The hall behind the stone door resembled a resting area, vast in size, filled with strange dark red candle flames flickering in various silver basins. Around each basin sat three to five people, their faces illuminated in a hauntingly dim light, which appeared eerie even when bright, as the candle flames were an unusual shade of dark red.
Inside, the Demons were immersed in a peculiar state of tranquility, each face seemingly bearing an indescribable satisfaction.
With a thunderous roar, the interior instantly transformed into a blood river, a Corpse Mountain. The highest among them was merely at the late stage of Transmutation, hardly a match for the two Heavenly Fusion Stage masters. It was a one-sided massacre.
In an instant, blood flowed like a river. Yun Jiuzi rushed in without hesitation to join the slaughter, simultaneously unleashing three Corpse Collection Bottles to continuously collect the Demons' Golden Pills. He had no choice; otherwise, these Golden Pills would be sent to the old monsters as nourishment.
As Yun Jiuzi killed and collected, the whirlwind of yellow shadows created a lightning-like flash of golden light, his movements as swift as thunder. Soon he noticed a very strange phenomenon. Despite knowing they were no match for the powerful enemies invading their territory, the thousands of Demons in the hall did not flee; instead, they screamed and frantically hid within the hall, refusing to escape.
Yun Jiuzi found it increasingly odd. Looking around at the few dozen remaining Demons in the center of the hall, he shouted, "Stop! Leave some alive!"
The surviving Demons were forced into the center of the hall, their faces pale and trembling as they were drenched in blood.
Yun Jiuzi glanced toward the bottom of the hall where there was an open passageway about three feet wide with no door blocking it. Yet all the Demons preferred to die rather than escape through that opening.
His heart sank with an ominous premonition.
Danxiazi and Jiang Taozi also took notice; they exchanged glances, confusion clearly written on their faces.
Danxiazi's expression darkened as he slowly approached the group of huddled Demons in the center. A tremendous pressure emanated from him, causing the flickering red candle flames throughout the hall to dim gradually. His shadow stretched long behind him as the Demons turned pale with fear and trembled uncontrollably, their knees buckling under this invisible pressure.
Yun Jiuzi observed that passageway closely; his Divine Consciousness reached out but seemed to encounter some Restrictions at that entrance. His consciousness was repelled back without perceiving anything.
Only one person dared to probe further. He stepped closer to the passageway; with each step, he felt an increasingly chilling aura emanating from within—an overwhelming tide of resentment, despair, and pain… an indescribable mass of negative emotions surged forth from there, making his steps heavier.
At that moment, an intense warning surged within him. Yun Jiuzi did not have time to look back and shot forward like lightning.
His instincts screamed at him to run! To reach that passageway!
A loud explosion echoed, and a tremendous force pushed from behind. Yun Jiuzi had just reached the entrance of the passage and quickly dodged to the side. The force brushed against his arm as it surged out, rebounding onto him with a manageable impact, but it still left him dizzy and gasping for breath, taking a moment to regain his senses.
He was alarmed—Danxiazi and Jiang Taozi!
He rushed into the hall and was instantly stunned. The Cave Full of Crystals was filled with smoke and debris, and Danxiazi and Jiang Taozi lay on the ground like blood gourds, their clothes in tatters, faces charred, and they were spitting blood in large quantities.
That group of Demons had all self-destructed their Golden Pills!
He dashed over, lifting one of each of them in his arms, his mind racing as he decided to retreat first. Just then, another loud explosion sounded, and Yun Jiuzi cried out in distress; the noise came from the large door they had entered through.
Amidst the swirling dust in the Cave Full of Crystals, Yun Jiuzi hurriedly carried the two towards the entrance, nearly colliding with it.
A hard wall of Dark Iron Steel, thick beyond measure, fell from above and perfectly sealed the entrance.
Feeling the thickness of the steel door, Yun Jiuzi realized that there was no way out from here.
Yun Jiuzi suddenly turned around to look at the three-foot-wide passage. Strangely enough, despite the commotion here, there should have been Demons coming to investigate or provide reinforcements. However, aside from the fallen Dark Iron Steel door, the passage remained eerily quiet. All that could be felt were negative emotions; not a single shadow of a ghost appeared.
Could it be that Xuan Xuzi and the others were engaged in fierce combat outside, drawing all the Demons to support them?
He set Danxiazi and Jiang Taozi down and took out Supplementary Spirit Pills from his pocket, feeding them into their mouths one bottle at a time. Finally, they stopped spitting blood and began to meditate right there to heal their injuries.
Yun Jiuzi stood guard beside them, his eyes vigilantly fixed on the entrance of the passage.
Fortunately, Danxiazi and Jiang Taozi had exceptionally high cultivation levels. Even though this group of Demons self-destructed their Golden Pills rather than being Nascent Souls, they managed to endure it. After half an hour of adjusting their breathing, they had stabilized considerably.
