"Of course I know what I did. That person was indeed killed by me. Given the circumstances at that time, if I hadn't killed him, things would have likely turned out much worse." 0

Mo Ming never doubted his own abilities; it was entirely normal for a punch of that weight to cause Pickpocket's death. Mo Ming wanted him dead, and Haotian would definitely ask about it. He had already anticipated this, so he answered cleanly and without any concealment. 0

Thinking back to that moment, Mo Ming fell into a mire of memories. In fact, Pickpocket only needed to be detained and could have wasted away his life without facing death. His mistake was attempting to capture Li Xiulan to threaten Mo Ming, which instantly enraged Mo Ming. 0

In that moment, Mo Ming heard a call from deep within. 0

It was: Kill! Kill! Kill! 0

A violent force took control of Mo Ming's mind, leading him to strike down Pickpocket. By the time Mo Ming regained his senses, Pickpocket was already dead. At that moment, Mo Ming realized there was a demon within him, a bloody hand stained with murder. 0

Mo Ming's candid admission clearly surprised Haotian, whose expression shifted slightly before he smiled and said, "Very well, one must take responsibility for their actions. I have always admired people like you who do what they do without making excuses..." After a pause, Haotian scrutinized Mo Ming's eyes and furrowed his brow as he asked, "Mo Ming, are you listening to me?" 0

After a long silence, with Mo Ming's vacant gaze showing no reaction, Haotian gently touched Mo Ming's shoulder. 0

Only then did Mo Ming emerge from his reverie. Feeling somewhat embarrassed about zoning out earlier, he smiled lightly and said, "Sorry, I just remembered something and didn't catch what you said. Could you repeat it?" 0

"Actually, there's nothing much to say. Rest assured, regarding the incident with Pickpocket, I've discussed it with the higher-ups and concluded that you acted out of necessity. Therefore, we will not pursue your criminal liability and will treat it as self-defense." Haotian sat up straight, fingers interlaced on the table in a relaxed yet dignified posture—his favorite position. 0

"Thank you for speaking on my behalf, Captain Hao. If society had more people like you who can discern right from wrong, there would truly be no wrongful convictions," Mo Ming expressed gratefully. 0

The reason he could so easily clear himself of murder charges was likely due to Haotian's considerable efforts on his behalf; otherwise, he might have had to navigate more legal avenues to resolve the matter. Moreover, given the special nature of this incident, it was only right for Mo Ming as the victim to retaliate in self-defense. 0

"Ah, please don't flatter me too much; I might become conceited," Haotian replied with an elegant smile before continuing, "Alright then, this case has been settled and you don't need to provide any explanations. However, I personally want to ask you some questions; I hope that's alright." 0

"Questions for me?" Mo Ming couldn't guess Haotian's intentions and felt a bit puzzled but soon relaxed and smiled. "Sure, as long as you don't ask about my measurements, feel free to ask anything. However, I can't promise I'll answer every question; I'll only respond to those I feel comfortable answering." 0

Hearing this, Haotian felt that the young man was indeed extraordinary. Mo Ming's words allowed him to advance or retreat strategically. At around twenty years of age, being able to say such things was quite impressive. 0

"Of course, everyone has their secrets. I'm not interested in your size; I just want to ask how that human trafficker died. I've seen his corpse, and there were no knife or gun wounds on him, just some deformation around the neck area. It seems like it was a fatal punch. I want to know if my guess is correct." 0

"You guessed right; it was indeed a fatal punch." 0

Mo Ming answered without hesitation. Since the police had no intention of pursuing criminal charges against him, there was no need for any concealment. 0

"Really killed by a single punch?" 0

To note, in Water Margin, Lu Zhishen needed three punches to kill Zhen Guansi, while Mo Ming managed to kill the pickpocket with just one punch. 0

Although Haotian had been prepared for this, he was still somewhat surprised when it was confirmed. The neck is indeed one of the more vulnerable parts of the human body; theoretically, he could do it too. However, the deformation of the pickpocket's neck was severe, which was something he found curious. 0

"Believe me, it really was just one punch. Surprised?" 0

"Alright, forgive my earlier outburst. Hearing you say that you killed the pickpocket with one punch truly astonishes me." Haotian regained his composure, took a deep breath, and asked, "May I ask you another question?" 0

"Feel free to ask whatever you want; I won't hide anything I can tell you," Mo Ming replied calmly. 0

"I'm very curious about your skills. Can you tell me who you are or what you used to do?" When Haotian asked this question, he shifted his posture, leaning back in his chair with a slight smile while carefully observing Mo Ming's expression. 0

Haotian might be disappointed; Mo Ming's expression showed little change and remained extremely calm. He merely smiled slightly, spread his right hand, and said, "This isn't a secret I can't share. I can tell you that I used to be a soldier. Now, if we put it nicely, I'm a bodyguard; if we put it bluntly, I'm just a rich person's bullet shield." 0

