Evil God City shook violently, and amidst the loud crashing sounds, enormous cracks appeared in the ground. The distant mountains swayed fiercely, and countless startled birds flew into the sky, as if a vast black cloud had risen.
The longest and deepest crack ran straight through the pyramid, splitting Evil God City in half. Countless Indigenous People who happened to be in this area fell into the deep fissures like dumplings dropped into boiling water.
In the terrified eyes of the temple priests, the central well opening grew wider and wider, as the pyramid-shaped temple along with its high base slowly split apart. Like a small boat bobbing up and down in towering waves, the priests were tossed about, disoriented and panicking as they desperately tried to escape.
No one noticed that from the deep well opening emerged a blazing human-shaped Hokage. As Hokage flew out, the flames on its body extinguished instantly, revealing a person who looked around expressionlessly before heading straight towards the southeast of Evil God City.
The water prison below had already leaked like a sieve, with the water level dropping sharply to reveal a thick layer of muck mixed with corpses, bones, and garbage. The surviving Indigenous People captives struggled for breath in this layer of filth. Witnessing the earth tremble and Evil God City crumble amidst thunderous roars, enemies ran in panic everywhere. Some older Indigenous People captives remained unafraid; their faces solemn as they knelt in the muck, chanting. If Akateke were here, he would surely understand that these elder Indigenous People captives were saying: "The gods have finally grown angry; the wicked sinners are being punished; their end has come! May their souls find peace in hell!"
Suddenly, there was a bright flash as an enormous wooden barrier made of thick logs that covered the water prison flew away with a loud crash, smashing through houses and city walls, heading straight into the jungle and raising a massive cloud of dust, creating a wide road over a hundred feet across.
Standing at the edge of the jungle anxiously watching Evil God City, Akateke stared in shock as this colossal object came flying towards him, his legs turning to jelly and unable to move.
The massive wooden barrier crashed through countless objects with terrifying force and fortuitously stopped right at Akateke's feet, with a protruding wooden stake less than half a foot from his nose.
Akateke fell to his knees with a thud, raising his hands to praise the gods. When he looked up again, he saw countless dark figures rushing towards him.
With tears of joy in his eyes, Akateke shouted and quickly ran to meet them.
As they got closer, he could see the excited and joyful faces of his fellow tribespeople, their faces shimmering with tears of happiness. Soon, Akateke found his kin.
As he led his people into the jungle, he turned back one last time. Evil God City shook even more violently now, flames rising everywhere; the entire Basin was as bright as day. The central pyramid and its temple had become a pile of large rubble, with a conspicuous deep black hole at its center.
Atop the high pile of stones stood a towering figure. That person stood on top of the rubble; amidst the flickering flames, their silhouette appeared grand and imposing. As if sensing something, that person suddenly turned around; Akateke distinctly felt they were looking at him. Then that person waved their hand and leaped into the enormous black hole.
Once again filled with tears of emotion, Akateke knelt on one knee and shouted: "Take care, hero!" He led his people away quickly without looking back.
From then on, this place became known as the "Cursed Land" in the eyes of the Indigenous People, with countless legends about heroes battling against Evil God passed down through generations in their tribes.
In the dark abyss of the Underground, the battle was far from over.
The Feathered Serpent was severely injured at its vital point by Li Hong, with a massive amount of flesh and blood spraying out. However, its body was simply too large; for it, this loss was merely a small bowl's worth. Despite the pain, it quickly began to counterattack, spewing forth a torrent of venom.
At that moment, as it tilted its head to release the venom, its mountain-like body finally lifted slightly. In that instant, Li Hong noticed a dark opening on the lower left side of the stone wall, from which thick black mist was emanating—familiar Ethereal Energy. Unfortunately, the Feathered Serpent soon covered the opening again.
To enter, they first needed to drive away this annoying long worm.
Golden light flashed brightly as the battle form of Little Fei unleashed a massive energy sphere that struck directly at the Feathered Serpent's left eye.
The Feathered Serpent let out a pained roar, raising its long, massive tail from the abyss and slamming it down far behind. The ground shook violently as large rocks crumbled, causing the entire Underground Abyss to tremble once more.
One Demon Lantern had already been extinguished by Little Fei, leaving only an eerie red light weaving through the black mist.
Li Hong shouted loudly, "Alright! Watch me!" The Divine Slaying Monument spun downwards, hitting the already bloodied hole between the Feathered Serpent's wings once again.
The golden light pierced through as the Divine Slaying Monument plunged deep into the blood hole, striking deep within the Feathered Serpent's body.
With a roar like thunder, the Feathered Serpent expelled a large amount of purple blood mixed with foam. The thick purple blood coated the stone wall in a terrifying glossy dark purple hue, accompanied by rising heat and strange sizzling sounds.
"The snake's blood is highly toxic! Everyone be careful!" Ling Yi Zi shouted from afar, followed by a flash of white lightning striking down.
Ask the Way suddenly expanded to ten zhang in size and aimed directly at the Feathered Serpent's remaining right eye.
The Feathered Serpent trembled all over. In that fleeting moment, Li Hong, Ling Yi Zi, and Little Fei all sensed immense danger and instinctively retreated quickly.
