In the swirling black mist, a massive outline gradually emerged, revealing the Soul Devourer.
After expelling a large number of Demon Infants and Demon Embryos, the Soul Devourer shrank significantly, now resembling an enormous, irregularly shaped black mass, slumped at the bottom of the abyss. Its gelatinous body rose and fell slowly, reminiscent of breathing.
The Strange Yin Energy intensified, so potent that it could isolate Divine Consciousness. Now, one could only observe with their eyes; probing with Divine Consciousness yielded no results. Waves of strong Yin Energy were being absorbed by the Soul Devourer, causing its surface color to lighten and tiny ice particles to appear on its tough black skin. It turned out that it was cultivating using this Yin Energy.
Thus, it must be an Ancient Spirit Beast, unique in its kind. Except for Little Fei, no one knew what it truly was.
Currently, the Soul Devourer lay comfortably on the abyss floor, seemingly oblivious to the presence of someone flying down nearby to observe it. It inhaled the chilling Strange energy of Extreme Yin, remaining motionless as if asleep.
"Look," Du Yizi transmitted, raising a hand to point at the abyss floor.
The bottom of the abyss was flat, with piles of black Obsidian and grayish-white ice scattered across the deep black ground. Upon closer inspection, numerous pores on the surface emitted wisps of black smoke. The smoke swirled around the black Obsidian, clearly extremely cold with Extreme Yin energy; the surrounding ice blocks were proof of this. However, it was strange that no ice adhered to the Obsidian, which appeared very dark, almost like ink. As the smoke glided over the Obsidian, it became even more ethereal and thin before slowly drifting upwards.
The entire abyss was filled with rising black mist.
Upon careful observation, Li Hong was startled; this was not smoke but rather a highly concentrated form of Yin Energy.
Li Hong landed on the ground and waved a hand, causing a piece of black Obsidian to fly into his palm.
Indeed, this black Obsidian was formed from the extremely dense Yin Energy present here, just like Supreme Celestial Stone.
Li Hong's mind stirred; he decided to collect large amounts of Obsidian into his Cosmic Bag.
Du Yizi's eyes lit up upon hearing this and also took out his Cosmic Bag to do the same, gathering a significant amount of Obsidian.
For now, they would set it aside; it would surely come in handy in the future.
As large quantities of Obsidian disappeared, the Soul Devourer sensed something amiss. Its gelatinous body trembled slightly as a large mass silently rose above its body; a long object protruded from its surface, resembling a head. This head suddenly turned towards Li Hong.
Li Hong was still collecting Obsidian when he inadvertently lifted his head and saw two enormous "eyes" with a diameter of about ten feet.
The Soul Devourer could actually transform.
The two gigantic "eyes" rolled around, "seeing" Li Hong's movements, and the Obsidian flew toward Li Hong's sleeve at a flowing price. The Soul Devourer trembled with extreme anger, and a massive hole, ten feet in diameter, suddenly appeared in the center of its body.
Around it, Extreme Yin energy rapidly swirled into the hole, creating a strong wind throughout the abyss. The bone-chilling Extreme Yin energy stirred the air, forming a huge vortex centered on the hole. Long, dark strands of Extreme Yin energy visibly stretched and rushed into the hole.
Li Hong and Du Yizi quickly turned around and flew in the opposite direction to avoid being pulled into the Soul Devourer's body.
Suddenly, that immense suction force vanished abruptly. Li Hong and Du Yizi were propelled out uncontrollably, nearly crashing into the stone wall.
A strong and sinister aura loomed behind them.
As they turned around, they saw that the hole in the center of the Soul Devourer's massive body suddenly shrank. A chilling wave surged as a large mass of Black Light shot out unexpectedly.
Li Hong and Du Yizi were greatly alarmed. They swiftly dodged as the enormous Extreme Yin energy ball grazed their bodies and crashed into the stone wall behind them.
The impact shook the mountains, causing large chunks of Black Stone to crack and debris to rain down like hail.
Missing its target, the Soul Devourer's entire body contracted again, preparing for another attack when suddenly a golden light flew over, blocking directly in front of the hole in its body.
Little Fei had just fought fiercely with the Soul Devourer and appeared much dimmer. At this moment, it began to shine again. In the next instant, two points of golden light shot out like lightning, piercing directly into the newly formed "eyes" of the Soul Devourer.
The golden light entered the pupils of the "big eyes," initially causing no reaction. Then a deep rumble echoed from within the Soul Devourer's body. Its thick skin trembled violently as a large gash opened in its upper body, expelling large amounts of black Extreme Yin matter mixed with golden light straight into the sky. It was as if a giant mouth had appeared out of nowhere, forcefully spitting out the golden light.
The Soul Devourer immediately wilted, its body shaking violently like a mass of soft jelly quivering incessantly. It was far from giving up; while rapidly absorbing the Extreme Yin energy spewing from Underground, it continuously lowered its height and extended outward, drawing in heaps of Obsidian that vanished into its body. The Soul Devourer began to slowly expand once more.
It seems that as long as they are at the bottom of this abyss, it is indestructible.
Li Hong and Du Yizi exchanged a glance, understanding each other without words, and immediately began to compete with the Soul Devourer for the black Obsidian.
The Cosmic Bag was almost tailor-made for Li Hong. With a thought, Li Hong's fingers moved rapidly, one hand swiftly forming seals while the other executed a series of large sleeve movements, sending piles of black Obsidian flying into the Cosmic Bag.
Currently, aside from the Supreme Celestial Stone, the Cosmic Bag had plenty of space; it could hold as much Obsidian as they could gather. Du Yizi's Cosmic Bag also had a considerable capacity and was not slow.
