Kundalin smiled at Shiva and said, "You go ahead and practice, I'll go check on the others." With that, he turned and walked towards Maya and Kara who were training in sword fighting.
Shiva glanced at his still nervous companions and thought, "I might as well use this time to practice my archery." He walked over to the nearby archery range and picked up a carefully crafted longbow and a quiver of arrows.
He first stood firm, with his feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent. His gaze firmly locked onto the distant target, taking a deep breath to calm the nervousness in his heart.
Shiva took out an arrow and slowly placed it on the bowstring, aiming the arrowhead with his fingertips. He raised the bow, holding it with his left hand and gripping the bowstring tightly with his right hand, slowly pulling it back.
He focused all his attention on the target, his lips slightly parted but making no sound. The entire motion repeated countless times within his body until he felt the bowstring pulled to its limit.
At that moment, his heart almost stopped beating, and the whole world became extremely quiet. He took a deep breath, and then—released the arrow.
The arrow shot out like lightning, cutting through the air and emitting a sharp buzzing sound, ultimately piercing the bullseye.
Shiva smiled slightly, satisfied with his performance this time. Although the bow and arrow was not his primary weapon, he believed that every skill was worth mastering.
He walked back to the quiver, picked up another arrow, and stood in position to shoot again. He knew that in a real battlefield, nothing is certain, only constant training and practice can bring one closer to perfection.
Shiva steadied himself once more, took out an arrow, and placed it on the bowstring. His gaze focused on the distant target, but his mind couldn't help but recall the story of Arjuna.
Arjuna, the great archer, once demonstrated his unparalleled skills on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Shiva always contemplates how Arjuna maintains his composure, focus, and precision on the battlefield, especially after their symbolic duel where Arjuna received the divine bow Gandiva and became a legend.
Shiva stands on the archery range, tightly gripping his bow and arrow, gazing into the distance. His thoughts drift to that ancient battlefield, Kurukshetra, where Arjuna displayed immense power with his divine arrows. In his mind, vivid scenes unfold as if he were there in person.
Arjuna stands on a vast battlefield, with warriors fighting for justice and truth behind him, and numerous evil enemies in front of him. His companion, Krishna, stands by his side, calm and serene.
Arjuna raises his divine bow, Gandiva, slowly pulls the bowstring, and his whole body gathers a powerful aura. His gaze penetrates through time and space, seeing the origin of the world.
"Now, release the arrow, Arjuna," Krishna's voice was calm and resolute, as if coming from heaven.
Arjuna released the bowstring.
The arrow shot out like lightning, piercing through space as if creating the heavens and earth, shattering all obstacles. It flew over mountains and rivers, crossed oceans, and reached the edge of the universe, ultimately shattering evil and bringing forth a ray of light.
Shiva Coming to his senses, he understood that it was all an illusion, but also realized that this scene gave him courage and strength. He once again drew the bowstring, aiming firmly at the target ahead. This time, his heart was filled with belief, as if he too could shoot an arrow that would create the heavens and earth.
The arrow accurately hit the center of the target.
At this moment, a familiar laughter and applause came from the side. Shiva turned his head and felt a warmth in his heart. It was indeed Arnold.
Arnold is wearing a shining silver armor that reflects a cold light, with delicate Brahminism symbols embroidered on the armor pieces, as if fragments of ancient scriptures are permanently fixed on him. His headdress is adorned with vibrant feathers, exuding bravery yet elegance, as if these feathers symbolize his valiant spirit on the battlefield. His countenance is resolute, carrying an unwavering spirit, but his eyes unexpectedly hold a gentle gaze, as if he is a sage who can simultaneously experience war and peace.
"Haha, the melancholic prince, you're here again making friends with the target today!" Arnold walked over, wearing a radiant smile on his face. He chuckled as he patted Shiva's shoulder, with just the right amount of force, as if an elder motivating a younger peer.
"Can only archery make you feel calm?" he asked, his voice tinged with curiosity and concern.
Shiva smiled, feeling the trust and respect Arnold had given him. He replied, "Maybe, Arnold. Archery does indeed make me feel more focused. I feel like the whole world is tightly focused on that one arrow, that one target. This kind of concentration allows me to hear the voice deep inside myself, and also gives me the opportunity to reflect and understand."
Arnold listened and a hint of appreciation and understanding flashed in his eyes. He nodded seriously and said, "Hmm, that's definitely not a bad thing. Sometimes, a simple arrow is enough to give someone a profound insight, just like a drop of water can reflect the whole world. The arrow and the bullseye are just external targets. What's truly important is how the arrow passes through the storms in your heart and finds its way to tranquility."
Standing at the edge of the shooting range, Shiva and Arnold seemed surprisingly in sync in their state of mind. One was a seasoned warrior, earning respect from peers with bravery and strategy on the battlefield; the other was a young assassin apprentice, filled with uncertainty and hope for the future. However, in this moment, they shared an indescribable understanding and tacit agreement.
No matter what the future holds, no matter what daunting difficulties and challenges they will face, they know clearly: as long as they have unwavering faith and unyielding courage in their hearts, they can walk hand in hand through the long road and find the path to light and freedom.