A hissing sound filled the air as shadowy figures swirled around them amidst the terrifying wind of Cave Full of Crystals.
All the poisonous spines covering the Feathered Serpent's neck shot out like crossbow bolts, each one targeting Li Hong, Ling Yi Zi, and Little Fei. Some even struck Ask the Way back with such force that it rebounded towards Ling Yi Zi himself.
Li Hong was alarmed and shouted, "Control it!"
Ling Yi Zi executed the sword technique with a swift point, managing to redirect the attack aimed at him just in time.
With a loud crash, the massive Divine Weapon plunged into the stone wall, creating a deep hole.
Ling Yi Zi regained his composure and summoned the shrunk “Ask the Way” back into his hand. He awkwardly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
At the same time, Little Fei quickly unleashed a torrent of golden light, knocking away the dense barrage of poisonous spikes that were flying towards him and Ling Yi Zi. Meanwhile, Li Hong, after deflecting a few spikes, suddenly remembered that these were rare treasures for refining weapons. Without hesitation, he activated the Eight Formation Flag, hiding himself within its space to rapidly collect the Feathered Serpent's poisonous spikes.
Though it may sound lengthy, all of this happened in an instant. In the blink of an eye, the neck of the Feathered Serpent became completely bare as it expelled all its poisonous spikes without harming Li Hong or his companions in the slightest. The venom and spikes were the Feathered Serpent's most lethal final weapons, but they had no effect on its top three enemies, causing it to begin feeling fear.
A strange red light flashed from its remaining right eye as two enormous iron wings spread open again. The airflow in the cave began to swirl violently, blowing Li Hong and his companions around like leaves in a storm. The Feathered Serpent lifted its massive head, its long tongue darting out to strike the stone ceiling. With a thunderous roar, rocks began to rain down upon itself, yet it seemed oblivious to the danger as it continued to lash out with its tongue against the ceiling, causing tremors that made the ground shake and cracks to widen.
“What is it doing? Does it want to collapse the cave and perish with us?” Ling Yi Zi shouted.
“No! I think it’s trying to escape!” Li Hong exclaimed as he steadied himself. The Divine Slaying Monument came crashing down once more, accurately striking its vital point again.
The spine between its wings was nearly crushed under the blow. The Feathered Serpent roared in pain but paid no heed; it relentlessly struck its tongue against the stone ceiling again, causing another violent tremor. Dust and stones from the Cave Full of Crystals fell like rain, each piece weighing thousands of pounds.
If even one hit them, they would be reduced to powder. Li Hong, Ling Yi Zi, and Little Fei dodged left and right, momentarily unable to attack the Feathered Serpent.
At that moment, an idea struck Li Hong. He had secretly hidden his Earth Soul Avatar near the entrance of the Yin Spirit Eye. As the Feathered Serpent raised its body, the Earth Soul Avatar immediately slipped inside.
The Feathered Serpent quickly noticed and began thrashing wildly. Suddenly, Li Hong felt a sharp pain in his eardrum; before he could comprehend what was happening, darkness enveloped him only to be followed by blinding light.
His body sped through the rain of rocks. After catching his breath for a moment, Li Hong inadvertently looked up and was astonished to see a brilliant starry sky!
“Roar…” The Feathered Serpent howled furiously. It had finally broken through the ceiling of the cave; its massive head emerged above ground towards the vast starry sky. In utter despair, it let out a chilling scream that froze blood.
The entire Basin had completely collapsed; while its upper body was exposed to starlight, its lower half remained stuck underground. No matter how hard it struggled to leap free from the depths of the earth or how wide it spread its enormous iron wings, they became wedged halfway in between cracks in the stone.
"Kill it!" Li Hong roared, launching himself into the air like a shooting star, leaving behind a trail of dazzling flames. The Divine Slaying Monument came crashing down once more.
Little Fei and Ling Yi Zi struck simultaneously, both attacking the waterlogged dog trapped in the crevice—the Feathered Serpent.
With each strike of the Divine Slaying Monument, it soared up and came crashing down again... After an unknown number of blows, Li Hong was left panting, his awareness nearly gone. As dawn broke, he finally stopped.
The Feathered Serpent had turned into a pile of barely recognizable flesh, its head completely severed from its body. The massive serpent's tail still weakly swayed deep beneath the ground, while its head lay alone in a deep purple-black pool of blood on the surface.
Li Hongfei approached the Feathered Serpent's forehead, combining the Five Elements Shuttle into one. With a thunderous sound, he pierced through the Feathered Serpent's skull. With a swift pull of his heart's intent, he extracted a brilliant blue light.
It resembled a large, crystal-clear blue gemstone the size of a tabletop, shimmering with iridescence—a stunning beauty that was the essence demon core cultivated by the Feathered Serpent over a hundred thousand years.
Once the demon core emerged, the Feathered Serpent quickly shriveled up. In just a moment, everything—skin, flesh, and bones—turned into a lake of Black Water, leaving only two massive, hard horns behind.
Li Hong collected the demon core and horns, turned around, and laughed heartily at the panting Ling Yi Zi and Little Fei, saying, "Now let's go down!"
