Hongjun carried Ye Chuanze out of the pool and placed him on the bed. He then climbed onto the bed himself, sitting beside Ye Chuanze. Both of them were completely naked, showing no signs of embarrassment or awkwardness on their faces; it felt entirely normal for them to be so open with each other. After all, they had just been intimate underwater, leaving marks on each other's bodies, so what was there to feel shy about?
Due to being taken advantage of by Hongjun, Ye Chuanze was in a rather bad mood and appeared somewhat listless. He lay sideways on the intricately carved bed covered with a bright red embroidered sheet, his long black hair cascading down to his waist and spreading across the bed. The contrast of the red sheet against his fair skin was stunning. His eyelids drooped, and he looked fatigued; having just survived a thunder tribulation, he was already drained of energy and magic. Although he had managed to regain some strength, the earlier antics in the pool with Hongjun had exhausted him once more.
He felt utterly weak from head to toe, as if he were a puddle of water. Turning his head to rest on the bed, he couldn't help but frown at the vibrant red sheet and said, "Your taste is quite peculiar; this bright red sheet is rather gaudy."
Hearing this, Hongjun smiled and placed a hand on his waist, tracing the curve of his body. Ye Chuanze's skin was flawless and smooth, while the red sheet was embroidered with a magnificent phoenix in flight. Lying naked atop it, Ye Chuanze resembled a blooming lotus flower, alluring and inviting.
"This color suits you perfectly," Hongjun said playfully.
Ye Chuanze let out a cold snort in response, unwilling to engage further. The earlier entanglement in the pool left him feeling somewhat disgruntled. Although it had started with him succumbing to temptation and taking liberties with Hongjun, the end result was that he had been pinned down at the bottom of the pool by Hongjun, who had fully taken advantage of him. While they hadn't gone all the way, they had certainly crossed many lines.
Ye Chuanze believed it was natural for him to take advantage of others; if someone harbored ulterior motives and took liberties with him, they shouldn't be surprised if he reacted fiercely. He couldn't help but be drawn to Hongjun's beauty and wanted to have him, but that didn't mean he was willing to let Hongjun have his way!
It was truly unexpected that Hongjun, who usually appeared aloof and indifferent like a gentle breeze under a bright moon, could be so unexpectedly passionate and indulgent when it came to intimacy. Ye Chuanze found himself thoroughly explored by Hongjun's hands and lips until he was too weak to stand, ultimately leaning closely against him.
Looks can be deceiving! Ye Chuanze thought bitterly as regret filled his heart.
He closed his eyes, looking weary as he spoke languidly, "Aren't you usually fond of cleanliness? I just lay in muddy water covered in filth; why don't you find me disgusting?"
Hongjun looked at him and lifted his head gently, resting it on his thigh as he said, "If it's you, I wouldn't mind at all. No matter how you look, I would never find you repulsive."
Ye Chuanze scoffed lightly and replied, "That's easy for you to say."
Hongjun chuckled nonchalantly and stroked his soft hair as he said, "I mean it."
"Whether it's true or false, it has nothing to do with me." Ye Chuanze turned his head to avoid his hand.
"Hehe..." A light laugh was heard, filled with a hint of joy, indicating that the person laughing was in a good mood.
Hongjun slightly lowered his head, one hand brushing a strand of Ye Chuanze's black hair, bringing it to his nose to sniff and smiled. Suddenly, he said, "You smell really good. Did you put on some perfume?"
Ye Chuanze scoffed, his tone sarcastic. "I didn't put on any perfume. If you like the scent of perfume, go find a fairy."
Hongjun wrapped the dark strands of hair around his fingers and said softly, "No need. I only want you."
Ye Chuanze's heart jolted violently. He tilted his head slightly to hide his reddening cheeks from Hongjun. Just such a light and shallow remark stirred his heartstrings. How pathetic am I! I'm completely bewitched by this person; beauty is truly misleading! Ye Chuanze silently repented for his lack of resolve and then thought to himself that it wasn't that his will was weak, but rather that the enemy's flames of war were too fierce. Hongjun, this ancient old demon, truly knows how to tempt someone; who can resist? So it wasn't that he couldn't withstand temptation, but rather that Hongjun had no shame in seducing his own disciple.
"Master, you really are shameless! Not even sparing your own disciple! How depraved!" Ye Chuanze accused angrily.
Hearing this, Hongjun sighed and said, "Had I known it would come to this, I wouldn't have taken you as my disciple in the first place."
"Don't! I'm very willing to acknowledge you as my master," Ye Chuanze replied. Was he foolish? To not take advantage of such a strong backing and let go of this big thigh?
Hongjun smiled; how could he not know Ye Chuanze's little thoughts? He then said, "If you don't want to be my disciple and instead become my partner, who would dare bully you in this Primordial realm?"
Ye Chuanze seriously considered his words and finally replied, "If I become your partner, wouldn't I still get struck by lightning? It's not worth it."
Hongjun also responded earnestly, "With me around, you won't die."
To this, Ye Chuanze expressionlessly replied with two "Hehe..."
"I can't die, but I'm still going to be struck by lightning. What kind of sin have I committed to be struck by lightning so many times? It's so unfair!" Ye Chuanze said with a wronged expression. He truly felt wronged! In the past, being struck by lightning could be attributed to undergoing transformation and tribulation, at least there was a reason for it. But what about this time? Different fates for different people! Nuwa achieving sainthood made others envious, while he was just being struck by lightning and losing half of his life.
