I intentionally approached Gu Yicheng, originally just wanting to take revenge on my detestable Stepmother, but as I stared at Gu Yicheng's face, I couldn't help but lick my lips.
Damn!
I have to admit that every aspect of Puppy Brother was exactly to my liking.
The first time I saw Gu Yicheng was when Old Xia personally brought him into my home by the hand.
My parents had divorced long ago, and my mother took her share of the assets and flew off to the Atlantic, rarely contacting me.
I didn't like Gu Yicheng because I felt he would encroach on my position.
I disliked his mother even more.
Ever since I heard her bragging to her friends about how she hooked Old Xia and how she went from being a hotel waitress to the mistress of a wealthy family, I felt a deep resentment. To gain so much, one must pay something in return, right?
"Gu Yicheng."
From that day on, he became my brother.
Old Xia no longer had eyes only for me; he was doing well, always ranking first in his class. Unlike me, he was smart and disciplined, and knew how to please Old Xia. Old Xia even said he would send him abroad for further studies.
"Xia Jiayi, why don't you learn from your brother?"
Gu Yicheng knew I didn't like him, so he rarely appeared in front of me. Although I bullied him privately, he never reported me.
I knew that with his background, he had no courage to challenge me.
So I deliberately broke Old Xia's antique and framed him for it. Yet Gu Yicheng never showed any signs of resistance; he would lower his head and quietly apologize to the adults, saying it was his carelessness.
After school, I intentionally took his umbrella and phone, leaving him to walk home in the rain alone. When he developed a high fever at night and Old Xia wanted to punish me, he would stand up and say it was his poor health and had nothing to do with me.
Even when he first arrived, I hid nearby and watched as my friends taught him a lesson in the alley.
When I purposely walked in front of him and called him home, his injured face surprisingly showed happiness; the originally dim light in his eyes was filled with joy as he reached out to me and said, "Sister, were you waiting for me to come home?"
I stared at him coldly. I have to say, Gu Yicheng is just as good at acting as his mother.
Like right now, he sits upright, still wearing his school uniform, with his books placed neatly on the desk. With his single eyelids and high nose bridge, from my viewpoint, his attractive profile is exceptionally smooth.
I crumpled a piece of draft paper and threw it at his face. Gu Yicheng merely frowned slightly and helped me toss it into the trash can.
"How boring."
I pushed my homework in front of him and tapped on the desk.
Gu Yicheng said nothing, silently taking my notebook. His eyes, untouched by dust, appeared particularly sincere.
It was during this summer that I lay on the desk, drowsily watching him quietly do my homework. When sunlight streamed through the window and illuminated him, I felt a stir of wicked thoughts for the first time.
It was after he came to our university that I decided to make a move on Gu Yicheng.
I don't know why he chose the same university as me, but he deliberately appeared in front of me to provoke my anger; he was pushing me.
"If you need any help, just call me anytime."
So I pretended to be a caring older sister, annoyingly reminding him to take good care of himself.
Gu Yicheng is not cunning; when his beautiful eyes look at me, they shine with light and cautious probing.
Perhaps thinking that I had accepted him, when he looks up at me, there’s a mix of warmth and caution in his gaze. Every time I turn back to find him, I can always meet his gentle eyes.
Our family specifically rented a two-bedroom apartment for us. Gu Yicheng comes home every day to cook for me. Even though I said we could hire a housekeeper, he still refuses to listen.
"Sister Jia Yi, remember to drink less alcohol."
After getting drunk with friends, I called Gu Yicheng to come pick me up.
He seemed to be sound asleep, but after receiving my call, I heard the rustling sound of him getting dressed on the other end.
The cold wind hit my legs, making them particularly chilly, yet I felt a vague anticipation in my heart.
A friend asked if they should give me a ride home.
I smiled at them charmingly, skillfully pulling a cigarette from my bag and lighting it. "No need, someone is coming to pick me up."
It didn't seem like much time had passed when I leaned against the electric pole, almost dozing off, when a familiar scent enveloped me. Gu Yicheng wrapped his coat around me.
"You'll have a headache again tomorrow morning."
I seemed to hear him sigh lightly as he gently draped the blanket over me and brought over makeup remover wipes to carefully clean my face.
I opened my eyes and saw him intently studying every part of my face.
A light laugh escaped my throat as I leaned into him, feeling the warmth of his body. We were so close that I could stare into his face. "Gu Yicheng, you smell really good."
"Sister Jia Yi..."
His voice trembled unconsciously. I couldn't stand his upright demeanor; despite having lived with his mother since childhood, how could he still be so innocent? So I lowered my gaze and held onto him.
When I looked up, I met his excessively deep eyes.
Hah, such pretentiousness.
