Zhong Kui's Diary
I was suddenly startled, my hand instinctively recoiling as I looked around. My first reaction was that Old Wang had returned and discovered the two of us through the surveillance cameras, then sounded the alarm. But then I thought again, it couldn't be possible; I had clearly locked the company’s main door when I came in. And it was still not even midnight—how could he have gotten away from Lily Baby so quickly?
If it wasn't Old Wang, then who could it be? Was there someone else in the company besides me and Fatty? After sending Old Wang off, I had searched the entire company and found no one else. What was going on?
"Who are you?" I shouted.
"Which company are you from? You actually think you can come here to steal the keys?" The eerie voice floated around, as if it could drift through the air.
"We're from Home Inn!" Fatty shouted loudly. Hearing this made me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Motherfucker, why didn't you say you were from HanTing? Why not say you're from Seven?
"Home Inn? Never heard of it!" the voice sneered. "Do you really think that by activating this mechanism, there won't be any backup? You really underestimate me."
"Come out and show yourself!" I demanded angrily.
"I'm afraid I might scare you," the voice chuckled.
"Hey, are you a ghost or something..." Before Fatty could finish his sentence, he suddenly flew into the air and spun around twice.
I was astonished at when Fatty had learned such a move; this kind of light body Kung Fu seemed completely unrelated to him.
Then with a loud thud, Fatty fell down, landing awkwardly.
"Motherfucker, they ambushed me!" Fatty grumbled as he rubbed his backside and stood up, cursing.
Just as I was about to ask Fatty what had happened, a cold wind rushed towards me, passing straight through my body. Then I heard a surprised exclamation from behind me.
"You actually have Yin-Yang Physique?" The voice made my scalp tingle. Damn, it turns out this guard really is a ghost!
"Yes, that's right, I am the Yin-Yang Physique. You can't do anything to me, and I can't do anything to you either. Since that's the case, why don't we turn enemies into friends? What should I call you? My name is Zhong Zhengnan." I smiled innocently, but in my heart, I was calculating that this ghost must be hidden inside the Glass Case, and as soon as I opened it, the ghost would awaken.
"Turn enemies into friends? That's not a bad suggestion. As for names, you can call me Raise. Apparently, in the Yang Realm, the term Raise is quite popular among men. What do you think? It's a nice name, right?" A ripple passed through the air as a thin shadow gradually took shape.
In reality, this term was more popular among women; that lewd thought flashed through my mind.
Fatty rubbed his waist in frustration: "Since we're turning enemies into friends, let's grab the key and get out of here!" Just as he finished speaking, he leaped into the air, spun twice, and fell to the ground with a loud thud.
"Hey, Raise, what's going on with you?" I shouted angrily.
"Isn't this your idea of turning enemies into friends? Although we're not on the same path, we're not exactly enemies either, right? Since you want to turn enemies into friends, we first have to become enemies! Don't worry; after I take care of this Fatty, we'll be enemies. Then I'll definitely turn enemies into friends with you." Raise laughed sinisterly, seemingly delighted at having toyed with me.
"What? Not happy? You know I can't do anything to you, and you can't do anything to me either. Tsk tsk, one should only reveal a little when talking to others. Next time, don't be so quick to expose your own secrets; I'm only saying this as a friend." Raise proudly tossed Fatty into the air and then tried to reshape him. It was clear he wanted to turn Fatty into a ball shape and play with him like a basketball.
I quickly finished reciting the Transforming Illusions into Reality spell and lunged forward with a flying kick aimed at Raise.
Seeing my flying kick attack, a smirk appeared at the corner of Raise's mouth. However, his smile quickly froze on his face as I kicked him back four or five meters. Fatty fell to the ground again with a loud cry.
Raise got up from the ground in shock and paused for a moment before letting out a sinister laugh: "Transforming Illusions into Reality? I didn't expect you could do that. But if that's the case, my attacks will hurt you too."
His entire figure floated up into the air for a moment before he let out a fierce shout and charged at me like a shadow.
I twisted my body for a spin and used my waist's strength to deliver a high whip kick toward the incoming shadow. The shadow did not dodge in mid-air and collided directly with my leg.
With a loud bang, I was knocked back three steps by Raise's impact while he was sent flying high into the air. This guy actually laughed coldly in mid-air as if nothing had happened and transformed back into a shadow charging toward me again.
With Raise's rapid counterattack, my strikes began to lag behind. I could only cross my arms in front of my chest and let out a loud shout as I braced myself to block Raise's next attack.
With a loud crash, I was sent flying three meters away, barely managing to steady myself.
"Die, you stupid Stupid Donkey!" Raise shouted in a sarcastic tone, a line he must have picked up from somewhere, before leaping high into the air and charging at me again.
I gathered all my strength to block with my chest. With a thunderous impact, I was thrown near the elevator, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"Transforming Illusions into Reality? More like turning into an idiot! Oh dear, aren't we friends? Is this where our friendship ends?" Raise, knowing I was at my limit, refrained from attacking again. Instead, he toyed with me like a cat playing with a mouse.
