"Oh? Feel free to ask," Thunderstorm said as he stepped forward, hearing Ye Tian's words and stopping to turn back.
Ye Tian hesitated for a brief moment but decided to set the question aside for now; it probably wasn't a good time to ask.
"What's wrong?" Thunderstorm noticed Ye Tian's troubled expression and frowned, urging him on.
"It's nothing, I just wanted to ask about the Cloud Sea Sect," Ye Tian replied with a calm smile, changing the subject.
Thunderstorm nodded at this and said with a smile, "You're new here, so it's natural to have concerns. But don't worry, with me around, no one will bully you."
Ye Tian was taken aback by Thunderstorm's words and took a moment to realize that Thunderstorm had interpreted his earlier hesitation as worry about being bullied after arriving at the mountain. However, this was not entirely Thunderstorm's fault; many people experience such feelings when facing a completely new environment. It's only human nature.
"I'm not worried about that," Ye Tian said as he continued walking, smiling as he passed by Thunderstorm.
Thunderstorm followed him and glanced at Ye Tian a few times, saying, "Just because you're not worried doesn't mean it won't happen. Since you're new here, it's better to be cautious. This place is not like Spirit Martial Town; there are always stronger people around."
"Don't worry, Brother Lei. I know my limits," Ye Tian replied with a smile, though he felt quite displeased inside. Although Thunderstorm's tone didn't seem off, the word "cautious" clearly had an ulterior motive. Perhaps it was because Ye Tian's unintentional display of arrogance made him feel dissatisfied, or maybe it was Ye Tian's implication that he didn't intend to rely on him that made him feel somewhat embarrassed.
"Heh, it's best if you do know your limits," Thunderstorm sneered without any attempt to hide it.
Seeing this, Ye Tian chose not to say much more and thought to himself, "He really is a petty person."
After this exchange, the atmosphere between the two became somewhat delicate, and they hardly spoke again as they continued on in silence.
"Uh... Brother Lei, besides your Cloud-Drifting Pavilion, what other pavilions are there?" Ye Tian tried to ease the tension and casually brought up a topic.
Thunderstorm gave Ye Tian a simple answer but still spoke in a somewhat cold tone. This made a hint of anger rise in Ye Tian's heart; such pettiness made him wonder how Cold Moon could possibly like him.
However, despite the coldness, after listening to him, Ye Tian gained a general understanding of the Cloud Sea Sect.
The Cloud Sea Sect is divided into four major pavilions, each further divided into four halls. Each hall has disciples ranging from a hundred to several hundred, and the numbers are not equal.
These four pavilions are managed by four Martial Sovereign experts, namely the Cloud-Drifting Pavilion, Cloudscroll Pavilion, Azure Cloud Pavilion, and Falling Cloud Pavilion.
Thunderstorm belongs to the Cloud-Drifting Pavilion, led by Lord Qiu Tiande, who is a fourth-stage Martial Sovereign and oversees the defense of Cloudscar Peak.
Xuanyuan Changfeng is the Master of Cloud Pavilion, a fifth-stage Martial Sovereign, sharing the defense responsibilities of Cloudscar Peak with Qiu Tiande.
The Master of Azure Cloud Pavilion is named Qin Fufeng. He is a third-stage Martial Sovereign but is charming and handsome, making him popular among female disciples. He manages the daily affairs of Cloudscar Peak.
The Master of Falling Cloud Pavilion is named Peng Suoming. He is a fourth-stage Martial Sovereign and lives up to his name; he is strict and merciless. Anyone who falls into his hands for wrongdoing does not end well, as he oversees punishments at Cloudscar Peak.
These Four Great Sect Masters are figures above countless others. Since the sect leader, Divine Dragon, is rarely seen, these four almost serve as the totem of the Cloud Sea Sect. When people nearby mention Cloudscar Peak, they most likely think of one of these four.
As for the man standing at the top of Cloudscar Peak, his name is Cloudscar.
He does not have a surname or a known true name; no one knows his strength either. They only know that he comes and goes like the wind, leaving no trace behind.
After about an hour of walking, Thunderstorm signaled Ye Tian to stop.
Five paths appeared before them. Except for the middle path, which was the widest and continued toward the mountain peak, the other four corresponded to the four pavilions: Dang, Juan, Cang, and Luo.
"Will you return with me to the Cloud-Drifting Pavilion first or visit Xuanyuan Pavilion Master?" Thunderstorm asked in a very calm tone while standing at the center of the crossroads.
"Brother Lei can go about your business; I will visit Xuanyuan Senior first," Ye Tian replied with a smile and cupped his hands in respect. Although Thunderstorm did not show any particular reaction, Ye Tian could tell that Thunderstorm did not want to take him to the Cloud-Drifting Pavilion and even less wanted him to be under Qiu Tiande's tutelage. In other words, after this separation, he did not wish to see Ye Tian easily again.
"Alright, I'll take my leave first." Thunderstorm simply cupped his hands and then turned to leave.
After watching Thunderstorm walk away, Ye Tian sighed helplessly, thinking, "Thunderstorm's pride is too high, to the point of being somewhat narrow-minded. Just because of a few words, he reacts like this; it's really frustrating."
Shaking his head, Ye Tian chose the eastern path, which led to Cloudscroll Pavilion, the domain of Xuanyuan Changfeng.