Haotian's expression changed slightly as he contemplated some things before smiling and saying, "No wonder your skills are so good. Speaking of which, we could consider ourselves half-colleagues since we're both serving our country. Hehe, I'm just more curious—given your skills, why did you retire?" 0

"Ah, let's not bring up sad past events anymore." Mo Ming sighed heavily and lamented, "I'm not suited for that kind of life. Just look at my style; I don't have a hint of a soldier about me. I've acted recklessly and got kicked out directly. Captain Hao, you're just rubbing salt in my wounds!" 0

"I know that, but I hope you won't blame me. I didn't mean any harm," Haotian said, somewhat skeptical but not wanting to pry further. He smiled and added, "Alright, I don't have any more questions. You've had your tea, and if there's nothing else, you can leave." 0

With Haotian's dismissal, which suited Mo Ming just fine, he stood up and said with a smile, "Then I'll take my leave now, Captain Hao. Keep working hard; when you get promoted and rich, I'll come visit you." 0

"Then I'll take that as a good omen," Haotian replied with a smile as he stood up and walked a few steps around the desk to say to Mo Ming, "I actually have something to do at Headquarters. Let's go out together." 0

"Sure." 0

Mo Ming and Haotian exited the office, where Luo Zihong was idly sitting. Upon seeing them come out, she walked over and shot Mo Ming an annoyed glance before turning to Haotian and calling out, "Master, have you figured out what this big bad guy has done? You can't let him off easily; he might be that psychopathic killer, Rainy Night Butcher!" 0

"Then you better be careful. The Rainy Night Butcher doesn't spare even female officers. On rainy nights, you'd best not wander the streets; I'll keep an eye on you," Mo Ming said with a teasing smirk, extending two fingers to point at his own eyes before directing them at Luo Zihong. 0

The gesture meant: I'm watching you. 0

However, just as Mo Ming pointed at Luo Zihong, she reacted quickly and tried to grab his fingers. Unfortunately for her, Mo Ming retracted his hand even faster, dodging her grasp. This left Luo Zihong fuming as she frowned and pouted slightly while breathing heavily. 0

"You jerk! If you dare to keep watching me, then on rainy nights, I'll definitely stroll around the streets! Do you think I'm afraid? I'm not scared at all; I'll personally arrest you, Rainy Night Butcher!" 0

Haotian covered his forehead and shook his head helplessly with a sigh. "By the way, do you two have some grudge from your past lives? Every time you meet, it's either misunderstandings or bickering. Maybe you should ask Master Youyang for a fortune-telling session; I've heard he's quite accurate. You really could give it a try." 0

"No need for that; I can tell fortunes too. In my past life, I had a deep blood feud with this jerk; in this life, I'm here specifically to settle the score," Luo Zihong said meaningfully as she calculated with her fingers before smiling at Mo Ming. "And I've calculated that you're about to run into some bad luck!" 0

"Enough already! There may not be a blood feud after all; the truth is that I dumped you because you're ugly," Mo Ming scoffed. 0

"Are you Mo Ming?" 0

A soft female voice came from behind. Mo Ming glanced at Luo Zihong's smile, which seemed a bit gloating, and felt an ominous premonition in his heart. Turning around, he saw two men and a woman standing behind him. This woman, in terms of temperament and figure, was in no way comparable to Luo Zihong. The oversized police uniform could not conceal her voluptuous body; the curves were still evident. Most importantly, she wore a natural smile on her face, as if she were a born optimist, never fading away. 0

Upon seeing the newcomer, Haotian quickly greeted her, saying, "Captain Ji, what brings you here? I was just about to report to you about the human trafficking group we arrested today. It's great that you're here; I've already organized the files and can hand them over to you." 0

The woman who arrived was none other than Ji Yue, the captain of the Criminal Investigation Team. 0

"Captain Hao, you've done a great job today! This is crucial for your future promotion exams. Keep up the good work, and it won't be long before you get promoted," Ji Yue said with an enchanting smile as she shook hands with Haotian. She then turned her gaze to Mo Ming, and her smile instantly vanished. Mo Ming finally understood that the smile could not last forever; it just disappeared when she looked at him. 0

Realizing this, Mo Ming became alert; the woman before him was not easy to deal with and seemed to be coming straight for him. 0

Sure enough, Ji Yue scrutinized Mo Ming and said with a smile, "You may not know who I am, but I know you. Your name is Mo Ming, you are twenty-one years old, and you recently returned from the Island Nation. You were originally the personal bodyguard of local tycoon Murong Wei's daughter, Murong Lian, but something happened recently that caused your mysterious disappearance. Am I right?" 0

"Hehe, are you Captain Ji?" Mo Ming replied calmly, a slight smile on his lips. "You seem to know quite a lot. It seems you've come specifically for me. Well then, just tell me what you need; I'm ready to be interrogated all night." 0

"That depends on whether you cooperate with my work," Ji Yue said as her smile returned. "Alright, Captain Hao, I have some questions for Mo Ming. May I borrow the Interrogation Room for a moment?" 0
