The dimly lit Underground Cave was filled with flickering points of Five-Color Radiance, resembling fireflies. These small grains of Supreme Celestial Stone emitted a faint Iridescence in the darkness. The light was not bright, akin to the hazy stars beside the bright moon in the night sky, creating an overall dim and beautiful atmosphere in the Underground Cave.
In the center of the cave sat a shadowy figure, barely discernible except for its outline. This person seemed to have been sitting there for a long time, their body completely still, as if fused with the Black Stone beneath them.
A faint golden light burst forth from this person's forehead, gradually growing brighter, casting a beam straight down like a sharp sword. Soon after, their entire body erupted with golden light. The bright golden glow illuminated the dim Underground Cave. They floated from the ground into mid-air, slowly rotating. Their Long Hair flowed freely behind them without any wind.
After a long while, they descended back to their original spot. Not long after, their body once again erupted with bright golden light and floated up again. This happened ten times.
After the tenth time, there was no further movement.
However, gradually, their body began to tremble. It felt as if countless small mice were scurrying beneath their skin, rising and falling erratically; their entire body seemed to melt away, with skin and flesh shaking strangely and continuously.
A terrifyingly powerful force coursed through their body. Drops of golden-like strange liquid seeped from their surface, releasing a thick and peculiar metallic scent that filled the entire Underground Cave with an intense Spiritual Energy that was almost palpable.
Within the Upper Dantian Purple Palace space, a vast amount of Awareness had filled the entire Purple Palace Space, swirling around the Fake Dan at its center. The color had transformed into a rich golden yellow and was slowly separating into ten distinct Fake Dans.
The arrangement of the Fake Dans was quite Strange.
The three at the center rotated the fastest, tightly clustered together; while the seven surrounding them revolved around these three in rapid motion. The ten Fake Dans seemed like a single entity but also existed independently, appearing to be divided into two parts.
Li Hong felt neither joy nor sorrow; his mind was entirely immersed in these ten Fake Dans. He felt as if he had been split into ten parts yet was also one whole. This sensation of being both divided and unified was extraordinarily strange yet felt entirely natural.
A profound state of being enveloped him that was beyond words.
After consuming the Cosmic Vitality Pill and Jade Liquid, he suddenly entered a state of ethereal awareness devoid of thoughts. Just moments ago, he abruptly awakened to find his entire consciousness autonomously immersed in the ten Fake Dans. His body began to transform, becoming almost equivalent to a spiritual entity; all his internal organs, bones, muscles, and skin were being reshaped by spiritual energy.
At this moment, he was merely one step away from forming a true Golden Dan.
A mysterious sensation washed over him again; Li Hong's mind sharpened as the Heart Demon Barrier finally approached—just this last step remained!
Suddenly, before his tightly closed eyelids appeared a crimson Sea of Blood.
The sky was a blood-red hue, and a chilling aura of killing intent rose from the Sea of Blood. Li Hong felt an uncontrollable urge to kill, consumed by thoughts of murder.
"Ah..." He threw his head back and roared, shaking the entire Underground Cave. Fragments of stone fell like rain, striking Li Hong and igniting sparks.
With a swish, the Fire Rat Robe shot off his body, transforming into fluttering ashes in the tangible killing intent.
His body trembled violently, filled with rage and murderous intent. Li Hong suddenly opened his eyes, which glowed blood-red, casting a deep crimson hue throughout the Underground Cave, resembling the hellish Sea of Blood.
He slowly stood up and mechanically walked toward the cave entrance, tears of blood streaming down his cheeks, dripping onto his bare feet as he moved forward.
Only one thought occupied his mind... kill! Annihilate everything! Destroy heaven and earth!
The Heavenly Torch within the Upper Dantian's Fire Separation Pearl had long awakened. It was stunned by the scene before it and dared not move or communicate with Li Hong's Divine Consciousness. It could only silently plead in its heart, "Li Hong, you must hold on! Why is the first trial a killing calamity against the Heart Demon? Damn it!"

Mount Luliang.
The summer heat was oppressive, almost suffocating. In the gorge, a small stream flowed over sun-baked gray-white pebbles. The water had diminished significantly, becoming shallow as it trickled through the rocky terrain.
