Zhenzi's Long Hair draped over her back had been affected and was significantly shorter.
Yuan Zhenzi's face was slightly pale, clearly due to excessive energy expenditure. She had taken three Water Essence Pills to replenish her spiritual power before summoning her dazzling Eight Treasure Glazed Vase into her hand.
Yuan Zhenzi smiled and said, "My New Luo may lack other skills, but when it comes to water, I have some small abilities. This Eight Treasure Glazed Vase contains three drops of celestial water left by our Ancestor. Just one drop can bring forth life in countless trees. I have just used my magic to erase all traces of battle. From now on, there will be no Ruyi Palace here, no Yin Spirit Eye."
Azure Sky Palace Master Chonglingzi nodded repeatedly, but he seemed to have something on his mind, his expression absent as if lost in thought.
Yuan Zhenzi cast a cold glance at him before shifting his gaze to Xuanwei Master Anqi Zi.
This was an elderly cultivator with an ethereal presence, dressed as a Taoist priest, holding a whisk. His long White Hair was tied into a perfectly smooth bun, adorned with a dragon's whisker wooden hairpin about a foot long. His flowing sleeves exuded an extraordinary air. Once radiant and youthful, Anqi Zi now appeared to be slowly withering away; his skin was becoming increasingly yellow and dry, with age spots beginning to show.
Yuan Zhenzi frowned deeply; this was a sign of severe injury to the Nascent Soul. It seemed that Anqi Zi's condition was worsening.
Earlier, the three of them—Yuan Zhenzi, Anqi Zi, and Chonglingzi—had fought against Ruyi Hall Master Buxueyi and two of his highest-ranking Guardian Elders, battling for an entire day and night.
Yuan Zhenzi had been facing off against Buxueyi. She never expected that the Ruyi Hall Master would possess a water spirit constitution, and a rare pure one at that. At that moment, she felt immense regret; such a constitution was most suitable for cultivating the New Luo Heart Method. If found by the New Luo Sect in her childhood, she could have become a formidable ally for the righteous path. Unfortunately, she had fallen into the hands of the Demon Sect.
During the chaotic battle, as the lines of conflict widened, Buxueyi suddenly launched a sneak attack. Caught off guard, Yuan Zhenzi nearly fell victim to it. In a moment of crisis, Anqi Zi swung his whisk, using the renowned treasure Golden Silk Primordial Sword to block the attack meant for Yuan Zhenzi. However, due to this distraction, Anqi Zi suffered a strike from his opponent's dark thunder. He managed to endure it at the time, but now his injuries were gradually worsening from within.
Yuan Zhenzi bowed deeply to Anqi Zi, saying, “The Demon has already been dealt with. I urge you, Master Brother, to return to our sect quickly to heal your wounds. I will take care of all subsequent matters. After this is over, I will personally visit Xuanwei to check on Elder Brother Zhangmen's injuries.” He handed over a jade vial containing a Heavenly Soul Pill.
The Heavenly Soul Pill, ranked first among human-level medicines, is a renowned healing elixir from the Immortal Sect. The New Luo Sect had spent a millennium gathering all the necessary herbs for its formulation and had commissioned Heavenly Grain to refine nine pills years ago, which they had preserved until now. Since Anqi Zi had saved his life before, Yuan Zhenzi was generous in offering it.
After expressing his gratitude without further ado, Anqi Zi nodded at Chonglingzi, then led the remaining members of the Xuan Wei Sect back to their sect.
Watching them disappear into the clouds, Yuan Zhenzi turned around, his gaze sharpening as he looked at Chonglingzi, half-smiling and half-serious. “What’s wrong? Does Master Brother Chonglingzi have something on his mind?”
With an increasingly unsettled demeanor, Chonglingzi clasped his hands toward Yuan Zhenzi, saying, “The distance from my Azure Sky Palace to Piao Ling Hall is quite short, yet we have received no news thus far. I am somewhat worried; I must take my leave and return to our sect to investigate the outcome of the battle between the Penglai Chaozhen Gate and Piao Ling Hall.”
With that said, he signaled for his disciples to follow him and prepared to depart.
Yuan Zhenzi shouted loudly, “Wait!”
