Chuxiong's expression became calm; he knew that the fierce battle had just begun.
He had previously found it strange that the strength of the Underworld Palace seemed to be more than this, and while Ironclad Cold Strength was formidable, it oddly lacked fighting spirit, as if it had planned to retreat from the very beginning. It turned out to be because of the Nine Nether Green Demon.
This Nine Nether Green Demon was the true trump card of the Underworld Palace.
Chuxiong had already pushed his entire strength to the limit, with his Nascent Soul continuously assuming various mysterious postures in the Dantian space. A powerful and unknown golden spiritual energy surged throughout his body, flooding into the Heavenly Axe. This Divine Weapon had reached its maximum limit, shining like a blazing sun. With one swing, a fierce wind howled, and large portions of the Corpse Mountain below silently vanished, turning to dust.
However, the Nine Nether Green Demon was also growing stronger. Its green scales became thicker and darker, gradually emanating a strange dark luster. If Li Hong were present, he would be greatly astonished because this was an Eerie Dark Light that could only be found in extremely rare extraterrestrial iron.
The Eerie Dark Light greatly reinforced the Nine Nether Green Demon's scales, making its outer skin extremely smooth and hard. With each swing of Chuxiong's axe, sometimes it would slide off effortlessly, while other times it would only leave a white mark. It was no longer as easy to injure as before.
Chuxiong thought carefully and immediately understood the reason.
When he first charged in, the Nine Nether Green Demon had just been summoned and its form was not yet stable. As time passed and it began to battle Chuxiong fiercely, all its potential started to be unleashed. Its body underwent changes, gradually adapting to this realm; its combat form became increasingly stable, and its strength rose to another level.
This confirmed that the Nine Nether Green Demon was indeed an extraordinary creature!
Upon closer inspection, Chuxiong noticed that the Nine Nether Green Demon's eyes were also changing. They resembled blood lakes, shimmering with a ghostly red hue. The slender red pupils reflected reactions to their surroundings—curiosity, anger, and a clear thirst for blood.
This creature had gained intelligence!
Chuxiong found himself in a grueling struggle; their states were locked in a stalemate. He could not inflict any damage on the Nine Nether Green Demon, nor could it harm him.
In the eyes of the Nine Nether Green Demon, this little red thing was nothing more than a pesky fly buzzing around it. Although that large spike in its hand could not pierce its skin, the strange dark energy contained within caused intense soreness in its muscles and bones with each jab, taking a long time to recover. Consequently, the Nine Nether Green Demon grew increasingly furious, wishing it could swat this annoying fly dead!
Its gaze began to agilely pursue Chuxiong, no matter which direction Chuxiong flew, its two long arms, resembling those of a gibbon, followed suit, reaching out to grasp Chuxiong's body in an attempt to crush him. The deep, foul-smelling mouth, reminiscent of a pit, opened wider and wider, revealing rows of jagged shark-like teeth, a bright red tongue, and a dark throat. From within came a sound like a bellows expelling air and a long, drawn-out howl.
The strange sounds echoed throughout the Underground space. Although the ceiling of the ninth layer had been reinforced by various Restrictions from the Demon Sect, it could not withstand the pressure and began to collapse, large chunks of stone and debris falling onto the Nine Nether Green Demon’s head and body.
The Nine Nether Green Demon sensed something was wrong. It twisted its waist and turned around, its two blood-red demonic eyes immediately spotting the upward passage.
However, it was soon disappointed; the passage was too small! It could barely fit one of its fists!
It began to howl in anger, ignoring Chuxiong entirely as it suddenly jumped up and smashed its fist against the ceiling.
With a loud crash, a large hole broke open above. The Nine Nether Green Demon seemed to see light shining from above; the bright red pupils in its dark red eyes glowed even more intensely as it continued to ignore everything else, punching upwards again and again.
The entire ninth layer shook violently as large chunks of rubble fell like small mountains. Chuxiong raised the Heavenly Axe above his head; although he easily blocked the falling stones, he could no longer engage in combat.
The hole grew larger and larger. Suddenly, the Nine Nether Green Demon leaped up, forcefully pulling its entire body upwards. With its gibbon-like arms stretched out, it aimed to jump to the eighth layer.
At that moment, Chuxiong caught sight of its left foot.
This left foot was already suspended in mid-air, with only half of the foot remaining. The severed surface was bright red and about the size of a strong man's body, with blood mixed with black mist still oozing from it.
Chuxiong's eyes lit up. Without hesitation, he gripped the Heavenly Axe in his hand and swung it towards the severed surface.
A large amount of Fresh Red Liquid splattered everywhere as the axe cleanly severed what remained of the foot.
The Nine Nether Green Demon trembled in pain, howling miserably as it accelerated upward, using its long arms to propel itself to the eighth level.
Chuxiong closely pursued, aiming at the increasingly large wound, striking with axe after axe.
The demon's outer skin was tough, but it had a congenital weakness: the incomplete leg.
With each swing of the Heavenly Axe, it penetrated deeper, quickly reaching the demon's calf. Below the calf, flesh and blood were completely gone; although the outer skin remained tough, it had lost the internal support of flesh and blood, becoming like a snake shedding its skin, now limp and hanging at the bend of the knee. Meanwhile, under Chuxiong's command, the Heavenly Axe continued to dig in.
The Nine Nether Green Demon howled in panic, desperately wanting to absorb flesh and blood to heal its wounds. Its instincts told it that there were many people on the ground, many sources of blood and flesh; if it could just reach them and consume them, even the worst injuries could be healed.
