"Shut up!" Murong Wei exclaimed angrily.
Li Xiulan had just seen a glimmer of hope because Murong Lian pleaded for her, but that hope was ruthlessly shattered by Murong Wei's words. Li Xiulan felt that all hope was lost; it seemed she could not keep her position as manager. As this thought crossed her mind, tears threatened to spill from her eyes.
"Forget it, it was just a misunderstanding."
Hearing this voice, Li Xiulan looked up in surprise at the boy she thought resembled a beggar. Perhaps out of gratitude, she suddenly felt that he exuded an air of authority.
Mo Ming glanced at Li Xiulan and noticed the flicker in her eyes. He shook his head and said, "Murong Old Man, for my sake, let's put this matter behind us. Don't go looking for trouble with her in secret."
Murong Wei was somewhat surprised; he didn't expect Mo Ming to help that woman who looked down on him. Mo Ming's serious expression seemed genuine, not a joke. Murong Wei took a deep breath to calm himself and said, "Alright, since Mo Ming has spoken up for you, I won't pursue this matter any further. Just know that I don't want to see this happen again, understood?" After saying this, Murong Wei turned and walked directly into the Presidential Suite without looking back.
Mo Ming and Murong Lian followed him inside.
Li Xiulan felt as if she had been granted amnesty and quickly nodded like a little chick, saying, "Yes, yes, yes! There won't be a next time."
"What is his identity? Murong Wei wouldn't even give his daughter face but would yield to him?"
Looking at Mo Ming's frail figure, Li Xiulan had an odd feeling that this boy was extraordinary. After a moment of daze, she hurriedly left with two security guards.
...
Due to the unpleasantness earlier, Murong Wei left Feng Lai Hotel first to return to the company and handle some matters. Meanwhile, Murong Lian received orders from Murong Wei to wait until Mo Ming finished eating before leaving; otherwise, she might not be allowed to go home.
Naturally, Murong Lian did not dare to sneak away. She felt frustrated and pondered whether she was truly her father's biological child. Why would he threaten her with not being able to go home for an outsider? Could it be that Mo Ming was an illegitimate child?
"That can't be true. If he were an illegitimate child, he wouldn't be dressed like this. With Dad's capabilities, he could support as many sons as he wanted; how could he let his own son live like a beggar?" Murong Lian quickly dismissed that thought.
Mo Ming was still eagerly eating the delicious food on the table, in a good mood, seemingly unaffected by what had just happened. Murong Lian sat nearby, observing this strange creature from the Island Nation.
"Ah! Finally full... um," Mo Ming let out a satisfied burp.
Murong Lian seemed to have been waiting for this moment for a long time. She stood up happily, stretched lazily, and said with a smile, "Finally free! Goodbye, never see you again!" She waved at Mo Ming and left first.
Mo Ming could only smile wryly as he looked at the wallet that had fallen onto the chair. He picked it up and chased after her. Murong Lian was surprisingly quick; in no time, she had disappeared from sight. However, Mo Ming was not in a hurry and took his time riding the elevator down. Just as he reached the first floor, the elevator doors opened, and Murong Lian was just about to enter.
"What? Can't bear to part with me? You came back after just leaving for a bit?" Mo Ming said with a laugh as he walked out of the elevator.
"You are so narcissistic! With your looks, I really can't stand you!" Murong Lian scoffed, but then suddenly noticed that Mo Ming was holding her wallet. She quickly reached out to take it back. "That's my wallet! Hurry up and give it back to me!"
Mo Ming reacted quickly, dodging to the side and holding the wallet up in the air while shaking it. "Just because you say it's your wallet, it’s yours? Then I can say you're mine; do you believe that?"
"You..." Murong Lian bit her cherry-red lips and said, "Fine! My ID is inside; if you give me the wallet, I'll show it to you!"
As she spoke, Murong Lian reached out again to grab the wallet, but Mo Ming still wouldn’t give it to her. Lightly dodging aside while opening the wallet, he said, "No need; I'll just look inside myself. Huh... what's this?"
"Don't look!" Murong Lian shouted as she realized too late that Mo Ming was already pulling something out.
"This is a large band-aid!"
Mo Ming took a look and immediately froze. As a grown man holding a sanitary napkin felt quite awkward, he quickly put it back into the bag and tossed it back to Murong Lian. At that moment, her face turned red with embarrassment as she hurriedly accepted the wallet without daring to shout, fearing others would find out. She quickly turned around and left.
The waiter had already parked her Ferrari at the hotel entrance. Flustered, Murong Lian opened the car door, fastened her seatbelt, and was about to drive when Mo Ming rushed in like a gust of wind, opening the passenger door and sitting down with a grin. "Let's go find a nice place to cultivate our feelings."
"Get lost! Who wants to cultivate feelings with you? It's disgusting! Just being around you makes me feel uncomfortable all over. I really don't know who I offended to run into such a rogue like you." Murong Lian shouted at Mo Ming's ear.
