Mo Ming quickly changed positions, tightly wrapping his arm around Fourth Brother's neck and hiding behind him. Fourth Brother tried to resist, but with his neck being choked and lacking the strength of Mo Ming, he couldn't break free at all.
"Don't move, or I'll make your brother die right in front of you," Mo Ming said ominously. "Don't doubt my words, don't entertain any ideas. The moment you make a move, I'll send your brother down."
Initially, Mo Ming thought it was another group of men in black with AK47s, but upon seeing that there was only one person, he felt relieved. No matter how strong the opponent was, Mo Ming wouldn't feel the slightest bit troubled.
This was Mo Ming's arrogance.
Without capital, one cannot be arrogant. As a "Shura," Mo Ming had experienced countless brushes with death and numerous victories, which gave him a unique mindset balancing confidence and arrogance—something not everyone could possess.
The giant man in black truly had concerns and didn't dare to shoot easily. Hesitating, he stood still and coldly said, "Let him go. I can spare your life; otherwise, I will tear you apart with my own hands!"
Mo Ming smiled slightly. "Heh heh, is that a threat?" As he spoke, Mo Ming tightened his grip even more, making it difficult for Fourth Brother to breathe; his face began to turn red.
"Second Brother, Old Six is dead... avenge him... don't mind... me... kill... ah..." Fourth Brother managed to say a few broken words before Mo Ming's tightening grip rendered him unable to speak or breathe.
If this continued for just a short while longer, Fourth Brother would suffocate to death.
"Heh heh, I must commend you; you really have guts. But do you think your brother will just watch you die? Especially at his hands!" A smirk appeared on Mo Ming's lips; this wasn't meant for Fourth Brother but for the second-in-command of the Bloodthirsty Mercenaries standing in front of him.
Demon Bear was enraged upon hearing that Old Six was dead. He felt an uncontrollable urge to rush forward and turn Mo Ming into mush. The grudge of killing a brother must be avenged, but he was also worried that Fourth Brother might die right in front of him, so he had to forcibly suppress his impulse.
"Hmph, you win!" The giant man in black tossed his gun aside. "No matter what, I, Demon Bear, will not harm my own brother. What do you want? Speak up; I'll consider it."
Demon Bear!
Mo Ming recalled some information about this person. As part of the Bloodthirst Mercenaries composed entirely of people of Asian descent, there were two major experts: the captain known as "Iron Fist" Lingyun Tian and the second-in-command was Demon Bear.
Speaking of Demon Bear, he was a titan-like figure who suffered from a rare giantism condition since birth. His massive size resembled that of a brown bear, and his fists were like hammers capable of delivering earth-shattering blows. Some exaggeratedly claimed that his punches could shake the heavens.
This was no joke; if an ordinary person took one punch from him, their ribs would likely shatter. In one of his most famous battles, Demon Bear endured ten gunshots yet still managed to kill another top figure from the Mercenaries.
"Consider what? As if I need your mercy!" Mo Ming had never feared Demon Bear. He sneered and said, "You want this person back? Then I'll return him to you; after all, I'm not picking up soap anymore—it's useless to me!"
Demon Bear's eyes flashed with a fierce intensity as he calculated that as long as Mo Ming released the hostage, he would immediately rush over and tear him to pieces, avenging his fallen comrade Old Six and the many brothers of Bloodthirst.
Taking advantage of Demon Bear's momentary inaction, Mo Ming swiftly broke Fourth Brother's neck. Once a living, breathing member of the formidable Bloodthirsty Mercenaries, Fourth Brother was now reduced to nothingness; he no longer existed in this world.
"I'm sorry, but when I said I would return him, I didn't mean alive. A corpse is all I can offer as a token of respect; I hope you accept it," Mo Ming said as he pushed Fourth Brother's body forward without blinking, as if he had merely swatted a mosquito. Killing was second nature to him; this was the way of the Asura—enemies had to die!
Demon Bear caught Fourth Brother's lifeless body, his heart shattered like glass. He roared like a lion, "Ahhh... you bastard! I will smash you into the ground for my brothers!" With that, Demon Bear released Fourth Brother's body and charged at Mo Ming in a fit of rage.
"Heh, if you want to smash me into the ground, let's see if you have the ability!" Mo Ming scoffed and met him head-on while telling Ji Yue, "The hostages are in some rooms; the mayor is in the main hall. Look for an opportunity to rescue them!"
"But you..." Ji Yue bit her lip lightly but nodded resolutely. "Okay, be careful; I will safely get them out."
"Right, don't go through the front door; there are people lying in wait..." Mo Ming instructed just as a massive fist came crashing toward him. The punch was anything but slow; it was incredibly fast.
Having been momentarily distracted, Mo Ming barely reacted in time to raise his arm to block the incoming fist.
"Hiss!"
When that punch struck his arm, Mo Ming couldn't help but take a sharp breath. Was this really the kind of power a human could possess? Just from one punch, his arm felt numb.
