"You better hope I don't make it out alive, or else I'll make you suffer a hundred times more than I have!" Kato Muteki's face immediately changed, turning ashen.
"That only works if I give you the chance to live. Generally, when someone falls into my hands, they either die quickly or are tortured for the rest of their lives. Clearly, given your status as a dog of the Dark Order and a Little Devil, I prefer the latter option for you."
Liufeng sneered and ignored Kato Muteki's curses, directly connecting two electrical clips to a device.
Zzzz… Continuous electricity flowed into the clips.
"Ahhh… you won't die well… I won't let you go!"
Kato Muteki trembled all over, his expression contorting as his muscles tightened from the electric shock.
"Threatening me is useless. I don't care about anyone's threats, especially those from a prisoner. Heh heh. Enjoy yourself. Dying would be a blessing for you; let's see how long you can endure the current." Liufeng shrugged nonchalantly, his expression resembling that of a madman.
Kato Muteki's face was twisted in agony, his eyes rolling back occasionally, and his body shook without pause.
The current wasn't very strong; Liufeng was careful with his methods. He didn't want to kill Kato Muteki outright, but for someone as defiant as him, he had to employ the most effective means.
"How does it feel?" Liufeng turned off the electricity and looked at the exhausted Kato Muteki with a smile.
"Not bad."
"Good, then let's continue."
Liufeng's lips curled into a wicked grin as he nodded and picked up a bottle filled with chili peppers. After opening the cap, he poured its contents directly into Kato Muteki's mouth and sealed it with tape.
The chili peppers were extremely spicy Bird's Eye Chili; in an instant, Kato Muteki's face became quite colorful, his eyes wide open and his fair cheeks slightly reddened.
Of course, it wasn't Kato Muteki who was shy, with his cheeks slightly flushed; it was that the chili was just too spicy, making his face turn red.
Anyone who has eaten chili knows this feeling—it's unbearable!
"Isn't the chili pretty good? It's flavorful enough to make this a memorable experience for you. Chili isn't a worm; can you really hold back from swallowing it? But if you do swallow it, your stomach won't be able to handle it," Liufeng said, his expression growing increasingly deranged, like a severely disturbed patient who had just escaped from a mental hospital.
Everything he was doing now was just to force Kato Muteki to speak. Liufeng knew very well that Kato Muteki was hard to crack, so at first, he didn't ask him any questions but instead resorted directly to tormenting him.
Only by driving Kato Muteki completely insane would it be much easier to extract information from him afterward.
"I'm a bit hungry; I'm going out to get something to eat. You take your time finishing the chili, and I'll come back later to play with you," Liufeng grinned menacingly and said, "Don't worry; I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve. I guarantee you'll experience some thrilling sensations. Just wait for me."
With that, Liufeng really left.
At that moment, Kato Muteki was filled with despair, a flash of regret crossing his eyes.
Ending up in such a situation was entirely due to his arrogance. If it weren't for Kato Muteki's excessive confidence and his misguided belief that he could tempt He Yunsong, and if he had prepared a bit more, he wouldn't be here at all.
Unfortunately, regret was useless; things had already progressed to this point, and there was no turning back. Kato Muteki felt an overwhelming sense of panic.
His heart raced uncontrollably, and his mouth and stomach felt like they were on fire from the spicy heat. This inhuman torment left Kato Muteki extremely weak, sweat soaking his body, and his pale face tinged with a slight redness.
"Sorry for the delay; I took a bit longer on the way back. But it's okay— to express my apologies, I brought back a whole bunch of things for you," Liufeng said as he placed the large box he was carrying on the ground and opened it, pulling out a saw.
A rusty, dull saw!
Seeing the saw in Liufeng's hand and looking back at the contents of the box left Kato Muteki in shock, filled more with despair and helplessness.
"Hey, I've looked everywhere and couldn't find a new saw. This one will have to do, so don't complain." Liufeng's expression was surprisingly a bit embarrassed.
A rusty saw is probably harder to find than a new one, but Liufeng didn't need to state his intentions directly; Kato Muteki understood perfectly.
Using a dull, rusty saw isn't very efficient; it could take a long time to cut through something. If it's used on body parts, it would be extremely painful.
Liufeng's intention was just that; he wanted to make Kato Muteki shudder, to make him imagine the pain before actually experiencing it.
This was not only physical torment but also psychological torture. If his mouth hadn't been gagged, Kato Muteki would likely have been cursing.
"Once I finish sawing off your legs, I'll use glue to put them back on..." Liufeng shook a bottle of strong adhesive he took from the box and then set it down. "But we're not at that point yet; the pleasure should come slowly. If it's too fast, it won't be interesting."
Liufeng took out an acupuncture kit and forcefully jabbed the needles into Kato Muteki's body one by one. By the time he finished with all the needles in his hand, Kato Muteki had already passed out.