Chonglingzi turned around in shock and asked, "Sister Master, is there something else?"
Yuan Zhenzi sneered, "Let me ask you, why does your Azure Sky Palace, being so close to Piao Ling Hall, have the sect leader send you to attack Ruyi Palace with me? Are you more concerned about the Immortal Sect, Penglai Sect, and Zhao Zhen Sect being harmed, or are you worried about Piao Ling Hall?"
Chonglingzi's expression changed dramatically; his lips moved several times, but he couldn't utter a word for a long while.
Looking at the disciples of Azure Sky Palace, their faces began to show signs of strangeness.
Yuan Zhenzi understood and sneered even more, "Since Elder Brother Zhangmen wants to continue the battle, then so be it. Disciples, follow my orders!"
"Yes!" The female disciples of New Luo responded one after another.
Yuan Zhenzi turned her gaze to Green Lotus. "Sister Green Lotus, you take all the injured back to our sect. The rest who still have strength will come with me. We will follow Chonglingzi and fight against the Demon Sect Monster once more!"
Chonglingzi's expression changed even more; his eyes flickered but he hesitated to respond.
Meanwhile, New Luo Sect had already completed their assignments. The uninjured members flew to Yuan Zhenzi's side, while Green Lotus led the injured ones. She bowed respectfully to Yuan Zhenzi and immediately took off without saying a word.
"Let's go! What are you waiting for, Elder Brother Zhangmen?!" Yuan Zhenzi coldly urged Chonglingzi to move.
Chonglingzi's expression shifted repeatedly; just as he was about to refuse, several piercing gazes from his own disciples landed on him—those were several Nascent Soul Elders from his sect. Their cultivation levels were even above Chonglingzi's, and their eyes flashed with an unspeakable severity and killing intent.
Chonglingzi's momentum diminished; he could only nod helplessly and turned to follow Yuan Zhenzi and the New Luo disciples southward.
Yuan Zhenzi secretly let out a sigh of relief.
She remembered the instructions given to her by Xuan Xuzi before the war began.
Demon Sect Four Great Hidden Halls has its most mysterious location in the south, known as Piao Ling Hall. While Ruyi Palace is filled with rabbits, it is said that Piao Ling Hall consists entirely of female disciples, each as beautiful as a celestial being.
The master of Piao Ling Hall is named Yin Yuwei, the fourth disciple of the Yandao Demon Lord. She is rumored to be an unparalleled beauty, but very few have actually seen her. This is because Yin Yuwei has never appeared in any of the major battles of the Demon Sect, and the people of Piao Ling Hall rarely show themselves in the mortal realm, supposedly due to her strict regulations.
Occasionally, local legends speak of a mysterious Mountain Mistress who punishes unfaithful men. If such a man exists within a thousand miles, he will immediately be known to the Mountain Mistress, who will then annihilate his entire family. This explains why the moral conduct in the vicinity of Piao Ling Hall is surprisingly good; there are many accounts of men being devoted to their partners, all attributed to the peculiar preferences of Yin Yuwei, the master of Piao Ling Hall.
Aside from her penchant for punishing unfaithful men, Piao Ling Hall has no other notorious deeds. Yin Yuwei and her female disciples seldom appear in the mortal world.
However, regardless of everything, Piao Ling Hall is indeed one of the Demon Sect Four Great Hidden Halls. It is located merely a hundred miles from Azure Sky Palace, with overlapping territories, yet they have coexisted peacefully. This is nothing short of a miracle given the tense relations between the Immortal Sect and the Demon Sect.
There lies a significant secret within this situation.

A few words outside the book.
This book has been written for over half a year now, exceeding one hundred twenty thousand words. I cannot claim it to be perfect or exceptionally good, but every word represents my hard work. I understand that the current economy is not great and many readers prefer to read pirated versions. However, think about it: I have quietly dedicated over six months to this book, and the revenue from subscriptions and royalties is so meager that I feel embarrassed to disclose it!
I kindly ask everyone to support legitimate subscriptions as much as possible. If you find it too expensive, even subscribing to a few chapters would be appreciated, or perhaps visiting the official page to show some support would mean a lot. I would be very grateful for any help!
