Chuchu had been busy bandaging Wounded's arrow wound, so she was unaware that someone had sneaked into the tent to commit suicide. Seeing the serious expressions on the faces of the two men speaking, and their complete lack of urgency, anger surged within her. Without a moment to spare, she pushed the two gatekeepers aside, swept aside the tent curtain, and jumped inside. 0

As the fabric of the curtain closed behind her, Shisan and Li Xin took the opportunity to glance inside the tent. They saw Luzi standing alone at the table, seemingly unaware of any ropes or other items nearby. Exchanging glances, they quickly decided to escape this troublesome place. As long as they weren't caught in the act, they could deny everything later. Moreover, without evidence proving that someone had acted maliciously, what could anyone do? Even if they were beaten to death, no one could pin anything on them! 0

Chuchu rushed into the tent and found Luzi standing there unharmed. She immediately understood what was happening. As long as this person was safe, nothing else mattered. However, her worry was not unfounded; the earlier feeling of confusion had been very real. At that moment, she couldn't care less about anything else and rushed forward to wrap her arms around Luzi's waist, crying softly. 0

Luzi's attention was focused on a wooden box on the table, so he hadn't heard anyone enter without permission. His rule was that when he was alone, no one was allowed to disturb him. Hearing footsteps without processing it yet, he suddenly felt someone lean against his shoulder and start to cry. Upon hearing that familiar voice, his initial intention to scold vanished without a trace. 0

Sighing inwardly, Luzi gently pried apart Chuchu's tightly clasped hands. When he turned around and saw her tear-streaked face, he felt somewhat at a loss. He had intended to wipe away her tears but ultimately decided to take a small step back and offer her a handkerchief instead. 0

"Chuchu, crying so sorrowfully—who has died? Shisan or Eighteen?" 0

Chuchu had been somewhat lost in her emotions; after all, Luzi was her only remaining family in this world. If this person were truly gone, she believed she would never again find joy in this sorrowful existence. Suddenly hearing those words made her laugh through her tears. "They're both perfectly fine! Not even a scratch on them!" 0

Hearing that these two troublemakers were safe, Luzi slapped his thigh in relief. "Oh no! Could it be Wang Jian?!" 0

Wang Jian had just helped him treat Wounded earlier; surely he wouldn't be in trouble now. Chuchu quickly reassured him that Wang Jian only had a couple of minor scratches from sharp objects and that there was no need for concern. 0

Luzi nodded heavily and turned away with his hands behind his back to gaze at the wooden box on the table without saying another word. He truly didn't have the heart to tell Chuchu not to barge in like that again; after thinking it over, he decided not to bring it up at all. It was fine; it really wasn't a big deal! 0

The current situation was far from optimistic; there was no doubt about the overwhelming odds against them. The dozens of subordinates left in the capital of Chu had not yet arrived; they were likely either unable to leave the city or blocked by Xingling Jun's Retainers along the way. It was uncertain whether Meng Wu's reinforcements would arrive in time; considering the distance between them made it seem unrealistic. Even with fast horses pushing hard, they wouldn't arrive until tomorrow evening at the earliest. If heavy rains continued to muddy the roads over several days, it would be uncertain whether they could arrive by the day after tomorrow! Analyzing all these factors regarding their current situation led him to conclude that the best outcome would be to hold out until tomorrow evening. If reinforcements still hadn't arrived by then, seeing sunlight on the day after tomorrow would be impossible! 0

The temperature in the mountains was already lower than that on the plains, and with autumn's rainy season making an already damp environment even chillier, Luzi felt a bit cold as he pondered these matters. Rubbing his hands together, he noticed a cloak draped over his shoulders. Gratefully nodding in acknowledgment, he said, "Chuchu! Go get Eighteen and Wang Jian; I have something to discuss." 0

Chuchu agreed while helping Luzi adjust his cloak before turning and exiting the tent. 0

Watching her leave, Luzi suddenly had a thought. It would be great if she were a man. He could serve as a personal attendant, saving a lot of worry and attention to detail. 0

Upon receiving the summons, Wang Jian and Li Xin immediately set aside their tasks and hurried over, cupping their fists in greeting before standing ready on either side. 0

Luzi looked at the two Qin State warriors and smiled, nodding. "Gentlemen! Let’s skip the small talk; our current situation is not optimistic. Rather than retreating and being picked off one by one on the road, it would be better to hold our ground and wait for reinforcements. This is my personal opinion; do you both have any good suggestions?" 0

Wang Jian, not being familiar with the situation, dared not voice his own plans just yet. He had seen the actions of Shisan and Li Xin earlier and knew that the relationship among these four had already deepened significantly. Since he had just returned to the team, it was better for him to listen more than speak. So he looked at Li Xin across from him, wanting to hear what he had to say. 0

After the first clash with Wei Wujie, Li Xin also noticed the long-range weapon in Wang Jian's hands. Aside from its inability to achieve continuous fire, he couldn't find any faults with it. Its accuracy and range had already surpassed that of traditional bows, indicating that this weapon must belong to a secret category. Being in the same circle, they naturally knew some hidden secrets. If crossbows became the preferred weapon for the Qin Army in future battles, then Wang Jian's importance at this moment was only second to Luzi's. 0

"My lords! I believe we can plan this way! General Wang Jian will protect Luzi and break out under cover of night while I will lead the remaining troops to hold our ground and await reinforcements." 0

Seeing that Li Xin had finished speaking and said no more, Wang Jian took out a map from his pocket and presented it with both hands. "My lord! This is the location of that family's temporary residence, on the way back home. Let Lord Li protect you as you leave first while I hold our position." 0

Luzi did not take the map but gestured for it to be put away. "What else do you have?" 0

Wang Jian and Li Xin exchanged glances before shaking their heads to indicate they had no other plans. 0

Luzi turned around and sat down. "Generals Wang and Li, listen to my orders!" 0

"Yes!" 0

"While the enemy's encirclement has not yet closed in, General Wang should quickly pack up and lead part of our forces to retreat." 0

Hearing such an order, Wang Jian bowed respectfully. "My lord! Allow me..." 0

Luzi waved his hand. "This is an order!" 0

"Understood!" 0

Luzi stood up and grasped Wang Jian's hands. "The burden on you is not light either; I need your assurance now!" 0

What assurance? Of course, it was the guarantee to safely escort that legendary family back to Qin State! Wang Jian promised, "Rest assured, Your Excellency! I will definitely complete the escort mission!" 0

Luzi nodded. "Thank you, General! They are the hope of our Great Qin, the hope of all the soldiers! Take care!" 0

"My lord!" Wang Jian clasped his fists and bowed deeply to Luzi. "Your Excellency will wait at the border for both lords to return triumphantly! Take care!" After saying this, he nodded at Li Xin. "The safety of Luzi is entrusted to my brother; I appreciate your hard work!" 0

Li Xin patted his chest. "No worries! Senior brother, be careful on the road!" 0

Wang Jian nodded and then clasped his fists towards the two. "Take care!" 0

"Take care!" 0
