The air around Li Hong suddenly vanished, and a massive cyclone formed in place, causing his eardrums to buzz.
Beneath him was a cold, dark, foul-smelling abyss, with the gaping maw of a monster below, sucking in forcefully. Li Hong plummeted like a bullet, and in an instant, his feet landed on a sticky, slippery platform.
The platform was crimson and reeked of decay, stretching out continuously and possessing remarkable elasticity. Li Hong's scalp tingled; it was not a platform at all! It was the monster's enormous tongue!
The immense suction pulled Li Hong's body backward uncontrollably, right toward the monster's throat!
Li Hong shouted loudly, thrusting Lingyi deep into the monster's massive blood-red tongue! A torrent of foul black blood gushed out like a water dragon, splattering all over Li Hong.
The monster let out a muffled roar and violently twisted its body, its throat wide open, increasing the suction even more. Li Hong's feet lifted off the tongue, and his entire body floated at the entrance of the monster's throat, suspended in mid-air by Lingyi.
Li Hong felt no fear; instead, he was filled with excitement and an uncontrollable fighting spirit surged within him.
"Little Fei, come out!"
Golden light shot forth as Little Fei emerged with four golden wings sprouting from its back, curiously hovering above the monster's head. "Huh? What kind of monster is this?"
"I need to stretch my muscles; you stay aside for now!"
"Yes, Master!"
Just then, the long robe splattered with black blood was finally swept away by a strong gust of wind, its belt undone. The robe fluttered and disappeared deep into the monster's throat.
With a thought, the Void Flame Armor enveloped him as True Fire blazed around him. Li Hong shot out of the monster's mouth like a small fire bean. Lingyi suddenly expanded, unleashing a dazzling iridescence as he swung it toward the monster's enormous tongue that was reaching out.
At the same time, above him, Ling Yi Zi also moved. "Ask the Way" unleashed a blade of light extending for hundreds of feet, directly targeting one of the monster's large red eyes.
What a creature; it reacted swiftly!
Despite its massive body appearing cumbersome, it moved with incredible agility. With a rustling sound, the giant poisonous spikes on the monster's head opened up like mountains. The tips were sharp as blades. With a slight tilt of its head, the flying Ling Yi Zi seemed to steer itself directly into the spikes, looking as if it would be pierced through.
Ling Yi Zi remained calm; with a thought, "Ask the Way" suddenly elongated, its tip perfectly landing on one of the spikes. The momentum of its charge came to an abrupt halt.
Below, Lingyi was about to slice the giant tongue in half, but unexpectedly, the tongue twisted in mid-air, flexibly dodging Lingyi and extending rapidly towards Li Hong's body.
As a flash of bright red suddenly expanded before his face, Lingyi had no time to call it back. The Moonlight of the Waning Moon shot out from his forehead, slicing towards the tip of the monster's tongue like lightning. Taking advantage of this moment, Li Hong swiftly dodged to the side, and with a thought, summoned his Earth Soul Avatar. Without hesitation, he transferred command of Yue Que and Lingyi to it and took charge of the Five Elements Shuttle himself.
The monster seemed to have eyes on its tongue, accurately avoiding Yue Que. Moments later, it realized that there were two identical enemies right in front of its mouth.
The monster appeared somewhat flustered and suddenly retracted its long tongue.
A strong wind rushed towards them as the monster blew forcefully, seemingly trying to blow away these two identical strange enemies.
This tactic surprisingly worked. Li Hong and the Earth Soul Avatar were caught off guard and were blown tumbling away until they crashed against the stone wall at the cave's edge, rebounding several times with immense force before gradually slowing down.
Connected in mind and spirit, both the main body and the avatar stabilized their forms and immediately lunged forward. The Five-Color Radiance's Five Elements Shuttle spun rapidly around Li Hong's main body, making it appear as if he was wrapped in a layer of iridescent shield; meanwhile, the Earth Soul Avatar remained relatively still while Yue Que defended Lingyi, both artifacts performing at their peak in a dynamic yet static manner.
Ling Yi Zi targeted the monster's right eye while the avatar aimed for the left eye. With a massive skull between them, they began their fierce battle against the monster.
Li Hong's main body circled around the monster's large head and flew towards its long, coiled body.
To strike at its weak point! No matter how bizarre or enormous this creature was, it was still fundamentally a snake. Li Hong decided to find its weak spot and eliminate it!
After flying for a while, the enormous head was now far behind him. There, Ling Yi Zi and the avatar were engaged in an intense battle with the Strange Snake. The commotion was earth-shattering; the cave trembled violently as debris fell like rain amidst deep roars that seemed to echo from hell itself. However, the Strange Snake's body was simply too large; no matter how hard they fought, Li Hong could sense that its massive form coiled in the abyss remained largely unmoved, with only its head deploying various "weapons" such as its tongue, poisonous stingers, and curled horns.
Before him lay darkness; distant red lights and sounds of collision seemed to come from a narrow tunnel entrance that grew smaller and dimmer. Yet Li Hong's Divine Consciousness felt that beneath him still lay the boundless body of the Strange Snake. Calculating where its weak point might be became quite troublesome.
Furrowing his brow, Li Hong decided to lower his altitude and get closer to the Strange Snake’s body for a better look.
