The Nine-Tailed Fox swallowed the demon core of the Black Serpent, a wave of black energy emanating from its body as it shook its nine fluffy tails with a look of satisfaction on its face. Ye Chuanze watched this scene from the side, revealing a cold smile. Realizing that Ye Chuanze was still present, the Nine-Tailed Fox hurriedly approached, bowing and saying, "Thank you for your great kindness, senior!"
Ye Chuanze looked at him coldly and did not respond.
Seeing that he remained silent, the Nine-Tailed Fox hesitated for a moment and said, "I have no way to repay your great kindness, senior. There is a hidden cave in this mountain that contains a very powerful Spiritual Treasure. How about I lead you there to retrieve the Spiritual Treasure as a token of my gratitude for saving my life?"
"There is no need to trouble yourself so much. You can go and fetch the Spiritual Treasure for me, and presenting it to me will count as repaying my kindness," Ye Chuanze replied coldly, carefully observing the expression on his face.
Upon hearing this, the Nine-Tailed Fox looked troubled and said, "I am but a lowly creature with shallow cultivation and cannot break the restrictions of that cave. I am truly ashamed!"
Ye Chuanze stared at him for a while before slowly speaking, "Very well! Since that is the case, you may lead the way."
Hearing this, a flash of joy crossed the Nine-Tailed Fox's eyes as he quickly said, "This way, senior!"
Ye Chuanze sat on the Black Lotus and followed the Nine-Tailed Fox forward. The path became increasingly remote, and the light grew dimmer. Lush vegetation covered the surrounding area, yet not a single living creature could be seen. The atmosphere became more chilling; Ye Chuanze's Primordial Spirit felt uncomfortable as it was particularly sensitive to malevolent energies. Eventually, after passing through a winding forest path, they emerged into a clearing.
Before them lay a flat area without tall trees obstructing their view; sunlight streamed down brightly, contrasting sharply with the dark places they had just traversed. However, for some reason, this place felt very strange to him, and an uneasy feeling arose in his heart. The chill from his Primordial Spirit had not dissipated. Following the Nine-Tailed Fox further ahead, they soon arrived at a cave entrance.
The Nine-Tailed Fox stopped and said, "Senior, we have arrived; this is the place."
Ye Chuanze examined the cave but found nothing unusual; it appeared to be an ordinary cave. The Nine-Tailed Fox's expression faltered as it said, "Senior, my cultivation is weak and I cannot enter this cave. From here on out, you must go in alone!"
Ye Chuanze glanced at him with scrutinizing eyes before lowering his gaze and saying, "You stay here and wait for my return."
"Yes, senior," replied the Nine-Tailed Fox respectfully.
Ye Chuanze commanded the Black Lotus to fly into the cave. As he entered, his vision suddenly darkened. Inside the cave was rich in spiritual energy; spiritual herbs could be seen growing in every corner, and the rock walls bore mottled marks that seemed to be natural patterns etched into them. After glancing at the rock walls briefly, Ye Chuanze shifted his gaze away. After walking for a while, he suddenly sensed a strong wave of spiritual energy ahead; that must be where the Spiritual Treasure was located.
Sitting on the Black Lotus, Ye Chuanze felt his heart stir as the Lotus Platform emitted a purple-black glow that enveloped him entirely; the defensive barrier of the Twelfth-Rank Black Lotus activated. As he approached closer, he saw an oval stone platform ahead with a golden bell placed upon it; the spiritual energy emanated from this bell. This must be the Spiritual Treasure that the Nine-Tailed Fox had mentioned.
Seeing this scene, Ye Chuanze frowned; it was indeed a precious item. Unfortunately, it was a magical artifact that had been refined by someone, not the innate Spiritual Treasure mentioned by the Nine-Tailed Fox. After hesitating for a moment in his heart, he approached to collect the golden bell. Regardless of whether it was a Spiritual Treasure or a magical artifact, it was still a treasure. He had no use for this bell, but Nuwa would certainly like it. Only then did he remember that Nuwa was a delicate girl, not easy to push over.
As soon as he got close to the golden bell, a chill from the Primordial Spirit enveloped him, and he felt darkness before his eyes as his consciousness suddenly faded.
After a brief moment of unconsciousness, he woke up.
The weather was warm, the sun was bright, the grass was lush, flowers were fragrant, and a gentle breeze blew. Wasn't he at Buzhou Mountain? A hint of confusion flashed in Ye Chuanze's eyes; how did he end up here? He shouldn't be... where? Where should he be? Ye Chuanze frowned; he couldn't recall, as if there was an issue with his memory. He stood still, frowning and pondering, trying to remember what had happened before. He felt that he shouldn't be here.
" Mr. Ye, why are you still here?"
At the sound of the voice, Ye Chuanze turned around to see Fuxi approaching him.
Fuxi walked closer and said, "Today Zhen Yuanzi is holding a Ginseng Fruit Gathering and has invited us to the feast. Why are you dawdling here? Hurry up; if you're late, the Ginseng Fruit will be gone."
Zhen Yuanzi is holding a Ginseng Fruit Gathering? Ye Chuanze frowned; how could this be possible? Zhen Yuanzi treasured those Ginseng Fruits so much that he wouldn't easily host a gathering. He found this situation very strange—everything felt odd, even Fuxi seemed strange. With this thought in mind, he hesitated and slowed his movements. Seeing him standing there without moving for a long time, Fuxi said, " Mr. Ye, what's wrong with you today? Don't delay any longer; let's go quickly!" With that, he reached out to pull him.
