Zhong Kui's Diary
Gu Quan?
What is the relationship between Gu Quan and Mao Shun? They even secretly met in the Sauna room.
Could it be that Gu Quan is also an undercover agent for Mao Shun? That can't be possible. With the financial power and strength of Gu Quan and his associates, there is no reason for him to be an undercover agent.
I leaned my head closer to the wall, but the heat from the wall made me hesitant to get too close. I could vaguely hear voices coming from that direction, but I couldn't make out what they were saying.
Fatty's ears were twitching continuously, and his expression was unpredictable. The two middle-aged men saw us and frowned, showing a look of disdain. They snorted and got up to leave.
What does this mean? Do they think we are some kind of perverts with bad habits? If it weren't for the important matter I had at hand, I would have thrown two bars of soap for them to pick up.
"Damn! What the hell!" Fatty kept spouting various exclamations. Clearly, he had heard something exciting, and I was itching to know what it was.
After a while, Fatty finally grinned at me: "Alright, Mao Shun and the others have left!"
"What happened? What happened?" I hurriedly asked.
"He’s an undercover agent!" Fatty said mysteriously.
"What? I can’t believe Gu Quan, such a talented person, is also an undercover agent?" I exclaimed in surprise.
"Who said Gu Quan is an undercover agent?" Fatty laughed.
"Gu Quan isn't an undercover agent? Then who is... you mean, Mao Shun is the undercover agent?" I was taken aback.
Fatty recounted everything he had heard. It turned out that Mao Shun was an undercover agent placed in the Public Security Bureau by Gu Quan. Now, Gu Quan wanted Mao Shun to use his power to turn a blind eye to the gang conflicts in Sun City. Even if someone reported it to the police, they needed to find ways to delay things, with the goal of maximizing casualties on both sides. Moreover, Gu Quan actually wanted Mao Shun to use all means necessary to incite gang fights.
This news was truly shocking. However, what was the purpose of the Underworld doing this? Even if they wiped out all the gangs in Sun City, where would they find people to manage the territory? This was not as simple as running a club or a hotel; this was a county city.
"We need to find Mao Shun first!" I had a vague feeling that what Mao Shun and Gu Quan were doing might be related to our capture.
Walking back outside to the pool area, there were crowds of people everywhere, all completely naked. At first glance, they all looked the same; how could I find anyone here? Reluctantly, I decided not to shower and just wiped myself dry with a towel before changing clothes and heading to the entrance to wait for someone. Fatty, upon hearing this, mumbled about how we hadn’t even done our Health Treatment.
I lit a cigarette at the entrance and had just taken a few puffs when I saw Mao Shun hurriedly walking out, head down and looking troubled, completely oblivious to us.
Fatty was about to step forward to greet him, but I pulled him back. "Let's follow him first and find a quieter place."
Mao Shun didn't call for a taxi; he walked briskly along the sidewalk. Fatty and I struggled to keep up. What the hell, why is he walking so fast?
After following him for several blocks, Mao Shun made two phone calls, hesitated for a moment, then walked into a noodle shop and ordered a bowl of noodles. After coming out, he slowed his pace and leisurely turned into an alley.
The alley wasn't wide, with walls on both sides and a streetlight every ten meters or so. Unfortunately, most of these lights were broken, leaving only one or two flickering with faint yellow light. Under one rusty lamp post was an equally rusty motorcycle, beside it stood an old tree. The lamp post, motorcycle, and tree all looked so worn that they made the entire alley seem incredibly dark.
Once inside the alley, Mao Shun lit a cigarette and squatted down next to a lit lamp post. I tugged at Fatty, and we slipped into a dark corner that was recessed enough to be hard to spot unless someone came right up to us.
Fatty whispered, "There are fewer people now; should we go up?"
"Wait!" I quickly stopped him. "He looks like he's waiting for someone; let's see who it is."
Time passed slowly as Mao Shun smoked one cigarette after another. Just as he lit his seventh cigarette and Fatty was about to burst out, a figure approached from the other end of the alley.
Due to the dim lighting, I could only see a blurry shadow moving closer. As it got nearer to Mao Shun, I finally recognized the person—it was Tian Zhiyong.
I felt relieved; wasn't Tian Zhiyong an undercover agent for Mao Shun? It made sense for him to come report on the situation. This kind of scene always plays out on TV dramas.
"You're here?" Mao Shun coughed lightly.
"Yeah."
"How many reinforcements have arrived from Iron Blood Gang?"
"Sixteen people, including one who is the runner-up in Sanda named Cui Yue; he's Xiao Yuan's junior. That guy has some issues; he's always mumbling to himself."
As soon as Tian Zhiyong said this, I immediately recalled the long-haired slim young man at the hospital entrance. I could be 100% sure that Cui Yue was that person.
"Right, Red Wolf Hall has no backup this time. After this, there won't be any mention of Red Wolf Hall in Sun City anymore. Your current mission is to instigate a conflict between Iron Blood Gang and Lion's Hall..."
"Mao Shun," before he could finish speaking, was coldly interrupted by "Tian Zhiyong": "Wait a minute, do you understand? I'm just an informant, not your undercover agent. An informant only provides some intelligence."
I couldn't see "Mao Shun's" expression, but it probably wasn't good. "Fatty" beside him was covering his mouth and shaking with laughter.
