Upon arriving at Jinglan Garden, the Imperial Guard placed Huo Feng on the bed, and Ruo Xi sent them away.
Ruo Xi sat by the bedside, covering Huo Feng with a blanket. Her eyes were filled with melancholy as she gazed at Huo Feng.
After a long while, Ruo Xi murmured, “Brother Feng, I wonder if you would be angry if I called you that? There is something I have been looking forward to that is about to happen. I should be very happy, but for some reason, I just can't feel the joy.”
Changing her position, Ruo Xi leaned over the edge of the bed, quietly watching Huo Feng. She said, “Just yesterday, your inexplicable roar helped restore much of my fragmented memories. That was the Dragon Roar of your kind, wasn't it? And I know that it wasn't you who made that sound; that Dragon Roar is too familiar to me.”
“It was this familiar roar that helped me regain many memories. It must be that Frost Dragon that found you. No wonder; it turns out you possess the mythical bloodline of the dragon clan, the bloodline of the Golden Wyvern. There are so many unknowns about you.”
“But as my memories gradually return, I have learned much about my past. Do you know? I am from the Tiger Soul Clan, one of the three ruling families of another realm, and I was even the daughter of the clan leader. Surprised, aren’t you, Brother Feng?”
“I also discovered that my body carries a special mark from our clan. As long as I am in the Vein Realm, no matter where I am, people from my clan can sense my location. With that, Ruo Xi fell asleep while leaning over the edge of the bed.
The next morning, Huo Feng slowly opened his eyes but found everything shrouded in darkness. He felt a slight sting in his eyes and his heart tightened.
“What is this place? There isn’t a hint of light.”
Thinking this, Huo Feng immediately sat up. However, upon sensing Ruo Xi's calm presence beside him, his heart finally settled down.
Huo Feng reached out and touched Ruo Xi, softly calling, "Ruo Xi, where is this? It's so dark, there's not a hint of light."
Hearing Huo Feng's voice, Ruo Xi rubbed her eyes. Looking at his bloodshot eyes, which appeared quite frightening, she didn't know how to respond at that moment.
Ruo Xi waved her hand in front of Huo Feng's eyes, and saw him staring without blinking. Huo Feng grabbed Ruo Xi's hand and smiled, "What are you waving for?"
"Can you see?" Ruo Xi exclaimed in surprise and joy.
Huo Feng replied irritably, "See what? It's so dark; how can you see anything? Just now, when your hand was moving in front of me, I only sensed the fluctuations in the surrounding air."
Upon hearing this from Huo Feng, Ruo Xi's expression fell again. She hesitated before saying, "Well, Brother Feng, I need to tell you something, but you have to stay calm."
"What is it that you're stuttering about? Hurry up; if you don't tell me, I won't be calm either."
Seeing Ruo Xi like this made Huo Feng's heart race. So he said,
"Last night during your battle with that person, an explosion injured your eyes, and blood from the explosion got into your eyes. That's why you can't see now." Ruo Xi spilled it all out in one breath and then looked at Huo Feng with concern.
Huo Feng sat there on the bed with a blank expression.
Thinking that Huo Feng couldn't handle such a blow, Ruo Xi leaned closer to him with a worried look and tentatively asked, "Brother Feng, are you okay?"
"If I'm blind now, does that mean you'll have to take care of me all the time? That wouldn't be so bad," Huo Feng suddenly grinned.
Seeing Huo Feng suddenly smile, Ruo Xi was startled and quickly moved away from him, pouting, "You scared me! What are you dreaming about? Who would take care of you?"
Huo Feng's smile vanished as he asked, "Where is this? Is it day or night?"
"This is the inner palace. The Last Emperor has been treating your injuries. It's just getting light now," Ruo Xi replied.
Ruo Xi continued, "Are you hungry? Should I get you something to eat?"
"No need. You should rest for a bit. I want to go out and adjust by myself."
With that, Huo Feng took out a set of clothes from the Narcissistic Ring and got out of bed to head outside.
Ruo Xi quickly followed and held onto Huo Feng's hand, saying, "I'll accompany you."
Huo Feng pulled his hand away firmly, stating, "No, I'm really fine. I just want to adapt on my own as soon as possible; otherwise, how will I live and fight in the future? Besides, what if you're not by my side later?"
Upon hearing Huo Feng's last sentence, Ruo Xi paused. "Yeah, what if I'm not by his side in the future? I might have to leave soon."
At that moment, Ruo Xi looked somewhat pained, but Huo Feng was unaware of it.
Seeing that Ruo Xi did not insist any further, Huo Feng walked toward the door.
Once outside, Huo Feng noticed two people standing motionless at the entrance. Knowing they were Imperial Guards from the palace, he continued walking in another direction.
Soon, Huo Feng realized that he could only sense living or dynamic things; he was unable to perceive static objects like stones and trees.
Before he knew it, it was almost noon, and Huo Feng was still wandering in Jinglan Garden. From time to time, he would bump into pillars or artificial hills and trees.
As he walked through the garden, Huo Feng heard the sound of flowing water nearby. He slowly made his way in that direction.
As he got closer, the sound became clearer and more melodious. Huo Feng suddenly felt that this sound was incredibly beautiful and captivating. It was such a wonderful sensation that his heart became unusually calm and peaceful. This was a feeling he had never experienced before.
In fact, there was a circular fountain surrounded by stones.
Attracted by this feeling, Huo Feng wanted to get even closer. He continued walking forward until his foot kicked a stone, splashing water onto his face, causing him to stop.
He sat on a stone in front of him, quietly listening to the sound.
At that moment, Huo Feng sensed another person's presence and turned around with a smile, saying, "Brother Xuanran, what brings you here?"
"Can't I come to see you? Huo Feng, my brother," replied Xuanran, who had fiery red hair.
Xuanran then asked with concern, "Huo Feng, what happened to your eyes?"
Huo Feng smiled lightly and said, "I am blind now."
Suddenly, Huo Feng caught a strong whiff of an enticing aroma. It was simply irresistible. He quickly asked, "Brother Xuanran, did you bring something delicious? It smells so good."
Xuanran was taken aback for a moment, then said, "I didn't expect that although you can't see, your other senses have become sharper. But this isn't something to eat; it's something to drink."
"Something to drink?" Huo Feng was surprised; he had never heard of a drink that smelled so enticing.
"This is wine. Now that we are both unfortunate souls, would you like to join me for a drink?" Xuanran's voice became somber.
Huo Feng initially felt a bit resistant, but seeing that Xuanran seemed troubled, he smiled and replied, "With something that smells this good, it would be a shame not to drink. However, I can endure my misfortune, but why are you in such a predicament?"
"Let's not talk about it. Let's just drink," Xuanran said as he handed a cup of wine to Huo Feng.
"Alright."
Soon, the jug of wine brought by Xuanran was emptied by the two of them. The two who had been sitting on the stone were now leaning against it, continuously burping.
They exchanged glances and burst into laughter.
After a while, as they began to sober up, Xuanran suddenly asked, "Huo Feng, what do you think of Yuer?"
