Mo Ming did not hesitate and shot forward, launching an attack at Hebrew.
"If you want to keep me here, let's see if you have the ability!"
Hebrew showed no signs of panic and met the attack head-on.
This was a clash between two extraordinary masters; if one hadn't witnessed it with their own eyes, it would be hard to believe that someone could train to such a level so quickly.
However, Mo Ming relied on agility and speed rather than brute strength, while Hebrew, the top assassin in the underworld, naturally had impressive speed in his strikes.
"You've made some progress; it seems you've put in a lot of effort to deal with me."
Mo Ming leaned back slightly to dodge Hebrew's horizontal punch and quickly countered with a punch of his own, laughing as he said, "But if you think this is enough to handle me, you're gravely mistaken. Show me your true strength, or today you really will be left behind."
"Hmph, whether you're mistaken or not, I'll make you find out."
Hebrew snorted coldly, a glint of killing intent flashing in his eyes as he suddenly leaped forward and kicked out.
The speed of that kick was astonishing. Mo Ming was slightly surprised; he hadn't expected Hebrew's speed and reaction time to have improved so much. Previously, Hebrew had been completely dominated by Mo Ming.
"Interesting. Have you suffered quite a bit for revenge?"
Mo Ming teased as he executed a deep squat just as the kick was about to connect with him, causing Hebrew's leg to miss entirely. But that wasn't the end.
"Hmm?"
Hebrew was slightly taken aback. Just after Mo Ming dodged the kick, he suddenly stood up and delivered a powerful punch to Hebrew's chest, sending him flying backward. However, Hebrew did not fall directly; instead, he performed a somersault in mid-air and landed safely on his feet.
"I told you, if you don't show your abilities, you'll really die here. I mean forever, and I won't give you any more chances!"
Mo Ming's gaze was sharp like a sword, carrying a dangerous aura.
If it weren't for his respect for Hebrew's character, which wasn't too bad, and if Mo Ming didn't have a mission at hand while being obstructed by him, he would have gladly accepted another friend. Therefore, when he shot Hebrew three times, Mo Ming didn't fire additional shots but instead found a place to bury Hebrew.
However, he didn't expect those three shots didn't kill Hebrew; instead, he was deceived by a feigned death, leading to today's situation. Mo Ming didn't regret it; he still respected Hebrew's character. Not firing additional shots was simply because he didn't want Hebrew to die without peace.
But now that Hebrew hadn't died and had returned for revenge, Mo Ming wouldn't give him any more chances. An enemy is always the most dangerous ticking time bomb, especially an assassination expert like Hebrew.
There was no need to leave behind a threat that put himself in danger!
"Oh my God, I never expected that the Shura from back then and the Shura today are both such terrifying existences. The speed of the underlings is fast, and their reactions are equally quick. It seems I underestimated them."
Hebrew stood up with a faint smile on his face, showing no fear of impending death. This smile conveyed two meanings to Mo Ming: first, Hebrew was not afraid of death; it held no terror for him; second, Hebrew had reserved some means to ensure he wouldn't die.
"What preparations does he have?" Mo Ming squinted slightly, cautiously watching Hebrew's subtle movements. Hebrew was already in the shadows; it wasn't difficult for him to plot against you. Mo Ming couldn't afford to be careless for even a moment.
"Haha, Shura, let me guess what you're thinking," Hebrew seemed to see through Mo Ming's thoughts and laughed loudly.
Mo Ming remained expressionless and replied, "Lightweight."
"From your eyes, I know you're wondering what I'm going to do next, right?" Hebrew said with some pride. Being able to see through Mo Ming's thoughts made him feel quite pleased; after all, making a notorious figure like Shura cautious was quite amusing to him.
In response to Hebrew's words, Mo Ming's expression didn't change as he coldly sneered, "So what if you guessed it?"
"So what? I just find it interesting that I can make Shura paranoid. Isn't that interesting?"
Hebrew smiled ominously.
Mo Ming stopped wasting words and charged towards Hebrew again. Just as he was about to get close, a strange smile suddenly appeared on Hebrew's face. Mo Ming thought to himself that it was bad and quickly dove towards the sniper rifle.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sound of three gunshots rang out, but all of them missed. Mo Ming reacted quickly; just as Hebrew drew his pistol, he swiftly took cover with the sniper rifle.
"Damn it, shooting right after drawing the gun, truly a killer's nature!"
Mo Ming felt frustrated as he leaned against the wall with the sniper rifle, his mind unusually calm, only wanting to hear Hebrew's movements clearly.
Hebrew laughed loudly and said, "Haha, as long as I can kill the opponent, a killer can do anything. Shura, I know I'm not your match, but those three bullets from back then, no matter what, I will return them to you and personally end your life."
"Don't make me laugh. Didn't your god tell you that I'm greater than him? Would he dare take me in?" Mo Ming sneered. However, strangely enough, after that remark, Hebrew did not make any movement. The door to the rooftop was tightly locked and did not open.
"Damn it, this is bad!"