Hongjun looked at him with amusement, playing with his hair as he spoke, "Do you think Nuwa's creation of humanity is that easy? You took twenty percent of Nuwa's merit; all the karma on you has been cleared, allowing your cultivation to break through its bottleneck. Is such a benefit so easily obtained? The Heavenly Dao sends down tribulations to test whether you have the ability and will to bear this powerful force and responsibility. If not, the heavens will take you!"
Upon hearing the last sentence, Ye Chuanze couldn't help but shiver. He knew Hongjun wasn't lying; if he hadn't endured back then, his ultimate fate would have been… death and obliteration.
Seeing his reaction, Hongjun smiled gently and said, "I believe in you. How could my disciple be so useless as to not even pass a mere lightning tribulation?"
I'm really sorry… When it comes to this lightning tribulation, I truly find it hard to cope. Ye Chuanze's expression suddenly turned weary; Hongjun's words made him feel disheartened and heavy-hearted. No matter how much Hongjun liked him, he would never stop doing what needed to be done or neglect his responsibilities. He would never soften just because the subject was him; when it came time to act, there would be no hesitation. Thinking this way made Ye Chuanze feel suffocated; Hongjun was such a rational person who clearly distinguished between emotion and duty, seemingly never seeing him panic or falter in public matters. Liking such a rational person really felt like self-inflicted suffering, Ye Chuanze thought self-deprecatingly.
Ye Chuanze closed his eyes and rested on Hongjun's thigh, his face cold. Hongjun found his sudden change in mood somewhat baffling. What was wrong? He frowned slightly, placing one hand on Ye Chuanze's head, deep in thought.
Having exhausted his energy, Ye Chuanze didn't struggle for long before falling asleep. He didn't have the energy to entangle himself in matters of love; everything should happen naturally. If they were meant to be together, they would be; if not, they would part ways—men should be able to let go easily. Hongjun was like a flower on a high peak that he couldn't reach; he wouldn't humiliate himself by pursuing it. With feelings of indignation, Ye Chuanze fell into a deep sleep to recover his strength.
Hongjun looked down at the sleeping Ye Chuanze and couldn't help but feel moved. His disciple was usually sensitive and alert; even in sleep, his brows were tightly furrowed as if troubled by something in his dreams. For a moment, Hongjun sighed with melancholy. He gently reached out to smooth Ye Chuanze's furrowed brow as if trying to ease his worries, but it was all in vain—some things couldn't be changed overnight by one person's efforts. With a sigh, Hongjun said, "Even in my embrace, can't you find peace?"
Ye Chuanze, resting with closed eyes on Hongjun's thigh, felt his eyelashes flutter before quickly returning to calmness as if everything were an illusion and nothing had happened.
You are not only my master but also the embodiment of the Heavenly Dao. How can you teach me to trust you? If one day you were to turn against me, would you hesitate? Ye Chuanze thought to himself; the answer was obvious. He couldn't help but smile self-deprecatingly—liking such a person truly felt like self-inflicted suffering.
Ye Chuanze recalled the Hongjun he had once seen: cold and lifeless eyes devoid of any human emotion, expressionless regardless of whom he faced. He wondered if one day Hongjun became like that, would he feel sad? Probably… yes. After feeling sad, he would distance himself from Hongjun and forget about him without being disturbed.
Hongjun held Ye Chuanze close while tending to his hair; Ye Chuanze rested on his thigh. Their posture was intimate like a loving couple yet their hearts were worlds apart with different thoughts. Just moments ago they were affectionate and sweet-talking each other; now their expressions were cold and filled with suspicion toward one another. Both were deeply calculating individuals with their own thoughts hidden away from each other—keeping everything inside only led to misunderstandings and complications.
Ye Chuanze slept for half a month; when he finally opened his eyes again, he found himself still resting on Hongjun's thigh. He looked up and saw Hongjun sitting upright on the bed without moving at all; it seemed he had been meditating with his eyes closed. Hongjun's silver hair flowed down around his waist; his appearance was noble and handsome with an ethereal aura. Suddenly, Ye Chuanze's heart softened—Hongjun had held him like this without moving for half a month.
"Foolish! You could have just put me on the bed and left," Ye Chuanze couldn't help but scold.
A moment of quiet silence followed, and suddenly a calm voice came from above, "I thought that by staying by your side, you might sleep more soundly."
"And what was the result?"
"It seems I have failed; your furrowed brows have never relaxed."
After a pause, Hongjun said in a leisurely tone, "It seems I need to put in more effort."
Ye Chuanze suddenly laughed, feeling that he had been overthinking things. No matter what happens in the future, he decided not to dwell on things that had not yet occurred. As long as Hongjun was sincere with him now, that was enough. It would be foolish to take out his frustrations on someone who truly cared for him because of things that had not happened; it was he who had been troubled.
"Then you should put in more effort and not slack off," Ye Chuanze said.
Hongjun looked at his relaxed brows and the faint smile on his face, appearing thoughtful as he said, "I am somewhat troubled; it seems people's hearts change too quickly. I don't understand, I really don't understand!"
