The ambulance arrived, and as the doctor was lifting me inside, Wenwen rushed over, trying to bite me.
The doctor was startled: "Why is this dog so fierce? It's acting like it's gone mad."
He looked at me, then at Cui Xiangdong: "Are you all family?"
Cui Xiangdong nodded.
The doctor hesitated: "How about taking this dog for a check-up to see if there's something wrong with it?"
Cui Xiangdong's expression instantly turned cold: "No need, Wenwen is very healthy."
The doctor sighed: "Then be careful. This dog just tried to bite you; it must have some issues."
Cui Xiangdong coldly replied: "Wenwen is very well-behaved. If she hadn't attacked first, Wenwen wouldn't have bitten her."
The doctor looked at him in surprise and quietly asked me: "Are you really family with him?"
I shook my head.
The doctor said: "If you want, I can help you call the police."
Cui Xiangdong suddenly looked over, his eyes fierce as if he wanted to eat someone.
The doctor quickly added: "I just find it strange that your husband treats you this way. This dog has already bitten you, and he's still siding with a beast."
I smiled lightly: "Yeah, I find it strange too."
Cui Xiangdong tightened his hold on Wenwen, watching the doctor warily: "Don't even think about taking my Wenwen."
The doctor was speechless and shook his head as he left.
Once the ambulance reached the hospital, the doctor examined my wound and said it was fortunate that no tendons were damaged; with proper care, it shouldn't leave a scar.
I paused for a moment: "No need, let it leave a scar."
Consider it a reminder for myself.
Being love-struck is not good.
I lay on the hospital bed scrolling through my phone when I came across a video.
In the video, Cui Xiangdong was carrying Wenwen as he rushed out from the ruins of an earthquake.
He was running frantically, having lost one of his shoes, his hair disheveled and his clothes covered in dust.
He tightly held onto Wenwen, whose claws gripped his shoulder firmly. He looked disheveled yet deeply affectionate. The comments below the video were filled with reactions:
"Oh my, President Cui is really so caring, thinking of saving the dog even in such a critical moment."
"Woo woo woo, if someone treated me like that, I would definitely be moved to tears."
"I feel like President Cui must be a really great man; his wife must be very happy."
I chuckled lightly and tossed my phone aside after locking the screen. They had no idea that in the same situation, Cui Xiangdong would never run out holding me. Perhaps he would even kick me aside like he did with Wenwen because I was in the way.
The next day, Cui Xiangdong came to see me. He brought a fruit basket and sat beside me, peeling an apple. I quietly watched him as he used the knife to peel the apple in long, continuous strips without breaking or bending them.
He handed me the apple and said, "Eat it."
I stared at the apple for a moment before suddenly knocking it to the ground.
Cui Xiangdong's expression darkened. "What are you causing a scene about now?"
"I'm causing a scene?" I pointed at the apple on the floor. "I'm allergic to this thing; didn't you know?"
He froze for a moment, his face showing confusion.
I looked at him sarcastically. "Of course you don't know; you never care about me, so how would you know what I'm allergic to?"
"Yang Fangfang, what exactly are you making a fuss about?" He frowned. "Wenwen just bit you once, and you also hit it; doesn't that make it even?"
"Even?" I laughed in anger. "Do you know what punishment a vicious dog that attacks its master receives back in my hometown?"
He paused for a moment and raised his eyes to stare at me.