"This is so boring; you passed out too quickly. The real show hasn't even started yet." Liufeng shook his head and splashed water on Kato Muteki's face to wake him up.
"I'm not done with my methods yet, so don't rush to sleep. If I can't see your expressions change, then what I'm doing loses its meaning." Liufeng tore away the gag from Kato Muteki's mouth.
"You bastard! If you have the guts, just kill me!" Kato Muteki said fiercely; he preferred death over experiencing this kind of pain.
"That's right, I am a bastard," Liufeng replied with a smile. "You've fallen into the hands of a bastard, so you'll live in pain."
Saying this, Liufeng picked up the dull saw from the box again.
"What do you want to do?" Kato Muteki's tone softened slightly.
"Don't you understand what I want to do? I want to torment you until you go insane, making it hard for you to forget even when you close your eyes." Liufeng felt that the timing wasn't right yet; asking Kato Muteki questions wouldn't yield any results. He still wouldn't speak.
Liufeng held a dull saw against Kato Muteki's knee.
Just as Liufeng was about to start sawing, Kato Muteki shouted in horror, "No, if you let me go, I can tell you some things."
"Some things? What things? If it's about your wife liking to keep a sugar daddy like Xiao Huang, I'm not really interested," Liufeng replied with a feigned innocent smile.
"I can tell you some things you want to know!" Kato Muteki hurriedly said.
"Go ahead and tell me. If the information is valuable, I might consider letting you go," Liufeng said, stroking his chin with interest.
"This time my mission failed, and Lord will definitely come to Nanhua City personally..."
"If he comes, he comes. I don't seem to need to know that. I'm only curious about your purpose for coming here," Liufeng replied.
"Well..."
"It seems you're not planning to tell me the truth," Liufeng shook his head and prepared to pull the saw again.
"No, I will tell you the truth!" Kato Muteki exclaimed in fear.
"Speak."
"Our goal is the stone in your hands! As long as the stone remains with you, Eternity will not easily give up; he will spare no effort to get the stone back."
Kato Muteki dared not lie at all because he knew that for a man like Liufeng, lying would certainly be seen through. He feared that Liufeng would use the rusty dull saw to cut into his thigh!
"A stone is worth you going so crazy over? I'm quite curious about what makes this stone so special," Liufeng seemed to have had some guesses. Upon hearing Kato Muteki's words, he wasn't too shocked but felt somewhat puzzled.
A stone has caused the "Dark Order," this secretive organization, to go to great lengths to reclaim it. What kind of secret does it hold?
"What's wrong? Not going to say?" Liufeng said, his voice deepening as he looked at Kato Muteki, who seemed hesitant to speak.
"No, I will tell you. This stone is a meteorite that fell from the sky. It was discovered by the Tang Dynasty general Jie Zi'ang and used as a burial item in a tomb," Kato Muteki explained.
"You haven't told me what this stone does," Liufeng's cold gaze fixed on Kato Muteki.
"It is a Spirit Stone."
"Spirit Stone?"
"Yes, it can gather the surrounding Spiritual Energy and condense the scarce Spiritual Energy, allowing the human body to be preserved."
Thinking of the general's incorruptible body in the tomb, Liufeng realized that Kato Muteki was telling the truth, but it still felt too fantastical.
Does Spiritual Energy really exist in this world, something only mentioned in strange texts like the Classic of Mountains and Seas?
"So what do you want this stone for? Are you hoping to avoid decay when you die?" Liufeng asked with a furrowed brow.
"Yes," Kato Muteki replied without hesitation.
"You’re not being truthful." Liufeng caught a glimpse of cunning flashing in Kato Muteki's eyes and shook his head.
"I'm not lying; what I said is true. Eternity specifically had us help him obtain the stone so he could avoid decay," Kato Muteki hurriedly defended himself.
"You still haven't told me the whole truth."
Liufeng squinted, a cold glint in his eyes. "You possess wealth, enough for your descendants to live comfortably without working for generations. Yet, you serve Eternity. What has he given you in return? Wealth? You don't need it. Status? It seems you don't need that either; you hold a position without the power that comes with it. Women? With your abilities, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to attract a woman. So, what is it that you seek?"
"I truly seek a woman, one that I deeply love," Kato Muteki replied.
"It seems I won't get the truth out of you without some persuasion," Liufeng said as he pulled the saw, its jagged edge cutting in, blood flowing out.
"Ah, I'll tell you!" Kato Muteki cried out in pain, hastily adding.
"This is your last chance. If you still refuse to speak the truth, I will seal your mouth," Liufeng said calmly.
"Eternity promised that he could..."
"My patience is limited. If you keep dragging this out, don't blame me for not giving you another chance," Liufeng's voice grew colder as he noticed Kato Muteki hesitating to finish his sentence.
"He promised to grant us eternal life, allowing us to live forever," Kato Muteki finally said.