Soon, the Soul Devourer realized that all the Obsidian around it had been taken by the two. Its extension speed could not keep up with Li Hong and Du Yizi's pace of collecting Obsidian. The Soul Devourer let out a furious roar from within its body.
It stopped extending at the edges and began to rise slightly again.
Li Hong shouted, "Little Fei, get ready!"
"Little Fei understands!" The golden light shone brightly once more.
Just as the holes in the Soul Devourer's body opened up and before it could retract and unleash its Extreme Yin energy, the golden light emitted by Little Fei accurately struck inside through the holes. This was more effective than attacking the surface of the Soul Devourer.
The golden light penetrated into the interior of the Soul Devourer's body, causing it to emit another deep roar. Its body shook violently, and a large hole appeared on its surface again, with a massive amount of black Extreme Yin energy surging out along with the golden light. It was as if black and gold flames were rising from the Soul Devourer.
The golden light emitted by Little Fei was precisely the nemesis of the Soul Devourer. The Soul Devourer could not counteract the energy contained in this golden light and could only spew it out repeatedly. Along with that, it also expelled the Extreme Yin energy that it had painstakingly accumulated within its body. Each time it was hit by golden light, its body shrank a little more.
Li Hong felt invigorated: "Well done! Little Fei, hit it a few more times, and we’ll surely defeat it!"
As soon as he finished speaking, two voices echoed in his mind simultaneously—one was Little Fei and the other was Heavenly Torch.
Little Fei exclaimed, "Master, I'm so tired!"
"Heavenly Torch" shouted, "Junior Brother! You need to take care of Little Fei!"
Li Hong then noticed that the golden light surrounding Little Fei had dimmed significantly, and her large blue eyes were clearly showing signs of fatigue. Feeling embarrassed, Li Hong quickly transmitted, "I'm sorry, Little Fei. I didn't pay attention. From now on, you rest while I take over!" Yue Que burst forth, a beam of golden light striking the Soul Devourer, while shouting, "Brother, let's go!"
Du Yizi patted his chest and opened his mouth wide, releasing a mass of black clouds that shot towards the Soul Devourer like a gale.
Yue Que and the black clouds all plunged into the Soul Devourer. After being struck by Little Fei, the outer layer of the Soul Devourer had already thinned considerably.
Li Hong floated in mid-air, his Divine Consciousness attached to Yue Que, as if he were entering the Soul Devourer. As Yue Que advanced, he passed through a large amount of heavy, trembling translucent black substance resembling gelatin.
"Big!"
Yue Que suddenly expanded to six feet long; this was already Li Hong's limit.
A crescent-shaped beam of golden light swirled rapidly within the Soul Devourer, lifting up a dazzling golden wheel that swiftly pierced through the Soul Devourer's body. When it lightly touched the opposite stone wall, stones crumbled down like rain. Taking advantage of this moment, Yue Que turned back and silently merged into the outer layer of the Soul Devourer before swiftly emerging from the other side.
Meanwhile, Du Yizi's mass of black clouds was not actually clouds but his prized magical artifact, the Aurora Needle. A dense cluster of fine long needles continuously interspersed within the Soul Devourer.
With both attacks converging, the interior of the Soul Devourer had almost become a sieve and a funnel. It groaned in pain as its body twisted into various strange shapes, desperately trying to expel Yue Que and the Aurora Needle from its body.
Li Hong would not give it this opportunity; Yue Que became even faster, twisting from left to right and from front to back.
Regardless of whether the gelatinous tissue inside the Soul Devourer was flesh or an energy body, it could not withstand such violent twisting from one Celestial Artifact and one Superior Spirit Artifact.
Just as they were in high spirits with their assault, Li Hong suddenly froze slightly. Deep within the body of the Soul Devourer lay something very strange that should not exist inside it.
Just as he intended to direct Yue Que closer to that object for a clearer look, the Soul Devourer suddenly erupted.
The body opened up with countless holes of various sizes, and a large amount of Extreme Yin energy mixed with Strange Creatures spewed outwards. For a moment, it resembled a deflated pig's bladder, with black gas, Extreme Yin energy, and numerous Strange Creatures erupting from all sides.
The powerful energy shot through the air like javelins, accompanied by Strange Creatures whizzing past Li Hong's ears. He narrowly dodged several times and quickly summoned Yue Que to shield himself and Du Yizi.
The sound of splattering and clattering continued, even mixed with the ringing of metallic collisions. After a long while, it finally calmed down.
Yue Que ignited flames on her own, burning away the filth that clung to her.
Li Hong and Du Yizi were stunned.
This Soul Devourer seemed to harbor a multitude of things within.
Previously, it had spewed out a large number of Demon Embryos and even Yun Jiuzi. But now, looking around, the entire bottom of the abyss was covered with various indescribable objects. The sea of Demon Embryos was nothing compared to the quantity of what had just been expelled.
Everywhere was a sticky, translucent black gelatinous substance covering the seemingly endless abyss floor. Under the influence of the Extreme Yin energy seeping from the ground, it slowly began to solidify and freeze into a thick layer of black ice several dozen feet deep.
Embedded within the ice were various items: weapons, magical treasures, and countless unknown objects. However, the most numerous were corpses—so many that one could hardly count them. These corpses had undergone some transformation, wrapped in a sticky membrane similar to that which enveloped Yun Jiuzi. Their shapes varied from short to long. The outer membranes transitioned in color from translucent to extremely tough grayish-white. The shorter membranes were whiter and tougher, while those that clearly resembled corpses retained their translucent, gelatinous appearance, allowing glimpses of the general shape of the corpses inside.
Li Hong's mind stirred as he cut open several membranes to take a look, confirming his suspicions. He exchanged a glance with Du Yizi; both were filled with horror, extreme sorrow, and anger.
