Sweat covered the palms of Park Seok, and his words echoed in her ears. Yes, upon reflection, it seemed that everyone who had ever harbored hostility towards her had mysteriously disappeared—through death or imprisonment.
Why?
Anna could hardly bear to think about it, especially after encountering Hogga yesterday. This morning, she heard the news of Miss Choi's death. Wasn't it all too coincidental? These accidents, suicides, left no trace, yet they were all too coincidental and bizarre.
Locking herself in the bathroom stall, she quickly took out her phone and pulled up the text message Hogga had sent her that morning. She pressed the number and dialed.
It was answered quickly.
"I didn't expect you to call me so soon," Hogga said.
"Did you see Miss Choi on the subway yesterday?" Anna's hand trembled slightly as she held the phone.
There was silence on the other end, and Anna felt as if she were waiting for a verdict, nearly forgetting to breathe.
After a long pause, Hogga's voice came through again: "Yes."
Anna felt as if she had been dealt a heavy blow to the chest, sentenced to death.
Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself and said, "She is dead."
Hogga smiled slightly and said, "So what? Do you really think I killed her for you?"
Anna was momentarily speechless. Yes, it was all too coincidental, but where did Anna Zheng get the confidence that someone she barely knew would kill for her?
Seeing that Anna had not responded, Hogga said, "Just focus on your work. Goodbye."
After the call ended, Anna stared at her phone screen for a long time, giving a self-deprecating smile, but she also felt a bit relieved.
Back in the studio, everyone had already started working. Anna quickly sat down, and Dong Wan asked, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Anna replied with a smile and a nod.
"Anna, please take the video you edited yesterday to the subtitle team. Also, later you need to help me bring a box from the first floor; it contains costumes for the next recording session. The delivery person is already waiting downstairs," Zhao PD instructed Anna.
Anna nodded and said, "Okay."
After handing over the tape to the subtitle team, Anna took the elevator to the first floor. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she happened to see Yoo Jae-suk leaving.
Anna found it strange; Brother Jae-seok wasn't scheduled to record today, so why was he here? His steps were hurried, and Anna, wanting to greet him, saw from a distance as Yoo Jae-suk exited through the main door and got into a black sedan that quickly drove away.
That wasn't the usual car Brother Jae-seok took to work; it resembled the one she had seen on a rainy night before.
Not far away, a young man in a blue work uniform was holding a box. Anna walked over; it was indeed the costumes mentioned by Zhao PD. She took the box from the delivery person, bid farewell, and got back on the elevator.
"Hey, EXO is recording a show on the 9th floor. I just saw Sehun; he's so handsome."
In the elevator, Anna was holding a box while two girls around her age were excitedly discussing.
"Yeah, I saw him too! I saw Kai and Chan-yeol; they're really handsome. I've been working here for almost six months, and this is the first time I've seen them in person."
"Right? I'm so excited that I forgot to ask for autographs or take pictures," one of the girls said, a bit disappointed.
As the girls continued talking, they exited the elevator, leaving it suddenly quiet. Anna let out a small sigh, took a deep breath, and gathered her spirits before heading back to the studio.
"Finally, we're almost done with the rough cut. After this, we can relax for two days," Dong Wan remarked.
"Yeah," Anna nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, a black sedan pulled into the underground parking lot of Century Group. Yoo Jae-suk stepped out of the car, where Andy was already waiting by the door.
"Hello, Mr. Yoo Jae-suk. Please follow me," Andy said as he turned and walked toward the elevator.
Yoo Jae-suk clenched his fist and entered the elevator with Andy.
They remained silent until they reached the top floor. After knocking on the door and receiving a response, Andy opened it, stepped aside to let Jae-seok in first, and then closed the door behind them.
