A few days into their confinement, a guest arrived at the Small Pavilion. Chu Xi came with a large food box to see them.
She opened the lid and began taking out the contents, chattering away, "You guys are really something! Why bother with that kind of person? The more you take him seriously, the more arrogant he becomes. It's better to keep your distance from such people. I know being confined is tough. Last time, when Master punished me to face the wall for a month, I almost suffocated. I made a lot of snacks just for you, hoping to cheer you up. Try my cooking!"
Li Hong found her rambling amusing, but he also felt a warm touch in his heart. He walked closer to the table to examine the snacks carefully. The table was filled with colorful treats that he couldn't identify even after looking for a while. He randomly opened a bamboo box, revealing translucent green powder cakes that looked elegant in color. After tasting a piece, he found it fragrant and sweet—delicious.
He already had an idea and smiled, "Did you really make these?"
"Of course!" Chu Xi pouted, "What do you mean by that?"
"You little training fanatic, although you have the heart, I'm afraid you lack the skill. These must not be yours," Li Hong teased.
Chu Xi's small face gradually turned a shade of crimson as she mumbled, "You're so clever! Fine, I made these under Sister Chu Yan's guidance. So, can’t they still count as mine?"
Li Hong chuckled inwardly; guidance? More like chaos! He didn't point it out and said with a smile, "It's rare for you to come; stay and play for a while longer."
"Sure!" Chu Xi's eyes lit up, "I actually have some homework I want to ask you about."
The two exchanged glances, and the sweet taste of the snacks began to turn bitter in their mouths. Sure enough, that pretty little mouth opened and closed as she earnestly began asking about training details.
It wasn't until Li Hong felt his mind was completely emptied by her questions that Chu Xi finally satisfied picked up her food box: "I still need to gather Forget-Me-Not Butterflies, so you don’t need to see me off. Remember this: if a dog bites someone, should we go and bite the dog too? Keep your distance from mad dogs." She giggled, stuck out her tongue making a funny face, and stepped out the door. Her delicate white figure vanished gracefully along the forest path.
Li Hong wiped the sweat that had formed on his forehead due to her relentless questioning and said, "Sister Chu Xi is nice but just too curious and hardworking."
Chuxiong nodded vigorously with his mouth full of snacks, speaking unclearly: "But if she keeps bringing such delicious treats, I wouldn't mind her coming often. After all, she's asking you for help and not me; hey hey, I'm happy to enjoy good food."
Li Hong tapped his neck, saying, "Just remember to eat."
The two brothers enjoyed a delicious meal, feeling quite pleased that being punished wasn't such a bad thing after all. However, when it came time for Chuxiong to draw symbols, they began to curse Chuxuan again.

In the forest Clearing, Li Hong sat cross-legged, immersed in his Upper Dantian Purple Palace. The Multicolored Light Sphere had grown larger, resembling a bright and blazing flame in the dark space of the Upper Dantian. In the center, the Innate Vital Blood wrapped around the Three Souls and Seven Spirits was increasingly crimson. Upon closer inspection, subtle distinctions began to emerge on its surface. At the very center, the small bright green dot remained unchanged—that was the Fire Separation Pearl.
After absorbing the Multicolored Light Dots, Li Hong pushed against the surface of the vital blood mass as usual. A small protrusion emerged from the smooth red surface of the Innate Vital Blood, causing a corresponding part of the outer Multicolored Light Sphere to bulge outward as well. This tentacle-like strand grew longer as it floated in the vast dark space of the Upper Dantian, almost reaching beyond it before retracting weakly. After pulling it back, Li Hong once again extended a slender multicolored tentacle from another side of the Innate Vital Blood. He repeated this exercise until he was utterly exhausted.
Next came nourishing his entire meridian system. Now, his meridians had condensed significantly and widened a bit more, resulting in that small five-colored Iridescence sphere diminishing when it returned to the Upper Dantian Purple Palace. Thus, Li Hong changed locations and began absorbing those Multicolored Light Dots once more.
This was a secret he had recently discovered. Previously, after absorbing a batch of Multicolored Light Dots, there was little left to absorb again unless he waited over five hours for them to reappear. However, he accidentally found out that it was related to location. Once he finished absorbing the Multicolored Light Dots in one spot, he could simply move to a farther location and absorb another batch without waiting for them to reappear. This way, he didn't have to waste time waiting, significantly increasing his training progress. This discovery thrilled him.
After repeating this process several times, Li Hong opened his eyes feeling refreshed. In the darkness, two almost tangible five-colored Iridescence rays burst forth from his eyes.
He took a deep breath and lightly soared up to the treetops, returning to his usual spot in the forest Clearing, where he began practicing the Summoning Technique. He had become quite proficient with the incantation and chanted: “Heaven and Earth, All Things Have Spirits, chaos grants me form; heaven returns and earth turns as my spirit wanders through Taiqing; evil spirits and demons bow down before me. Swift!”
The ghostly figures were summoned once more. Li Hong paid special attention and noticed that this time, the ghostly figure of a cultivator wearing a tall crown did not appear.
For some reason, he realized that each time he summoned an Evil Spirit, they varied. Perhaps it was because these Evil Spirits and Yin Spirits were constantly wandering about; this time, the cultivator ghost just happened not to be nearby. Li Hong wasn't entirely sure about this point. Currently, his cultivation was mostly self-exploration.
It wasn't until the sky gradually brightened that Li Hong concluded his practice. He ran behind the house to fetch water for a refreshing bath before jumping through the second-floor window.
Chuxiong was also cultivating. Now that he had established his foundation, he was practicing the 《Li Fire Scripture》. Bright red light visible to the naked eye burst forth from his twelve meridians and eight extraordinary vessels, making it seem as if there were raging flames burning within his body.
Li Hong quietly walked into his bedroom and lay down after a while.
Every day was spent in cultivation, and life was very peaceful. The one-month house arrest period soon came to an end. During this time, Li Hong did not leave the house. Senior Brother Chuming visited once and mentioned that the Master had gone down the mountain. Recently, Spirit Stone had often been absent, and the other disciples had gotten used to it. It was only when Li Hong's house arrest period ended that Spirit Stone returned to the mountain.
Upon seeing Chuxuan again, Li Hong noticed many changes in him. Although their meeting was not accompanied by smiles, at least he could calmly address him as Sixth Senior Brother in front of others. When Spirit Stone lectured, he spoke earnestly and appeared respectful and diligent; his previous cold remarks had disappeared, making him seem much more agreeable.
Li Hong still felt a bit strange and remained cautious in his heart.
One day, Li Hong went to the Dining Hall for breakfast with Chuxiong. As they approached the Herb Grove, Li Hong's keen senses picked up some sounds. He stopped and tugged at Chuxiong.
Faint voices drifted from ahead.
The Herb Grove was home to many rare medicinal herbs, many of which were treasures over hundreds of years old. Initially unaware of their value, they later learned that each herb here could be worth a fortune in the human realm. Therefore, Spirit Stone established a rule that disciples of this lineage were not allowed to come here without reason. Only Li Hong and his brother, living at the mountain peak, could freely pass through this small path leading to the Three-Story Pavilion and Dining Hall at the mountainside.
There shouldn't have been anyone here. Who was speaking in the Herb Grove so early in the morning?