"How could that be? Let me tell you, if you can meet me in this life, it means you are fortunate. Do you understand? You should hurry home and burn some incense; your ancestors are showing their presence." Mo Ming said with a smile, touching his nearly deaf ear.
"I haven't seen any fortune, but I am full of anger. Can you not be so shameless?" Murong Lian replied coldly.
"If you're angry, it means your mindset is poor. Don't blame me for that. Alright, enough nonsense. Let's get in the car quickly and find a nice place to cultivate our feelings and resolve the misunderstandings from before."
Murong Lian immediately unbuckled her seatbelt, got out of the car, and quickly walked to the passenger side door. She yanked it open and said, "Get out quickly and take a taxi home. I don't have time to accompany you!"
"Why would I leave a perfectly good Ferrari to take a taxi? Do you think I'm stupid? I'm not getting out!" Mo Ming insisted.
"Get out of the car!" Murong Lian pulled at Mo Ming but couldn't budge him. She had no choice but to give up, pointing at him and saying, "I'll ask you one more time: are you getting out?"
Mo Ming shook his head with a smile and said, "No need to ask again; I'm really not getting out."
"Fine, since you're not getting out, I'll take a taxi back. Is that alright?" Murong Lian was clearly furious. She hurriedly went to the driver's seat to grab her wallet and immediately hailed a taxi outside the hotel.
"Hey, how much do you have to hate me to leave your own Ferrari behind and just take a taxi home?" Mo Ming sighed helplessly, closing the car door. He jumped into the driver's seat, locked the door, inserted the key, and drove off in the Ferrari following Murong Lian's taxi.
Half an hour later, Murong Lian got out of the taxi at a bar. She stood at the entrance for a moment, looked up to see the bar's sign clearly before walking inside.
"Is saying 'let's go home' just a way to fool me? No wonder she was so eager to shake me off; turns out she came here alone to pick up guys. Truly impressive! A woman's thoughts are hard to guess; you'll never figure them out!" Mo Ming mocked as he watched Murong Lian enter before parking the Ferrari.
This bar was bustling with activity, filled with countless lovesick men and women who gathered here at night to vent their frustrations and seek pleasure both mentally and physically. The bar undoubtedly became synonymous with decadence.
Generally, upscale bars are better as they attract high-class individuals and don't get too chaotic. However, this bar was murky and filled with small-time thugs; all kinds of people came here. Such places are prone to conflicts and often attract police attention.
As soon as Mo Ming entered, he saw a couple getting cozy; the man looked like a thug while the woman was a Delinquent Girl. It truly fit the saying: "a match made in heaven," looking quite harmonious together.
"What are you looking at? Hurry up and get lost, don't provoke my temper!" The man who was being intimate suddenly exploded when he noticed Mo Ming staring at him.
Mo Ming was not afraid; he simply didn't want to cause trouble, so he ignored the man and walked past them into the bar. He looked around and soon spotted Murong Lian, quickly following her.
"Sister Lian, why did you come so late? We've been waiting for you for a long time. No matter what your reason is, according to the old rules, the latecomer has to drink three cups as punishment." A fairly attractive woman stood up as soon as she saw Murong Lian and pulled her to sit between herself and a man.
The man graciously moved over, sitting elegantly with the demeanor of an upper-class gentleman, which felt out of place in the bar's environment.
"Don't mention it, Lala. It's all because of that male actor from Island Nation who kept pestering me. I had no choice. Look, I just managed to shake him off and rushed over. Sorry for making you wait; I'll take my punishment of three cups!" As she spoke, Murong Lian skillfully picked up the three prepared cups in front of her and drank them all in one go without blinking.
It's worth noting that those three cups were filled with high-proof whiskey. Not everyone could handle such a strong drink, yet this seemingly delicate beauty, Murong Lian, managed to finish them without flinching, leaving many men feeling inferior.
It's not surprising though; as the head of an advertising company, Murong Lian naturally had plenty of social engagements. People often had to compete at drinking tables, and one couldn't help but improve their tolerance over time. Murong Lian had long since developed a strong capacity for alcohol.
The man beside Murong Lian clapped in approval and said, "No wonder you're the head of Starry Rhythm Advertising Company. Not only are you beautiful, but you're also a strong woman in the workplace. Truly impressive to see in person."
Upon hearing this, Murong Lian assessed the man next to her and asked, "Are you a friend of Lala?"
Lala quickly introduced him to Murong Lian: "This is Yang Yuan, the young master of Ultimate Electronics Inc. I'm sure you've heard of his name."
As a leading figure in the advertising industry, Murong Lian naturally had some knowledge of prominent companies from various countries. She had indeed heard of Ultimate Electronics' reputation in the American electronics industry. The Yang family had built their fortune from scratch and established themselves firmly in just a few years, even competing with leading company Prosperous Electronics Company.
"Of course! I've heard of the Yang family's reputation for excellence. I never expected Young Master Yang to be so young; truly impressive! I imagine that in a few years, Ultimate will become the leader in the American electronics industry," Murong Lian said smoothly. This ability to converse well was one reason she could navigate the business world without relying on connections from Murong Wei.