This place was too dangerous to linger in. Without further ado, the three quickly set off through the passageway towards the outside.
The passage was long and sloped downward continuously into the Underground. There were no decorations on either side; it was just a bare stone path with water seeping everywhere and no light at all. If one tried to see with their eyes, nothing would be visible.
The three of them felt increasingly anxious as they walked, the negative emotions becoming clearer and stronger, so much so that even their Heavenly Fusion Stage minds began to tremble.
Suddenly, they reached the end of the passage and found themselves in a dire situation.
The exit of this passage was a small hole located on a sheer cliff, suspended in mid-air. Before them lay a vast, dark underground space, boundless and pitch black; nothing could be seen, not even their Divine Consciousness could reach far. They could only sense that it was enormous, seemingly infinite.
However, the space was not empty. Far below, there were numerous strange sounds, as if countless people were shouting, crying, and writhing in pain. Yet the three of them strangely felt no trace of living beings; in such darkness and depth, it was impossible for mortals to survive.
Before them rolled a strange, deep gray mist that was damp and pungent, resembling thick dark clouds infused with a heavy blood stench. The smell was so foul that they had to hold their breath; even a whiff would make one feel as if they had entered a blood pool hell.
What kind of place is this?
Danxiazi whispered, "Should we create some light to see?"
"No!" Yun Jiuzi immediately rejected the idea. "I'm afraid it will attract real monsters."
"What do you mean by that? Do you think there are old monsters down there?" Danxiazi asked, his high cultivation level unable to mask his panic. After all, he was injured. With strong enemies surrounding them, being wounded made him feel vulnerable.
"I don't know, but I do know we can't enter lightly here. The fact that those demons wouldn't dare come here even if it meant self-detonation proves that there is definitely something terrifying here—something so frightening that they'd rather self-destruct than approach. Also, I suspect this mist is highly toxic," Yun Jiuzi said with a frown.
"What should we do then? Are we just stuck here?" Danxiazi exclaimed anxiously.
Jiang Taozi pondered for a moment and said, "I have a treasure similar to our Kunlun Feathered Chariot. Once inside, it will be separated from the outside world; even if the mist is toxic, we won't be affected at all. This treasure can carry us all across. I believe there must be another exit on the other side leading to the Main Hall; we just need to safely fly over this underground chasm."
After a moment of contemplation, Danxiazi and Yun Jiuzi agreed.
Jiang Taozi nodded and performed a hand gesture. A beam of white light shot out from his Baihui point, revealing a stationary platinum-colored small boat within the light. Upon closer inspection, the boat indeed resembled the eight Celestial Artifacts of the Immortal Sect's Kunlun Feathered Chariot, with two slender white feathered wings extending from either side of its hull. With a thought, Jiang Taozi commanded the boat to grow larger until it expanded to about ten feet long; the two white feathered wings also grew to match its size.
The small side door of the boat popped open with a whoosh. Jiang Taozi first crouched and slipped inside, followed quickly by Yun Jiuzi and Danxiazi.
The door closed automatically behind them. The interior space was cramped but barely accommodated all three of them. The walls were solid, preventing any view of the outside.
Jiang Taozi sat cross-legged in a depression at the center of the cabin, closing his eyes to begin maneuvering the small boat. Yun Jiuzi could feel the hull of the boat vibrating with a low hum, and then it smoothly turned around, heading toward the opposite side under Jiang Taozi's control.
Although Yun Jiuzi couldn't see outside, his Divine Consciousness allowed him to sense the situation beyond. Outside, there was a thick, gray mist that felt almost tangible. As the boat entered the dense fog, it seemed to get stuck, moving forward very slowly, almost inch by inch. Looking at Jiang Taozi, who was seated in a designated spot to operate the boat, it was clear that he was struggling; his body trembled, and beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.
His injuries had not yet healed; he had only suppressed them earlier because he couldn't stay there for long. Now, with immense spiritual energy consumption, the aftereffects were becoming apparent.
Yun Jiuzi thought for a moment and took out two bottles of Supplementary Spirit Pill from his Cosmic Bag, placing them in front of him. Jiang Taozi opened his eyes gratefully and glanced at Yun Jiuzi before pouring one pill into his mouth and continuing to provide spiritual energy for the boat.
Time passed slowly, and the three of them grew increasingly anxious and felt that something was off. The speed of their magical artifact could not be this slow; the mist was Strange and had an overwhelming stickiness. Fortunately, the hull was sealed; if they had chosen to escape directly at that moment, they would likely have fallen into the Strange dark abyss below.
Even so, the situation remained grim. Jiang Taozi's consumption of Supplementary Spirit Pills increased rapidly; by the end, he was pouring a pill into his mouth almost every few moments. One bottle quickly emptied, and not long after, he began to deplete the second bottle as well.
