Emperor Hotel, Presidential Suite.
Su Ruoyun sat on the edge of the massive king-size bed, gripping the hem of her skirt tightly, her face pale.
Suddenly, steady footsteps echoed from outside the door. She shivered and looked up just as the door swung open, revealing a tall man stepping inside.
The dim light illuminated the man's chiseled features, and in that instant, Su Ruoyun felt as if she had been struck by lightning, frozen in place.
“Yan Bai, what are you doing here?” she exclaimed, hardly believing her eyes.
Before she could recover from her shock, she felt a sharp pain in her chin. Looking up, she met Yan Yi Bai's icy gaze.
“Surprised to see me?” Yan Yi Bai tightened his grip on her chin. His lips curled into a smile, but his voice was as cold as ice. “You must be wondering how this Pauper, who can’t even pay tuition fees, managed to spend a million to buy your first night.”
Su Ruoyun trembled even more violently. She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted when a hotel staff member wheeled in a food cart and respectfully addressed Yan Yi Bai. “Yan Shao, this is your dinner from our hotel. We hope you enjoy your meal.”
It seemed Yan Yi Bai didn’t hear the staff member's words; he continued to stare intently at Su Ruoyun.
The last trace of color drained from Su Ruoyun's face in an instant.
“Yan Shao...,” she murmured, her eyes widening in realization. “Wait, you are Yan Yi Bai? The Yan Yi Bai from the Yan Family?”
In the entire City S, there are many people with the surname Yan, but there is only one person who can be respectfully referred to as Yan Shao by the staff of the Emperor Hotel—
the only son of the richest family in City S, the Yan Family, Yan Yi Bai.
Yan Yi Bai let out a cold laugh, brushing aside Su Ruoyun as he walked over to the dining cart, poured himself a glass of red wine, and mockingly said, "Yes, my real name is indeed not Yan Bai, but Yan Yi Bai."
Su Ruoyun's mind went blank.
Her first love, the only man she had ever loved in her life, was actually the young master of the prestigious Yan Family, Yan Yi Bai?
But didn't he tell her back then that he was a pauper from the mountains? Wasn't he a struggling student who could barely afford tuition?
"You lied to me?" Su Ruoyun seemed to realize something, her face turning even paler.
"That's right." Yan Yi Bai swirled his wine glass, looking at her with a cold smile and sidelong glance. "If I hadn't lied to you about being a pauper back then, how could I have seen your true nature?"
Three years ago, his father cut off his financial support to train him and sent him alone to a university in another city.
At school, he met Su Ruoyun.
When they first met, he deliberately claimed to be a pauper from the mountains just to see if Su Ruoyun was like those women who had surrounded him since childhood and were only interested in his family background.
But Su Ruoyun was different; she fell in love with him despite him being a "pauper."
He once thought she was the purest girl in the world, loving her to the point of madness. But on graduation day, she suddenly told him that she wanted to break up.
He frantically asked her why, but she simply threw a line at him: "Because you have no money."
How ironic it was that she would say to the young master of the Yan Family, "You have no money?"
Recalling the events of that year, anger reignited in Yan Yi Bai's eyes. He downed the glass of red wine in one gulp and smashed the glass onto the expensive carpet, stepping forward to grip Su Ruoyun's chin once again.
"Alright, there's nothing more to say about what happened back then," he said coldly. "Today, I've paid, so you must fulfill your obligation!"
"Yan Yi Bai, you... ah!"
Su Ruoyun didn't even have a chance to resist before her dress was torn apart with a loud rip!