"Sigh, seeing Xuanyuan Senior inevitably means encountering that Li Xun. Just thinking about it gives me a headache." After a bitter smile, Ye Tian set off, slowly walking along the eastern path.
He had met Li Xun once before; he was hot-tempered and quite arrogant. Moreover, Ye Tian had previously had a bit of friction with him. This time they met again, and it was likely that some unpleasantness would arise. However, that was minor; if he really joined Cloudscroll Pavilion in the future, there would be plenty of opportunities to "spar" with him.
Ye Tian wanted to enjoy the scenery, so he walked slowly.
Along the way, Ye Tian truly experienced the feeling of being in the clouds. Although he had climbed peaks that reached into the sky in Heavenly Shadow Mountain Range before, they were absolutely incomparable to Cloudscar Peak.
Cloudscar Peak's height was unlike that of ordinary mountains; although it towered into the clouds, there was no sense of thin air. The clouds here were not thick with moisture but rather ethereal and otherworldly.
Being amidst it all gave one a feeling of riding on clouds and mist, truly refreshing for the mind and spirit.
Cloudscroll Pavilion was not located at the summit of Cloudscar Peak. After walking for an hour, Ye Tian found that the mountain path began to descend gradually. After crossing a flat low area, it rose again. At this moment, he had truly entered the territory of Cloudscroll Pavilion.
The mountain path changed with the terrain; currently, it was in a gentle ascent. Ye Tian walked while admiring the scenery around him.
The peak where Cloudscroll Pavilion was located offered a different experience compared to Cloudscar Peak's main summit. Although this peak was not as towering as Cloudscar Peak's main summit, it was exceptionally beautiful.
The shape of this peak resembled a three-dimensional "concave" character. From a high vantage point, one could see a sizable lake in the center of the peak. A few small boats were gently drifting on the lake; whether they belonged to disciples of Cloud Sea Sect or nearby hermits was uncertain—certainly not fishermen.
To the north of the lake stood a sheer cliff rising several hundred zhang high, its surface remarkably flat as if cut by a knife.
On that smooth surface, four giant characters, each the size of a house, caught Ye Tian's eye.
Clouds Rolling and Unrolling.
It was unclear how these four characters were written, but their strokes were exceptionally graceful. The interplay of horizontal and vertical lines conveyed a sense of carefree elegance and distant tranquility, making one feel a stirring in their heart at first glance.
Ye Tian paused to observe for a moment before stepping forward toward the peak of the mountain.
As he approached the summit, the path gradually opened up, revealing numerous branching trails. At the end of these paths were clusters of houses.
The shapes and sizes of these houses were almost identical; they must be the residences of the disciples of Cloudscroll Pavilion. Although it was daytime, many people could still be seen coming and going, laughing and joking, seemingly unconcerned with their studies.
Ye Tian withdrew his gaze from two jovial young disciples who passed by him and thought to himself, "The rules of Cloud Sea Sect are truly lax. With just a Cloud Token, one can bring strangers into the mountains. During broad daylight, all I see are disciples enjoying themselves; not a single person is diligently practicing their skills."
With this thought in mind, Ye Tian couldn't help but reveal a strange smile.
That smile resembled disdain but was not truly disdainful; it was more a sense of disappointment that came from having heard of something renowned but finding it lacking in reality.
"Who are you?" A slightly childish voice interrupted Ye Tian's thoughts.
Following the sound, Ye Tian saw a boy about twelve or thirteen years old sitting on the horizontal trunk of an ancient tree ten zhang away from him.
"I am here to visit Xuanyuan Pavilion Master," Ye Tian replied with a smile. He refrained from calling him Xuanyuan Senior out of concern that this group of Cloudscroll Pavilion disciples might take offense at such familiarity.
"The Lord is not here," the boy said as he leaped down from the tree, landing gracefully without any disturbance to his posture.
Seeing this, Ye Tian nodded slightly, appreciating the boy's skill. "Little brother, do you know where Xuanyuan Pavilion Master has gone? When will he return?"
"He's gone down the mountain, and I don't know when he will return." The young man looked up and down at Ye Tian, then coldly said, "You are from Cloud-Drifting Pavilion, right?"
"No, I'm just here to visit Xuanyuan Pavilion Master," Ye Tian replied with a smile, shaking his head. He then asked, "Why do you ask that, little brother?"
"Hmph, liar! You still want to argue? Just by looking at your outfit, I can guess your identity. Only you from Cloud-Drifting Pavilion like to put on such a facade, dressing like a wealthy young master while your strength is negligible." The young man spoke with indignation, seemingly harboring a deep prejudice against Cloud-Drifting Pavilion.
"Hahaha, little brother, I really am not from Cloud-Drifting Pavilion." Ye Tian found the young boy quite amusing and felt no discomfort from the misunderstanding.
"Then tell me, what are you here for?" The young man was convinced that Ye Tian was from Cloud-Drifting Pavilion, so his attitude grew even colder.
"I really am not..."
"Is it you?!"
Ye Tian's words were interrupted by a loud voice. He turned to look and saw a figure slowly walking down the path from above. The person had a handsome face and an ethereal demeanor; it was Li Xun, whom he had met briefly before.