Just as he thought this, a strong wind surged up from below; something rapidly rose beneath his feet. The airflow shifted dramatically, pushing Li Hong backward uncontrollably—just like when he had initially fallen downwards without control.
The Strange Snake had another secret weapon! Lowering his head to focus, he saw an immense Black Veil rising swiftly, its rear half pressing directly towards him.
The Black Veil was enormous; when its rear half lifted up, it perfectly wedged itself between the monster’s body and the high stone wall with no room to spare. He had no idea what it was! But Li Hong knew that if he didn’t want to be hit by it, he had no choice but to retreat! In an instant, he flashed back over three miles; however, the Black Veil was surprisingly fast and remained closely behind him within three to five feet.
The red light ahead grew brighter, emanating from the enormous eyes of the Strange Snake. With the aid of this eerie red glow, Li Hong could see clearly that the massive Black Veil was bright and hard, reflecting a glossy black sheen that resembled steel.
Just as this thought crossed his mind, the Black Veil quickly folded in, transforming in the blink of an eye into two large bundles, propped between the stone wall and the creature's body, resembling two enormous, harvested haystacks. However, these "haystacks" were black, composed of thick steel-like supports and a membrane as thick as iron sheets stretched between them.
This was not the Black Veil! It was clearly the Strange Snake's enormous, foldable wings!
These two large wings protected the Strange Snake's body; whenever an enemy approached, it would spread its wings. Due to their astonishing size, it required little effort; the airflow generated by simply spreading its wings could sweep a person away or pin them down. If the creature escaped this underground cavern, it would surely be able to fly straight up into the sky with those wings.
Li Hong smiled calmly; he could already sense where the vital point was!
Li Hong shot upward, stopping just inches from the stone wall. Below in the darkness, he could vaguely see a flat, smooth black platform, which was actually not a platform but the broad back of the Strange Snake.
With a swift motion, he grasped the Divine Slaying Monument in his hands. After a brief exchange with the Artifact Spirit, Li Hong formed a sword gesture with one hand and shouted, "Go!"
The Divine Slaying Monument shot down like a meteor, crashing with a thunderous roar onto the back of the Strange Snake between its wings.
Countless flesh and blood erupted into the air with tremendous force, filling the cavern with a mist of blood in an instant.
The Strange Snake let out a deep roar as its massive body trembled violently like a collapsing mountain. The entire cave ceiling rained down large rocks. The ground shook violently, blood and flesh flew everywhere as the Strange Snake thrashed its head in pain. Ling Yi Zi and Earth Soul Avatar, who were entangled in front of the Strange Snake's head, were violently thrown away.
The clone had already prepared for this moment due to its connection with Li Hong's main body, but Ling Yi Zi was unfortunately just a moment too late to receive the warning. The immense force propelled his body away, crashing against the stone wall and creating a human-shaped hole three feet deep in the hard rock.
Ling Yi Zi struggled to pull his legs out of the hole and was about to extract his upper body when he suddenly caught sight of a dark shadow moving before him. A foul stench assaulted his senses as streams of Black Water shot out from the enormous mouth of the Strange Snake like javelins or waterfalls.
The Black Water was not only highly toxic but also possessed severe corrosive properties. The sound of hissing rocks cracking filled the air as foul black gas enveloped the cave. Ling Yi Zi was horrified and desperately activated his Nascent Soul. Just as he forcefully pulled his upper body out from the stone hole, he was met with that nauseating stench; the first wave of Black Water was already upon him. Everywhere he looked was dark; there was no escape!
With no options left, Ling Yi Zi had no choice but to turn around and press himself tightly against the stone wall, hoping to lessen his injuries.
Just as he turned around, he caught a glimpse of Crimson Shadow flashing past him; heat surged from behind. Following that were continuous hissing sounds that persisted for quite some time before finally subsiding.
It was Li Hong shielding him from the Strange Snake's venom. Ling Yi Zi dared not move until finally, after expelling all its venom with a mournful cry, the Strange Snake slumped down toward the bottom of the abyss before he turned back to look.
Li Hong was enveloped in a blazing True Fire that reached three feet high, floating effortlessly in the air, appearing completely unharmed.
Seeing Ling Yi Zi turn around, Li Hong smiled and silently turned to leave.
Ling Yi Zi shouted, "Where are you going?!"
Li Hong did not respond, merely waved his hand behind him at Ling Yi Zi before vanishing into the darkness.
Ling Yi Zi floated in front of the stone wall, stunned, with a voice in his heart shouting, what is a brother? This is what a brother is! In a life-and-death moment, he rushed over without hesitation to shield me from death!
Staring into the darkness where Li Hong's figure had disappeared, Ling Yi Zi's eyes slowly began to moisten.
"Be careful!"
A Crimson Shadow shot up like a meteor from the depths of the darkness, while a golden light dove down from above. Li Hong's face rapidly enlarged in front of Ling Yi Zi as he reached out to grab him.
Ling Yi Zi realized he could not evade Li Hong's grasp.
Li Hong soared upward with Ling Yi Zi, exclaiming, "I know where the entrance to the temple is! It's right under the butt of this stubborn fellow!"
