Zhong Kui's Diary
Xiao Qingcheng did not hesitate, raising her wooden sword and stabbing in the direction of the sound.
The sound of the wooden sword slicing through the air was quite urgent, indicating it was imbued with considerable magical power.
With a 'bang,' Xiao Qingcheng leaped backward into the air. I was surprised by her move, but then I saw her fall to the ground with her backside facing up, in a rather inappropriate position.
"This kick is to thank you for getting rid of Shadow Phantom for me!" Li Dexin's voice echoed in the air, ethereal and distant: "So, I only used half my strength!"
Xiao Qingcheng struggled to get up. I quickly recited Transforming Illusions into Reality. Damn it, it seemed Xiao Qingcheng was no match for him at all.
Without warning, Xiao Qingcheng was sent flying three or four meters away again. Li Dexin said ominously, "This kick is to thank you for getting rid of Blazing Sun Phantom! Still only half my strength."
Xiao Qingcheng spat out a mouthful of blood, supporting herself with her hands on the ground while her wooden sword fell beside her. It looked like she was seriously injured. That beast, Li Dexin, must have used more than half his strength.
I took a stance, facing the direction from which Li Dexin's voice had come, concentrating and listening intently. As soon as there was any movement, I would rush forward to punch and kick; it didn't matter if I couldn't hit him, I just needed to show some spirit.
I vaguely felt a rush of air in front of my chest and was about to block when it seemed like a foot kicked me in the chest. A great force surged through me, sending me flying backward with a thud as I hit the ground.
"This kick is to thank you for getting rid of Frenzied Spirit!” Li Dexin's voice rang out in front of me.
My physique was much better than Xiao Qingcheng's, so I quickly rolled over and got back on my feet, fully alert. From Li Dexin's tone, it seemed he would also be thanking me for Deceptive Spirit and Devouring Soul. Right, he would definitely count Purple Fiend Spirit as well; that beast would surely pin that on me too.
"Hey hey, can't see me again? What are you posing for?" Li Dexin teased from ahead. Hearing his voice, I lifted my leg to kick at him. Let’s see you make a sound now; damn it, I'll kick you to death.
My ankle tightened as if someone had grabbed it, and then another surge of force came. I found myself being lifted by Li Dexin, swung halfway around and thrown away.
With a loud bang, just like Xiao Qingcheng earlier, I landed on my backside and immediately felt as if my rear had been smashed into four pieces. Gasping for breath, I got up, and under the spotlight, my shadow stretched long behind me.
Would this guy have a shadow? This question suddenly popped into my mind. If he had a shadow, then my attack would have a target. Thinking this, I quickly glanced down at the ground, but unfortunately, there was nothing but the shadows of me and Xiao Qingcheng.
"That fall just now was courtesy of the Purple Fiend Spirit!" Li Dexin said leisurely from the front.
There was no choice; I had to assume a defensive stance once again, this time with even more focus.
At this moment, Xiao Qingcheng swayed and walked beside me, placing a hand on my shoulder. It seemed she still had blood in her mouth as she mumbled, "You can thank Zheng Nan twice for killing the Devouring Phantom."
I turned my head angrily and said, "Qingcheng, have you lost your mind? Why are you reminding him to attack me?"
Li Dexin laughed heartily: "Of course we have to fulfill her request, haha, I'm coming!"
Before I could react, I was kicked in the stomach and flew backward once again. At the same time, Xiao Qingcheng spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Poof!"
Blood sprayed out like a torrential rain. With Li Dexin cursing loudly, I fell to the ground. Ignoring the sharp pain in my back, I scrambled to get up and saw a large patch of red dots moving faintly ahead of Xiao Qingcheng.
It seemed that there was something significant about that mouthful of blood; it had actually broken Li Dexin's invisibility skill.
Damn it! I'll beat you to death; when I go crazy, even Fat Kim is afraid!