Before Ye Chuanze could react, his hand was grabbed. Wait... his hand was grabbed? Ye Chuanze was startled and quickly looked down at where Fuxi held his hand—could Fuxi even touch him?
Fuxi held his hand and walked forward while saying, "Why are you dawdling like this? If we arrive late, everyone will be unhappy and might punish us."
"Fuxi, when did I cultivate into human form?" Ye Chuanze asked.
"Why do you suddenly ask this?" Fuxi frowned.
"I'm just asking out of curiosity; when did I cultivate into human form?" Ye Chuanze stared at his face as he asked.
Fuxi frowned for a long time before saying, "I don't remember; it was such a long time ago that who could still recall?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze lowered his gaze and understood what was happening.
He broke free from Fuxi's grasp. Seeing this, Fuxi frowned at him and said, "What are you..." Before he could finish his sentence, a sword pierced through his chest, as Ye Chuanze thrust a cold blade into him.
"Just as I thought!" Ye Chuanze said softly, then closed his eyes to silently chant a calming mantra. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a dimly lit cave.
As Ye Chuanze awakened from the illusion, he saw the Nine-Tailed Fox, who was supposed to be waiting outside the cave, standing before him with its claws raised, ready to attack. The Nine-Tailed Fox panicked upon seeing him suddenly awake and quickly swiped its claws toward his heart. Ye Chuanze did not dodge; instead, a slight smirk appeared on his lips as he revealed a cold smile. Before the Nine-Tailed Fox's claws could touch him, they were rebounded by the defensive barrier of the Twelfth-Rank Black Lotus, causing it to spit out a mouthful of blood and stagger back a few steps.
"I always thought you were quite strange, and now it seems that is indeed the case!" Ye Chuanze said coldly as he continued, "It seems that most of the Sentient Beings in this mountain have been devoured by you and that Black Serpent."
Realizing its deeds had been exposed, the Nine-Tailed Fox no longer pretended and sneered, "The living beings on this mountain are either like us—monsters that survive by devouring others—or they become corpses. I don't want to die, so of course, I want others to die!"
"Monsters?" Ye Chuanze repeated the term. This was the first time he had heard the word 'demon' in Primordial. In Primordial, the Dao was paramount, and beings cultivated the Dao without any demons present. Although during the chaotic period, there were Three Thousand Deities and Demons who attained enlightenment. However, after Pangu opened up the heavens and transformed into Primordial, the Heavenly Dao was born and great calamities descended, leading to the extinction of the Three Thousand Deities and Demons. It was possible that a few exceptional gods and demons survived the calamity by hiding away.
The strangeness of this mountain seemed to stem from these monsters.
Ye Chuanze addressed the Nine-Tailed Fox: "I admire your indomitable courage in fighting for survival, but since ancient times there has been a distinction between Dao and demon. Today I shall act on behalf of heaven!"
Upon hearing this, the Nine-Tailed Fox was filled with fear and turned to flee. Ye Chuanze would not allow it to escape; he activated the power of the Lotus Platform and summoned a bolt of Purple Thunder that struck down fiercely toward it. Since ancient times, thunder tribulations have been nemeses to monsters; as soon as that Purple Thunder struck down, the Nine-Tailed Fox immediately lost its breath.
As a wave of black mist dissipated, what was once a two-meter tall Nine-Tailed Fox transformed into a small white fox with nine tails disappearing behind it. Indeed, whether it was that Black Serpent or this Nine-Tailed Fox, neither had cultivated their own powers but had taken a crooked path instead. They had absorbed Demonic Energy by devouring others’ demon cores to advance their cultivation; thus their foundation was unstable and they could not fully transform. Once someone took away their demon core, they would revert back to their original form in an instant.
It was unknown how many Sentient Beings and immortals this Nine-Tailed Fox and that Black Serpent had lured into being devoured with Spiritual Treasures as bait, enticing those who mistakenly entered this mountain to come to this cave. This cave was very peculiar; it could trap people in illusions. When those immortals fell into illusions without any defenses, the Nine-Tailed Fox would take advantage of the opportunity to end their lives and consume their flesh to increase its own magical power.
However, one must say that those immortals lacked resolve in their Dao hearts; they were greedy and allowed themselves to be exploited, which led them to lose their lives. Someone like him had no issues at all. Ye Chuanze recalled the scenes from that illusion and couldn't help but twitch his lips; illusions arise from desires within one's heart. The scenes in his illusion could be summarized into two points: one was successfully cultivating into human form with * , and the other was... Zhen Yuanzi holding a Ginseng Fruit Gathering.
The former was somewhat normal; the latter...
Ye Chuanze swore that although he had coveted Zhen Yuanzi's Ginseng Fruit for a long time, he would not drool over it to such an extent!
Ye Chuanze glanced around at this cave; it seemed to be the source of the transformation of Sentient Beings into monsters on this mountain. He knew little about these monsters and was unsure what mysteries lay within this cave. After pondering for a moment, he decided it would be best to destroy this cave. He took out a golden bell, sat down on the Black Lotus, exited the cave, summoned another bolt of Purple Thunder toward it, and with several loud crashes, destroyed the cave.
Purple Thunder Breaks all evil, the Demonic Energy of this cave was destroyed by Purple Thunder, immediately breaking the mountain's demonic barrier. The evil spirit that made Ye Chuanze's Primordial Spirit feel cold at all times also disappeared, and the whole Primordial Spirit felt comfortable. After solving these things, Ye Chuanze drove Black Lotus towards Thirty-Three Heavens and flew to Purple Cloud Palace. There were some things he wanted to ask Hongjun. After Ye Chuanze left for a long time, a man in black clothes and black hair appeared in the ruined cave.
