Star Dragon God
Upon hearing Ruo Xi's words, the few individuals immediately cried out for mercy, but Ruo Xi paid them no mind. She transformed into a shadow and circled around the scoundrels before returning to her original spot.
The group knelt there in a daze, suddenly silent, their expressions blank as if nothing had happened. They thought Ruo Xi was just playing a joke on them; however, in an instant, they realized their mistake when they felt a piercing pain in the bones of their right shoulders. They rolled on the ground, howling in agony, only to discover that the bones in their right arms had been shattered beyond repair.
After finishing this, Ruo Xi clapped her hands and looked at everyone with a smile. The noisy hotel fell silent once more, and no one dared to look at Ruo Xi, turning their heads away to feign interest in their drinks.
At this moment, Ruo Xi turned around as if nothing had happened and cheerfully said to the Innkeeper, "Alright, it's done. Take me to my room."
The Boss looked at Ruo Xi in terror and quickly replied, "Yes, yes! I'll take you there right away."
Ruo Xi followed the Innkeeper toward the hotel rooms. Meanwhile, in a corner of the hotel, a shadowy figure flickered briefly before disappearing.
············
Inside the Underworld Palace.
A shadow guard knelt on one knee before Master Lu Hui of the Underworld Palace and reported, "Master, according to the shadow guards' information, the girl who recently entered has some issues. She was inquiring about two girls who were with a middle-aged man at Black Iron Inn. They are indeed those who came into our Underworld City last time. Master, should I take some people to eliminate her?"
"Don't," Lu Hui waved his hand. He knew that this person, Ruo Xi, was from one of the Three Major Sects. If problems arose, everything would be ruined, including their plans for family reunification. Therefore, Lu Hui continued calmly, "You don't need to worry about her; I have this under control. Also, restore the shadow guards in Underworld Palace to their usual state and temporarily withdraw those added later."
The shadow guard was puzzled by Master Lu Hui's sudden decision but dared not ask further questions for fear of angering him. He replied, "Yes, Master. I will take care of it."
After the shadow guard left, Lu Hui stood up from his throne and gazed out beyond the hall while muttering to himself, "How could that girl be connected with the Beast Cultivation Sect? It seems I need to be more cautious from now on."
That night, under a starry sky in Underworld City, a window on the third floor of Black Iron Inn suddenly opened as a figure flew out toward Underworld Palace. This person was Ruo Xi; she decided to sneak into Underworld Palace.
Meanwhile, inside Underworld Palace, Master Lu Hui was on the top floor of the Yōumei Treasure Pavilion enjoying his drink while occasionally glancing around as if waiting for someone.
Suddenly, Lu Hui paused with his wine cup near his lips; a glint flashed in his eyes before he placed the cup back on the table and stood up to look toward the storeroom with a smile. "I knew you would definitely break in; let’s see how you struggle."
Time passed quietly as Ruo Xi explored most of Underworld Palace but found nothing of interest. Now only the central meeting hall and Lu Hui's Radiant Star Pavilion remained. However, Ruo Xi was puzzled as to why no one had discovered her presence yet and why the guards were so lax. But for Huo Feng's sake, she couldn't afford to hesitate any longer and headed straight for the central area.
At that moment, Lu Hui put down his wine cup in Yōumei Treasure Pavilion and said, "It's about time; I should stop her now." He then leaped down.
Just as Ruo Xi stealthily approached the side of the meeting hall, she suddenly sensed a powerful aura. At that moment, Lu Hui appeared before her with a smile and said, "Miss, it's time to stop. Although I don't know what you're here for, this is already the greatest privilege I can grant you."
Ruo Xi hesitated for a moment, then smiled and said, "With such a powerful aura, I assume you must be the Master of the Underworld Palace. However, I'm curious, when did you discover me? Why are you only coming out now to stop me?"
"Although I don't know why you intruded into my Underworld Palace, I do know that you are from the legendary Three Major Sects' Beast Cultivation Sect. I don't understand how I have offended your Beast Cultivation Sect to warrant such actions from you. Out of respect for the Beast Cultivation Sect, I allowed you to investigate for so long, but this is a confidential area of our Underworld Palace. Even if it costs me my life, I won't let you in. Besides, a girl like you can't possibly kill me," Lu Hui said, staring intently at Ruo Xi, unable to sense her strength.
Ruo Xi knew she was not yet a match for someone in the Calamity Pulse Realm and would not act recklessly. She smiled and asked, "So how do you plan to stop me now?"
Lu Hui's voice turned cold as he replied, "If absolutely necessary, then I'll have to take action."
"Actually, I came out for training. I just found the Underworld Palace very mysterious and special, so I wanted to see it for myself. There’s no other intention; since that's the case, I'll take my leave," Ruo Xi said as she turned to fly away from the Underworld Palace.
