In fact, Qianjizi's attitude towards these two individuals is not without reason. At the very least, the one they desperately came to rescue, Ye Feng, has fallen into crisis again because of their relationship. If he can survive this crisis, then Qianjizi and Zhu Feng might still be able to treat each other calmly.
However, if something unexpected happens, even going to the Azure Thunder Sect and Taiyi Tower headquarters to seek justice is not out of the question!
Thundercloud Step and Yangzi are aware of their responsibilities and remain silent for the moment. The words spoken by the former may be harsh, but they are also the truth. Meanwhile, Wang Wei and Liao Fan, caught in the middle, feel somewhat awkward. They have received care from Qianjizi and Zhu Feng along the way, making it difficult to speak well even in front of their own sect's elders!
"Once we reach a safe place, you must tell us everything that happened here!" Yangzi and Thundercloud Step said to Liao Fan and Wang Wei when they found a moment.
What else could Wang Wei and Liao Fan say? They could only nod repeatedly. Under the cover of night, the group led by Qianjizi moved at a steady pace. Their escape route was rarely crossed by rogue bandits. As the moonlight quietly passed, dawn gradually brightened the sky!
When that glimmer of hopeful light shone on everyone's faces, it revealed their exhaustion. Yet beneath that weary expression lay hidden joy! They had finally spotted houses in the distance!
In this vast plain, seeing houses meant they were not far from a town. Qianjizi and the others immediately quickened their pace while urging each other, "Let's go ahead and ask for some water; we should be close to safety! Keep it up!"
"Alright!" Seeing the dawn, everyone felt invigorated. Soon, they arrived at the houses, where the owners were a middle-aged couple. It was rare for them to see such a large group of martial artists, which made them visibly anxious. However, Qianjizi and his companions' demeanor put them at ease.
Confirming that they were not rogue bandits, the couple warmly welcomed them, offering homemade rice wine and dry rations. Qianjizi and his group expressed their gratitude with cupped fists. They were already starving and did not care whether the food was clean or tasty; everyone ate with great fervor!
The couple was taken aback by how hungry they were. After a moment of astonishment followed by a flurry of activity, Qianjizi finally asked, "Excuse me, which direction should we take to get out of this plain as quickly as possible?"
The middle-aged couple thought for a moment and pointed in a direction—towards the northwest, right where the sun would rise.
"Thank you for your warm hospitality. If there’s ever a chance in the future, I will definitely repay you!" Qianjizi said one last time before hurriedly leaving with his companions.
This left the couple in a daze, unable to comprehend what these people were doing. Yet the middle-aged man felt an unsettling sense of foreboding as if a large shadow was approaching from beyond where the sun would rise!
"Wife, I'm afraid we have to move out for a while!"
"What happened?"
"I don't know, but I have a feeling that the Rogue Bandits are going to launch a major crackdown here. You know how those thieves kill anyone they see!"
As the family at the edge of the plain began to pack up their belongings to escape, the sound of hooves from the Rogue Bandits' army was already sweeping through most of the central area. The dust they kicked up was creating a sandstorm that spread at a visible speed!
"The Big Boss said! Capture a martial artist alive, and you'll be rewarded with three hundred taels of silver! Kill one, and you'll get one hundred! Brothers, let's charge!"
Among the dense ranks, a horse bandit shouted this, instantly stirring up the crowd. Looking out, the overwhelming sight of the Rogue Bandits' army was incredibly imposing; no one would doubt that this group could easily rival a regular army and crush everything on this plain!
"My lord, we received word from over there. They said we should just put on a show and not rush to expand towards the battlefield!" In the center of the army stood a tall and fierce-looking man, who was the leader of this group of bandits. However, when he heard what the Centurion said, he revealed a look of suspicion!
"Not to expand? Does she mean to scare those people?"
"Uh, probably!" The Centurion sensed the Big Boss's displeasure and spoke cautiously.
Sure enough, the Big Boss coldly snorted: "Ridiculous! Does she think this is child's play? It was her who ordered us to kill everyone who came to this plain. Now she wants to spare those survivors? We don't even know how many subordinates we've sacrificed these days for no reason!"
"Well, I don't know either. Perhaps that lord has her own considerations?" The Centurion was sweating profusely; the rift between the Big Boss and that lord had long been apparent, but no one dared to take a stand or risk tearing their faces apart!
At this moment, the Big Boss's words somewhat exposed his feelings. Fortunately, he seemed aware of his slip-up and quickly sighed: "Forget it, let's listen to her. Order the troops to shrink the encirclement!"
Upon hearing this, Centurion immediately let out a sigh of relief. He was worried that Big Boss would pose some difficult problem at this moment. After receiving the order, he commanded his subordinates to release several signal flares. The fireworks blooming in the sky were a beacon of hope for most people.