"Ghost Brother, how are you?" Fatty crawled over to me. He had been beaten several times by Raise and was also covered in wounds.
"Oh dear, I forgot you still had a lackey here. Did I embarrass you in front of your subordinate? How about I kill this Fatty first to keep him quiet?" Raise floated around triumphantly, spouting nonsense.
"Shut up!" Fatty grabbed an iron box from the ground and threw it at Raise. Raise dodged it effortlessly, and the box crashed against the wall with a loud clang.
As the sound of the iron box echoed, a blinding white light suddenly filled the area. Dozens of white beams illuminated Raise in mid-air. He let out a scream as his body struggled against the light. No matter how much he fought, the white light acted like a cage, trapping him tightly.
Raise's voice grew fainter as the hissing sounds intensified; the white light even penetrated his body. His form became increasingly translucent until he finally transformed into a wisp of black smoke and vanished into thin air.
Fatty and I stood there like we were watching a movie, dumbfounded as we witnessed Raise turn into smoke. Having seen such things before, we understood that turning into smoke meant this ghost was dead—just like Qing Qiu and Mo Mo had perished.
"What was that?" Fatty clapped his hands and stood up, ready to move forward.
"Stop!" I tried to pull him back but was too late. Instead, I hooked my leg around Fatty's and yanked him back hard, causing him to stumble and fall to the ground.
"What do you mean by that?" Fatty glared at me as he got back up.
"Are you looking for death?" I shouted angrily. "Did you not see how Raise died?"
Fatty looked at me in shock.
I took out my phone. Although I had been knocked around by Raise several times, the phone was surprisingly intact. I opened the camera function, and sure enough, the screen was filled with dense infrared lines.
"So that's what happened!" Fatty suddenly understood: "What I smashed earlier was that Infrared Control Receiver. By some strange coincidence, it activated this infrared system again. Damn it, whatever this white light is, it can even kill ghosts."
Fortunately, the Receiver was not connected to an external Power Supply, but rather had a built-in Powerful Battery. Fatty's earlier throw of the Ashtray only temporarily disabled it. Thinking about this made my scalp tingle; if the Receiver had activated while we were walking over, tsk tsk, we would have been left with nothing but scraps.
Watching the infrared lines on my phone screen flicker in and out, I frowned and said, "Right now, that Receiver is acting up, causing the infrared to appear and disappear. How the hell are we supposed to get past this?"
Fatty chuckled awkwardly: "That's simple; we'll just wait until it disappears and then go!"
"It’s acting up without any pattern. What if you’re halfway across when the infrared comes back? That white light won't ask if you're ready first." I shot a disdainful glance at Fatty.
"I'll just throw another Ashtray at it!" Fatty cursed as he picked up an Ashtray from the elevator; these were the ones I had thrown while testing the floor earlier.
It seemed like that was our only option. We might as well smash it completely. I held my phone and watched the infrared lines, saying, "Alright, I'll start; you throw!"
"Got it!" Fatty weighed the Ashtray in his hand.
Watching the screen, when the infrared disappeared, I shouted, "Throw!"
Fatty was already poised to act; upon hearing me, he swung his arm in a wide arc and swiftly threw the Ashtray.
"Whoosh!" The white light burst forth in the air. The Ashtray turned to dust and scattered. I looked at the rapidly flashing infrared on the screen and couldn't help but smile wryly.
"Damn it, how did you manage that?" Fatty complained as he picked up another Ashtray.
I couldn't be bothered with him, waiting for the infrared to disappear once more.
"Smash!" I shouted loudly.
This time, the infrared disappeared for a longer duration. Fatty successfully threw the Ashtray over, but unfortunately, it missed, and the Ashtray shattered with a loud crash. After all, the previous distance to the Receiver was only four or five meters, while this time it was at least twenty or thirty meters away.
Fatty glanced at the elevator, noticing that there were no more Ashtrays above: "I'll go down and bring up a few more Ashtrays. Luckily, the Coffee Room has plenty of Ashtrays; otherwise, I'd have to use coffee cups. Those aren't as convenient."
Before long, Fatty brought up about ten Ashtrays from downstairs. To be safe, he even grabbed a bunch of coffee cups and pushed them out to place at his feet.
When I shouted "smash" again, Fatty went wild like a frenzied boar, grabbing the Ashtrays and coffee cups at his feet and throwing them one after another. Amidst the sounds of crashing, one of the Ashtrays finally hit the Receiver.
"Stop! Don't throw anymore!" I quickly stopped Fatty as the infrared on my phone screen no longer appeared; it seemed that Fatty had completely smashed it.
"Thanks to the Ashtray! Haha, anyone who tells me to quit smoking will get my wrath!" Fatty laughed while panting.
After waiting for about half an hour and confirming that the infrared no longer appeared, Fatty and I cautiously approached the Glass Case. Clearing my throat, I gathered my strength and reached for the key.
