The morning sunlight was warm, shining through the glass and illuminating the room. The white walls lifted one's spirits, though the faint smell of disinfectant in the air was somewhat off-putting.
The top floor of the hospital had become an exclusive ward for Lin and his companions; there were no other patients besides them.
Even Lin's prey occupied a room.
Inside the room, Lin and Fatty stared at the moving refrigerator before them, both wearing strange expressions.
"Bro, is this your prey?"
Fatty smacked his lips, gazing at the deer behind the transparent glass. This deer was the one Lin had captured before the incident and had surprisingly been brought back by the Search and Rescue Team.
The Silverhorn Antelope had been dead for some time. It appeared to have no serious external injuries, likely having died from struggling in anger.
This deer was known for its prideful nature; once captured by hunters, it would refuse to eat, sometimes even dying from sheer frustration like this one.
It was unclear how long this deer had struggled in the snow before the Search and Rescue Team found it, but by then, it was already dead.
"I really didn't expect those people to be so considerate; they even brought this back for me."
Lin tapped on the refrigerator, raising an eyebrow before opening his System Backpack and directly storing the refrigerator inside.
Fatty had long been aware of the capabilities of the System Backpack. Ever since he became a Streamer, he understood that the System Backpack and its exchanges existed; however, they thought it was just advanced space technology from their company due to its disguise.
"With this Silverhorn Antelope, we have a source for our Feast when we get home. This trip to Snowy Mountain hasn't been a total loss in terms of ingredients."
After a pause, Lin sighed, "It's just a pity we didn't find the Silver Chain King Fish; that's a regret..."
Licking his lips, Fatty didn't have such high expectations. He grinned mischievously and said, "Bro, having this deer is enough to eat. By the way, I've never tried Venison..."
Lin remained silent and shot a glance at Fatty, revealing the nature of his gluttony when it came to food.
"By the way, Black, what have you been up to these days?"
"Me? I've done quite a lot. I've eaten a lot of good things, all raw. I've noticed that people nowadays like to watch strange things..."
"What do you mean?"
"Have you heard of survival in the wild? I imitated the legendary figure from the Great Star Sea Era, Be Grandpa, and spent a month living in the wilderness at Black Fei..."
"Sounds a bit harsh..."
"Not harsh at all, bro. You wouldn't believe how many things can be eaten raw, and they taste surprisingly good. Like the unique moth larvae at Black Fei; when you bite into one, juice bursts out, with a bitterness that carries an unexpected freshness..."
"Ugh! Stop! That sounds disgusting!"
"I'm telling you, it's really delicious. Hey, bro, can we make a deal? When you hunt deer next time, could you save me a piece of raw meat to try? Deer blood would be great too; I've heard it's very nourishing!"
"Uh... when did you develop this weird habit?"
Lin looked at Fatty's eager eyes and felt a chill run down his spine. Who knows when Fatty might decide to eat him? Streamers who come back from survival in the wild are indeed quite terrifying.
"Is that possible?" Fatty persistently asked, clearly very eager.
"I'll think about it..."
Shivering slightly, Lin quickened his pace. He really wanted to put some distance between himself and this peculiar Fatty.
The two of them laughed and chatted about Fatty's amusing stories with Black Fei as they returned to the hospital room.
As Lin opened the door, he paused for a moment, noticing that Dream Source had woken up at some point. Qin Wei and Lu Meimei were accompanying her in conversation.
"Alien, you're awake!"
Seeing this scene, Lin felt genuine joy. A smile spread across his face as he stepped into the room.
Hearing his voice, the three turned to look at Lin. Qin Wei and Lu Meimei responded happily, but Dream Source's gaze seemed off. She looked at Lin, tightly pursing her lips, and nodded slightly.
This reaction left Lin You stunned. Suddenly, he sensed that something about Dream Source had changed. It felt strange; he understood there was a difference, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was.
Fatty, following closely behind, quickly gathered his thoughts. He greeted Dream Source and subtly signaled for Qin Wei and Lu Meimei to step outside, giving Lin You some private time with her.
With a creak, the door closed, leaving the room unusually quiet, even somewhat awkward.
After a moment of silence, Lin smiled and broke the tension. "Alien, how do you feel?"
"I'm okay..."
Dream Source kept her head down, her eyes darting around like a child who had done something wrong.
"Is there anywhere that feels uncomfortable?" Lin You asked stiffly.
"No."
Dream Source kept her head down, quietly curling up her legs, seeming to feel very insecure being alone with Lin.
It was strange for Dream Source to behave this way, given the trust she had in Lin!
"It's good if nothing's wrong... You should rest, I'll head out first, Alien."
Clearly, this odd behavior made Lin uncomfortable. He forced a stiff smile and tried to leave.
Just as he turned around, Dream Source lifted her head and called out, "Lin, wait a moment, I have something to tell you..."
Lin immediately turned back, furrowing his brow. He had a bad feeling and hesitated for half a second before saying, "If there's something, just say it. It's fine."
"I... remembered some things about my origins..."
Dream Source's gaze was evasive.
"That's great; I'd love to hear about it..."
Lin's smile was stiff. Seeing Dream Source like this gave him an odd feeling.
"I'm sorry, Lin. I can't tell you about my origins..."
Looking up, Dream Source had tears in her eyes without him noticing when it happened. Her voice trembled as she said, "We're not the same kind of people. You know too much; it will only bring you trouble..."
"I don't want to be a burden to you. I've already decided that once we leave Snowy Mountain, I'll leave Azure Planet. I don't belong here; I don't belong to the Primitive Star Domain. I'm a disaster; wherever I go, there will be suffering..."
"I... I..."
Dream Source was already in tears, unable to stop the flow of her emotions.
These days were clearly her happiest and most joyful times, but they were just bubbles that would eventually burst under the weight of her background...
"I must leave!"
Crouched up, Dream Source hugged her legs like a homeless child.
"I won't allow you to leave!"
A pair of hands gently wiped away the tears from Dream Source's eyes, but his voice was so domineering, unyielding in its authority.
Dream Source was stunned; there was a moment of joy in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a more sorrowful gaze.
"Lin, you don't understand what I carry. I am a calamity star, I..."
"I don't care what you are! Where you come from!"
Lin turned Dream Source's face to make her look into his eyes.
In their gaze, reflected in Dream Source's helpless eyes, was Lin's determined expression.
"I only know that you are Dream Source, you are my girlfriend. We have a contract to share energy, share life, a contract that binds us together for a lifetime!"