I spat out a mouthful of blood-tinged saliva and took off running. With three quick strides, I leaped into the air. This was my signature move 'Open-Mouth Smile,' driving my knee toward that large patch of red dots. As long as there was a trace to follow, I wouldn't let this guy off easily. Could your Kung Fu be better than Lou Wei's? There aren't that many masters in this world.
With a loud thud, my knee indeed collided with something, followed by Li Dexin letting out an "Hey!" as the red dots staggered backward several steps.
"Well done, Zheng Nan!" Xiao Qingcheng also picked up her Peach Wood Sword from the ground and called out to me.
"That hit just now was me crashing into Sun Jianhua!" I walked towards the red dot and smiled, "Next up are Gong Ping'an, Liu Xingyu, and Yang Zhou; I have to count them on your head too."
"Alright, it was my mistake!" Li Dexin chuckled lightly and surprisingly withdrew his invisibility, appearing right in front of us. This left us momentarily stunned; was he preparing to surrender?
"I just showed you my first ultimate move, which is invisibility. Now, let me introduce my second ultimate move: Diamond." As soon as he finished speaking, Li Dexin's body emitted a golden glow that flickered between bright and dim several times before the golden light vanished.
"Diamond? What's so impressive about that? Besides flying or fighting, what else can you do?" I scoffed; the name clearly sounded like some external martial arts technique akin to the Golden Bell Shield or Iron Cloth Shirt. The defensive capability of such external martial arts entirely depends on the opponent's strength.
To put it simply, if you place a brick in front of a kindergarten child and ask them to break it, it's utterly impossible. However, an adult could likely break it with some effort; a martial artist would find breaking a brick as easy as eating.
I firmly believed in my own abilities and was confident I could shatter his protective Divine Skill effortlessly. I even whistled, "Director Li, are you ready? I'm about to attack!"
"Bring it on!" Li Dexin patted his chest, making a loud sound.
"Adah—" This time I used Jeet Kune Do, a martial art created by Li Long that emphasizes rapid force application, capable of unleashing power in the shortest time possible.
My fist whistled as it shot towards Li Dexin; I was quite satisfied with both the speed and strength of this punch.
Clang!
A sharp pain surged through me as my fist seemed to strike an Iron Plate. The joints in my fingers felt like they were splitting apart, and I couldn't help but shout, "Damn!"
I shook my hand vigorously and then blew on it while looking under the light. My fist was swelling at a visible rate.
Motherfucker, he really is like a diamond.
Xiao Qingcheng saw this and shouted angrily, thrusting the Peach Wood Sword towards Li Dexin. The wooden sword faintly shimmered with white Starburst light, indicating that a significant amount of magical power had been infused into this strike.
Li Dexin seemed determined to prove the power of his diamond-like toughness, not dodging or avoiding the attack, and even puffing out his chest to meet the wooden sword head-on.
Crack!
The wooden sword broke into two pieces, and the White Star Radiance flickered in the air a few times before disappearing.
"Interesting!" Li Dexin looked down and noticed a white mark on his chest, resembling a chunk chipped off a stone sculpture by a hammer.
"Damn it, I'm still watching you!" Li Dexin sneered at Xiao Qingcheng and kicked her hard. Xiao Qingcheng was sent flying like a broken kite, landing several meters away and spitting out blood.
"Zheng Nan... this guy... is not a traditional Demon. My magic... doesn't seem to affect him much..." Xiao Qingcheng struggled to say, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
Since that's the case, I might as well fight with all my might. I shook my hand, twisted my body for a spin, and using the momentum from the rotation, I aimed my right leg at Li Dexin's head with a powerful kick.
Li Dexin calmly raised his hand to block my kick. He then grabbed my ankle and yanked it down forcefully, causing me to lose my balance and be pulled forward.
I hopped awkwardly on one leg as I moved forward.
Li Dexin did not release my ankle; instead, he leaped to the side while pulling on my foot with great strength, swinging me through the air.
What does this beast want to do? I suddenly recalled being held like a weapon by Bip in the underground Fifty-Six District. The scene before me was eerily similar. Could it be that Li Dexin also enjoyed using people as weapons?