He staggered back a few steps and shook his hand while analyzing the situation: "Demon Bear's strength is too overwhelming; going toe-to-toe would be disastrous. I can only rely on my agility." With this thought in mind, Mo Ming began to deftly evade Demon Bear's numerous attacks.
Demon Bear was incredibly strong—many mercenaries acknowledged him as the number one brute. While they called him a brute, his speed was also impressive; however, his overwhelming strength often overshadowed his speed.
His attacks were quick but couldn't keep up with Mo Ming's movements.
After several exchanges, Demon Bear found it impossible to land a hit on Mo Ming. Seeing the hint of amusement and mockery in Mo Ming's eyes only fueled his anger further. His massive fists became increasingly erratic; if he landed even one punch on Mo Ming, it would be devastating.
However, no matter how powerful those fists were, if they couldn't touch Mo Ming, they meant nothing!
"Is dodging all you can do? Are you afraid to fight me?" Demon Bear taunted in an attempt to provoke Mo Ming. "Coward! You're just someone who can't face a mouse and can only run away forever. Do you dare to fight me?"
Mo Ming smirked disdainfully and said, "Talking so much nonsense only makes you look foolish. Avoiding doesn't mean you're a coward; sometimes, avoidance is a form of bravery."
"Nonsense! A coward is a coward, no matter how grandly you speak. You're just a rat," Demon Bear continued to provoke Mo Ming while attacking, not missing the chance to insult him.
As Mo Ming and Demon Bear faced off, neither could gain the upper hand. Ji Yue seized the opportunity to escape, but Demon Bear's sharp eyes caught sight of him. With a cold snort, he abandoned his attack on Mo Ming and charged at Ji Yue instead.
"You bastard! You also played a part in killing my brother Bloodthirst; die for me!"
Against Demon Bear, one of the world's top mercenaries, Ji Yue was utterly defenseless. One punch from him would surely be unbearable for Ji Yue. In this situation, Ji Yue froze in fear and hurriedly took a few steps back.
His heart raced to the extreme, and he felt panic rising in his throat.
"Get away! Your opponent is me!"
Mo Ming noticed Demon Bear's movement and immediately dashed toward Ji Yue, moving much faster than before. As Demon Bear threw a punch, Mo Ming swiftly pulled Ji Yue behind him.
With a loud bang, Demon Bear smashed a dent into the wall. His brute strength was indeed terrifying.
Mo Ming realized that his body was nowhere near as solid as the wall; if he had taken that punch directly, his body would have likely fallen apart. Ji Yue, having narrowly escaped disaster, stood frozen in place with a dazed expression.
"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go!" Mo Ming shouted loudly, snapping Ji Yue back to reality as he quickly prepared to leave.
"Where do you think you're going? You two will pay for my brothers' deaths today!" Demon Bear's eyes turned red, like a cornered beast, filled with ferocity and emptiness. Just looking into his eyes revealed the immense anger boiling within him.
"Ah..." Ji Yue cried out in fear, while Mo Ming remained calm. A glint of determination flashed in his eyes as he rushed forward with a punch, saying, "Leave it to me; you focus on saving people!"
"Okay." Ji Yue took a deep breath to steady his nerves and nodded before sprinting away.
The clash of their fists was intense; Mo Ming felt as if his entire arm might shatter. However, Demon Bear wasn't faring much better either. He had underestimated Mo Ming's strength due to his slender appearance but was surprised to find that the impact left his arm tingling.
After this collision, both men staggered backward.
"Don't even think about running!"
Demon Bear wanted to chase Ji Yue, but Mo Ming wouldn't give him the chance, sticking closely to him. The earlier collision made Mo Ming aware of their respective strengths; they could actually clash head-on. Although there was a slight difference in power, Mo Ming could compensate with his agility.
Without dodging any longer, he began to fight Demon Bear.
Ji Yue had already escaped, and while Demon Bear wanted to pursue, Mo Ming would not allow it. It was rare to encounter such a skilled opponent, and the fighting spirit within Mo Ming was instantly ignited, an invisible aura of fearlessness emanating from him.
"I never expected you to be so strong; I truly underestimated you. But if you think absolute strength can contend with me, you're gravely mistaken. No one in this world can match my strength!" Demon Bear said confidently, sneering, "If she escapes, she'll ultimately die, and you will likely perish before her."
"You certainly have a big mouth, Demon Bear. Let me experience your prowess!" Mo Ming replied with a calm smile. "It's been a while since I've truly fought; I wonder if my body has rusted."
"Then I shall wait and see if your skills can satisfy me." Demon Bear narrowed his eyes into a dangerous arc, staring intently at Mo Ming. "Tell me, before you die, let me remember your name."
Demon Bear added, "I mean how others address you!"
"I'm afraid I can't tell you," Mo Ming said lightly. "Because this place will not become my grave tonight. However, you Bloodthirsty Mercenaries will vanish without a trace from now on."
"Hmph, such arrogance! I'll see if your words match your abilities!" Demon Bear snorted angrily and took a powerful step forward, leaping into the air and throwing a punch from above using the weight of his body.
