**Single Log Bridge**
In a village far from the hustle and bustle of the world, there stands a solitary Single Log Bridge over a rushing river. It is the only shortcut connecting the village to the outside world. The children living here are quietly told from a young age that only the brave can cross this bridge alone. Zhang Lei, a frail boy, always feels a sense of fear when he stands by the riverbank, gazing at the trembling bridge.
Zhang Lei's father is the village carpenter, and he hopes that his son will go to the city to learn more knowledge in order to change their family's fate. However, Zhang Lei knows that if he cannot overcome his inner fears, he will never be able to take that crucial step.
One day, the village is hit by a flood, and the Single Log Bridge is left swaying precariously. The villagers urgently need rescue supplies, and Zhang Lei's father, along with several other strong men, decides to risk crossing the bridge to seek help. Watching his father's determined figure, Zhang Lei feels a surge of courage within him; he decides he wants to be as brave as his father.
Under his father's careful guidance, Zhang Lei begins to attempt crossing the bridge. At first, every step fills him with dread, but as time passes, he learns to adjust his breathing and focus his mind, steadily moving forward step by step. Finally, at sunset one day, Zhang Lei successfully crosses the Single Log Bridge alone, filled with an unprecedented sense of accomplishment.
This experience completely transforms Zhang Lei. He no longer fears challenges and begins actively preparing for his studies and life in the city. Years later, Zhang Lei becomes an outstanding engineer; he returns home and designs and builds a sturdy bridge that successfully replaces the Single Log Bridge.
This is a story about overcoming fear and growing up. It tells us that everyone has their own Single Log Bridge in life; only by bravely taking that step can we reach a vast world and realize our dreams.
**Against the Current**
Beside a winding river lies a vibrant fishing village where most villagers make their living by fishing. In this village lives a young man named Li Jin, whose father is the best fisherman in town. However, Li Jin has little interest in fishing. He loves reading and dreams of leaving the fishing village to pursue broader horizons in the city.
Li Jin's father hopes he will inherit the family business and continue living as a fisherman. Caught between his father's expectations and his own dreams, Li Jin feels immense pressure and conflict. Whenever he sits by the river and watches the fish swimming upstream against the current, he deeply contemplates his future.
Finally, one day, Li Jin decides to have an earnest conversation with his father. He candidly expresses his thoughts and dreams. Although his father initially struggles to accept this, he is eventually moved by Li Jin's steadfast belief and courage. His father gives him a year to try to realize his dreams in the city.
With just a simple bag in hand, Li Jin begins his journey to the city. There, he faces various challenges: finding work, adapting to a new environment, learning new skills. Each step is filled with hardship, but Li Jin never gives up. Like those fish swimming upstream, he continues to strive forward.
After a year of relentless effort, Li Jin finds a job as an editor in the city. Although he starts as an assistant at a small publishing house, through hard work and talent, he gradually earns recognition and promotion.
This is a story about pursuing dreams and perseverance. It tells us that even in adversity, as long as we have the courage to chase our dreams, we can find our own path. Every person's life is like a river, and dreams are the powerful force that drives us forward.