Unfortunately, I had underestimated Li Dexin's cruelty. This beast swung me down towards the ground as if playing a whack-a-mole game, with me as the hammer and countless moles' heads scattered below.
I couldn't take it anymore; this grudge must be avenged! If I get another chance, even if it takes all my strength... no, even if I have to give it everything I've got, I will make sure to take you down!
Finally, I remembered to protect my head with my hands, but under such a violent impact, it seemed to be of little use. Soon, my entire body was covered in bruises, and I could no longer feel any pain; my whole body was numb.
"Hahaha! Awesome!" Li Dexin finally laughed three times and let go of me. I was flung like a cannonball to the corner of the floor, crashing into two powerful spotlights on the ground and shattering them. The entire floor suddenly became much dimmer.
"Hey, this is pretty fun! I can fly so far?" Li Dexin approached me with an excited expression, like a child who had discovered a new toy. "Let's do it again! This time I'll throw you downstairs and see how far you can go!"
I gasped as I looked at Li Dexin, my body covered in blood with no uninjured spots. It felt as if I had lost all sensation; I didn't even have the strength to struggle to get up.
Li Dexin came closer and closer, now five meters away, then four meters, three meters...
My fingers seemed to touch something on the ground—long and thin. What was this? Oh, the power cord from the spotlights.
Two meters, one meter—Li Dexin finally stood in front of me. I could even see the ferocity flickering in his eyes.
"Fly, angry bird!" Li Dexin bent down and grabbed my ankle, preparing to lift me up with force.
"I'll strangle you!" I roared, grabbing the power cord beside me. I didn't know where the strength came from, but I suddenly wrapped the power cord tightly around Li Dexin's neck.
Li Dexin stood up abruptly, and I dangled from his neck, desperately tightening the power cord around him. All that filled my mind was one thought: I'll strangle you, you bastard!
Xiao Qingcheng came rolling and crawling from a distance, stumbling several times along the way. She reached the shattered spotlight beside me and picked up something from the ground. Pulling at it with all her might, she shouted at me, "Zheng Nan, get down!"
At that moment, my mind was completely foggy; I ignored Xiao Qingcheng's shouting and just focused on tightening the power cord.
I'll strangle you! I want to strangle you, you beast!
Li Dexin seemed to be struggling for breath as well. He grabbed my hair from behind and punched me in the head! My head rang loudly; stars exploded in front of my eyes as the breath I'd been holding burst out of my chest. I lost all strength and rolled off Li Dexin. Just as I was about to lose consciousness, I saw Xiao Qingcheng lunging at Li Dexin.
I don't know how long it had been, but I felt someone pinching my philtrum. I opened my eyes in pain to see Xiao Qingcheng's blood-stained face. Upon noticing that I was awake, Xiao Qingcheng was filled with a sense of relief, as if we had survived a disaster. She smiled foolishly at me for a while, then struggled to stand up and reached out her hand to pull me up.
I staggered to my feet and looked around. I saw Li Dexin lying face down on the ground, completely covered in black, with his neck burned to a crisp. Next to him was a Bear's Mask. I looked at Xiao Qingcheng in surprise and asked, "What happened?"
Xiao Qingcheng pointed at the tangled Power Cord around Li Dexin's neck and said with a smile, "I pulled the Power Cord out of the spotlight and accidentally wrapped it around his neck, which electrocuted him!"
I stared at Li Dexin's corpse, speechless for a moment. How could such a powerful Spirit be killed by us? Everything before me felt like a dream. When I exchanged glances with Xiao Qingcheng, we both saw a mix of emotions in each other's eyes—fear, worry, relief, and gratitude. We had just danced on the edge of death.
Suddenly, Jin Manyuan's words came to mind: all things in the world exist through the connection of Interconnected Threads, and there is a predetermined fate in the universe... Li Dexin had his fate, Bright Moon Phantom had his fate; when would my fate come? Such matters could only be understood by the Judgment of Life and Death.
After making a call to Lingfeng, I leaned on Xiao Qingcheng as we walked toward the stairs.