Hebrew was probably trying to escape. Mo Ming cautiously stepped outside. The relatively open rooftop had little cover, yet Hebrew's figure was nowhere to be seen. However, the main door had not swung wide open; if Hebrew wanted to escape, he could only jump down!
Thinking of this, Mo Ming quickly looked around and indeed saw Hebrew using a parachute to flee. At that moment, Mo Ming raised his sniper rifle and aimed through the scope, predicting where Hebrew would land, and fired a shot.
The bullet traveled a long distance and hit Hebrew; however, it was not fatal and merely struck his back. Just as Mo Ming prepared to fire again, he saw through the scope that Hebrew pressed a remote control.
Mo Ming immediately dropped the sniper rifle and leaped over the railing of the rooftop, gripping it tightly as he pulled himself in. Just as Mo Ming reacted, the rooftop exploded with a loud bang, followed by a wave of heat rushing towards him.
"Damn it, Hebrew really knows how to set things up. If I hadn't reacted quickly enough, my life would have been forfeit here." Mo Ming wore a frustrated expression; it felt like Hebrew had played him for a fool. It seemed that Hebrew had anticipated all his actions and made extensive preparations in advance.
The explosion was massive, leaving a small mushroom cloud in the sky afterward. It was truly spectacular, a fireball erupting out of nowhere, still lingering with the mushroom cloud. If someone had seen it, the sound would have been like thunder rumbling. Mo Ming was unharmed, but his ears were nearly deafened!
...
In the Criminal Investigation Team's Interrogation Room.
Only Mo Ming sat there, with a nearly burnt-out cigarette in his mouth. He had been brought in half an hour ago, but after sitting for a long time, no one had come to see him, which was quite unusual.
However, Mo Ming felt no tension at all; this place had become routine for him. He was somewhat numb to it, especially after just coming from the traffic police's Interrogation Room. Frequent visits to the Criminal Investigation Team's Interrogation Room didn't evoke much feeling anymore!
After waiting a while longer and finishing his second cigarette, the door to the Interrogation Room finally opened. Ji Yue walked in and showed a somewhat helpless expression upon seeing Mo Ming, turning to look at Liu Dong behind him.
"Leave this matter to me. You go turn off the surveillance cameras; I need to talk to him privately."
Liu Dong was unwilling and said, "What’s there to talk about? I heard this guy was caught by the traffic police last night for speeding, and even after being released, he went up on someone's rooftop to play with explosives. He must face legal consequences!"
"Captain Liu, how have you been lately?" Mo Ming grinned at Liu Dong and waved as a greeting.
Liu Dong's expression turned dark instantly. He snorted coldly and said, "As long as you're here, I can't have a good day. Nanhua City has been messed up because of you!"
"Well, here's another question: wherever Conan goes, someone dies—should we blame Conan for wandering around?" Mo Ming lightly rolled his eyes and smiled.
"You... just wait to go to jail; no one can save you now!"
Liu Dong was somewhat irritated and glared fiercely at Mo Ming. Mo Ming shrugged nonchalantly and replied, "Sure, if there's evidence, I'll clean up my act and wait for you. What’s there to be afraid of?"
"Alright then, Captain Liu, please step outside. If he really did it, I won't let him off," Ji Yue said with an authoritative tone that left no room for refusal. Liu Dong hesitated for a moment before sighing.
"Well, I hope Captain Ji can get something out of him, but I don't have high hopes. Let's wait for Xiao Wei to bring back the surveillance footage."
Ji Yue ignored Liu Dong's words and walked in, casually closing the door behind her. She was hit by a strong smell of smoke in the Interrogation Room, which made her cough a few times. She waved her hand in front of her nose and frowned, saying, "No smoking is allowed here; please put it out."
"Hey, sorry about that. It's just that your efficiency is so slow that I've been waiting long enough to grow mold, so I had to smoke to pass the time," Mo Ming said as he extinguished his cigarette. "But this cigarette is really hard to smoke. Is it because the Police Force doesn't pay enough?"
"What?" Ji Yue was taken aback. How could the difficulty of smoking be related to salary?
Mo Ming smiled apologetically and said, "I got this cigarette from one of your colleagues. Hmm, you won't report me for stealing it, will you?"
"I'm truly at a loss with you. Only you would dare to do something like this!" Ji Yue rolled her eyes dramatically and said, "This is technically theft; taking someone else's belongings without permission is stealing. But you certainly know how to think on your feet. If this gets out, it would tarnish the Police Force's image. I'm too lazy to deal with you."
"Hehe, I knew Captain Ji would be good to me."
"Alright, enough with the small talk. We've known each other for quite a while now. Just tell me what you need; maybe I can help you out," Ji Yue said with a wry smile, feeling somewhat frustrated talking to Mo Ming since he could turn any topic into a lengthy discussion.
"Well, Captain Ji can help me out. As long as you speak up for me, wouldn't I be released without charges?" Mo Ming said playfully. "I haven't slept in a day; could you please help me out and let me rest for a bit?"
