Chu Xi lived in a separate room.
Li Hong walked to the entrance of the small courtyard and heard faint voices coming from inside the room.
“Yan Luo sister, after you eat the candy, go find your senior sisters. I'm afraid they will worry.”
“Not at all—” Little Imp Girl seemed to shake her head vigorously, “There are a bunch of stinky men buzzing around them like flies, and every time I feel suffocated. Once, I don't know which bad guy stepped on my foot, and it was swollen for three days! Chu Xi sister, it's quiet here; let me stay a little longer?”
Chu Xi chuckled, “Alright, alright, you sound so pitiful. How could your sister refuse? Would you like some tea?”
“You're so nice to me, sister.” The little girl took a sip of water. “This dress of yours is really beautiful; it looks like a magical treasure?”
“Yes, my master gave it to me.”
“Tsk tsk, after all, it's the Nine Major Sects. Your master is really generous.” Little Imp Girl sighed, “Although my master treats us well, he doesn't have such good things. A beautiful dress and a magical treasure—how wonderful.” Little Imp Girl seemed to be fascinated by Chu Xi's clothes.
Li Hong smiled upon hearing this. It seemed that Little Imp Girl really liked Chu Xi's Silver Moon Robe, but she shouldn't expect Chu Xi to give it to her. After all, there was only one in the entire Nine Li Sect—and it was a mid-grade magical artifact. Thinking about the sly look Little Imp Girl had thrown at Dai Yunzi before leaving, Li Hong decided to keep an eye on her from now on until he confirmed she wasn't up to any mischief.
He stepped heavily towards the door and called out, “Chu Xi, I'm here.”
The three of them chatted and drank tea inside the room. Chu Xi was very happy, while Yan Luo kept yawning and appeared quite bored. However, she refused to go find her senior sisters; it was unclear what was going on in her little head.
The more Li Hong observed Little Imp Girl, the more interesting he found her. He simply called for Chuxiong, pulled in Yan Luo, and they all started playing guessing games with stones in the room. Before long, the few silver coins that Yan Luo had brought were all lost. She pouted and said, “You adults are bullying me!”
Having become familiar with her, Li Hong playfully pinched her little Qiong Nose, saying, “From now on, whoever loses will get their nose pinched! No crying or making excuses!”
Yan Luo, nearly brought to tears by his pinch, jumped up angrily as if she would leave. But when she reached the door, she turned back and shouted loudly, “Fine! Pinch my nose if you want! But you can't make excuses or bully me!” Saying this, she huffed and rubbed her red nose before sitting down again to continue playing.
It seemed that Little Imp Girl had some task at hand but remained quite composed. The more Li Hong observed her antics, the more amused he became and exchanged a knowing glance with Chu Xi.
At first, Chu Xi thought that Yan Luo genuinely liked her; however, she gradually understood the situation. But how could she bear to show any displeasure towards such a lovely little girl? Seeing that Yan Luo's nose was getting redder and redder, she decided to cheat a little to help her out.
The four of them played until noon when they heard voices outside the courtyard; it was Ling Xuzi returning. A group of footsteps headed towards the courtyard where he lived alone.
The Little Imp Girl began to lose focus, and after several consecutive losses, Li Hong once again playfully flicked her Qiong Nose. He wanted to see just how patient she could be. The Little Imp Girl's expression grew increasingly annoyed as she perked up her ears to listen to the commotion outside.
Moments later, a soft and charming female voice called out, "Yan Luo—where are you? Master is looking for you." It was Dai Yunzi.
Yan Luo jumped up with joy and replied loudly, "I'm here! I'm playing a guessing game with the senior brothers and sisters from the Nine Li Sect."
However, Dai Yunzi did not come in.
After a moment of silence, Ling Xuzi's voice could be heard: "Daiyun Palace Master has arrived? Please have a seat over here."
Yan Luo's eyes darted around as she exclaimed, "Master can talk to the Sect Leader Uncle from the Nine Li Sect first; I'm still playing here!" With that, she urged Li Hong to throw the stones quickly.
Dai Yunzi responded gently from the doorway and then walked away towards Ling Xuzi's courtyard. The door to that courtyard closed.
It turned out she was looking for an excuse to meet Ling Xuzi alone! Li Hong found it amusing. If Dai Yunzi truly wanted to see Ling Xuzi, she could have straightforwardly approached him; why use Yan Luo as a pretext? Perhaps she was worried about gossip from Emei next door? It seemed that this Daiyun Master was still quite shy.
The stunning beauty felt bashful, and Li Hong smiled.
Next, it was Li Hong's turn to lose focus—he had been paying attention to the commotion in Ling Xuzi's courtyard. With Chu Xi's help, the Little Imp Girl became more and more courageous in battle. She suggested they play for silver again, not only winning back all her previous losses but also managing to flick Li Hong's nose over ten times.
Though the Little Imp Girl was young, she had great talent and had already reached mid-stage cultivation. Her flicks were not only forceful but also contained hidden strength. Even with Li Hong's Awareness protecting him, he felt his nose sting painfully, and before he knew it, tears streamed down his face.
Yan Luo was immensely pleased. Dressed in a light yellow embroidered dress resembling tender willow branches, she laughed heartily with her hands on her hips, looking both wildly charming and adorably mischievous. Chu Xi was beside her, laughing so hard he could barely stand upright.
Li Hong tossed the stones aside and said sheepishly, "I’ll go get lunch for you." He opened the door and ran out.