While howling in pain, it twisted its body, repeatedly ramming its hard curved horns against the ceiling above. At the same time, its long arms pounded any obstacles in sight with fierce punches, writhing like a giant snake shedding its skin as it leaped upward.
Seventh level, sixth level, fifth level...
Finally, a bright light appeared before it. The Nine Nether Green Demon exerted all its strength to push upward; it saw the blue sky and white clouds above, along with many moving sources of delicious... flesh!
It strained to support itself with its long arms and suddenly lunged out of the massive hole. Just then, it realized that only one leg seemed to be functioning.
Looking down, it saw that its right leg was intact, but its left leg was nothing but skin!
The root of the left leg still throbbed with excruciating pain that seemed to burrow deeper into its belly. Suddenly overwhelmed by a sense of impending doom, it let out a desperate howl.
Countless beams of colorful light filled with immense energy shot toward the Nine Nether Green Demon from all directions like a rain of powerful crossbows, accompanied by the shouts of numerous people.
Du Yizi, Jiang Xuanzi, Sister Sheyu, and the others all turned pale. They did not see Chuxiongzi, but instead witnessed a massive monster leap onto the ground. Its two enormous curved horns nearly reached the Mystic Spirit Net above, and its entire body emanated a strange black glow, impervious to water and fire. The magical treasures of everyone present seemed like children's toys in front of its formidable physique; striking it only made the creature roar in anger without inflicting any damage.
Suddenly, the monster's massive body twisted sharply, and a row of densely packed steel spikes, glowing eerily, shot out from its arm at a distance of about ten feet, aimed directly at Du Yizi, Jiang Xuanzi, Sister Sheyu, and the other leaders.
The speed of the spikes was astonishing, accompanied by terrifying sonic booms. Sister Sheyu and the others only caught a glimpse of black dots as their minds barely registered what was happening before the spikes were already flying toward them.
Everyone shouted in alarm and unleashed their ultimate techniques.
Du Yizi's demon tail swiftly flew forward, curling into a hard shield that protected her body. The sound of clashing echoed as Du Yizi was forced to retreat, being pushed back thousands of feet by the spikes. She managed to stop herself with a sudden stomp on the ground, leaving deep grooves that reached halfway up her body. However, she soon let out a muffled groan, her face pale as paper, with a sticky trail of blood trickling from her mouth.
Seeing the urgency of the situation, Jiang Xuanzi quickly summoned his life-bound demon sword to block in front of him. Fortunately, this sword was forged from his own beak and was incredibly tough. The sound of clanging filled the air as Jiang Xuanzi also retreated, flying back thousands of feet before he could stop. Although he did not suffer internal injuries, his demonic energy surged uncomfortably in his chest due to the impact; however, his cultivation was slightly stronger than Du Yizi's.
As for the Shooting Jade Fairy, she had two life-bound demon needles that had been refined over thousands of years within her demon eyes. In her haste, she summoned them quickly; with two sharp sounds, she managed to deflect two of the Nine Nether Azure Demon Steel Spikes. However, three more still charged toward her body. She had no choice but to dodge desperately, creating numerous afterimages as she maneuvered through the narrow space and barely avoided the spikes.
The other Beast Cultivators did not possess such powerful demonic energy as these three! Aside from those who could transform into birds and fly away without concern for dodging the deadly steel spikes, the remaining earth demons lacked such means. They could only scream in horror as the rapid-fire steel spikes struck down over a dozen Great Demons, sending them flying over a thousand feet before pinning them brutally to the ground.
One spike even pierced through three individuals in succession; their momentum did not cease as all three demons were pinned down but remained alive, howling loudly in agony.
This direction was filled with sorrowful cries.
Du Yizi quickly pulled out a bottle of Elixir and hastily swallowed several pills before soaring back into action. She shouted, "We must kill it! We cannot let it escape from the Mystic Spirit Net and harm humanity!"
Sister Sheyu also cried out loudly: "Everyone below Demon Infant Stage retreat to tend to the injured! The rest follow us!"
A group of Great Demons was ready to fight with all their might!
Each one unleashed their massive true forms, and in an instant, the Beast Roar echoed as they surrounded the Nine Nether Green Demon, their eyes blood-red.
However, the Nine Nether Green Demon was quite Strange. After shooting out a row of steel spikes, it remained stationary, panting heavily. Looking at the enormous and delicious "meat" before it, it was clearly drooling with desire, foul-smelling saliva dripping from its mouth. Yet, its expression gradually became peculiar—seeming to be in pain, angered, and in disbelief. Regardless of its thoughts, it suddenly stopped moving.
The Great Demons were puzzled. Du Yizi turned his massive dog head, his eyes filled with evident suspicion. He asked the Shooting Jade Fairy, "What do you think is wrong with this Nine Nether Green Demon?"
A Nine-Tailed White Fox, as large as a small mountain, squatted on the ground. Its long and bright fox eyes were fixed on the Nine Nether Green Demon, equally confused. After a moment of hesitation, it said, "I sense a presence of Chuxiongzi within its belly. Could it be that it has eaten Chuxiongzi?"
"What! It ate my sworn brother's Cousin! I will fight it!" Du Yizi roared angrily, raising his sharp tiger claw. The five sharp spikes on his head extended like three-foot-long steel needles as he swiped a claw at the Nine Nether Green Demon.
Just then, an unexpected change occurred.