Thus, the encirclement speed of the Rogue Bandits began to decrease. Meanwhile, Ye Feng and Flying Spirit Lion continued their journey without pause. By the afternoon, they could already sense that they were moving away from the Bandits. Although there were still no houses around, at this pace, they would likely be able to completely leave this cursed plain by tomorrow!
"Senior, we should be able to see the town by now. According to the feedback from my perception, there hasn't been any fighting. This is great!" Ye Feng said with relief after probing with his Divine Consciousness.
Flying Spirit Lion showed no reaction and glanced at the sky. It was getting close to evening, and if they chose to continue on their journey now, they would have to set off immediately; otherwise, this place was not suitable for resting.
"Have you walked this road before?"
"No, but any straight road will eventually lead to an end if you keep going!"
"Did you sense anything unusual?" The sudden words from Flying Spirit Lion puzzled Ye Feng. What was this guy talking about? Did he notice something strange?
However, the surrounding environment was too ordinary; there was nothing noteworthy! Seeing Ye Feng's confused expression, Flying Spirit Lion said, "If I told you that right beneath our feet is the eye of the formation I guard, would you believe me?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Feng's eyes widened in disbelief as he exclaimed, "How is that possible!"
Flying Spirit Lion anticipated his surprise and calmly replied, "There's nothing impossible about it. That's why I asked you; perhaps the path we just took wasn't a straight line at all!"
This logic was easy to clarify because if Ye Feng had indeed walked in a straight line, it would have been impossible for him to arrive directly above Flying Spirit Lion's formation eye. There must be a winding relationship involved. Therefore, his statement left Ye Feng deep in thought.
"Do you think we're going in circles?" After a long while, Ye Feng said.
"Not really, at least we are lost," the Flying Spirit Lion said calmly.
Ye Feng smiled wryly; there seemed to be little difference between the two statements. However, the complexity of the terrain in this plain appeared to far exceed his expectations. If that were the case, it wouldn't be as simple as he had imagined to find a way out of here.
Just then, an unexpected change occurred. A black line appeared on the distant horizon. The speed of its spread was not fast, but it was clear that it was a group! Ye Feng's heart tightened at once, wondering if that group of Rogue Bandits had caught up so quickly.
The Sky-Soaring Spirit Lion had a much better view than Ye Feng. With a glance, he identified what that black line was!
"It must be a Camel Caravan..." Upon hearing this, Ye Feng was taken aback and strained his eyes to look again. Sure enough, he found that the group was indeed as the Sky Lion had said!
"Alright, I was quite scared too!"
"Perhaps we can ask this caravan for directions!" the Flying Spirit Lion suggested suddenly.
Hearing this, Ye Feng smiled; it seemed that there was still hope. After making up their minds, they ran towards the caravan. When the caravan first spotted Ye Feng and his companion, they thought they were being robbed and were startled. However, after learning the reason for their approach, they immediately relaxed.
"The path you are on is indeed the way out, but you've taken quite a detour. If you continue in this direction, you should reach the town by tomorrow at the latest!" the Leader of the Caravan said.
Ye Feng and the Flying Spirit Lion looked at each other in surprise; it seemed the situation was much better than they had imagined! They exchanged pleasantries and learned that this caravan's purpose was to transport resources across the plains. However, the complex situation with the Rogue Bandits in this area could not be underestimated.
When Ye Feng explained their situation to the Leader of the Caravan, the leader's face turned pale, and he couldn't help but say, "What are we going to do? If that's really the case, then this route is absolutely not safe!"
Ye Feng nodded and continued, "No matter which route we take now, it should be under the control of Rogue Bandits. Shopkeeper, I suggest you turn back for now. Wait a few days until things calm down before attempting to cross."
As soon as these words were spoken, the leader of the caravan felt a bit troubled. Looking at the large amount of supplies behind him, he realized that if they truly encountered Rogue Bandits, everything would be lost, and it was uncertain whether they would survive. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Alright then, since you insist, we will return the way we came!"
The Shopkeeper was quite sensible and did not joke about life. The subordinates behind him immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Ye Feng and the Flying Spirit Lion exchanged glances and smiled slightly; this way, they could hitch a ride!
Sure enough, the Boss, having received the kind reminder, warmly greeted them: "Since we are all heading in the same direction, let's travel together! The route I take leads to a small town. May I ask what your final destination is?"
"Ning Cang City!" Ye Feng replied without hesitation.
The Shopkeeper nodded and said, "That's a big city. Starting from this small town, there is a relay station, and it should take less than a day to reach!"
After hearing this, Ye Feng felt somewhat reassured. At this point, the Rogue Bandits would definitely not catch up with them. Following this caravan was much better than trekking alone for a long distance. Calculating it out, returning to Ning Cang City would probably only take two or three days!
"In that case, I thank you, Shopkeeper!"
"Not at all! If it weren't for your reminder, my caravan might have met its end here!"
"Haha!" The rare relaxed conversation echoed within the caravan as the crisis on Yue Ma Plain finally came to an end!