As he ran, he thought about how Chu Xi had helped a newly acquainted Little Imp Girl instead of him! He couldn't help but feel both angry and amused at the same time. Laughing while shaking his head, he dashed towards the entrance.
At that moment, the courtyard door of Ling Xuzi creaked open. Dai Yunzi stepped out. She was no longer dressed in the vibrant red outfit from the morning; instead, she wore a simple silver-red shirt paired with a white pleated skirt, looking fresh and unadorned. Her complexion was slightly flushed, exuding a shy charm, and her beauty had softened considerably. At this moment, she appeared fresh and lively, like a neighbor's daughter ready for marriage, radiating a unique allure.
She turned back slightly and said to Ling Xuzi, "Senior Brother, there's no need to see me off. The competition has just begun, and we have plenty of time to catch up. This afternoon, I will have Hui Feng come over. In the Ancient Celestial Field, I will rely on all of you to take care of Hui Feng."
Just as Ling Xuzi was about to respond, he noticed Li Hong and several others standing not far away, looking at them with strange smiles. Even though Ling Xuzi remained composed, his face turned red in an instant. He awkwardly nodded and exchanged a few pleasantries before shutting the courtyard door.
Dai Yunzi, however, was not annoyed; she let out a soft sigh, "Alas—Senior Brother—" her voice filled with unspoken melancholy and tenderness as she gracefully walked away.
The Little Imp Girl saw that her mission was accomplished and flew out from Chu Xi's room to follow her master. Before leaving, she stuck her tongue out at Li Hong, as if to say, "Hmph! You'll see next time!"
Li Hong smiled; his master was clever, and his disciple was equally sharp-witted. It was unclear whether Dai Yunzi truly had feelings for Ling Xuzi or not, but her purpose in meeting him alone this time was to ensure that the disciples from Nine Li Sect would take care of her disciple Hui Feng. It seemed that only one disciple from Qixia Palace was participating in the competition. However, aside from Kunlun, there were seven other sect leaders present; why did she only seek out Ling Xuzi? There was certainly more to this story.
Li Hong chuckled mischievously.
He soon realized that everyone present who witnessed the interaction between Ling Xuzi and Dai Yunzi shared the same expression as him—smirking.

In the afternoon, Chu Huai arrived and mentioned that Heavenly Grain had arranged a tour of their Alchemy Room and asked Li Hong if he wanted to join. Naturally, Li Hong would not miss such a great opportunity.
Eighteen disciples from Nine Li Sect followed a Heavenly Grain Pharmacist toward their Alchemy Room. Not long after they set off, a group of people caught up with them; it turned out to be disciples from Qixia Palace who had heard that the seniors from Nine Li Sect were visiting the Alchemy Room and wanted to join in. It seemed this was indeed arranged by Dai Yunzi.
Chu Huai and several older seniors were thrilled and eagerly agreed. They quickly left their junior brothers behind and proudly led about ten stunning fairies toward the Alchemy Room. The sound of laughter filled the air as passersby stopped to watch; even some curious disciples followed behind commenting on what they saw.
Li Hong and Chu Xi intentionally lagged behind. Besides the three of them at the back was a familiar face—the Little Imp Girl Yan Luo—and beside Yan Luo stood another disciple from Qixia Palace.
This new figure was also a stunning fairy but entirely different from those in front.
She was an Ice Queen with cultivation at Mid Stage of Cautionary Practice. She was tall with translucent white skin; although her features were beautiful, they exuded an icy aloofness that made one feel intimidated. Dressed in immaculate silver satin robes from head to toe in pure snow-white color, she wore no colorful jewelry in her hair except for a single silver orchid hairpin tucked at her temple. She looked as if she were made of snow.
The Ice Queen seemed to melt a little when she looked at Yan Luo, her gaze carrying a hint of warmth, though it was still just a tiny bit.
Yan Luo held a grudge and looked at Li Hong with an unfriendly expression, his eyes fierce. However, he smiled brightly at Chu Xi, calling her sister repeatedly. The Ice Queen remained silent, quietly walking beside them without engaging in conversation with Chu Xi.
Li Hong scratched his head and asked Yan Luo, "What is her name?"
Unexpectedly, the Little Imp Girl gave him a big eye roll, almost turning her entire eyeball inside out. "Hmph! Are you just like those lecherous men?"
Li Hong laughed and scolded, "How can you say such things at your young age!" He playfully slapped Yan Luo on the head. Suddenly, a cold gust of wind halted him as a cold, snow-white hand intervened between Li Hong's hand and Yan Luo's head. The Ice Queen coldly said, "Don't use your hands." With that, she withdrew her hand and refused to say another word.
Yan Luo grinned smugly at Li Hong and pulled Chu Xi away, leaving Li Hong to accompany the taciturn Ice Queen as they walked slowly.
Li Hong exchanged a wry smile with Yan Luo and both instinctively grabbed their heads in frustration.
At that moment, the Ice Queen finally spoke up: "My name is Hui Feng." After saying that, she tightly closed her mouth again.
Li Hong finally understood what it meant to be sparing with words. But Hui Feng? Wasn't she the disciple from Qixia Palace who was going to compete? It seemed he would have some challenges ahead.
They finally arrived at the Alchemy Room. Li Hong sighed in relief and unceremoniously left the Ice Queen, Hui Feng, for Chuxiong while he dove inside.