The amount of spiritual energy Jiang Taozi was using up was astonishingly large and fast; this mist was definitely suspicious.
Yun Jiuzi extended his Divine Consciousness outward and discovered that what had originally been a platinum-colored hull was now black. Upon closer inspection, he immediately felt dismayed; it turned out that the thick mist was adhering to the hull. Now a layer of sticky gray-black substance clung to the outside of the boat, continuously thickening like a layer of callus that dripped down in a disgusting manner.
They had now reached the center of the gray mist, where it was even denser and felt incredibly heavy as if it were solid. Heaven knows if it would pull their boat down!
Yun Jiuzi made a quick decision and shouted, "We need to turn back!"
"No," Jiang Taozi replied with difficulty as he opened his eyes. "We've already covered two-thirds of the distance; turning back would mean all our efforts are wasted."
Yun Jiuzi was speechless and felt an intense anxiety in his heart, hoping that what he said was true—that there really was an opening in the cliff ahead.
At that moment, the small boat suddenly shook violently. Yun Jiuzi shouted, "Not good! Jiang Taozi, hold steady!" Without hesitation, he took out two more bottles of Supplementary Spirit Pill and tossed them over.
Jiang Taozi quickly poured one into his mouth and pressed both palms against the cabin floor. Visible streams of white light rapidly flowed from Jiang Taozi's body toward the small boat.
The shaking of the boat began to lessen. Yun Jiuzi and Danxiazi both sighed in relief at the same time.
At that moment, the expressions of the three changed dramatically as they suddenly looked up.
Time seemed to freeze, and any action was too late.
With a loud rumble, their bodies shook violently. Yun Jiuzi and Danxiazi were still somewhat okay, but Jiang Taozi suddenly spat out a fountain of blood and collapsed onto the cabin floor, drenched in blood.
His skin rapidly developed terrifying wrinkles, his hair quickly turned from black to white, age spots spread across his body, and his flesh withered away, leaving his hands resembling chicken claws.
In the blink of an eye, Jiang Taozi transformed from a middle-aged man into an elderly figure with white hair, like a candle flickering in the wind. Yun Jiuzi was alarmed; Jiang Taozi was about to disperse his energy!
Without thinking further, he rushed over and pressed both palms against Jiang Taozi's chest, quickly channeling his spiritual energy into Jiang Taozi's Dantian.
Jiang Taozi trembled all over, barely opening his eyes. He managed to say weakly, "So powerful..." before he breathed his last. A phantom emerged from the crown of his head, which was Jiang Taozi's Nascent Soul.
The Nascent Soul barely lingered in the air for a moment before dissipating. All that remained on the ground was Jiang Taozi's lifeless body with white hair.
Yun Jiuzi was so shocked that he didn't know what to do. Instinctively, he pressed his palms against the concave area of the cabin floor but found it futile!
With a muffled sound, Yun Jiuzi felt himself being ejected from the cabin, his body uncontrollably plummeting like a lead weight into the dark abyss below.
Endless thick fog immediately enveloped Yun Jiuzi's figure.
The platinum-colored small boat returned to its original state, flickered, and vanished.
The gray mist returned to normal as if Yun Jiuzi and the other two had never been there at all.
********
By dawn, Fengdu had become a barren hill. The grass, trees, and buildings above—all had disappeared. Ashes were still smoking, leaving only charred black stones on the desolate hill.
In the sky, Xuan Xuzi and Yiyang stared anxiously below, their hearts filled with tension.
After a night of relentless bombardment, they had eliminated all the low-level Demons who had originally resided on Fengdu Mountain, yet not a single Dark Hall Demon had emerged. Moreover, even after digging three zhang deep, there was not a trace of an entrance leading to the Underground Dark Hall. All signs indicated that even if this place was a Dark Hall of the Demon Sect, it was surely just the outermost fringe of it.
The Dark Hall was not located in Fengdu Underground; the intelligence was incorrect.
Yiyang murmured, "This is impossible. We sacrificed so many disciples to uncover this; there must be no mistake... What on earth is going on?"
Xuan Xuzi felt a sharp pain in his heart. It seemed that their sect's Great Ancestor Jiang Taozi was in grave danger, and the elders of Nine Li Sect Hidden Nine Sons and Emei Danxiazi were likely in the same predicament. Three Heavenly Fusion Stage masters!
He silently blamed himself while feeling somewhat lost. What scheme was the Demon Sect playing? Had he fallen into their trap? Who should he blame—himself or Yiyang?
Unable to stand any longer, he whispered fiercely, "Everyone follow me to explore the entrance of that Dark Hall!"
When they flew over, everyone was dumbfounded; the mountain peak had vanished.
The legendary entrance to Shinra Palace had disappeared beneath a flat-topped mountain. A massive landslide had occurred here, flattening everything.