Then "Tian Zhiyong" said something even more outrageous: "You fool, you can't even tell the difference between an informant and an undercover agent. I really don't know how you climbed to the position of captain. Does the Chief of the Public Security Bureau, Wang Mao, live next door to you?"
This remark subtly referenced the infamous neighbor, which made me both amused and surprised. It seemed unreasonable for an informant to act this way. Even if he also held the position of manager in the Iron Blood Gang's Human Resources Department, so what? "Mao Shun" was the captain of the Public Security Team, overseeing a violent agency. If he really wanted to be ruthless, he could easily eliminate you.
Suddenly, "Mao Shun" stood up, threw away his cigarette butt, and shouted angrily: "Tian Zhiyong, how dare you speak like that? Do you believe I can arrest you right now?"
"Tian Zhiyong" scoffed: "Who gave you the authority to arrest anyone?"
"Mao Shun" was furious: "I represent the Public Security Bureau!"
"Hahaha, the Public Security Bureau?" "Tian Zhiyong" laughed heartily and pulled out a badge, waving it in front of "Mao Shun": "Let me tell you a secret; I really am an undercover agent!"
I didn't know what kind of badge "Tian Zhiyong" showed him, but I heard "Mao Shun" exclaim: "You're from the Provincial Department?"
"That's right. We have long suspected that there are insiders in Sun City colluding with gangs; we just didn't expect you to be the first one to jump out." "Tian Zhiyong" sneered: "I think it's better if you come with me."
Is this for real? This twist is too shocking—good guys turning bad and bad guys turning good. While I was still in disbelief, "Mao Shun" suddenly chuckled: "Sorry, I don't want to go with you!"
At that moment, a motorcycle roared to life nearby. I didn't know when a person had appeared on that dilapidated motorcycle.
With a deafening roar, the motorcycle sped towards them and came to a sudden stop right in front of them. The rider swung the handlebars sharply and raised a machete high; the blade glinted as it headed straight for "Tian Zhiyong." He dodged swiftly while the rider seemed uninterested in engaging with him. Instead, they threw the knife at "Tian Zhiyong," grabbed "Mao Shun's" hand forcefully, and swung him onto the back seat.
Now I could see what the motorcycle rider looked like. Their long horse-like face left me dumbfounded; wasn't this the Motorcycle Driver from Lion's Hall who I slapped for extortion? What was his name again? Right, Stone.
Seeing his stance and skills, he wasn't bad at all. Even if he couldn't match me, he shouldn't have been knocked down by my slap. What was going on? Before I could figure it out, Stone revved up the engine and sped off towards the road.
Just when I thought "Mao Shun" had escaped, a figure appeared at the alley entrance like a ghost and kicked the side of the motorcycle with incredible speed and force. The kick flipped the motorcycle over. Seeing this situation unfold, Stone quickly lifted "Mao Shun" and jumped off just in time as the motorcycle screeched against the pavement and crashed into a tree.
The person who kicked over the motorcycle stood confidently in the middle of the road as night winds blew through her clothes and hair danced around her. Yes, it was a woman—and shockingly enough, it was someone familiar; this woman who had kicked over the motorcycle was Zhao Ting from Foreign Trade Hotel's front desk.
"Motherfucker! I can't take it anymore!" Fatty finally couldn't help but mutter softly, "We only know a few people in Sun City, and they're all out here. Is this the grand finale?"
I didn't say anything, but I deeply agreed with Fatty's words as I watched the four people in front of me. The situation was developing rapidly, changing in the blink of an eye, like watching an exciting movie.
Tian Zhiyong stepped forward and stood next to Zhao Ting. It was obvious that Zhao Ting and Tian Zhiyong were on the same side; both seemed to be undercover agents from some public security bureau. Meanwhile, Shitou and Mao Shun were on the same side, likely belonging to Gu Quan's faction.
Before I could gather my thoughts, both sides had already started fighting. This frustrated me, so I turned to Fatty and whispered, "What's going on? They didn't even exchange a few pleasantries before jumping into a fight."
Fatty chuckled lightly, "Life isn't a romance film; no one is going to explain why things are happening this way. More often than not, life is like an adult film—it's all about getting straight to the action."
Fatty's words were blunt but made sense, and I nodded in agreement as I turned back to watch the situation unfold.
The four of them split into two pairs: Zhao Ting against Shitou and Tian Zhiyong against Mao Shun. Tian Zhiyong had a slight advantage over Mao Shun, while Zhao Ting was far superior to Shitou. Who would have thought that Zhao Ting, a delicate girl, would have such high Kung Fu skills? If I were swapped with Shitou, I might not even be able to defeat Zhao Ting in a short time.
Before long, Zhao Ting had knocked Shitou to the ground. Seeing this, Mao Shun was startled and immediately fell victim to Tian Zhiyong's attack, receiving a kick to the abdomen that made him grunt and crouch down while holding his stomach. Zhao Ting reached behind her and pulled out a shiny pair of handcuffs, quickly cuffing one wrist of each of them. She whispered a couple of words to Tian Zhiyong, who nodded and also pulled out a pair of handcuffs from behind him, cuffing one ankle of each person before leading them away as they stumbled.
Once Tian Zhiyong and the others disappeared at the alley entrance, Zhao Ting lightly coughed and walked up to us with a half-smile on her face, "Have you seen enough?"