However, the Master furrowed his brow. He realized he could not see through Ruo Xi's strength and thought to himself that either Ruo Xi was stronger than him or possessed an extremely special treasure. Either way, it indicated that Ruo Xi held a significant position in the Beast Cultivation Sect, making it even more difficult for him to deal with Huo Feng.
After leaving, Ruo Xi lingered there for a few more moments and then explored the Nether Mountain Range but found nothing. Ultimately, she decided to find Huo Feng first because she knew they wouldn't bring someone from the distant Otherworld without reason; thus, it proved that Huo Lianqing was not in immediate danger.
Three days later, in a room at Black Iron Inn, Ruo Xi asked Spirit Dragon, "Spirit Dragon, it seems staying here isn't a solution. We should go find Brother Feng."
"You want to ask me where your Brother Feng went, right? I'll tell you; he headed in the opposite direction from here—north."
"North? Isn't that the territory of Xiaoyao Fortress? No way! That's too far; I need to set off right now," Ruo Xi said as she stood up and prepared to leave the room immediately to search for Huo Feng.
Spirit Dragon teased her, "Wow! Look at how anxious you are! I'm really curious about this man so far away; it's making me look forward to it."
Ruo Xi ignored him and finished packing before leaving Underworld City at full speed toward Xiaoyao Fortress.
Meanwhile, Huo Feng had been either cultivating at Xiaoyao Fortress or heading to Serene City over the past few days to see if there were any news about special beasts or dragons in hopes of gathering information about Bing but still found nothing.
Now alone again in Serene City, he arrived at the bustling Inviting Moon Tavern. As soon as Huo Feng walked in, a waiter approached him with a smile and said, "Brother! You're here! I've been waiting for you to come drink; it seems you're quite the character—an extraordinary hero among drinkers!"
Huo Feng smiled casually and found an empty table in the hall where he sat down. He then told the waiter, "Bring me some wine as usual."
"Sure thing!" The waiter shouted back into the kitchen, "One pound of Horned Rhinoceros Meat and a jar of Spectral Serpent Blood Wine!"
Huo Feng sat with his back to the entrance, quietly waiting while paying close attention to the conversations around him in hopes of overhearing any useful information.
Moments later, the waiter returned with a tray holding a large plate of Horned Rhinoceros Meat and a jar of Spectral Serpent wine. He placed them in front of Huo Feng and boomed, "Your Horned Rhinoceros Meat and Spectral Serpent wine are here! Enjoy your meal!"
Huo Feng put down the wine and meat, continuing to greet other guests. He opened the wine jar, and a faint fragrance wafted out. Huo Feng raised the jar and poured himself a cup, instantly filling it with a deep red liquid that resembled blood.
This was primarily brewed from the blood of the Spectral Serpent, which grew in extremely cold and dark places. It had the effect of calming the mind and sharpening one's focus, making it an excellent choice for cultivators. Huo Feng lifted the cup and took a couple of light sips before downing the entire drink in one go. A refreshing sensation spread throughout his body, unlike ordinary alcohol that would leave one feeling hot and restless.
Although this was quite enjoyable, Huo Feng still divided his attention to listen to the conversations around him. However, these people were either overly pampered or lamenting their bad luck in gambling; their discussions were rather trivial. Yet Huo Feng did not give up; he quietly eavesdropped, realizing that this feeling was actually quite nice. This was ordinary life—glancing at beautiful women, indulging in daydreams, casually drinking and chatting about everyday matters—how wonderful it was.
He didn't know how much time had passed when Huo Feng closed his eyes to savor the refreshing feeling brought by the Spectral Serpent wine. Suddenly, he noticed that the surroundings had become unusually quiet, with not a single sound. Feeling puzzled, Huo Feng opened his eyes and found that everyone seemed to be frozen in place as if under some powerful spell, their expressions and gazes completely still. They were all staring wide-eyed at the entrance.
At that moment, a voice rang out.
"Hey! Where is everyone? Is this how you treat your guests? Are you still in business?"
Huo Feng recognized that it was a woman's voice, but he was stunned upon hearing it. The voice was so familiar, evoking a sense of nostalgia; it sounded just like Ruo Xi—not just similar, but exactly like her. Huo Feng held his cup still, afraid to turn around lest everything vanish like a dream.
Could it be that he was drunk? Huo Feng thought to himself. It couldn't be! Eventually, he turned around and was even more astonished. Was he really drunk? If so, he wished he could remain in this state forever.
At that moment, the girl walked towards Huo Feng with a slight blush on her face. She smiled sweetly and said, "Silly, this isn't a dream. I've finally seen you; I didn't expect you to really come."