A flash of Crimson Shadow appeared in the sky as Spirit Stone rode on the Gale Fire Sword, suddenly appearing above the stream. It circled cautiously around before pulling out an item with one hand. With a flick against the wind, a small yellow paper bird emerged, flapping its wings and swiftly flying away.
It was a unique communication talisman from the Nine Li Sect.
Before long, Ling Xiangzi arrived with about twenty people above the stream. Everyone looked exhausted and their faces were scorched black.
Ling Xiangzi licked her dry, cracked lips and said with relief, "Finally found some water. With battles everywhere and no mercy from heaven during this drought... this world... sigh..." She bitterly smiled and shook her head, feeling she had spoken too much. She floated down like a White Reed into the water and turned to scoop up clear water to her lips.
Having patrolled for three months and encountered countless Demon Sect Monsters, they had been conserving Elixirs like Fire Origin Pills as much as possible. In such hot weather, going without food was bearable, but not having Clear Water to drink was unbearable.
Seeing Ling Xiangzi drinking water already, those in the Patrol Team behind her could no longer hold back; they jumped into the stream and began gulping down Clear Water eagerly.
Spirit Stone had not drunk any water; he floated above the creek, vigilantly scanning his surroundings.
Everything seemed normal. On both sides of the creek were vast expanses of lush green forest. In the sweltering summer afternoon, small animals had found shady spots to rest, and the forest was eerily silent.
It seemed too quiet. Spirit Stone raised an eyebrow. Just as he was about to call everyone up, Ling Xiangzi let out a muffled groan and stood still in the creek.
Spirit Stone was alarmed and was about to fly over when a warning surged in his heart. Looking up, he saw a large mass of foul-smelling shadows pouncing from about ten yards away. Reacting swiftly, he planted his toes and shot out the Gale Fire Sword.
With a whoosh, Purple Blood splattered everywhere. The first dozen Walking Corpses that charged forward were reduced to fragments by the Gale Fire Sword.
In an instant, the creek turned black. Many hidden small fish and shrimp floated to the surface, creating a starry display of white spots in the water. These poisoned fish and shrimp quickly transformed into streaks of foul-smelling Black Water at a terrifying speed. A strong stench spread throughout.
The creek had instantly become toxic water.
Spirit Stone shouted urgently, "Everyone get up here now!" His subordinates rushed into the crowd of Walking Corpses, their bodies and swords merging into a swirling ten-yard Hokage, cutting through everything in their path. At the same time, he took out several Separation Fire Talismans from his Cosmic Bag, igniting them one after another with spiritual energy. A swarm of Fire Phoenixes materialized, roaring as they charged into the crowd of Walking Corpses.
Flames engulfed the sky. The surrounding forest immediately caught fire, with bright red flames shooting into the heavens. Black smoke mixed with the stench of the Walking Corpses, while blood rained down and rotting flesh flew everywhere. This creek had turned into a Hell on Earth in an instant.
Ling Xiangzi forced herself to stay calm, trembling as she pulled out a bottle of Antidote Pill from her Cosmic Bag, pouring it all into her mouth without even looking. The heart method from the Li Fire Scripture rapidly circulated within her, causing a stream of Purple Blood to flow down her chin. Her complexion had already turned a terrifying shade of purple-black. Gritting her teeth, she summoned her White Reed and jumped up, looking down with despair. Most of the Patrol Members were sprawled in the foul black water, some still twitching involuntarily... These were all disciples at the lower levels of various sects in the Refining Heart Stage. Their bodies had begun to rot; there was no saving them now.
She forced herself to turn away. There were still a few people nearby—elders with cultivation levels above Golden Core Stage. Their faces were also purple-black, their limbs trembling uncontrollably. One could not help but cough violently, spewing out large amounts of Purple Blood, nearly falling off his Flying Sword.
Ling Xiangzi realized it was too late: "We've fallen into an ambush! Retreat quickly!"
Several elders nodded in panic and began to retreat. However, Ling Xiangzi, steeling herself, charged into the crowd of Walking Corpses towards Spirit Stone, shouting, "Brother, I'm here to help you! We'll fight while we retreat!"
