The next day, while Mo Ming and Murong Lian were still asleep, Mo Ming's phone rang. He picked it up to find it was Murong Wei, who said he had arrived in Nanhua City. Mo Ming told him to return to Hillside Mansion, and they would go together shortly.
After hanging up, Murong Lian had already woken up. She wrapped her arms around Mo Ming's neck and kissed him passionately. Mo Ming responded in kind, and the two enjoyed a moment of intimacy before getting out of bed.
Once they got up and freshened up, they headed downstairs. Aunt Xiang was busy in the kitchen, and upon seeing Mo Ming and Murong Lian, she quickly served them meat porridge, saying with a smile, "This is meat porridge; it's lighter for breakfast, which is good for your health."
"No matter how light it is, as long as it’s made by Aunt Xiang, it will definitely be delicious," Mo Ming chuckled as he grabbed a bowl and spoon to dig in. Murong Lian only ate a little before stopping, claiming she had no appetite in the morning.
After finishing breakfast and waiting for half an hour, Murong Wei returned to Hillside Mansion. As soon as he walked in, Mo Ming noticed the joy on his face that he couldn't hide. The enemy was right before him, and revenge was close at hand; how could Murong Wei not feel happy?
"Mo Ming, have you eaten? If you're done, let's hurry and go see that bastard!" Murong Wei said directly.
Mo Ming understood Murong Wei's impatience and didn’t say much more. He took Murong Lian and Murong Wei into the car and drove away.
Initially, Murong Wei didn't want Murong Lian to come along, but after she insisted repeatedly and Mo Ming supported her request, he reluctantly agreed. In truth, he shared similar concerns with Mo Ming; he didn’t want Murong Lian to witness any bloody scenes.
However, Murong Lian wanted to see Yamada Ikko's demise with her own eyes so she could achieve true liberation. The three of them arrived at the basement. Mo Ming opened the door and led Murong Lian and Murong Wei down.
The basement was very quiet; there were no sounds from Yamada Ikko.
"Mo Ming, you left that bastard Gong Gao Yi here without anyone watching him? What if he escapes?" Murong Wei expressed his concerns about the lack of guards; he certainly didn't want to lose what was almost within reach.
In reality, he was overthinking it; Mo Ming wasn’t worried about Yamada Ikko escaping at all. If he really managed to get away, Mo Ming would have to admire him greatly.
"Don't worry; there's no way he can escape. Father-in-law, he's right inside!" Mo Ming led Murong Wei and Murong Lian to the door of a room. When he opened the door, a strong smell of honey wafted out.
Mo Ming turned on the lights, illuminating the previously dark room.
"Ah..." Murong Lian gasped at the sight before her and stepped back a few paces. She tightly clutched Mo Ming's arm and hid behind him.
Inside the room was a middle-aged man chained by his hands and feet, covered in numerous cuts. The blood from those wounds had dried up, replaced by countless ants crawling over them.
"Don't be afraid, Lian Lian, I'm here!" Mo Ming patted Murong Lian's hand and wrapped his arm around her waist, leading her into the room. He said to Murong Wei, "He should be Gong Gao Yi, right? I specifically didn't cut his face to help you recognize him."
Murong Wei was no stranger to storms and wasn't overly shocked. He stepped closer to Yamada Ikko and saw his almost pale face. Joy and anger intertwined within him, causing him to tremble as he exclaimed, "It's him! It's that bastard Gong Gao Yi! Even if he turns to ashes in this lifetime, I will still recognize him!"
"Father-in-law, he should only have half a breath left now. How you want to deal with him is up to you; I've fulfilled my promise to you."
Mo Ming glanced at the half-dead Yamada Ikko with no sympathy in his eyes, only a hint of sarcasm. This old man had also intended to take his life in Y Country, but Miyu had defied his orders.
"Good, good, good, Mo Ming! You haven't disappointed me. For so many years, I've been longing for this moment—to personally take down this old bastard! I've finally waited for this time!"
Murong Wei was overjoyed as he crouched down in front of Yamada Ikko. Anger flickered across his brow as he picked up some honey and poured it onto Yamada Ikko's wounds. Soon after, Yamada Ikko was awakened by the pain of ants gnawing at him.
"Ah!!!"
Murong Wei asked in a deep voice, "Gong Gao Yi, you old bastard, do you remember me? I'm Murong Wei—the one who lost his wife because of you. I think you should still remember!"
"Murong Wei... I never expected that after so many years... you'd still be seeking revenge on me... Ha! Now that I've fallen into your hands, I have nothing to say. You can kill or torture me as you please!" Yamada Ikko gasped for breath but still wore a sinister smile.
"Even if you escape to the ends of the earth, I will drag you out!" Murong Wei's voice was cold as he continued pouring honey onto Yamada Ikko's private parts. With a vicious smile, he said, "To kill you? No, I don't want you to die so easily. I want you to taste the agony first."
