"I started paying my tuition with scholarships in high school, and in college, I worked part-time to get through." 0
"Liu An is unambitious and wants to drop out; his family supports him, and he still isn't doing well. Can you blame me?" 0
The Stepmother shouted, "You are his sister; since you can't have children, you should take care of him and your Nephew!" 0
"People need to know gratitude and have a conscience!" 0
I coldly replied, "I have no conscience, and I won't have one in the future." 0
"I can live my life with Zhang Zhao without any obligations to support parents or siblings." 0
"I've supported you for ten years; that's enough." 0
"From now on, if you want a better life, you'll have to work for it yourself." 0
With that, I hung up the phone. 0
I covered my eyes as tears streamed down my face. 0
At that moment, the door was pushed open. 0
Zhang Zhao stood at the doorway, looking puzzled. "Cece, what's wrong?" 0
I shook my head. "I'm fine." 0
Zhang Zhao walked to the bedside and reached out to touch my forehead. 0
"You're not running a fever." 0
"Why are your eyes so red?" 0
I threw myself into Zhang Zhao's arms and held him tightly. 0
"Zhang Zhao, I'm okay." 0
"I just feel so lucky to have you." 0
Zhang Zhao squatted in front of me and patiently wiped away my tears. 0
In that moment, I realized that family is not defined by blood relations. 0
Family is about supporting each other, relying on one another, caring for each other, and loving one another. 0
It is not about taking without giving, hurting, or betraying. 0

Since then, I have never shed a tear for those who are not worth it. 0

On the day I was discharged from the hospital, I saw An Xin, my brother's sister-in-law and my "best friend." 0

"Xinxin, what are you doing here?" 0

An Xin smiled and said, "I heard from your brother that you were going to have surgery. I was worried about you, so I wanted to come see you." 0

I frowned. "My brother told you?" 0

An Xin nodded. "Yes." 0

I looked at her, feeling a chill in my heart. 0

In my past life, after my surgery, An Xin had never come to visit me. She hadn't even made a single phone call to check on me. However, after I was discharged, she appeared at my house with my brother, pressuring my husband to write a will. It was then that I realized An Xin and my brother had been together for a long time. 0

An Xin's ex-husband was introduced by my brother, and after they got married, it was always my brother supporting them. An Xin and my brother were a pair of shameless lovers. 0

I sneered inwardly; An Xin and my brother truly were a match made in heaven. They were both so disgusting. 0

I stared at her and suddenly laughed. "Xinxin, are you really here to see me?" 0

An Xin was taken aback for a moment. "Of course!" 0

"Then why didn't you come when I was in the hospital? Why wait until I was discharged?" 0

An Xin awkwardly smiled. "I... I've been a bit busy lately." 0

I nodded. "Oh, I understand." 0

"You were afraid that if I died, you wouldn't get to see me one last time, so you wanted to see me in the hospital before that happened, right?" 0

An Xin's expression turned very ugly. 0

"Cece, why are you saying that?" 0
"I'm really worried about you, which is why I came to the hospital to see you." 0
"If you don't believe me, you can ask your brother." 0
I smiled and said, "I believe you." 0
"Of course I do." 0
"Xinxin, since you have such a good relationship with my brother, how could you possibly harm me?" 0
An Xin's expression darkened further. 0
I looked at her and sneered inwardly. 0
"Xinxin, since you and my brother are so close, could it be that my brother suggested you follow me to the hospital?" 0
"What are you talking about?" An Xin's face changed dramatically. "I... I don't know what you're saying." 0
"Cece, I have something else to attend to, so I'm leaving now. Let's catch up later." 0
With that, she turned and walked away. 0
I chuckled lightly, "Take care, no need to see me off." 0
Zhang Zhao frowned slightly. "Who is she?" 0
I replied casually, "A friend." 0
Zhang Zhao asked in confusion, "A friend?" 0
"Why do I feel like she's a bit strange?" 0
I smiled again, "She is a little odd." 0
"But it's fine; we won't see each other much in the future." 0
Zhang Zhao nodded, "Yeah." 0