With one hand almost overwhelmed, upon hearing Ling Xiangzi's voice, he was overjoyed, thinking she was unharmed. But when he turned to look, he was horrified; her face was purple-black, and deathly energy radiated from her forehead. He shouted, "You need to leave! I'll hold them off!"
Without saying a word, Ling Xiangzi resolutely decided to fight alongside Spirit Stone. The densely packed crowd of Walking Corpses surged forward relentlessly, surrounding them in the center.
The few fleeing elders turned back and were immediately filled with despair; there were thousands of Walking Corpses, darkening the entire creek like a massive cloud of foulness. A red light and a white light darted left and right but could not clear them out. The two figures were nearly buried within the crowd of Walking Corpses, almost invisible now.
They steeled themselves, saying, "No! We will go to rescue them; we must retreat together!"
"Do you think you can still escape?" a sinister voice suddenly echoed nearby. Before the elder could see the enemy's face, he felt a sudden chill in his abdomen.
Looking down, his last thought was... I've been hit...
With a whoosh, he transformed into a rain of blood. A streak of golden light shot out from the blood rain, but it was too late! Dark energy chased after the golden light, transforming into a massive hand that grasped the golden light tightly.
The golden light revealed itself to be a spinning golden elixir. This elixir contained all the essence of the elder's cultivation and soul.
In mid-air, a mass of black mist took shape, soon becoming clear as a figure shrouded in a black cloak, obscuring its features. It chuckled and said, "What a great supplement!" Raising its hand, it tossed the elixir into its mouth and swallowed it nonchalantly. Then it smacked its lips and remarked, "Not bad, not bad; really nourishing!"
The remaining three elders' eyes widened in fury as they lunged forward, shouting, "Demon, we'll fight you!"
"Tsk tsk, three left; just enough for each of us!" Three shadows suddenly appeared above them, each heading towards an elder. In just one move, the poisoned elder was no match for them and was instantly reduced to a rain of blood and powder.
Three more golden elixirs were divided among the three demons.
The four shadows gathered together, cackling as they looked towards the group of walking corpses. One of them said, "I recognize these two; they are two Elder Brothers from the Nine Li Sect. The Ancestor instructed us to capture them alive; let’s wait to reap the benefits!"
The four shadows transformed back into black mist and faded away.
Only the heavy stench of blood lingered in the air.
At Nine Separation Peak's Chengxian Pavilion on the Twenty-Eighth Floor, Ling Xuzi suddenly raised his head, his expression cold.
Before him stood an elegant and massive Bronze Lamp with no less than thirty-five branches, each holding a faintly golden Golden Lamp. A peculiar blood-colored flame flickered within one of the Golden Lamps. Just moments ago, four lamps had suddenly swayed and extinguished.
This meant that another four elders had perished. They were part of the Patrol Team outside. Ling Xuzi abruptly stood up with a pale face and instinctively shouted, "Chu Huai! Send me Zhu Feng Ling!"
Outside, there was no familiar response for a long time before he remembered that Chu Huai was already dead. After that great battle at Heaven and Earth Platform's Western Region Exit, Chu Huai had never returned.
Two lines of tears slid down from the corners of his eyes. This third disciple had been by his side for twenty years, responding to matters and assisting him. Although he had made a mistake, he was still his disciple. He would never return again.
Sigh... Ling Xuzi felt an overwhelming sadness in his heart, but there were more important matters to attend to. He hurriedly walked out the door and into the empty corridor outside, personally pulling the string of Zhu Feng Ling.
The melodious ancient music once again resonated throughout Nine Li Cave Heaven. However, the figures that flew in response to the sound were sparse and scattered, far from the grandeur of the past.
Ling Xuzi stood alone at the top of Chengxian Pavilion, his solitary figure appearing so desolate and helpless.
But then, his gaze suddenly shifted as a familiar yellow light swiftly approached, arriving even faster than those who came before.
Yun Jiuzi! He had also come!
Ling Xuzi shouted, "The Patrol Team is in danger outside, hurry to rescue them!"
Without a word, Yun Jiuzi flew towards the back of the mountain, his figure quickly disappearing into the pavilion behind the mountain.