Yamada Ikko blinked slowly and gritted his teeth. "Murong Wei, you're truly despicable... If you're capable, just kill me! Kill me!"
"No, no, no! Killing you with one blow would be too easy for you. I want you to enjoy this torment fully before starving or dying from discomfort," Murong Wei laughed as he stood up. "I initially planned to finish you off quickly, but seeing your current state has made me change my mind—I won't let you die comfortably!"
"You... bastard..." Yamada Ikko gasped.
Murong Wei smiled coldly and turned to Murong Lian. "Lian'er, this bastard is the one who caused your mother's death. Now he has received the punishment he deserves. My heart is finally at peace; don't dwell on it anymore—just start a new life."
"Mm, I will." Murong Lian looked at Yamada Ikko's miserable state and nodded at Murong Wei in agreement before burying her head in Mo Ming's embrace.
Mo Ming understood Murong Wei's intentions and took Murong Lian and Murong Wei out of the basement. As for the lights, Mo Ming deliberately left them on; he wanted Yamada Ikko to see his miserable condition with his own eyes.
After leaving the basement, Mo Ming took Murong Wei to the airport. He had postponed a meeting to come back, and now that everything was handled and he had seen Yamada Ikko meet a terrible fate, he felt relieved and was ready to return to discussions about cooperation.
After dropping off Murong Wei at the airport, Mo Ming drove back to Hillside Mansion with Murong Lian. Since there was no need for Murong Lian to handle company matters for the time being, Mo Ming hoped she could take a break after today’s events; there was no rush to work again tomorrow.
“Mo Ming, thank you for everything you've done. If it weren't for you, I don't know when I would have been able to avenge my mother,” Murong Lian said, lying on Mo Ming's lap with a smile.
Mo Ming gently played with her hair and said, “There's no need for thanks between us. Just promise me you won't overthink things and will start a new life properly; that will be enough.”
“Okay, I promise you.”
Mo Ming nodded in satisfaction and said, “The Spring Festival is coming soon. My father wants me to bring you home for a visit. What do you think, Lian Lian? Let's go meet the parents early.”
“Sure, sounds good,” Murong Lian replied obediently.
Mo Ming thought Murong Lian would refuse at first, but she agreed right away, which surprised him momentarily before he laughed and said, “Lian Lian, when did you become so obedient? I'm not quite used to it.”
“Considering how much you've helped me, I couldn't be bothered to argue with you. If you're not used to it, then I'll just argue with you every day!” Murong Lian pouted.
Mo Ming pinched her lips together playfully, keeping her in a pouty expression as he laughed, “You like pouting? Then let’s keep you pouting forever!”
With that, Mo Ming kissed her fiercely. At first, Murong Lian resisted vigorously, but eventually she stopped fighting back and cooperated willingly.
Seeing that the atmosphere had reached its peak, Mo Ming picked up Murong Lian and carried her toward his room...
Later on, Mo Ming visited the basement again and found Yamada Ikko already dead, his eyes wide open and his expression extremely grim. It seemed likely that he had died from fright; witnessing a swarm of ants devouring his body was such a cruel scene that it must have been a double torment for Yamada Ikko—no wonder he died of fear.
He finally resolved a concern for both Murong Lian and Murong Wei. After this incident, Aunt Xiang told Mo Ming that Murong Lian no longer woke up from nightmares at night and had become much brighter overall.
Mo Ming was clearly not feeling cheerful.
With just five days left until the Spring Festival, households in Nanhua City were busy decorating and celebrating. Supermarkets were filled with discounts and promotions, and the streets were bustling with residents out shopping for New Year goods.
During these days, Mo Ming was truly suffering. Day and night, he was either shopping or accompanying three women on their shopping trips. He felt as if the world was turning dark again, reminiscent of the exhausting days when he first started training.
"Mo Ming, can you hurry up? We still haven't bought the wine, and we need to visit your parents the day after tomorrow. Can you please pay more attention?" Murong Lian urged as she watched Mo Ming lag behind.
At that moment, Mo Ming was carrying a large number of bags after spending the entire morning shopping. The three women insisted that since it was their first time meeting his parents, they couldn't appear too shabby. Consequently, they ended up buying a car full of clothes and New Year goods.
"Three beautiful ladies, it's just meeting the parents; it doesn't have to be so complicated. Does my old man even have any good wine?" Mo Ming felt genuinely frustrated; shopping felt like going into battle—exhausting both physically and mentally!
"Buying wine is mainly to show our sincerity. Do you understand? Hurry up!" Jun Qianqian said discontentedly before continuing to walk ahead with Lin Yuan'er and Murong Lian, who were in high spirits.
"Brother Mo, hurry up!"
"Okay, I'm coming!" Mo Ming replied quickly and rushed to catch up.
